Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Morning all, best of luck to the ECs today!
@willithappen No sedation, wow, let us know what its like. Strangely I would have liked to be awake, I had 6 people in the room for mine & just wondered what they were all talking about?!
@Mrbay brilliant news for you, that must have put you at ease. Im still waiting for my call, mega nervous.

GingerBrummie · 24/02/2021 10:38

Literally just had the call, 11 out of 19 got fertilised. ET on Sunday X

willithappen · 24/02/2021 10:46

Not long finished, 17 eggs collected.
Back in day ward wand waiting for more info and to be released

MrTumbleTumble · 24/02/2021 11:31

Also back in recovery now after 7 eggs retrieved. My numbers get lower every time we do this so it's hard not to be disappointed but we've really been focusing on quality this time so keeping my fingers crossed a good number fertilise.

Last year we got 10, 7 mature and 3 fertilised. All 3 made it to blast stage and were suitable for freezing so reminding myself it's quality, not quantity that's important.

hopefulhel · 24/02/2021 11:36

Ladies the doctors just been in and she told me they collected 17 eggs. I should get a call tomorrow to let me know how many have fertilised. Then the next call with be next Tuesday (day 6) to see if anything made it to be frozen

hopefulhel · 24/02/2021 12:21

Sorry that should have read 16 eggs

Blessing12 · 24/02/2021 12:22

Hey ladies,

Did not feel a thing out for the count, retrieved 5 eggs which I expected to be honest.
So I'm happy guys, now to wait till tomorrow for an update.
I'm home now.

How are use ladies

willithappen · 24/02/2021 12:30

Oh gosh I felt a LOT for mine, even though I was pumped with pain meds! Feel totally fine now though and also on my way home

Time to recover and keep fit and healthy for transfer in April!

Mrbay · 24/02/2021 12:55

@MrTumbleTumble - I am over the moon!! I feel that this will be our round! Just seen your update regarding numbers, 7 is really good and it really is quality over quantity - everything crossed for you.

@GingerBrummie - everything crossed for you. Just seen your update, that is fantastic news!! I am think Sunday will be a lucky day!

@hopefulhel - yay! Fantastic news!!! Good luck for your day 1 update.

@Blessing12 - don't feel disappointed, that is a fab number!!
I felt quite a lot this time, and was in moderate pain afterwards.

Blessing12 · 24/02/2021 13:06

@Mrbay I feel good as im hoping they are good quality and fertilise, they will call me by 12 tomorrow with an update, so if all goes well I'll be very happy.
They said do I have any questions, I said no quite a question, but give me plenty of that anesthetic lol.
I want a triple Gin please.

Sorry to hear you felt abit this time, no sure how id cope if i had felt pain.

Motherofkittens28 · 24/02/2021 13:43

@Mrbay thats great news, congratulations! I had my second scan this morning and amazingly my 8, 10 and 11 from Monday are now all 14! Im so pleased. I'm doing an extra two days of stims and then another scan Friday to see if we can do egg collection Monday. I'm well aware that they might not all have eggs or be mature but three follicles gives so much better chance than the two I was expecting after Monday!

Mancbear88 · 24/02/2021 13:46

Has anyone heard the tradition of McDonald’s chips after ET? I’ve had two transfers and not had them so far but I’m going to pop to the drive in after on Monday. I believe it’s to do with avoiding OHSS and it’s a FET so of no use, but now some people think it’s good luck so no harm Grin

RichmondLady1981 · 24/02/2021 14:09

Hi ladies. All done and back home. Didn’t feel a thing- was out for the count and not in any pain really.

A little disheartening for me. Out of 5 possibles they only collected 3 eggs in total. The other two follicles were empty- these things can happen apparently. Cannot fault the service and bedside manner of all the staff- amazing. The cookies they offered were awesome too- managed three of them.

All I can do now is hope and pray for a bit of a miracle and a bit of magic sparkle in the next 5 days. Try and include me in your prayers tonight ladies. Promise to do the same for you too.

Huge congratulations to everyone - lots of promising numbers. X

Motherofkittens28 · 24/02/2021 14:13

@RichmondLady1981 wishing you all the best with those 3! Hoping they all contain a bit of magic for you! Im in a similar boat as I'm only looking at 3 follicles, if they all continue to grow well.

hopefulhel · 24/02/2021 14:24

@mrbay hopefully some of the 16 fertilise. It's a waiting game now but our bit is done for the time being. Going to relax now for the afternoon on the couch

Kitttycatt · 24/02/2021 15:35

@Mancbear88 yes, I heard this and so had some after my transfer on the way back from Accupunture! Thought I'll cover all bases 😂

@RichmondLady1981 it only takes one as they say. Fingers crossed for you this week xx

willithappen · 24/02/2021 15:38

@Mancbear88 I've heard of it yeah and went straight to McDonald's for their chips after egg collection today! I think it has to do with the sodium and like you said being good for preventing OHSS but a McDonalds trio is always good!
I'll be going again after transfer lol

Mrbay · 24/02/2021 16:05

@Blessing12 - you deserve it!! I didn't manage a drink last night but I'll be having one later :)

@Motherofkittens28 - that's fantastic, nice to see that they are all sharing nicely!!

