Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

@Gardenlady543 yep! I clearly don’t do things by halves! Pain is slowly subsiding compared to 24-48 hours ago. Still tender to touch all around the ear and can’t chew/swallow properly. I’ve not slept for more than 1.5/2 hours per night for three nights so I’m quite tired. I’m still deaf on that side too so, overall, getting there! 😂

That’s so sweet of you, thank you. I am
Glad it’s early morning Monday, gives me hope to be back to work by the end of the week! I feel so guilty about the time off work as it is!

I have no clue what direction they’ll go. With my PCOS, a natural cycle could be an age. I always hit CD90 and have a bleed induced with norethisterone, so unless this knocks me into a “normal” cycle routine straight after, then it could be some time! Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait! 🤞🏼

@PT8998 you’re allowed time off work, I was just in afternoons the week of collection and then took a week of annual leave for the week after. If I hadn’t then I would have needed to have taken some sick leave. You need to get over this ear infection, get the collection sorted and then have some time to catch up on sleep before going back. It’s best for you to be back in a good state rather than rushing back too soon. I’m sure you’ll start feeling better soon Flowers

PT8998 · 15/01/2021 18:59

@Gardenlady543 you’re absolutely right. I am just that person who needs to be at work else I feel guilty for not being there! Even with a valid reason to be off.

Thank you so much 🥰

Doremifasol · 15/01/2021 19:19

Since it's been mentioned- how long are you ladies planning to be off work after egg collection? I've read many many posts on mumsnet and it really varies some people saying they walked to work straight after egg collection to other extreme like recovering for a week. I know it's individual but just curious. I work from home and was planning to take 2 days off. Hope it will be enough.

PT8998 · 15/01/2021 19:28

@Doremifasol I’ve got no idea! I am contending with an ongoing ear infection too, which I need to ensure has gone before I head back. I was just going to see how it goes! Probably at least a few days to relax and recover, do a couple of walks with my dogs and see how I cope. I have a very manual job, so I can’t afford to go back too soon unless I do admin work for a short while to ease myself back in.

Sunbird24 · 15/01/2021 19:46

@Doremifasol I had one day off, was fine after that just a bit bloated.

MF1981 · 15/01/2021 19:46

@Doremifasol it entirely depends on the person and how many eggs they get too. I had 22 eggs from 26 follicles and was really poorly for a week after. But I know others who had less eggs were fine after a day or two.

Doremifasol · 15/01/2021 19:52

@MF1981 sorry to hear that😧

kikisparks · 15/01/2021 19:54

@Doremifasol I couldn’t have worked the day of egg collection, I was in quite a bit of pain and also had nearly collapsed when I got home (think this was due to anaesthetic as the other time I had anaesthetic I fainted in the hospital). I possibly could have worked the day after but I’m glad I took it off. I went back to work 2 days after egg collection which was fine.

MF1981 · 15/01/2021 19:54

@Doremifasol thanks! I’m fine now and nearly at the end of my FET cycle 🤞🏻

Gardenlady543 · 15/01/2021 19:59

@Doremifasol my specialist was quite strict with me and said 2 days off minimum, I was worse the few days before it, I have a AFC of 34 and was in quite a bit of pain. I‘d taken leave because I didn’t know when the collection or transfer would fall so picked a good window.

Lola98 · 15/01/2021 20:14

@Gardenlady543 thank you 😊

I had my egg retrieval yesterday and had 10 mature eggs. They called this morning to day 9 had fertilised. Fingers crossed I get quite a few day 5 blastocysts. If I do have any blastocysts I am getting ember to transfer on Tuesday. Keeping everything crossed as only got one 5 day blastocyst last time and it didn’t work.

Gardenlady543 · 15/01/2021 20:17

@Lola98 that’s some great rates of maturity and fertilization! Fingers crossed you get some nice strong ones and a really good one for Tuesday!

Lola98 · 15/01/2021 20:55

@Gardenlady543 thank you 😊

I am 42 so fingers crossed 🤞 this is our last attempt.

How are you?

Gardenlady543 · 15/01/2021 21:22

Ah bless you @Lola98 well you have the numbers on your side! I

I’m on day 3 of FET so just plodding along on my oestradiol, I don’t think there will be much to report from my side for a little while, that feels quite nice Smile

Lola98 · 15/01/2021 21:38

@Gardenlady543

Thanks 😊

Try and have time to relax for bit 🤞

Gardenlady543 · 15/01/2021 21:43

@Lola98 you too! I hope you have some nice things planned and that the little embryos grow really nicely, you’ll have to give an update on Tuesday!

hopefully21 · 16/01/2021 08:13

Is anyone on 300ul of menopur using a 1200ul vial? I did my fourth dose last night and there was some liquid left in the vial. Is this normal?

Lola98 · 16/01/2021 09:04

I will thank you 😊

Lola98 · 16/01/2021 09:05

@Gardenlady543

Lola98 · 16/01/2021 09:07

@hopefully21 I wouldn’t worry if it was just a small amount, I’ve had some with a little left and I got a good amount of eggs 😊👍

hopefully21 · 16/01/2021 10:25

@ lola yeah there's exactly 100iu left. Really strange as I'm positive I took the right dose. Husband checked too. No air at top..very strange. I'll let nurses know and hope for the best.

Bells3032 · 16/01/2021 10:40

I think they often put a tiny bit extra in in case you mismeasure one. Wouldn't worry too much

Sunbird24 · 16/01/2021 14:23

I have my LH surge today! Next step is supposed to be blood test in 7 days to test progesterone, but I’m guessing that will have to be either Friday or the Monday after. Fingers crossed that’s at a decent level as then I won’t need much medication for my FET next month...

MF1981 · 16/01/2021 16:31

Have any of you who have done an FET before had a really heavy uterus feeling in the days leading up to transfer? I feel like AF is on her way and that’s not what I need!
