IVF February/March 2021

Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Sadly I won't be joining you after all, ladies 😔 The coordinator rang this morning and said they've had new covid restrictions implemented since they spoke to me on Wednesday and they're having to lower the number of patients they're seeing each month. I was the last one in, so obviously the first one out. I completely agree that it's the fairest way, but I'm nevertheless gutted 😞 I should start the month after (as long as they don't change the restrictions again 🙄), so looks like I might be prostap jab early March and transfer late March/early April if all goes ahead. Wishing everyone all the luck in the world 🍀🍀🍀

Alexm06 · 15/01/2021 14:37

@BambiOnIce80 oh that sucks! But at least you can still go ahead and wasn’t pushed back much later.

I’ve just had an email with all my provisional dates of everything. It seems weird as I didn’t know dates last time it was just when they scanned they would then tell me the next appointment but yeah i definitely like knowing the time line this time.

How’s everyone else getting on? X

@BambiOnIce80 sorry to hear it was pushed back. Hopefully you'll get in the following month. I'm booked in for all my scans so fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

elsiegoggings · 16/01/2021 10:25

Hello! Do you mind if I join you? I've started my period today and I want to do a FET this cycle. I feel like I might be slightly bonkers due to the current global situation but I just feel it's the right time. We have a 4 year old boy from our fresh cycle ivf and we got three embryos to freeze from that. I'm 40 now so time is ticking. If we are accepted this month I'm slightly worried it could be cancelled, but I'd have thought they'd know by now if this month will be ok. We are being treated in Birmingham. Smile

ThePurpleFairy · 16/01/2021 13:14

Hoping I can jump in this thread Smile I was on another thread back in Sept/Oct when I did my egg collection. We are doing IVF PGT-M and we received the wonderful news in December that we have 6 unaffected frosties chilling on ice. So now gearing up for FET with predicted transfer on w/c 15 March. I have an appointment to go through schedule on 11 Feb and should be starting meds around 20 Feb all being well. Good luck to all!

hopefulhel · 16/01/2021 13:38

Welcome @ThePurpleFairy and @elsiegoggings

BeHereNowx32 · 16/01/2021 16:44

So sorry to hear that @BambiOnIce80 😔

Hi to everyone else that joined.

I still haven’t had a letter about starting in February, but I will phone during the week. Just to make sure it’s all going ahead ok xx

pixelflower · 16/01/2021 19:50

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join in.
We've been trying for 5 years, referred 2019 and one appointment in the clinic last February where we were told we're unexplained and after a 3 month wait for my husband to stop smoking we were referred for IVF. Now waiting to start our first round.
Got all my dates in and start Norethisterone on the 30th before a baseline scan on 10/2.

CLP20 · 17/01/2021 00:31

Hi all!
I am an IVF virgin on the NHS train. Been a long 5 years to get here involving endometriosis, hubby with azoospermia, admin errors, sperm retrieval, clinic change and now we are finally here!
Starting Norethisterone tomorrow (Sunday) for 12 days. Scan on 28th, start injections on 3rd Feb. Hopefully egg collection mid Feb.
I’m on the short protocol as high risk of OHSS with high AMH.
Absolutely no idea what to expect!

dragonfly1978 · 17/01/2021 21:28

Hi everyone. Can I join this thread? Had an unsuccessful first IVF ICSI cycle in Nov/Dec last year and now booked for an endometrial scratch in mid Feb and then start second cycle on the 19th Feb. Wasn't sure I was going to go with another cycle but we have decided to go for it again.

Alexm06 · 18/01/2021 08:21

Wow a few new people welcome! @elsiegoggings @ThePurpleFairy @pixelflower @CLP20 @dragonfly1978. Hopefully this thread will pick up a bit more when we start treatment. I’m due to start provera on 5th Feb then injections start the 17th.

ThePurpleFairy · 18/01/2021 08:30

@Alexm06 yeah I don’t have much to say at the moment, not much is happening except anxiety! I’m dreading a cancellation phonecall due to the hospital patients increasing, every hour of the day that I don’t receive one is a small win. It’s going to be a looooong 24 days until the 11th Feb. Even if I get the call soon for my medication to be delivered will make me feel better!

Alexm06 · 18/01/2021 09:18

@ThePurpleFairy Is your one at a hospital? I haven’t seen that many peoples get cancelled I think they are trying their best to keep them so try not to worry but it’s easier said then done. My ones a private clinic that also does NHS. I had a cycle august last year which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage so this is my last go on NHS then will have to start saving if it’s unsuccessful. Waiting sucks! The worst is the 2 week wait I really struggled with that last time. Is this your first cycle?

