Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

I also read on a few sites that Vit E and L Arginine are good, I’ve ordered the E and thinking about the L Arginine.

Mancbear88 · 21/01/2021 12:27

@MF1981 for my lining which is usually very thin (without drugs I’m never more than 3mm) I use the following:
Vitamin E
Pomegranate juice
L’argine
Raspberry leaf tea
Omega 3
Pomegranate juice

I’ve done some fertility massage with caster oil and some fertility yoga from YouTube.

Honestly though the thing I think made the most difference is just throwing all the oestrogen possible at me - double dose tablets, pessaries and patches.

It made it to 7.5mm last time.

hopefully21 · 21/01/2021 12:30

I found this: For women, there is no scientific evidence about it helping your reproductive potential, but the recommended dosage is to consume 250 mL (or 1 cup) of 100% pomegranate juice daily throughout your cycle to improve blood flow.

MF1981 · 21/01/2021 12:43

Thanks guys. The clinic have told me to continue on current dose which is 3 progynova tablets a day and booked me in for another scan on Saturday morning. Not much time to get it thicker between now and then! I’m really scared it’s going to be cancelled.

Mancbear88 · 21/01/2021 13:04

@MF1981 for my first FET my lining was 4.2mm at scan one, it was cancelled due to Covid and lockdown one but they said that if it hadn’t have been they would’ve tried for another week with extra oestrogen (patches or pessaries) they might be able to add it in for an extra week if it’s too thin on Saturday.

hopefully21 · 21/01/2021 13:04

My lining went from under 8mm to above in 3 days so fingers crossed!!

MF1981 · 21/01/2021 13:37

That’s interesting to hear @Mancbear88 and @hopefully21 - can you remember what yours went from and to in those 3 days?

hopefully21 · 21/01/2021 13:51

Sure. It went from 5. Something to 8.6

Doremifasol · 21/01/2021 15:57

Just wanted to share- I'm having my egg collection on Saturday. There are 13 follicles but I think only 5-6 are decen size ( as of yesterday). There is an issue with my left ovary which is very difficult to be seen on ultrasound hence I was warned they might not be able to collect any from that side as it could be risky😧 we'll see! I am taking Ovitrelle tonight- I hope it's easier than Cetrotide as I really disliked that one. Good luck to all!

Gardenlady543 · 21/01/2021 17:18

@Doremifasol I think they can still grow a bit, I had 11 the whole way through stims and then ended up with 12 eggs. I think there were 12 follicles in the end, but sometimes follicles can have more than 1 egg in. I hope they can see your left ovary on the day! Try to have a nice relaxing day tomorrow ready for the collection and I hope it goes really well for you Smile

Gardenlady543 · 21/01/2021 17:22

The nausea has continued with the vaginal route of estradiol which hopefully is a good thing as it means they’re being absorbed despite being designed as oral tablets. I have got some ginger root oil and have had it in my diffuser. Luckily no more vomiting but I’m off food. First scan is tomorrow morning, so I’ll have to see how that goes.

Lola98 · 21/01/2021 19:05

@Gardenlady543 good luck for tomorrow 🤞

kikisparks · 21/01/2021 20:15

@Gardenlady543 good luck!

hopeful182 · 21/01/2021 20:28

@MF1981 If you can, try eating 1 to 2 brazil nuts.(no more than that though) Apparently the selenium in them helps with the lining and implantation. This is my 3rd cycle so I am trying anything to make it stick. Xx

