Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@Loopylu1113 Hi! Wow 6 years is a long time! So glad you now have an opportunity to have a child. I’m unexplained so I have no idea why we have had trouble conceiving apart from the fact I only have 1 tube but they say it doesn’t make too much difference. I am due to start around 13th of Feb I believe (depending on my period this month) this will be my 2nd time and have to do a fresh cycle again as we didn’t get any frozen embryos the first time round.
I found the forums really helpful last time so hope they help you as well!

Hi there, I am starting the process first week of March and on short protocol. They haven’t mentioned nor this terpene or provera to me .. is that always done with regime ... wishing you all the best xx

hopefulhel · 09/01/2021 18:50

@Furmummy sorry I can't be of much help I am a complete newbie when it comes to this but I think the provera is to control your cycle to they can determine when you bleed so they can plan the process. I was told to stop taking provera on 8th Feb and am scheduled for my first scan on 11th Feb and will start stims on the 13th

Furmummy · 09/01/2021 18:54

Ahhh I see - I have just been told to phone up on day 1 of my period and then start the injections day 2 - I am a total newbie too -it’s all very confusing and different places will have different procedures xx

Alexm06 · 09/01/2021 19:28

@Furmummy Hi that is all I had to do on my first cycle was just call on my period day then I went in the next day and they scanned me and showed me how to use the injection. Although I had a cyst when she scanned me so had to take my blood to make sure It wasn’t producing hormones which it wasn’t so then started on day 3. This round which I should be starting around the 13th I believe I think they are putting me on provera but yeah wasn’t out on it before x

@Furmummy I have only ever done the long protocol, and can’t even remember the names of most injections. Sorry! Hopefully the nurses can give you answers. Good luck!

Kitttycatt · 10/01/2021 08:33

Hi everyone

Ok if I join? I've just started the long protocol, had my first buserelin injection yesterday and I'm scheduled for egg collection mid Feb. This is the second time starting my first round as down regulation didn't work for me in Nov/Dec as I developed cysts on my ovary and then had to cancel treatment due to the Christmas break.

I was on the jan/feb thread but seeing as I won't know until March if it's worked or not this thread is probably better for me Smile. I'm 35 and we have MFI so need ICSI.

I also haven't told anyone about treatment, I'm based up north, originally from London so haven't been able to see family/friends for months and it's something I'd prefer to do face to face. Haven't told work either, I work for a small company and sooner or later everyone will know if I confide in someone! X

hopefulhel · 10/01/2021 09:58

Welcome @kitttycatt and best of luck. I hope it all works out for you this time. I'm in the same boat in terms of not telling anyone or work. I think I'd prefer to wait and not have to answer all the questions I think it would cause more stress

BeHereNowx32 · 11/01/2021 09:41

Has anyone heard from their hospital yet to officially start in feb/ March? I haven’t had a letter asking to pay yet... I’ll prob hold off and phone next week or after.
How’s everyone feeling? I’m still feeling apprehensive about starting. But I don’t want to put it off.

hopefulhel · 11/01/2021 10:54

I've literally just got my period this morning and was told to contact them on day one of this cycle to confirm scans. So I've rang and left a message asking someone to contact me and I've also emailed the patient coordinator to find out how much is due. I know I have to get eu bloods done at my first scan and think these are €300 extra so just want to organise a transfer of funds.

Alexm06 · 11/01/2021 11:32

@BeHereNowx32 I’m on my last NHS cycle so I am not waiting for a bill but was told to call when my period starts and then they would let me know when to start provera ready for my next period. Have called to make sure they are still going ahead which they are so just waiting for my period to arrive.
Yeah I can’t put it off. I now feel like I’m in a race as one of my closest friends has now starting trying to get pregnant so I was feeling very positive about it all now not so much.

We've been ttc for nearly three years. Was taking a very relaxed approach the first year. Then had an ectopic 18 months ago and was hoping to fall pregnant naturally afterwards but it hasn't happened. All my fertility bloods were fine and have an amh level of 29 at age 37 and no blocked tubes or any issues but am not willing to wait any longer. I have to start provera on cd18 so am just waiting on call back to confirm all my dates

granddesigns · 11/01/2021 16:22

Can I join you on here too please? We've just come to the end of our NHS funded cycle which resulted in 3 frozen embryos (fresh cycle became a freeze all due to Covid). First FET I struggled to down regulate and had flare cysts - sorry you had cysts too @Kitttycatt) one embryo failed to survive the thaw and one transferred successfully but miscarried at 6 weeks. Second FET started in September but didn't down reg properly again (managed to ovulate despite the Prostap injection) so they disbanded the cycle. Tried again in November but they triggered a bleed with provera and managed to complete a transfer in December. Unfortunately this didn't take and we got a BFN. Have now reviewed the cycle with the consultant who wants to avoid FET if possible and not down reg if we need to go there and also try to stimulate more follicles. Now waiting to be booked in and for next period to start a new cycle (if body resets properly should be end of jan or start of feb, but based on previous, I could be jumping on and then off the thread if it doesn't resume as hoped!)

