Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

@elsiegoggings yes we are getting packers in. they are also doing a viral fog on the new house to avoid covid. We are about to embark on our first cycle in January (hopefully). it's been a long journey of waiting for various test results and a few set backs etc but fingers crossed we can go ahead now. very anxious.

It's weird cos we've never tried to conceive (as we were aware it would be an issue) so trying to get my head around the "we might get pregnant and be parents" thing too

Hello! Just thought I’d try this community out and this thread seems spot on. I started buserelin for my FET on 27th Dec for a transfer early Feb. Fresh cycle failed back in October and tried to go natural in Nov but my LH surge fell on a day which meant I couldn’t have my transfer (clinic closed on weekends). I’m super against having so many drugs for my cycle and am feeling so bitter my clinic won’t do any alternate ways but it is what it is. Only 29 injections to go 🙌🏼 Anyone else find the NHS process rather challenging?

unknownscot · 30/12/2020 19:00

Hey. Just checking in - I had my prostap injection today so should hopefully start stims in a couple weeks 🤞🏼✨

Emmalouise11 · 30/12/2020 19:47

Hey all, started progynova on the 27th for a FET have a scan on Monday and if everything’s alright should have the transfer the following week, so it’s quite quicker than I thought it would be.

@DogMamma16 I’m with the nhs and apart from the delay when coronvirus started I haven’t found it that bad, suppose it depends on the hospital. Hope your not finding the injections too bad.

elsiegoggings · 30/12/2020 21:05

@Bells3032 good that you are having packers. 😁 I hope it all goes well.

Ahhh it's a huge change when you become a parent but it's amazing (once you get over the initial shock!) 😂 I can't remember life without my little boy. Enjoy your lie ins while you can. 🥰

Good luck, I hope it goes well, is it a fresh cycle?

Bells3032 · 30/12/2020 21:07

@elsiegoggings hopefully fresh as long as nothing goes wrong. My folicle count is about 10 so ohss is unlikely. If there are spares we are freezing and testing for a future sibling.

elsiegoggings · 30/12/2020 21:11

@jonrik hopefully things will be a bit more normal soon anyway. 😊🤞

Defiantly feels different from when I did it before (4 years ago) x

I don't start my progynova for a few more weeks. You're so lucky it's nice and short. My FET cycle is actually going to be longer than my fresh which is what upsets me so much. I'll be changing clinic after this one though as I was lucky enough to have three embryos popped onto ice. So after this attempt there's two more at a new clinic. That's very exciting yours is just around the corner. Fingers and toes crossed for you @Emmalouise11
IVFat43 · 30/12/2020 21:33

Hiya, could I join in please..

I’m 42, suffered an Ectopic, now with 1 tube and about to start our 1st ivf in January with tablets to stimulate the ovaries 12th Jan... feeling so nervous xx

elsiegoggings · 31/12/2020 09:04

Anyone else here doing treatment in Birmingham?

IVFat43 · 31/12/2020 14:48

We are at Birmingham Care xx

MrsB2021 · 31/12/2020 15:24

Hi all!

I start my 2nd cycle in January after 4 failed FET. All my embryos were grade A's but all frozen due to hyper simulation after egg retrieval. We had 21 eggs all fertilised and 4 went on to be viable embryos for transfer. The first 2 transfers ended in miscarriages both at 6 weeks, and then 2 negative results. All they are putting it down to is chromosome abnormalities. All our results look amazing on paper especially for a my age (41)
Just so hard to keep the faith that hopefully at some stage we will be successful. Feeling anxious going in to my 2nd cycle. Sad

Mancbear88 · 31/12/2020 18:29

HFEA have put out a new statement- doesn’t say a huge amount though

DogMamma16 · 31/12/2020 19:17

Oh shoot @Mancbear88 - and i doubt none of us will know much more on if clinics pause until Monday? Has anyone heard anything yet from their clinics?

jm2020 · 31/12/2020 19:56

Hi @elsiegoggings I'm at Create Birmingham :)

Got my second monitoring scan on Saturday and it is looking like my egg collection will be on Monday Argghhh! Excited but nervous.

Hope you're all ok xx

Happy new year everyone. Let this be the year we all become parents!!!

I started the new yesr with a zoom party. Was meant to be just us and another couple but said they could invite others. So they invited all their local friends who spent the whole time talking about their babies. The only ones I knew were my ex and his wife. This friend has just had her baby after three years of trying on her 5th round of ivf. So she knows about where things are with us as I went to her for advice. Feeling like. It was a tad insensitive. I mean I am not the type to get jealous of others and get all upset but was a bit much tbh

Mummytosaoirse · 01/01/2021 12:57

I’m currently doing egg share - short protocol due to have Icsi in feb - first treatment was ivf which ended in zero fertilised, had fresh round of icsi which was successful, had FET which failed now doing egg share feeling so anxious this time round tho xx

Dogmum1992 · 02/01/2021 09:28

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join?
Felt like I needed to join a forum with people who understand the TTC challenges after my best friend announced her pregnancy yesterday after just 2 months of TTC! So happy for her but also can’t help but feel a bit jealous.
My background:

  • Age 28
  • TTC since July 2017 (3.5 yrs)
  • Never been pregnant
  • Surgery Nov 2019 confirmed stage 3 endo - but apparently did remove it all so am now treated as unexplained
  • DH normal sperm (although one test did show slightly low morphology but others were fine)
  • Since surgery 6 months of clomid (no BPF)
  • IVF - Long protocol - started buseralin 23rd Dec, awaiting AF and scan on 7th Jan
  • With CARE Tamworth, although egg retrieval will be at Birmingham

Interested to read all your comments about progesterone, I did have a test last year that showed that mine was lower than they expected so will push for more detail on this on Thursday.

Hope you’re all doing okay, not sure about you but making it through the holidays is always a tough one but new year now and hoping that 2021 will bring us some baby dust! X

Freya2015 · 02/01/2021 09:55

Well i emailed my clinic on Tuesday they said the trust is reviewing the situation I don’t think they can cancel a cycle on such short notice

I am due to start taking northesterone on 4th jan for 5 days then 5th June I have an appointment with the nurse

I really hope nothing gets cancelled

Freya2015 · 02/01/2021 09:56

Opps i meant 5th JANUARY

Emmalouise11 · 02/01/2021 10:36

I’m with the nhs and my clinic are doing FET, consultations, IUI and ovulation induced cycles but have cancelled egg collections, which I think is quite unfairbif you have already started medication for a fresh cycle 😕

Mummytosaoirse · 02/01/2021 10:37

Hello and welcome

I had a similar story to you found out I had endometriosis after 15 yrs of pain and husband has low morphology sadly ivf didn’t work for us as none fertilised but Icsi was a success, we are now trying for baby number 2 so currently in treatment doing the egg share programme I will be having Icsi again

Everything crossed for you x

Dogmum1992 · 02/01/2021 10:53

Thanks @Mummytosaoirse
Yeah it’s so bad how long it takes to get an endo diagnoses but at least we have them now. I did ask about ICSI on our planning appointments but they said that we didn’t need to do it because the latest sperm tests were okay... let’s see though!

Finding it hard to balance being excited that we’re finally starting IVF after what has already been such a long battle but also with some realism that it might not work first time. X

Dogmum1992 · 02/01/2021 10:54

@Mummytosaoirse fingers crossed for you too that this second ICSI works again for you xx

Freya2015 · 02/01/2021 12:35

@Emmalouise11 where abouts are you ?

I am with St Heliers and have had no information they said if my cycle is suspended they will let me know
