Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

@MF1981 that's interesting..you have the vivid dreams as well. Has to be the meds! What are you taking? I'm on 300iu menopur 150iu gonalf and cetrotide. Was on fematab for 10 days before stims.

Anyone doing pgs?

Mancbear88 · 19/01/2021 21:34

@EasterBunny7 I believe it’s cumulative success rates that rises, so each cycle it’s 20-30% but after three cycles 50-60% will be pregnant or have a baby (not sure on the actual percentages). If that makes sense.

Lola98 · 19/01/2021 21:44

@unknownscot I know how you feel, my husband works away too and I have been to all appointments on my own. It’s so difficult for him to come back to Scotland because of Covid and quarantine. Fingers crossed your husband makes it back 🤞

MF1981 · 19/01/2021 22:11

@hopefully21 I’m doing FET so am on Buserelin and progynova at the moment 🤷‍♀️

hopefully21 · 20/01/2021 07:17

@MF1981 best of luck. I did an Fet in sept. Just took fematab. It failed unfortunately. I did an fet in dec 2017 which was successful thankfully. I have 2.5 Yr old daughter. Both fets were with pgs tested embryos.

kikisparks · 20/01/2021 07:17

@Birdladybird fingers crossed for Friday!

Gardenlady543 · 20/01/2021 08:30

So the estradiol side effects have moved up from nausea to vomiting, has anyone else had this? when I moved in bed last night I had to reach for the bucket.

I called the clinic this morning and they said they need to check what to do with the doctor, they said they may need to change me to a vaginal formulation.

So far this FET feels worse than my fresh cycle, I am constantly hormonal and nauseated, all to help with the timing of the transfer so it doesn’t fall on a Sunday when the clinic is closed.

Agog123 · 20/01/2021 09:28

Hello everyone this is really random, not sure the right thread but I’ll intro myself.

30, motility issues, one round of IVF with ICSI and three blasts frozen. Two back in over the last 5 years and I now have a boy who’s 4 and a girl who’s 1.

I have been pregnant before, but I get to 30- 35 days of a natural cycle and it ends, I’m convinced it’s low progesterone. I am pregnant again, and currently 30 days. I called Care notts who I have had treatment with, they’ve posted a utrogestant prescription first class in post yesterday, and I’ve found a pharmacy that can order in and get it next day... but it’s literally a race against time. I’ve hunted through the house (I felt like a crazed addict) trying to find a few leftover pressaries but we moved house just before Christmas we chucked it all out.

I have never felt more convinced this is life or death for my little line :( I’m desperate to get my hands on some progesterone!!!!!!!

IslandStars · 20/01/2021 09:56

@Agog123 Could you not go to your clinic to get some? Most clinics keep a small supply in stock for emergencies.

IslandStars · 20/01/2021 09:58

I mean, clinics keep a supply of medicine in stock, such as the stims, i don't know if pessaries are always kept in stock, but would be worth asking.

Agog123 · 20/01/2021 10:13

Because it’s a natural cycle and not a FET or anything they said they can’t give me their stock reserved for treatment patients but were happy to write me a script. Agh!!

IslandStars · 20/01/2021 10:16

Oh i see, in that case, could you not call your GP, maybe they can write your a prescription over the phone so you can pick it up straight away?

PT8998 · 20/01/2021 10:18

Has anyone had a day two embryo reported as “dividing at a quicker rate”? If so, what was the outcome? I’ve been doing some reading and I’m not convinced I’ve got an answer!

Thanks!

Agog123 · 20/01/2021 10:19

I’ve moved house and literally just registered to new practice, called the GP yesterday who (poor thing) said he had no idea about fertility prescriptions and I was best placed to call private - so I’ve got the private prescription, they just sent it in the post rather than me coming to collect it from clinic this morning (Covid regulations...) and so I’ve got to wait for it to turn up, to then take it to a pharmacy who won’t order it in until they’ve seen the prescription. Honestly feels like every piece of red tape is trying to get in the way!

