Hey!! I will hopefully be starting in February (depending on AF) so I’m really early just waiting for a chat to start haha.
I had my first cycle of ivf in August which was successfully but sadly ended in a MMC. I’m hoping it will be beginning of feb so I could be in this chat!

Hope this cycle is more successful for you! X

jm2020 · 23/11/2020 11:15

Hey @Alexm06 Sorry to hear about your mmc :(.

Lets hope you're AF will be on time :) What clinic are you with? xx

@jm2020 no defo not too soon, it’ll be here before we know it! Sorry to hear about your failed cycle, I think we were in the October group together!

@Alexm06 sorry to hear about your MMC. I miscarried at 6 weeks after a fresh transfer.
Are you having a fresh cycle or FET?

I’m looking to have a FET in January all being well. Any tips on how to prepare?!

jm2020 · 23/11/2020 11:51

@Raggity19 yes we were! Sorry to hear about you MC :(

I cant help on the FET I'm afraid - I'm having another fresh as we had no surviving embryos from our last round.

What clinic are you with? x

@jm2020 yeah I hope so too! I ended up having to have medical management so yeah god knows when it will come. Then I have to have another one in January where they will then put me on provera on day 22 or 23 to then start injections on the next cycle.
I am at a clinic in East Sussex. How about you?

@Raggity19 will be a fresh cycle again as I didn’t get any frozen. They are increasing my menopur to hopefully get some frozen. I was on the lowest dosage last time as I’m 31 and they are unsure as to why I cannot get pregnant but responded well, so they say. What about you?

jm2020 · 23/11/2020 12:12

I'm starting progynova on cd21 then injections from cd2 on my next cycle.

I'm with Create Birmingham :)

@jm2020 care Nottingham. We had none our first round, but 4 this round so used 1 with our fresh cycle and have 3 frozen. @Alexm06 ah I was on menopur too, I think 225. They tried to start me on the lowest dose but I asked them to up it. I’m 31 too! Ours is MFI, DP has azoospermia. But this was my second miscarriage, I had one aged 19 so I’m having a few blood tests to see if there’s anything else going on before we start again. What tests have you had? Unexplained infertility is so frustrating! X

jm2020 · 23/11/2020 12:28

Did they do anything different your second round @Raggity19? They said about progynova from day 21 of previous cycle to help my lining and they are going to check my progesterone levels day of transfer as I bled halfway through 2ww and didn't even make it to test day before my period came.

We have unexplained infertility as well - We had a MC last year in April after I fell pregnant naturally, which is the only time in 5 years of trying we have ever got pregnant.

@Raggity19 yeah I think that’s what I’m going to be on this time hopefully get some frozens as this is the last try on nhs.
I had an ectopic pregnancy at 19. I’ve just had the normal tests I believe they don’t think the ectopic has anything to do with this one so they aren’t not testing for anything right now.

@jm2020 unexplained is the worse you just want to know what’s wrong. The only test they couldn’t do was the dye one as the dye started going into my veins and it was really bloody painful!! So the doctor said not to do it again as it would probably happen again. They did find a cyst which seems to appear every time
I have a scan on my period but is gone the next week so they aren’t worried about it

Raggity19 · 23/11/2020 13:00

@jm2020 yes a few things! So first round I was on 300 then 450 Meriofert, double trigger, got 14 eggs 9 mature but 0 fertilised. Then this round 225 menopur with half a trigger (no idea why to be honest) and we got 9 eggs but only 6 mature. But 4 fertilised and all 4 made it to 5 day blasts. My DP had his sperm taken at the same time as my ER so that it wasn’t frozen as they think maybe the freeze and thaw killed it last time. Did you take progesterone as a supplement too?

jm2020 · 23/11/2020 14:31

I’m having a double trigger this time aswell @Raggity19

No I didn’t take it as a supplement just utrogestron 3 times a day as a pessary xx

OP posts:
Raggity19 · 23/11/2020 14:56

That’s what I meant sorry pessary not supplement! That’s what I had too, I started spotting from my OTD for 2 weeks and my HCG level dropped which is why they said I miscarried. Haven’t actually bled or had pain though. I might ask them to check my progesterone levels too in that case as surely the pessary should prevent it? Double trigger should definitely help with egg maturity. X

jm2020 · 24/11/2020 15:52

Yeah the pessary should prevent bleeding - I don't think I was absorbing mine so I might ask about injections aswell @Raggity19.

