IVF February/March 2021

Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Can I join in here?

I’m due to start norethisterone in March, and then an appointment for egg collection in late April. I don’t have any reason to think we have fertility problems, although apparently one of my ovaries is very poor, which is a bit of a worry. I’m having IVF with PGD because I have a neurological condition with a 50% chance of being passed on. My egg collection will have to be done at Guys, although we live in Yorkshire.

I was told medication would be sent out to me in the new year so I’m currently jumping ever time the doorbell goes.

ThePurpleFairy · 24/01/2021 22:30

@The3rdWatermelon hey there Smile I’m also a PGD patient. I’m waiting for my FET at Guys. Are you using Leeds as a satellite? You will get a phonecall from the meds delivery people and they will tell you what day they’re coming

The3rdWatermelon · 24/01/2021 22:33

Hi @ThePurpleFairy, yes we’re at Leeds too. Thank you, that’s good to know. Now I can stop jumping at the door and start jumping at the phone instead! Grin

ThePurpleFairy · 24/01/2021 22:39

@The3rdWatermelon they called me from an 0800 number when they rang me this week, I was fully expecting a scam call and nearly dropped the phone when it was them!

Alexm06 · 25/01/2021 10:40

@ThePurpleFairy how long before your treatment is meant to start did you get the call? I’m just wondering how long I should wait before I call

ThePurpleFairy · 25/01/2021 11:24

@Alexm06 I have an appointment to go through FET schedule on 11 Feb. I expect I’ll be starting meds around 20 Feb and they’re aiming for w/c 15 March transfer. My meds are being delivered 4 Feb

It depends if there’s a waiting list for you I guess, my clinic there’s a long waiting list so I get more notice. Some clinics for FET you can just phone on day 1 of your period and be like ‘I’m telling you that I’m starting now’ - if only!!!

Alexm06 · 25/01/2021 11:29

@ThePurpleFairy ahh ok I’m meant to start provera next weekend and then injections the week after so is only 3 weeks from them telling me I’m starting I might leave it to next week then if the med people haven’t called yet. Thank you!

Hey guys I'm on the Jan/Feb thread for my upcoming FET but recognise some of you on here from previous threads I was on so wanted to share.

Anyone with MFI might find this interesting -

lucymills1234 · 25/01/2021 16:57

Hi @The3rdWatermelon and welcome. Everyone is very different of course, but in case it gives you any reassurance, even if one ovary is a bit iffy, the other one can still react well and give you a good egg count.

I had one ovary removed a few years ago because of a cyst and my remaining ovary managed to produce 11 eggs for collection in my first round of IVF. It sadly wasn't successful which is why I'm here again, but the solo ovary did its job well!

The3rdWatermelon · 25/01/2021 17:03

Hi @lucymills1234, thank you, that's reassuring. Apparently my other one is 'excellent' but the poor one, in the words of my consultant "is just not pulling it's weight!"

Best wishes for your next round!

Kitttycatt · 25/01/2021 17:14

Thanks @MF1981 That's really useful x

Mrbay · 26/01/2021 10:32

Morning All!

Not sure what to write this morning, but thought I'd pop something down to say I am reading all of your posts and if I can help I'll jump in.

@MF1981 - I love Rhod Gilbert and I've found out that his latest tour is about their journey, so I am excited/sad to see what he says - I do hope that they manage to have a baby. He attend one of our local Zoom quizes last week and when asked about the tour he didn't really want to talk and I now I fully understand why. I've got the programme ready to watch on iPlayer.

I kicked off in Oct/Nov determined to lose the additional IVF weight that I had gained, it started really well but now I think I am heavier than when I started, even tho I can still fit in my jeans comfortably.

Anyone else noticed that all the drugs and IVF has messed up your sex drive?

GingerBrummie · 26/01/2021 14:04

Hi all,
I was on the Jan thread but moving onto this one please. I took my first buserelin injection today, Im on a long protocol, so similar dates to @thetallgirl
Im 38, TTC for # 1 for 2.5 yrs & been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Tried Clomid & Letrozole too but sadly didnt work & this is my first attempt at IVF. Due to my age & DH is 47 I kind of just want it to happen asap!
Anyhows, good luck everyone Smile
P.s Im at St Barts Hospital in London.

thetallgirl · 26/01/2021 15:56

Sounds very similar @GingerBrummie ! We've also been trying 2.5years (though been married for 8.5 and did try at various points before that too). I didn't think the injection was too bad - I took my first one last night.
I'm 31, so hoping time is on my side! Although AMH and FSH levels were not where they should be for my age unfortunately, so who knows.

GingerBrummie · 26/01/2021 18:55

Hi @thetallgirl
age is certainly on your side so thats good. I take my buserelin in mornings & was pleasantly surprised, quick, easy & painless. Im trying to stay occupied for the next couple of weeks to get thru this bit..

Mrbay · 28/01/2021 10:06

I think I'll be starting stims at the same time as you both - well fingers crossed.

Starting to feel a bit real as in 2 weeks time, I'll be back on the IVF rollercoaster.

I'm so happy that I'm not having to use buserelin this time, it really doesn't like me, gives me really bad mood swings and very low, low points.

Kitttycatt · 28/01/2021 11:37

Hello

How is everyone getting on? Anyone started stimms yet?

I have my down regulation scan on Tuesday, fingers crossed buserelin has worked for me this time and I can start menopur on wed.

Alexm06 · 28/01/2021 11:56

@Kitttycatt Hey! I haven’t started yet. I’m due to start provera tablets next Friday for a week then start injections when my period comes but still waiting for the call to arrange my meds to be delivered. I’ll probably call Monday if I haven’t heard by then.

It’s crazy how it feels so far away at the beginning then it just sneaks up on you and it’s time to start haha

OP posts:
MrTumbleTumble · 28/01/2021 12:09

I'm definitely feeling that it's snuck up on me after feeling like the waiting was dragging on.

I've had my first norethisterone today so I'll be starting stims in about 2 weeks. We're all on very similar timescales!

hopefulhel · 28/01/2021 12:49

I started provera this morning so this is the start of it now for me. First cycle so hopefully everything runs smoothly. I've started planning some home renovations to take my mind off the process

elsiegoggings · 28/01/2021 16:13

Just an update. I'm starting drugs next Friday (Buserilin - that's not how you spell it is it? 😂) for a FET. Scratch on Monday and acupuncture and consultation. We are at BMI The Priory in Birmingham.

elsiegoggings · 28/01/2021 16:14

@hopefulhel good idea taking your mind off it. I'm debating wether to keep working during the treatment. I'm a freelancer so work from home and manage my own workload. (Which is zero at the moment as I'm still in training!)
What kind of treatment are you doing?

GingerBrummie · 28/01/2021 18:56

Hi ladies, question re Buserelin please. I take 0.5ml a day, I seem to be able to remove air bubbles okay, I also squirt a little bit out prior to injecting however Im always left with a small amount in the syringe after Im done. I spoke to the nurse who said no liquid should be leftover. Anyone else experience this?

thetallgirl · 28/01/2021 21:24

@GingerBrummie I haven't had that. It can take quite a bit of force to get the last bit out though.

GingerBrummie · 28/01/2021 21:31

Thanks! Im going to ask DH to help tomorrow...!