IslandStars · 20/01/2021 10:28

Hope your post comes quickly then, the wait must be so frustrating. GP doesn't sound very helpful to be honest, i don't think he needs any specialist knowledge to know what a progesterone pessary is, but i find GPs on the whole have been completely useless and unwilling to help with anything during Covid!

Agog123 · 20/01/2021 10:31

I’ve left a message on the nurses line to say please, can you sell me some as I doubt I’ll get the post til tomorrow, and then the prescription won’t arrive until Friday and by that time (as history will repeat) I’ll start bleeding by day 32, if not earlier.

Agog123 · 20/01/2021 10:33

Thank god for mumsnet and you guys who actually understand the gravity of this!!

kikisparks · 20/01/2021 10:57

@Agog123 sorry to hear you’re going through this. No advice on how to get the pessaries I’m afraid. I miscarried my last pregnancy just after stopping progesterone and the consultant said progesterone definitely won’t be the reason but I’m skeptical of that. Hope you get a good outcome.

@Gardenlady543 gosh that sounds awful. I haven’t started the estrogen pills yet, think I’ll get them tomorrow when I go for my scan. I’m now having hot flushes and disturbed sleep nearly 2 weeks after the prostap injection so I’d been kind of looking forward to estrogen starting but I’m a bit worried now!

@PT8998 no experience, sorry. I had heard something about quicker developing embryos might be more likely to be boys. Mine were mostly slow growing and 3 out of 4 only became embryos on day 6.

kikisparks · 20/01/2021 10:58

Only became blastocysts at day 6 that should say!

MF1981 · 20/01/2021 11:35

@kikisparks hopefully you’ll be ok - I’d started to get the hot flushes and disturbed sleep too but it settled almost immediately after I started taking the oestrogen tablets. I’ve been absolutely fine on them so far - taking 3 a day currently. Everyone reacts differently to different medication.

In fact, has anyone else found an increased need to pee whilst being on meds?!

@Agog123 I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this - you must be feeling so panicked. Just a thought - could you try any other private clinics in your area to see if they can help? Or try and push the clinic to allow you to fetch the prescription. My clinic will bring paperwork out to you in your car so that might be an option?

Gardenlady543 · 20/01/2021 11:38

Thanks for the reply @kikisparks hopefully you won’t get these side effects. I think nausea is quite common and I had this since I started, but that’s manageable, I was just a bit off food. But a sleepless night as I was vomiting bile into a bucket was horrendous! I have quite a strong stomach, I have only vomited twice in my life! So I just think these hormones are a huge shock to my body.

I feel I was pushed into a medicated FET when I said I wanted natural, I was told that access fertility probably won’t cover natural by my clinic. But I just called Access and they said it’s no problem and there is no cancellation fee if it falls on a Sunday.

I think I’ll have to persevere with this cycle for now, I was told by my clinic to put the tiny estradiol tablet in my vagina rather than take it orally. Perhaps I’ll know more when I have my scan on Friday. If this is unsuccessful then hopefully I can try natural in the future although I read they have to do a monitoring cycle first.

Mancbear88 · 20/01/2021 11:43

@MF1981 yes I didn’t stop peeing! Kept having to get up in the night!

PT8998 · 20/01/2021 11:51

@kikisparks I did reply but it looks like it didn’t post.

I have read that as being a possibility, I hope that’s just it. I have also read that it’s not such a good thing and the contradiction of that it’s a strong embryo and is a good thing! Ha! I can’t figure it out!

Tarsette · 20/01/2021 12:47

@Emmalouise11 I would say early congrats are definitely in order! Hope you get some more dark lines!

@Lola98 and @PT8998 congrats on getting to these important milestones. IVF feels like a series of hurdles you have to cross one after another and you’ve already got some big ones done!

@Gardenlady543 sorry to hear you’re not feeling well on the oestrogen. One small consolation is that if you do get pregnant this cycle (and I hope you do!) you will have less morning sickness as your body will already be used to all the hormones (that’s what happened to me in my successful cycle)...

As for me, I have another 4 days to go until AF turns up and then I can start drumming to grow my lining for FET! Can’t wait to get started!
