Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

Hi ladies, I started FSH gonal F yesterday and this evening when I thought I’d finished the injection I took it out and checked the window and it still had 25 on it. I had read if this happens use a new pen (is this because usually it would have been finished, rather than me just not pressing it down hard enough?) because I used same pen to administer the last part of the injection and the window is now at 0 - but now I’m over thinking and worrying I should have used another pen, although there’s still 400 in this pen - has this happened to anyone else 🙈🙄

hi @Bells3032 I was also worried about Covid as it could stop my first and only free/NHS founded round of ICSI.. my clinic said that if me or my partner get it, they will have to abandon that cycle and of course next trial we will have to found ourselves.. we just bought a house so we would have to wait until we have enough savings for the next one so I really was freaking out with Covid.. I did exactly what you are planning to do, I went into isolation but only 1 Week before my period and took the test around the same time. if you can isolate two weeks before your period and do your test 4-5 days before your period to allow the results to arrive that will defo reduce your chances of going into IVF with potential covid.. they are now also doing the new tests when results arrive in 30min so potentially you could look to repeat the test just before you begin the treatment.. good luck !

Hi all hope you don't mind me joining I had a FET on Thursday 7th after a failed fresh cycle in October.... looking for some support and advice and just ppl who are going through similar to me thanks

MF1981 · 09/01/2021 09:59

I’ve seen a couple of you are worried about covid. My clinic made us sign to say that we would self isolate from starting stims to egg collection as they said that’s when it’s difficult to stop things if you catch covid. I don’t know if that helps?

Rani123 · 09/01/2021 11:08

I was supposed to start in Jan 21. Originally was supposed to be May last year . However I keep getting cysts on my ovaries, has anyone had that. I had a miscarriage after fresh cycle last year where I also had cyst but that seem to be ok. This time it will be a FET and they've said I need to wait however everytime I go for a scan I always have cysts.

Has anyone had this problem. Lots of sleepless night at the mo.

walshh091186 · 09/01/2021 11:09

AnnaM1987 · 09/01/2021 14:27

Argh... I did the pregnancy test 4 days after transfer and ‘no pregnant’.. I know I shouldn’t but was so tempted 😩 Feel terrible.. regret it greatly already.,

Freya2015 · 09/01/2021 15:05

Motherofkittens28 · 09/01/2021 15:19

Hi all, can I join? Today is my day 1 for my first long protocol ivf cycle, would be great to get some support and share experiences with others going through similar.

DogMamma16 · 09/01/2021 16:00

@AnnaM1987 are you ok? Hope you're feeling ok and try again in a few days.
@Motherofkittens28 welcome. I did long protocol for my first go back in September and it wasn't so bad really (except the no pregnancy part). What drugs will you be taking? Presume you're starting on day 21?

Motherofkittens28 · 09/01/2021 16:24

Thanks @DogMamma16. Yes, start the drugs on day 21. Im going to down regulate with buserelin and then on to the highest dosage of the FSH stimulation but I dont think they have told me which one yet. I'm nearly 39 and have low AMH so chances for many eggs aren't great but luckily I had some eggs frozen 4 years ago so have 6 eggs in the freezer, just hoping not to need them! We've been ttc for 16 months now with no hint of a bfp at all. NHS told us unexplained infertility, although I do have endometriosis, unfortunately I'm too old to qualify for NHS IVF so we are on our own from here on out. Good luck to everyone I can only imagine how stressful a cycle is, particularly when we are all locked down with little else to distract us!

Sunbird24 · 09/01/2021 16:59

@Motherofkittens28 I also had long protocol late last year but no baby, so will be transferring 2 of my frozen ones next month. Have they said why doing a fresh cycle is better than defrosting an egg and fertilising it? Hope you get a good result!

Kitttycatt · 09/01/2021 17:02

Hello all Smile

Ok if I join? I started down regulation today using buserelin. I’m on cycle day 9 as my clinic assign you an egg collection date and work back from that if it makes sense. It does mean I have to down regulate for 3 weeks. However, this is my second time down regulating as it didn’t work for me in Nov/Dec as I developed two cysts on my ovary and they had to stop treatment due to the Christmas closure. So I never got to the stimms stage. I know how frustrating it is @Rani123 when things don’t go to plan. Apparently it only happens 5% of the time. Dreading they find more after this session of down regulation but trying to be positive!

