Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@willithappen and @Blessing12 yes it can be taken for trigger shot. I’ve just taken dual trigger shots this eve as part of my protocol.

Suprecur is what I’ve injected which is actually the same hormone as buserelin. Just a different name.

I’ve taken it with Ovitrelle 250.

Pansy222 · 23/02/2021 06:29

Good morning ladies

I’ve had a pretty horrendous 24hours. Saturday evening was my trigger and i was also given a drug called Cabergoline to prevent possible OHSS. I woke up Sunday with the worst nausea but no abdominal pain. I stayed in bed.
Monday 8am egg retrieval. I was initially told 10 collected but the embryologist came to see me and it’s 17!
(This is my second fresh cycle the first one back in 2016 we retrieved 12, 5 went on to be day 5 blastocysts. Only one Resulting in my 3.5 year old son. )

Yesterday I was very very sick after the egg colllection, as well as the pain from the operation I was vomiting Even after a little water. It’s been suggested the drug used to prevent ohss can also cause sickness so I’ve now stopped taking it. So 24hrs of no food and very little water.

Today Tuesday I’ve woken up a little better and already managed a piece of toast and half a cup of tea.

I hope you are all okay and resting up also.

Hop27 · 23/02/2021 07:21

Hope everyone is doing ok ! 4 out of my 7 fertilised! Pretty pleased with that 💕

Kitttycatt · 23/02/2021 07:50

@Hop27 great fertilisation rate ☺️ I hope you hear some positive updates this week.

@Pansy222 so sorry to hear you have been unwell. I didn't get any sickness just really bad bloating and tenderness after EC. Great number of eggs. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

@Hopeforsuccess I'm on progesterone, have been taking pessaries since last Monday. I've found the symptoms building up slowly from then - like sore boobs and slight cramping. Some people don't get anything though so don't worry!

Mrbay · 23/02/2021 08:37

@gingerbrummie - good luck!! I'm just waiting to go in

@Motherofkittens28 - I know IVf is tough but I hate that they always go straight to donor eggs. Have a look at Care's live insta video from last night they were discussing about how to maximise egg yield from poor responders

Nix49816 · 23/02/2021 08:40

@Hop27 wow everything seems to be going great, hope it continues this week!!

@Pansy222 amazing number of eggs. Such a shame you're so unwell, fingers crossed it will all be worth it soon!

Kitttycatt · 23/02/2021 08:43

Best of luck @Mrbay @GingerBrummie

Pansy222 · 23/02/2021 08:57

Thankyou all,

Fingers crossed for us the next few days.
11 have fertilised over night. No more news now until Saturday as they do t check again.

Sending well wishes to everyone

IVFat43 · 23/02/2021 09:01

@Pansy222
Sorry to hear that you’re suffering so bad 😢
Hope you’re better soon

You’re story is like mine from 2wks ago.
I had suspected OHSS, they changed my trigger shot from Gonasi to Buserelin and prescribed Gabergoline for 8nts from trigger shot evening. I had 2 bad nts up to EC, but was advised I must continue and to take the med as soon as I was ready to sleep, which I did at 11.30pm and I had no problem. They’re being extra cautious to avoid hospital admission due to covid.. I also had to continue feyremedal for 4 mornings.. speak to the clinic, I bet they can help you..

I had 21 eggs collected, continued the med and had a scan 2 days after EC.. and luckily I was fine x

willithappen · 23/02/2021 09:22

Thanks @RichmondLady1981 I didn't have any other injection to take for 'trigger' just buserelin - would that be normal? I think I got that due to the OHSS risk

Also, does OHSS symptoms start before egg collection or will it only happen after egg collection? This time tomorrow I'll be ready to go! I think I'm more scared of OHSS than egg collection now!

Mrbay · 23/02/2021 10:49

@pansy222 - great numbers!! Sorry that you had a rough night but sounds like you're starting to feel better today. Have you had your update yet today?

@hop27 - yay!!! That is utterly fantastic news!! Everything crossed for great day 3 and day 5 updates.

No update for me yet as I don't know how many eggs were collected but I know that there were eggs so I'm happy!
Sorry for those waiting for their collection, but my after pain was not great, think moderate period pain but I do have endo so I had an attack of that too! Oh and had a cyst popped so cannot leave until the nurses are comfortable with the flow.

Pansy222 · 23/02/2021 11:00

@Mrbay hi 👋🏻 hope your feeling okay. I’m much better today thank you. 17 eggs collected yesterday , called this morning and 11 have fertilised. We dont get an update now until day5 on transfer day

Mrbay · 23/02/2021 11:16

Update - I got 8 eggs!! I cried when the embryologist told me - previous cycles have been 3 and 2!! Clearly less drugs are better for me!!

willithappen · 23/02/2021 11:39

Fantastic news @Mrbay so chuffed for you!

RichmondLady1981 · 23/02/2021 11:40

Hi ladies. So happy to hear so much great news.

@Mrbay that’s truly amazing about the number of eggs. How many did they view on your scan?? Was that more than you’re expecting? Sorry to hear you’re in pain. You truly deserve your maccy Ds later. 💕

@Pansy222 wow 22 eggs. Phenomenal! I hope you feel much better soon!

@willithappen no idea about when to expect symptoms. I don’t think I need to expect any symptoms with my itsy bitsy 5 eggs 😆. I have heard that this particular trigger is used as it’s reduced the symptoms of OHSS after collection but still works in the same way. A study showed that more eggs were mature on collection using this strategy. Let’s see. I’m sure it is normal- these guys know what they are doing.