Kitttycatt · 11/01/2021 17:05

@granddesigns hello welcome 👋 sorry to hear your FETs didn't work out do you have to pay for treatment going forward? Fingers crossed you can start soon without any cysts cropping up - they are so frustrating. Do you think if ive had them once I'll get them again? I was down regging for a month before they cancelled the cycle.

@hopefulhel so sorry to hear you went through an ectopic that must of been so hard. You have high AMH which is great, has your other half been tested? Mine has low morphology although they don't seem to treat it in the NHS and we were referred straight to IVF.

granddesigns · 11/01/2021 17:11

Thanks @Kitttycatt - yes we will be self funded now so doing our sums! They are not planning to down reg me again if we need any future FETs - they will do a short protocol instead as have concluded I don't down reg (there were a few other issues too!) essentially, the prostap objected created a surge in oestrogen and i couldn't have a down reg bleed if there were oestrogen filled cysts stopping it! Really hoping the fresh cycle does the trick, but good to know there's a plan in place should we need it!

hopefulhel · 11/01/2021 17:12

@kitttycatt yes he had a sperm analysis and all was fine and everything was fine my end too. I do have an immune disease so unless that is causing problems with getting pregnant naturally or implantation but the clinic didn't seem to think I needed to do anything different. We are going to try at least two rounds of ivf. If neither of those work out we will leave it be. But at least we'll try, I couldn't continue with the disappointment each month.

lucymills1234 · 11/01/2021 17:34

Hi all, I'd like to join if I could. I'm waiting for my period to schedule IVF, which will be my second round. I had my first last Nov/Dec which sadly ended in a BFN. I'm 41, single and doing this solo with a sperm donor but my own eggs. I was on long protocol last time with high dosage stims and managed to have 12 eggs collected despite my age and only having one ovary! Only 5 fertilised which is fairly low but I was lucky to get a 5AA blast for fresh transfer (though it didn't work out) and a 4BB frozen. I've decided to go for another fresh cycle rather than a FET because of my age. The frozen blast is 'in the bank' when I want it but I hope I'm giving myself better chances by trying to get more banked before my eggs age too much more. It would be amazing to get two blasts again but I know there's no guarantees...

hopefulhel · 11/01/2021 17:56

Welcome @Lucymills1234 sorry to hear your last round ended in a bfn. Hopefully we'll all get our bfps soon.

Alexm06 · 11/01/2021 17:59

@lucymills1234 welcome! This is my second round too. Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October. That was a 5AB but didn’t get any frozen from it so will be doing a fresh cycle again. Should be a short protocol again this time but with a higher dose of menopur to get some frozen ones this time as I was one the lowest dose last time. Hope this cycle works for you! X

BambiOnIce80 · 13/01/2021 18:09

Hi ladies, hope it's OK if I join you too? I'm due my prostap injection on the 2nd of Feb to kick off our second FET, which means the transfer will probably be around about the beginning of March. Our fresh cycle ended up with a MMC at 11 weeks last March, then our first FET in November ended up being a CP, so who knows what's going to happen this time?! 🔮 I've found joining threads to be a tremendous support when we've not wanted to tell anyone IRL, so looking forward to getting to know you all and cheer you all on 😊 A couple of names I recognise already, so an extra big good luck to @BeHereNowx32 and @granddesigns! 🍀🤞🏻

granddesigns · 13/01/2021 18:39

Welcome @BambiOnIce80 - I'd rather you weren't here (if you know what I mean!) but give that you're still 'on the bus' it's good to have you journeying with us. Hope things progress towards your down reg injection quickly.

We had our review with the consultant recently and looks like we are trying to address a possible embryo quality issue (and avoiding any sort of down reg if possible! as it all went wrong the last 2 times). They are going to put me on higher dose of stims to get more eggs and hope that they then have more embryos to choose from. Also additional progesterone after egg collection. Now we are just waiting to get booked in and get our meds ready - did an ovulation test and reckon it's either happened or about to (tests are a bit old as haven't been tracking like that for a while!) so hoping they call soon or I'll be calling as don't want to miss the boat for end of January start if it's an option (consultant said yes, but nurses hold the key to the diary, right?!)

strawberrysummer19 · 13/01/2021 18:54

Hi, yes me hopeful March

X

BeHereNowx32 · 13/01/2021 21:05

Hi @BambiOnIce80 nice to be on a thread with you again. Wishing all the luck and love in the world for this next FET. X

BeHereNowx32 · 13/01/2021 21:36

But as @granddesigns said better if we didn’t have to be on this board at all really 🙈 nice to have the support though x

BambiOnIce80 · 14/01/2021 07:35

I absolutely know what you mean @granddesigns and @BeHereNowx32 😄 We'd rather not be here at all, but at least we've got each other whilst we have to be! 😁

The nurse with the diary definitely runs the show @granddesigns ! 🏥 🙌 I was originally booked in for a April/May cycle (because that's just how our NHS waiting list looks at the moment 😔), but the coordinator said to give her a ring this week and she'd see if anyone had dropped out... I did and they had! I was beyond surprised 😲 I hope you have a lovely nurse/coordinator too and she sorts you out before the end of the month 🤞
