IVF February/March 2021

Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@CLP20 I know that at this moment in time it feels so completely disappointing after weeks and weeks of build up. I had mild OHS, just like @Mancbear88 said and could only crawl up the stairs, nothing fit over my huge swollen tummy and I just felt awful. Stupidly, I didn’t tell the clinic I was feeling so crap as I was desperate to get to transfer. There was no scan between collection and transfer for me and we went ahead and had an embryo transferred. My body was still in trauma from EC that I really do think that played a massive part in why that round didn’t work. My consultant said post transfer, she wouldn’t have gone ahead with the transfer had she known. I am still so angry with myself for potentially wasting that embryo because I was stubborn! Spend a few days eating and drinking whatever you want, you’ve earned it! April will come round in no time xxx

Looks like there's lots of progress here now! I hope everyone who has EC tomorrow is feeling ok for it. If it helps reassure anyone, mine was really smooth - sedation worked a treat, felt fine afterwards.

I have my first stims progress scan tomorrow (day 8). Has anyone else had cramping type sensations during stims? I'm getting some now and I don't remember this at all from my last cycle, which wasn't that long ago so I don't think I would've forgotten. Wondering if anything is wrong, or maybe follicles are growing faster this time and so making everything a bit squished.

Catlover8926 · 23/02/2021 18:04

Hi everyone hope you don’t mind me popping on, just wondering if anyone is being treated at birmingham women’s and their experiences?

IVFat43 · 23/02/2021 18:34

@Catlover8926 I’m at Birmingham Care

chloedancer897 · 23/02/2021 19:09

Hi, hoping to join you all here if that's ok.

I'm 35 and have been TTC#3 for 3 1/2 years with no success. All tests came back normal and no previous issues conceiving. We had a MC in May last year at 5-6 weeks. Should be starting IVF treatment in May but may be starting clomid next month.

GingerBrummie · 23/02/2021 19:39

Evening all,

Thanks for the link @Mrbay I will listen tonight

@CLP20 so sorry to hear you have a delay, as everyone has said, take this time to get yourself in best possible shape for you transfer, it will come round quickly.

For anyone having EC tomorrow & this week best of luck. Btw... i was told to remove my bra as it was wired & you can have no metal but they said wireless bra (sports bra etc) is totally fine. So maybe you ladies wanna wear that!

Nix49816 · 23/02/2021 19:53

@Mrbay & @GingerBrummie you both got amazing numbers, well done! God luck for your results tomorrow, get a well deserved sleep. Think I slept better last night than I have in a fortnight now EC is over!

thetallgirl · 23/02/2021 20:12

Wow lots has happened today! Congrats to all those who had EC today & yesterday. Looks like we have some really good numbers.

When I left the clinic Monday morning it seemed my trigger was going to be Monday evening ready for EC Weds. however, clinic called that afternoon and pushed everything back by a day. Then they called again today, to push it back a further day. I was out of Ovaleap so had to do a 90 min round trip to the clinic. Booked for a scan tomorrow AM and hopefully will get to trigger tomorrow. I think reason behind the delay is that one ovary was ahead of the other, so they're hoping that it catches up. Fingers crossed it looks good tomorrow.

RichmondLady1981 · 23/02/2021 21:11

@thetallgirl I’ve heard this happening a lot with other ladies. The outcomes are always positive. Pain you had to do all that travelling.

@GingerBrummie congrats on amazing numbers

@CLP20 I really believe it’s all for the best- you still have your embryos

@chloedancer897 hello 🙂! You’ll learn lots about the process in these forums. Will be good for when you actually go ahead with IVF.

Starting feel a bit uncomfortable now. Keep keeping waves of heat around my pelvis and down my legs a little. Should I be worried? Anyone else get this?

Good luck for everyone with EC tomorrow. Have a little bag packed with magazines, treats and comfy clothes. Hoping to get a nice sleep 💤

CLP20 · 23/02/2021 21:55

Thanks @Kitttycatt @Mrbay @GingerBrummie @RichmondLady1981

@Mancbear88 @JessTTC Thanks for telling me that. It doesn’t take away the disappointment but it helps to know it really is the right thing to wait.

@willithappen Might see you on another thread in a couple of months then!

Thanks everyone for all the support on this thread. Baby dust to you all xx

MrTumbleTumble · 23/02/2021 22:19

I'm very behind - busy day at work today! There have been some v successful egg collections, brilliant numbers collected and fertilised! Keeping fingers crossed for everyone that they keep going until blast stage.

Sorry to hear about the OHSS, it's always gutting when a cycle is cancelled but from hearing what the other ladies say about their experiences, it's definitely for the best, and your body will be nice and rested ready for embryo transfer.

@ivfat43 I'm at Care Birmingham too!

Good luck for egg collection tomorrow everyone who has it - hopefully we all get some good ones! I probably won't sleep much tonight though in anticipation..!

Blessing12 · 23/02/2021 22:22

@GingerBrummie wow fantastic amount of eggs.

@thetallgirl the round trip sounds like a real bummer but if its for the best, we have come this far whats another day or so, if its to mature those follies its all for a good cause.

I have my bag packed and alarm is set, bring on the morning.
Good luck those having EC this week.

IVFat43 · 23/02/2021 22:23

@MrTumbleTumble oh really... small world, what stage are you at?

MrTumbleTumble · 23/02/2021 22:32

@ivfat43 egg collection tomorrow, how about you?

IVFat43 · 23/02/2021 22:40

@MrTumbleTumble oh good luck with it.. I had EC 2wks ago, we got 21 eggs, 15 fertilised and ended with 5 blastocyst, all off for PGT-A testing. It’s our 1st and only try at ivf so we’re throwing everything at it..
Don’t forget your robe and socks and nil by mouth.., they’ll give you some biscuits when you wake, it takes about 2.5hrs.. all the best, hope you get some lovely eggs xx

willithappen · 24/02/2021 06:25

Up earlier than needed this morning due to the nerves!
Hoping I'll be home just after lunch. We don't get sedated for egg collection at my clinic so recovery time is quicker and I think we are in there for about an hour and a half but not sure. Kinda of wish I was getting put for a nice sleep!
Hopefully have an update for you all in a couple of hours! 3 hours until EC!

Good luck everyone else going for this today!

Blessing12 · 24/02/2021 06:33

Good luck @willithappen im in the same boat wide awake nervous.
I'll be sedated tho thankfully, not sure id be able to do it awake.
I could murder a cuppa to ease the nerves.

I'll be back soon with an update.

thetallgirl · 24/02/2021 06:38

Wishing you all the good vibes today @Blessing12 @willithappen and everyone else with EC today

RichmondLady1981 · 24/02/2021 07:10

@Blessing12 @willithappen me too! Bag of nerves here! Good luck to you! X x

Kitttycatt · 24/02/2021 07:31

Good luck @MrTumbleTumble @RichmondLady1981 @Blessing12 @willithappen and anyone else I've missed. It will be over before you know it!

MrTumbleTumble · 24/02/2021 07:52

Thanks @ivfat43, I understand the feeling of wanting to throw everything at it, keeping my fingers crossed you get some good ones out of your 5!

I'm also nervously waiting to go - I don't need to leave for 2 hours but I'm pretty much ready already and don't know what to do with myself! Thanks for all the best wishes, and good luck to @RichmondLady1981 @Blessing12 @willithappen and anyone else I might have missed.

RichmondLady1981 · 24/02/2021 07:59