@Hop27 so pleased for your 4 fertilised eggs. Amazing. Xx

Sorry if I missed anyone out! Looking forward to hearing more progress.

ladies who have recently had egg collection- what do I pack to take with me?? Anything you’d recommend? Hot water bottle? Gin? 😂

Motherofkittens28 · 23/02/2021 11:48

@Mrbay thank you so much for your kind words and congratulations on your numbers today! I'd be really interested to hear what changed for you this cycle, you mentioned fewer drugs?
Hope you are able to leave soon and relax at home!

Nix49816 · 23/02/2021 11:51

Had the call from the clinic 10 eggs, 8 of them fertilised!! Pretty hopefully with that, they are aiming for Saturday transfer assuming any of them are good enough 🙂

Mancbear88 · 23/02/2021 12:26

@Hopeforsuccess I’ve been doing that too - I’m not sure it does anything but I’ll give anything a go!!

@RichmondLady1981 warm socks and comfy/baggy clothes

Some fantastic news for other people - looking forward to getting lots of positive tests 🤞

Mrbay · 23/02/2021 13:45

@pansy222 - that's utterly fantastic news!!

@willithappen - thank you! I'm still in shock!

@RichmondLady1981 - I had 9 follicles but only 3/4 were expected to be at the right size come collection day. Even the consultant was shocked!
Regarding what I took this morning, I wore stretchy clothes! I was pretty bloated and tender over my belly so couldn't pull up my yoga pants! I took my phone, sharps box (should have kept it as I have lubion to take 🙈). My clinic provide tea/coffee/ water and biscuits for after transfer. Oh and a pad! I forgot mine so got the lovely inch thick ones!

@Motherofkittens28 - I went from long protocol to short. Was one buserelin and bemfola (375 I think) on both previous cycles. This cycle was ovaleap 150 and Frey something) I didn't take DHEA for this cycle. Oh and had a fibroid removed. No major lifestyle changes, still had the odd drink, drunk coffee and have had lots of sugar!!
Supplement wise Pregnacare max, b12, vit d, folate and ubiquinol.

@nix49816 - that's amazing news!!! I bet you are well chuffed

I'm finally back home, managed 50% of my mac ds. I had issues with having a wee, so they didn't want to let me go until I had a full normal wee, I was only letting 30/50mls go and I had a bit of heavier bleeding than normal.

GingerBrummie · 23/02/2021 13:48

Hi all,
I havent caught up yet but I did read @Nix49816 great numbers on fertilisation, that a brilliant number & @Mrbay also brilliant news on your improved number, good to see they have changed the protocol to your advantage.

I had my EC earlier today & back home now. The whole procedure was super smooth & i felt nothing & still feel nothing, currently pigging out on sofa. NHS were all brilliant & husband was there whole time (not in theatre though)!
I got 19 eggs collected so waiting for call tomorrow, very nervous. Im at risk of OHSS so drinking plenty of fluids, light walking & salty food!
Good luck to those with EC tomorrow, I so loved being put to sleep!
P.s, I asked nurse if I could drink wine now (that was my first question!) & she said no as I will be taking antibiotics for next 5 days, darn!

CLP20 · 23/02/2021 14:08

Hi all,
It appears I have OHSS. Told my clinic I was still feeling unwell and very bloated and uncomfortable and they did a scan to check before planned transfer yesterday. Sadly they found too much fluid in my abdomen and said it would be too dangerous to continue, so we are having our 3 embryos at blastocyst stage frozen and will have to wait to have a FET. Looks like maybe April.
I know it’s the right thing to do but can’t help feeling so disappointed that we are now out this cycle.

Good luck to everyone else.

Kitttycatt · 23/02/2021 14:23

@CLP20 so sorry to hear that. It's for the best though as a pregnancy could make you really ill. At least for the frozen you will be well rested and fighting fit. The extra wait must be so annoying though! 3 embryos is a great number.

@GingerBrummie @Mrbay I'm glad your egg collections went well, really hope you get some great fertilisation rates tomorrow.

Best of luck to everyone going in tomorrow

Mancbear88 · 23/02/2021 15:08

@CLP20 I know it’s disappointing but it’s the right thing to do. I went ahead with mine last time (my oestrogen doesn’t rise so despite fluid and being huge/feeling terrible they allowed it) and I’ve honestly never felt as ill in my life. I couldn’t get out of bed for days and I couldn’t walk for 5 minutes for around a month. I looked 9 months pregnant. I remember crawling up the stairs crying as I couldn’t stand up!
I believe that FET are just as successful, and they are definitely easier. Pour a wine and relax Smile

Mrbay · 23/02/2021 15:51

@gingerbrummie - what fantastic numbers!!! Glad yours was pain free, unfortunately for me this collection has been the worst - last two were no more painful that a filling!

@clp20 - I know it's a massive disappointment but at least you do have some in the freezer ready to transfer.

In case anyone wants more info on embryos, I watched the following vid last night and it was really useful - www.instagram.com/tv/CLmwjTJH5hz/?igshid=fmt3r57q2bqs

willithappen · 23/02/2021 16:20

@CLP20 I'm in the same position as you! Egg collection is tomorrow though.
They do say frozen cycles have more success so that's one positive to take from things. Focus on keeping yourself healthy and then we will both smash it when it comes to egg transfer later