@Mancbear88 - ref chips, apparently something to do with salt and implantation - I mean I need no encouragement to eat that crap but if it helps, I'm all for it! I think it goes along with the brazil nuts and pineapple core.

@RichmondLady1981 - I hate to use the phrase as it does grate on me, but it only takes one. I always think, of it like this, you have gotten over the first hurdle, there are eggs. Everything is crossed for you and I do hope your prayers are answered.

@hopefulhel - that is fab news! Everything crossed for Day 1 update.

Just thought I'd try to lift the mood of those not getting the results you wanted, it might not be useful but I do find fact reassuring.
Naturally a woman with no issues only has a 27% chance of getting pregnant at each cycle, IVF improves that to a max of 33/35% for most clinics.
After 3 full cycles - over 90% of couples will go on to have a live birth. I know that it is a hardcore process, that is wrapped in science but I for one, am happy that we have this science to at least get a chance.

For those with low AMH (like myself) and low AFC, there has been some research into a double stim cycle, I've not managed to get the data but in essence, you stim like normal go for EC when most follicles are ready collect what is available, and then stim again 5 days later to help get the remaining follicles ready with mature eggs. the studies have shown an increased clinical pregnancy rate with this method for poor responders . Ok, found some further information www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6010525/

in other questions - who is with me for a G&T tonight??

Blessing12 · 24/02/2021 16:48

@RichmondLady1981
I will pray for us all tonight but it is about quality not quantity thats what i keep telling myself anyway. Good luck im sure we will be just fine.

I did have mc donalds chip on way home but couldn't eat much to be honest, ill also get them after transfer Monday 🤞

GingerBrummie · 24/02/2021 17:03

Hi all,

Another busy day!

@hopefulhel great news re 16 & best of luck for the dreaded phone call tomorrow, same with @willithappen & especially well done on not being sedated!

@MrTumbleTumble you are so right, its definitely quantity over quality. Ive heard lots of success stories about more natural or mild IVF rather than being over stimulated with lots of eggs so good luck X

@Blessing12 5 is also a solid number, Im really hoping you get a good number at tomorrows phone call.

@RichmondLady1981 I also hate saying it only takes one but its so true so please try to stay positive & look after yourself.

@Mrbay thanks for the info, always good to learn something new. I would sooo love a G&T but as I was given antibiotics they said I couldnt drink 🙁

My next update will be Fri when they are at Day 3. The clinic said I may get called in for ET on Fri otherwise it will be Sunday Day 5. Im hoping for day 5 as Ive read they have better results. Anyone else just wishing this journey would end?!

X

Rachae · 24/02/2021 20:54

Some really positive and wonderful updates all round! I'm so pleased for everyone and fingers crossed xxx

Mrbay · 24/02/2021 22:24

@Blessing12 - yep, it's totally quality over quantity. I've seen stories of ladies getting 30 eggs and ending with 1 glasto. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

@GingerBrummie - ref the day 3 vs day 5 debate - the embryo is better in your body as nature intends (or not in our case!) But day 5 is when naturally the embryo would hit the uterus ready for implantation but lots of woman have success on both days otherwise they wouldn't offer day 3.
My clinic will only offer a day 3 if small numbers and one is clearly the best as they can get lots of info between day 3 and 5.

Anyone else really bloated? I'm so gassy and desperate for a bit of action but I'm too uncomfortable to even think about sticking anything else into my lower half!

I've started progesterone today, the cyclogest and lubion - perhaps too graphic but I'm back to chuckling when my bum sucks them up for me, like a little lift delivering my goodies to the correct floor 🤣🤣

IVFat43 · 24/02/2021 22:25

Lovely to hear so many positive posts today, remember it is quality over quantity and the old saying “it only takes one” sending good vibes for blastocyst..💕 Take it easy now, rest and relax!

Ps, the McD chat has made me laugh!

willithappen · 25/02/2021 07:32

@Mrbay I am decked at the lift comment 😂

So far I'm feeling good still after egg collection, a bit of cramping yesterday and maybe slightly this morning but less. Don't feel as bloated but was a bit gassy last night. I was also keen for a bit of action 🙈 but realised I had no idea if it was allowed or recommended against and Dr Google didn't help me much either!

2mumlife · 25/02/2021 08:26

So I went for my first (and last!) progress scan yesterday (8 days of stimulation), and, in the words of my clinic I've 'taken the fast track' so we took trigger last night, for EC Friday.

The number of eggs people are getting collected seems to high! Its our first go so not sure what to expect in terms of how many of my smaller follicules will be useful, and what they'll get on Friday.
