@Emmalouise11 heya I remember you ❤️ I'm starting down regs an transfer January I remember you freezing all. How many did you have again? Hope your ok 💕.

@Ultimateblends welcome lovely you in a lovely group xx

Emmalouise11 · 11/12/2020 07:49

Hey @ivftake3 how are you? That’s great news! They managed to freeze 3 eggs, I didn’t think I would be doing it this cycle I thought it would wait until my jan period.

How does it work with a frozen transfer is it just tablets and progesterone pessaries you take? I think that’s what I’m doing. X

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 08:15

@Emmalouise11 so I take injections of buserelin every day then when your period arrives you start taking estrogen, then you go for a scan on day 11 if lining is ok you start taking progesterone pressies if it's not you carry on until they say and then start. I prefer this to a natural as it's natural is so unpredictable as I've found out. I was going to start January but asked to start over Xmas and with medicated they can move things to fit in more. So even tho I'll prob get my period before the 27th I won't start the estrogen until then.

That's good you have 3 in the freezer I have 3 left I day 5 blastocyst and 2 day 6s xxx

Emmalouise11 · 11/12/2020 08:56

@ivftake3 I think he said that I’ll be taking progynova tablets, when I call up next week to order medication I’ll have to ask cause I don’t actually know how it’s going to work lol. I hate the video calls I forget to ask anything.

So do they do the transfer around the time your meant to ovulate?

That’s great news will you be having just 1 transferred? xx

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 09:02

@Emmalouise11 I take prognova when I start my period which is the estrogen but I gave to prolong it until the 27th to go in line with when they open. So I'm on buserelin for longer. They told me natural would be cheaper it's actually not so chose this..
Which clinic are you with again..
I would phone the nurses and ask questions I'm always on the phone to them. The sound fed up when I call 😂but who cares If I feel I need to ask something it's them I need to speak to.
Phone the nurses and ask your questions were all here to help you! It's hard when we're all on different meds for different things..

My parter dislikes the medication cause I'm horrible mood swings are not his favourite 😂one min I love him next he literally breathing wrong 😂🙈..

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 09:02

@Emmalouise11 yes only one even tho I'm 38 they have said just one on this cycle

Emmalouise11 · 11/12/2020 09:24

@ivftake3 I’m doing mine with the nhs.. Might call them today and see if I can talk to someone.

I know it’s crazy that there is so many different medications for the same thing.

😂 that’s funny bless him, it will all be worth it in the end! 🤞🏼

EasterBunny7 · 11/12/2020 09:48

Hello. I'm probably joining everybody and having another fresh cycle in January (my second after a miscarriage Sad). I'm really scared it won't work again, there's not much doctors can do after transfer, right? How could they possibly improve anything? I'm also obsessing over whether success rates go down with each cycle?

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 09:56

@EasterBunny7 hey I know how your feeling and the feeling of it not working I'm in the same position and thought I completely understand. Be kind to yourself xx

@Emmalouise11 aw I don't know about nhs. So are you doing a medicated cycle? Are you going to be taking downright injections? Or just prognova

Alexm06 · 11/12/2020 10:07

@EasterBunny7 hey! I also had a miscarriage with my first round in September but have done some research and apparently you have higher success rates of getting pregnant again on your 2nd or 3rd cycle if you have a miscarriage on your first round. Don’t hold me to that but that’s what I’ve seen so I’m pretty hopeful for the next round!

Emmalouise11 · 11/12/2020 10:09

@ivftake3 well when I went to have the transfer after egg collection and he said he wasn’t going to do it they said then that I wouldn’t be injecting again just progynova and pessaries but I thought that was how it happened lol, I didn’t know people injected again. What’s the injections for? X

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 10:17

@Emmalouise11 yes it's buserelin it shits off your hormones

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 10:17

@Emmalouise11 shuts not shits 🤣🙈🙈

Birdladybird · 11/12/2020 13:14

Hello, can i join you ladies.

I had a failed cycle in November. 10 eggs retrieved, only 3 mature and none made it to be transferred unfortunately. After having an appointment yesterday with my Doctor she is changing my medication to one that you mix yourself, which i'm nervous about (Fertistart if that means anything to anyone) and i'm also having 2 different trigger shots. She has also said we will be having IMSI this time, does anyone know anything about this/has anyone had this?

AF due 28th Dec so i start taking Provames on the 24th Dec, first scan on the 31st Dec and start injecting on the 1st Jan.

Thanks
Bird x

EasterBunny7 · 11/12/2020 13:31

@ivftake3

Sorry for your loss (and anyone else who has gone through miscarriage or an unsuccessful round). I'm no longer crying my eyes out but little reminders like today should be the beginning of a new week of gestation does not help.

@Alexm06
I really hope that you are right! It's difficult to comprehend why a top quality blastocyst didn't stick, but that another lower quality one might. I just have to keep faith in the unknown, I suppose. This is going to be a long month.

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 13:53

@EasterBunny7 thank you. Mines been going on since July 2 procedures, and 2 cancelled treatments. Been very difficult but I still have 3 embryo's which I am thankful for.
My first round ended without it sticking that was top embryo same again this time but that did stick I got to 6 weeks then being told. Had a procedure at 9weeks in August and then again in October to remove what was left..
Then the 2 cancelled natural now on medicated..

Are you starting after Xmas? Xx

EasterBunny7 · 11/12/2020 14:26

That's terrible to hear about the prolonged miscarriage, I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. What led you to realise that you needed procedures 'to remove what was left'? Blush

With myself, if my period turns up on time, somewhere in mid January.