OP posts:
ThePurpleFairy · 18/01/2021 10:11

@Alexm06 yes I’m at Guy’s hospital in London. I’ve seen some people have appointments cancelled on a Guy’s thread but it’s all just a waiting game really as I’m at a different stage in the process to them. This is my first FET, I had an egg collection in October which was my first, so I suppose this is my first full cycle yes. Because I’m going PGD (PGT-M) it’s always a freeze all while they check my embryos for my faulty gene. I’m sort of lucky in a weirdly unlucky way that because I have this genetic fault I get 3 full rounds of PGD with the NHS, though because it’s specialised I have to travel 200 miles to London for egg collection and transfer, with smaller appointments done at a satellite clinic about 60 miles away. It’s a very slow process also, we were referred in August 2018 and only just getting to first FET now, though covid is responsible for a small bit of the delay. Are you doing a full cycle with fresh transfer or have you got a frostie to put back?

Alexm06 · 18/01/2021 11:52

@ThePurpleFairy yeah I guess if your at a different stage they wouldn’t want to delay you. Well hopefully they won’t as by the sounds of it sounds like you would be in the middle of a cycle (logically) as you’ve had them taken out but not out back in. But yeah I know they don’t look at it that way but it makes sense to me haha. Oh wow that’s a long journey! Did you get referred there because of the testing or is that where you chose to go? Yeah we were referred may 19 I think then had our first appointment august 19 so even that was a few months. Another fresh cycle didn’t get any frozen but they have increased my menopur as I was on the lowest dose last time to try and get some this time. I really hope I do as I know it a bit cheaper when you have frozens to do it again.

elsiegoggings · 18/01/2021 14:17

@dragonfly1978 I'm having a scratch done too!
Waiting for a phone call today to give me my appointment dates. My period started on Sat. I'm doing a FET. Surely I'm crazy doing it this month? Worried about a cancellation but feel this is the time to do it! I like that we are all at home isolating (mostly) anyway. Good luck everyone xx

dragonfly1978 · 18/01/2021 14:49

@elsiegoggings good to chat to someone else going through it! My scratch is booked for the 11th Feb, am not look forward to it but they have recommended I have it so will just have to grit my teeth and go for it 🥴

Donimo · 18/01/2021 15:24

Hi All. Can I join this too please? I am hoping to start down regulation of buserelin injections on Friday (22nd Jan). This is my first IVF cycle and all quite an overwhelming procress. And would love to chat as I'm sure we all have multiple questions and worries (or maybe just me!) I have low AMH levels and my husband has low sperm count. Therefore we are having ICSI. Hope everyone is going ok with their cycles.

ThePurpleFairy · 18/01/2021 16:02

@Alexm06 yes I was referred straight for PGD when I was ready for it (family history triggered me to get tested for this fault and I was found to have it early 20s) - I’ve never tried to TTC naturally because this is the only way to guarantee the fault stops with me.

Fingers crossed for you that you get some in the freezer also this cycle! It’s definitely way cheaper to do FETs than it is to do a full cycle for sure. Another day not cancelled so I’ll take that as a win so far

Kitttycatt · 18/01/2021 16:09

Hello to the all the new joiners 👋

I haven't got anything to report, one week of down regulation done, two more to go!

I haven't heard of any cancellations at my clinic, I think the protocol is to try and carry on as normal.

CLP20 · 18/01/2021 19:11

Just out of interest, is anyone else having to self isolate for the treatment? We are having to do 10 days before baseline scan and then throughout treatment (5 weeks starting today!) and provide a negative covid test 72hrs before baseline scan and get a lateral flow test on day of egg collection.

Donimo · 18/01/2021 19:39

@CLP20 I was advised by my clinic to completely isolate from 2 days prior to egg retrieval when I will have a covid swab till after transfer. But to limit contacts and be extremely careful for 1-2 weeks prior to the covid swab. As if I test positive with the covid swab the treatment will be cancelled

Alexm06 · 18/01/2021 19:41

@CLP20 I had to self isolate through treatment last time which was about 3 weeks but no COVID tests. I’m assuming it’s the same this time round they haven’t said anything but yeah I’m assuming it’s the same.

Hi all,

Please can I join? I'm due to start on Norethisterone next week for a fresh cycle of IVF.

We are a same sex couple using donor sperm. We already have one DC from a previous cycle and have been trying for baby no. 2 for 2 years now. I had my last fresh round in August last year, followed by 2 FET and one cancelled round, all good quality embryos and BFNs. We tried to get DP pregnant a few times which didn't work, and this will be our 13th round of fertility treatment in total. DC was conceived on (fresh IVF) cycle 6.

This time we're upping the menopur and adding aspirin to see if that helps. I've also been taking CoQ10 and vitamin D in addition to prenatal vitamins.

I've never joined one of these boards before but I've lurked and it's good to know there are other people out there going through the same thing as you at the same time!

CLP20 · 18/01/2021 21:09

Looks like everywhere is doing it differently. It wasn’t originally meant to be that strict but our clinic have changed their requirements in this lockdown