I’m 35 and we have MFI so need ICSI. Would be great to have someone to go through this with as I don’t know anyone in a similar position. I’ve had 4 pregnancy announcements from friends since Christmas! X

Motherofkittens28 · 09/01/2021 17:12

Hi @Sunbird24 sorry to hear your first cycle didn't work, fingers crossed for the frozen ones! To be honest they did suggest using the frozen eggs at the same time but I didn't want to. It reassures me that they are there in the freezer, if I used them straight off and none of them fertilised or they didn't survive defrosting I don't think I could cope. I know its silly but I would rather try a fresh cycle first and have them to fall back on.

Rani123 · 09/01/2021 17:28

@Kitttycatt thank you for your messages, I'm also on an ICSI, I'm 38 and this is my last embryo so not sure what happens after that if it doesn't work.

Just trying to stay positive at the moment. I feel for you but let's stick together ❣️

Kitttycatt · 09/01/2021 17:38

@Rani123 how many cycles have you had? Are you with the NHS? Fingers crossed this one works for you. When do you start medication?

Doremifasol · 09/01/2021 18:12

Hi all, I'm trying to follow all of your stories, but rarely posting. Blush I am due to start Bemfola 125 on Tuesday Grin. now this might be a silly question but here it goes- I'd really like to keep active, how likely it is I will be able to go for an hour or two walk a day with swollen ovaries? Confused I tend to sufer A LOT during regular unmedicated ovulation time ( pain, bloating, nausea, bleeding... you name it!) so I am kind of prepared for the worst with stims, but want to keep active at the same time ( and sane!).

Rani123 · 09/01/2021 18:23

@Kitttycatt Ive only had 1 cycle which was a fresh one. I only got 2 good eggs which 1 was frozen. I'm on the NHS cycle. I had a scan this week to hopefully start FET but the cysts have appeared so have been told I need to wait. I was supposed to have the PROSTRAP jab .

Kitttycatt · 09/01/2021 19:16

@Rani123 Have they told you how long you have to wait. So frustrating!

@Doremifasol I'm sure a brisk walk should be ok, I suppose it depends on how you are feeling.

Mancbear88 · 09/01/2021 19:30

@Doremifasol I’d just play it by ear but a lot of people are fine with gentle exercise.

I had 42 follicles I was uncomfortable for the final week, but nothing really bad (post egg collection was a different matter I couldn’t have walked then I could barely get out of bed).

Doremifasol · 09/01/2021 20:14

@Mancbear88 do you mind me asking were your 42 follicles a result of OHSS? How long did it take you to recover from egg collectio?

PT8998 · 09/01/2021 20:31

Hey everyone, I am on day 4 of Ovaleap and it's my first cycle of IVF. I am on the short protocol for PCOS, and potentially having EC week beg 18th Jan. I had my baseline scan on CD5, I had 52 follicles on the ultrasound. I am due my next scan Monday, so we will see how I am responding then!

Good luck to everyone who has started or due to start soon!

Mancbear88 · 09/01/2021 20:34

@Doremifasol well my oestrogen never rose much so they said it wasn’t OHSS, but I had all the other symptoms.

I wasn’t well at all though after, it took around 6 weeks to feel fully ok, and at my 12 week scan my ovaries were still swollen with fluid on them. I was on stims for extra time as my lining was slow to react.

My oestrogen is extremely low all the time, for my FET I was on 4x the normal dose of oestrogen.

However, that’s very much not the norm so don’t let it scare you or put you off! I’d do it again even with that.

Rani123 · 09/01/2021 20:51

@Kitttycatt. No they haven't, will recheck next week to see if they have reduced.

MF1981 · 09/01/2021 22:50

Hi @Doremifasol I had 26 follicles and 22 eggs and I ended up with ohss. I wasn’t feeling too bad in the run up to egg collection - could walk around etc but felt a bit uncomfortable when sitting just towards the end of stims. I was fine the day after egg collection but then went really downhill. It took me a week or so to start to feel better and then another week for AF to arrive which lasted about a week itself. After that I felt pretty much back to normal. But as @Mancbear88 says that’s not really the norm and most people feel absolutely fine so I’m sure you will be too. Try not to worry!