hopeful182 · 21/01/2021 20:43

@unknownscot I get the frustration with getting >20 eggs just to freeze, and it certainly is quality over quantity, however it might be worth asking if they are willing to do a fresh transfer if you are not suffering ohss of course, or other health issues.
Its just I had 37 follicles which resulted in 28 eggs, I am at risk from ohss and did feel FULL but felt physically ok.
Unfortunately those eggs very quickly went down to only 5, then 3 with 1 a definite freeze and 2 almost there. I asked the DR to do a fresh transfer as I didn't want to miss an opportunity that it could stick even if it wasn't quite a blastocyst yet if that makes sense, and after some discussion they agreed.
I am glad did it even though it didn't work, it would not have been frozen so I hated the thought of a missed chance. Plus the good one that was frozen, Unfortunately did not survive the thaw. So even though I only had 1 transfer out of 28 eggs at least I had that 1 chance.
Anyway if the DR had said a definite no, that my health was at risk I would not have done it, but I was very lucky that I didn't have major symptoms.
Might be worth a try. Are you feeling ok? > 22 eggs is amazing.
I am working on quality this time, ermm if there is any way to do that. Scan booked for 27th to check.

unknownscot · 21/01/2021 21:31

@hopeful182

Thanks, that's interesting to hear and good to know and read about.
I had 22 eggs on my first round and only 1 blast which was unsuccessful and was down graded after thaw so it is a concern of mine.

I physically feel absolutely fine. I'm back in for a scan tomorrow so may broach the subject.

Thanks
X

Tarsette · 22/01/2021 00:37

@MF1981 I have lining issues as well. I do:

  • Gonal F 150 ui
  • raspberry leaf tea
  • Coq10
  • Brazil nuts
  • flax seed powder

For the first time I am going to try acupuncture as well. Don’t particularly believe in it but ready to try anything as this will be my last cycle!

jonrik · 22/01/2021 08:28

Little update from me. I had My scan this morning. 24 follicles, most of them of a decent size already (9days of stims) and quite thick lining. We'll probably wait a few more days but it's all looking good for EC mid next week! Smile

Good luck to everyone!

Gardenlady543 · 22/01/2021 08:29

Thanks @Lola98 and @kikisparks

I had the day 10 FET scan this morning, they said my lining is 7.4mm, they say they like it to be 8mm on day 12 so today’s measurement is fine and they don’t need a blood test and don’t expect they’ll need to do another scan. I was a bit worried that I won’t be absorbing as much oestrogen with the vaginal route, but they expect the transfer will be day 19-21 and as far as I’m aware 7mm is fine for a transfer and it should get a bit bigger in the next 9-11 days anyway. I also asked if I can go straight into another FET after if unsuccessful and she said there would need to be a plan with the consultant as they usually need a 1 cycle break between, but it is possible.

Gardenlady543 · 22/01/2021 09:03

Also there is a fluid collection on my left ovary which has been hurting, so I assume something that’s happened as a result of the EC.

kikisparks · 22/01/2021 09:23

@Gardenlady543 oh that’s such good news about your lining! When do you find out about your transfer day? Do you have to start progesterone now? Sorry about the fluid collection on the ovary and pain, the EPU told me I had a mass on my ovary after EC, I still don’t know what it was but I had another scan a few weeks later and it was gone.

@jonrik that’s really good news! Good luck for egg collection.

@unknownscot good luck for your scan today.

Agog123 · 22/01/2021 09:39

@Gardenlady543 congrats on lining - fingers crossed for you for ET!

Gardenlady543 · 22/01/2021 09:46

Oh that’s reassuring to know @kikisparks it’s been 2 months now since my egg collection. How long after EC was the scan that picked up your abnormality? I don’t really want a painful cyst forever more, so hope it resolves.

My clinic have a lunchtime meeting and then call in the afternoon, so will be calling up to discuss when to start the progesterone (usually this is started 5 days before transfer at my clinic) and the transfer day this afternoon. I expect it will be a week on Tuesday as they will be doing a progesterone blood test the day before and my clinic is shut on Sundays.

Gardenlady543 · 22/01/2021 09:47

Thanks @Agog123 I don’t really know much about lining I think I read that it needs to be somewhere between 7-12mm.

@jonrik sounds like things are coming along nicely for you!

Birdladybird · 22/01/2021 09:56

I’m having my ET today. Last one was cancelled as none of my embryos made it. I’ve not had the dreaded phone call today so I’m scheduled to go for transfer at 2.15pm! So blooming nervous.