I hope I get more mature eggs - I'm petrified to go through it again :( xx

Raggity19 · 24/11/2020 19:59

@jm2020 I was too but just remember subsequent cycles are usually more successful because they know how you respond. We’ve just had our review and the consultant basically said we were unlucky and he wouldn’t change anything with our FET. He said I can have heparin shots as a precaution although not sure how they’ll help. X

Mrbay · 27/11/2020 00:23

Hi all, can I join in?
I'm starting our 3rd cycle at the end of jan, will be short protocol this time so fingers crossed it yields good results as I'm pretty fed up of being a pin cushion now!

jm2020 · 27/11/2020 08:41

Fingers crossed @Raggity19 😀

Hi welcome @Mrbay was there lots of needles with long protocol then? I’ve only done short protocol xx

OP posts:
Mrbay · 27/11/2020 10:08

thank you @jm2020

Yeah it includes down regs from day 21 which then delays my period so it takes 4-6 weeks from first injection to egg collection.

What was the reason for your clinic putting you on short pro?

@Raggity19 - how do you find Care? I'm with their Bath branch and they don't feels as test heavy as their website and instagram videos suggest.

Banana2010 · 27/11/2020 11:00

Hi all hope I can join too! we are starting mid Jan 2021 with ABC Clinic. First time for us after 2x miscarriages and one ectopic😒 3 years of TTC for number 2.

Raggity19 · 27/11/2020 12:27

@Mrbay hello! Which tests do you mean? I’ve only had blood tests by request for HCG. Had a few scans but no check in hormones etc and not a single Covid test! X

Mrbay · 27/11/2020 13:13

welcome @Banana2010 - sorry you are here but fingers crossed for a successful round. You must have great vitals to be able to go with ABC :)

@Raggity19 - oh much the same as mine then! A fight to pay for anything on top of the standard IVF needs! I just wondered if they tested progesterone throughout the cycle.

Raggity19 · 27/11/2020 13:18

@Mrbay no 😡 I was really annoyed actually because I started spotting around OTD and wanted it testing but was told I had to wait for my scan! X

Banana2010 · 27/11/2020 14:03

@Mrbay correct, so far all results good and no obvious issue ( well apart from missing one tube)but as I said its been 3 years and a lot of pain and dissapointment! I feel so positive and excited now that we are finally doing it...

Raggity19 · 27/11/2020 15:22

@all so my clinic have said that I can have tests for Thrombophilia screen
Anticardiolipin
Homocysteine
Lupus anti-coagulant but it’s £635. OR they will prescribe me inhixa - does anyway have any ideas on what to do? I don’t even really know what inhixa is! I might set up another thread on it actually too. X

Mrbay · 27/11/2020 16:17

@Raggity19 - same here - I haven't bleed early with FET just both fresh ones. But no, let's not bother doing a few simple and cheap blood tests! Tempted to get them privately via medi checks and get my friend (nurse) to draw the blood.
But fab news about the thrombohilipa screening, I'd hazard a guess that inhixa is a bloody thinner - give me a second I'll ask my nurse friend!

@Banana2010- hopefully this will by pass the tube issue and you'll get your BFP. Actually, lets go step by step as it is such a rollercoaster

Alexm06 · 27/11/2020 16:57

@Banana2010 I also had an ectopic (it was 12 years ago) so I also only have 1 tube and no obvious reasons either. I had my first round at the end of august which I got a positive from so I wouldn’t worry at all if you have no reasons apart from the 1 tube I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work. Unfortunately mine ended in a missed miscarriage but was just unlucky I guess. Hopefully starting again in Feb!
