Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

@jonrik @Gardenlady543 thank you, this rings a bell now.. is it from day 2? I can always ring the clinic and go through it all again (I hope) 🤔

Gardenlady543 · 22/01/2021 20:12

@IVFat43 definitely give the nurses at your clinic a ring to talk through the protocol if you’re unsure of anything. I have been quite surprised by how little information my clinic have given me about when to take what.

hopefully21 · 22/01/2021 20:44

@jonrik thanks yep but I'm 41 and doing pgs testing. Need a good number to have a chance of getting a normal embryo. Staying positive though. It only takes one!! Can't wait to have egg collection over with!

IVFat43 · 22/01/2021 20:50

@Gardenlady543 they have been pretty poor tbf and I think I’m accepting of the excuse “we can’t because of covid” but when you consider this is a private service, I do expect a little more.

Especially when I did ask a “covid related” question Monday; do I need to shield 2wks before egg collection, (something I was informed necessary to avoid any risk of losing money or a treatment), they said No! ..I was quite surprised

IVFat43 · 22/01/2021 20:54

@jonrik ah we’re doing PGS too... the only downside is the additional wait.. where are you on the protocol? I’m just finishing norethisterone and waiting for day 1 to start..

jonrik · 22/01/2021 22:00

You've got a promising amount @hopefully21, I'm sure you'll get a good outcome!

@IVFat43 so I'm on a quite a short protocol I think. I had Prostap on cd21 and then started Menopur last week. Egg collection will hopefully be next week, fingers crossed! What's next for you?

hopefully21 · 22/01/2021 22:30

@jonrik and @IVFat43 so we are all on similar time lines and doing pgs. It's a long process with pgs and fet.

jonrik · 22/01/2021 22:36

Exciting @hopefully21! I'm not doing PGS, does that delay the process a bit?

hopefully21 · 22/01/2021 22:45

@jonrik pgs will only be carried out on day 5 or 6 blasts. They take a tiny sample of cells and test. Results take 2 weeks then you have to do fet. It's to tell if the embryo is normal or not. I'm doing it due to age. If in early or mid 30s I wouldn't bother. I did it during last full cycle had 2 normal embryos 1 failed transfer last sept but one successful transfer which resulted in my now 2.5 Yr old little lady.

hopefully21 · 22/01/2021 22:46

@IVFat43 I'm doing pgs in Dublin. You? London?

hopefully21 · 22/01/2021 22:47

Ladies I have to take trigger at 10:30pm tomorrow and transfer is at 10:30am Monday. The nurse never meant fasting..I presume I need to from night before? I left a message with clinic but no one called me back.

Birdladybird · 23/01/2021 09:26

@hopeful21 I couldn’t eat after midnight and only small amounts of water/black coffee or tea on morning of EC. I had a general anaesthetic.

My ET went well. I’ve got one very good embryo on board, one very good in the freezer and one more that they want to watch for a few more days as it could go either way Grin I’m so pleased as I thought we would get nothing again.

kikisparks · 23/01/2021 09:58

@Birdladybird fab news! Congrats on being PUPO!

Great news @Birdladybird!

Had my scan this morning - lining is 7.7mm so transfer end of next week. Woohoo!

hopefully21 · 23/01/2021 11:02

@Birdladybird thanks for that. Congrats on being pupo!! Fantastic you have at least 1 more in the freezer!

kikisparks · 23/01/2021 11:58

@MF1981 that’s great!

PT8998 · 23/01/2021 14:12

Congrats @Birdladybird 🥰

Doremifasol · 23/01/2021 15:12

@Birdladybird great result!!!
I've had my EC this morning, all went well but only 6 eggs were collected, I can only hope they are good quality ones!
I feel quite weak, my blood pressure is low and can barely walk to the toiletteConfused. Is it normal- to feel like I am going to pass out?

RichmondLady1981 · 23/01/2021 15:13

Hi ladies. Starting my first ever IVF next week. Pills for two weeks then start injecting. Short protocol. Low AMH and not many follicles. 39. Reading your posts makes me feel so much more positive about things. Great to hear so many of you are getting embryos! Congratulations!

RichmondLady1981 · 23/01/2021 15:18

If you don’t mind me asking- I know it’s hard to tell, but if you could have to have a stab in the dark guess. How many embryos should I be expecting with

Age 39
6 follicles. (Found at initial consultation)
AMH 2.5.
FSH 11.
(Have 19 month old boy - natural conception first month of trying would you believe!)

I’m thinking if I get one embryo I’ll be lucky? Thinking I may even need a few cycles to get one embryo right?

Would really appreciate your honesty and positive stories.

I’ve asked my consultant of course but Id like to hear what you ladies think. Thank you so much 💕

hopefully21 · 23/01/2021 16:22

@RichmondLady1981 I've read that stats suggest 50% of embryos make it to day 5 but everyone is different. I had 10 eggs 1st cycle, 10 fertilised, 4 made it to day 5..no success from any. 2nd cycle 10 eggs again, all 10 fertilised again and 6 made it to day 5. I did pgs 2 were normal failed fet 1 my beautiful miracle little lady!