How far are you in your medicated process this time?

ivftake3 · 11/12/2020 15:28

@EasterBunny7 yes I was still getting positive for 10 weeks after. After loads of scans they found something so had to go back in..

Aw that's good you can start.. fingers crossed your period comes for you..

My natural cycles was cancelled beginning of nov for lining not being ready, and again beginning of December for not ovulating even tho I showed up on the sticks my follicles wasn't big enough.

I'm on day 4 of down regs atm I decided myself to do medicated it's more monitored

Xx

Gardenlady543 · 11/12/2020 16:04

Gosh you ladies have all been through so much, I feel so bad complaining. I had a bad day on Monday when I realised my cycle hadn’t worked as I was bleeding heavily 2 days before my OTD. I had to keep taking the progesterone until Wednesday and seemed to perk up and was doing a lot of research on how things could be optimized for my FET. But the last two days have been awful, I’m not concentrating, I’m making typos and even forgot what day it was yesterday and missed a meeting. I‘m walking around feeling numb and empty, I’m tearful and have no appetite. I’m getting more than enough sleep, so I think I’m just worn out, having just finished the fresh cycle. My FET won’t be until January, I’m speaking to the specialist on Thursday to discuss it. I am worried about getting through Xmas not knowing if I will ever be able to have a child. I see no point in getting the tree out and decorating it or doing anything really. Nothing really matters with how I feel right now, I’ve got some good grades back from a qualification I took and I’m getting good feedback at work, and it means absolutely nothing to me.

louloulemons · 12/12/2020 08:36

Wow lots to catch up on!

I had the embryoscope too last cycle. Even though it’s an NHS clinic, it’s an extra you can pay for and I think loads of people do. We’ve been told to book an appointment with the professor who organises it to discuss the results from last cycle so interested to hear what she can tell us, although I’m wondering if there will be anything useful for going forward. We weren’t automatically sent the video of the embryos but told we could request it at any time but should think carefully first. Think we are going to anyway as I have a little memory box for the baby we lost.

We finally have a date for our information session at end of Jan and I got my factsheet in the post so have an idea of what the cycle will involve. I’ve also been sent info on the scratch and trying to work out whether we should pay the extra for that. Really doesn’t sound pleasant but don’t want to end up feeling there was more we could have done.

ForeverAintEnough · 12/12/2020 09:02

Hi all new people!! Lots of us gearing up for cycles in the new year! Can I ask are you planning to be super healthy over Christmas or just relax and enjoy it? I ended up having Prosecco last night and really enjoyed it and I’m going to a wine & cheese eve with my DBro tonight and I feel so guilty. I’ll have 6 weeks until egg collection from NYE where I’ll be 100% good - hoping that’ll be enough...

@Birdladybird we did IMSI in our 3rd and 4th cycle and we did get better blast outcomes. It’s just a better magnification for selecting the sperm - do you have male issues?

Re meds could you outsource to your husband? One of the best things I did was give all medication responsibility to him. He mixes it all makes sure it’s measured out and does the injections. It’s far easier than when I did it all myself in our first round. I just relax until he says ready then go in and get injection done.

@Gardenlady543 sorry to hear you are having a bad time of it. I think set aside an afternoon and get your tree up, stick on some Christmas music and have a glass of something nice with your DH. I honestly felt like a zombie after my two recent rounds and with covid and it was so nice to do something normal. I know it’s hard. It’s our 3rd Christmas with no pregnancy and with so many rounds done it’s hard to believe it’ll ever happen. I put up the decorations when I was feeling ok and made myself realise I’m lucky to have a lovely husband and a home. I also recommend a dreadful Christmas movie like ‘the princess switch’ - hope you feel better soon.

@louloulemons I’ve had a scratch done it wasn’t too bad. I unfortunately then ended up having to delay my round as I was sick so I don’t know if it would’ve made any difference.

Birdladybird · 12/12/2020 09:19

@ForeverAintEnough that’s good to hear about the IMSI. My DH had a vasectomy 20 years ago Sad before he met me. Had it reversed in 2017 but he has a low count. Dr said it would increase our chances of getting an embryo to transfer. We are in France and get 4 rounds fully funded so it doesn’t hurt to try!!

As for being good, I’m trying so hard but had 2 mince pies last night and a beer Grin I think it’s difficult when there is already so much pressure on us. I’m not a big drinker anyway so I can give that up easily. Food is another matter haha.

MF1981 · 12/12/2020 09:21

I’ve been wondering about alcohol over Christmas myself @ForeverAintEnough. I start down regging on 20th Dec for frozen transfer at the end of Jan. I won’t go mad obviously but was thinking of having a glass of wine or two over the festive period. Does anyone know if it’s safe to do so when on Buserelin?

I also second the outsourcing of injections! My fiancé did all mine in my fresh cycle last month and he was amazing - took a lot of the stress out of it for me.

MF1981 · 12/12/2020 09:22

Probably should add that I’ve barely touched alcohol this year and abstained completely from September until after I’d recovered from EC

Ultimateblends · 12/12/2020 09:43

Hi all,
Just keeping up with reading all the posts, for those of you wondering about having a glass or two over Christmas..
I had successful ivf with my first, and back then I was so relaxed about it. I had a few glasses of beer during stims and even few after EC and ET And my son is 6 this year!!

So a couple of glasses of something you fancy will absolutely not ruin your cycle.

I'm gearing up to start in January and in the last month I've had 2 glasses of wine and a couple of ciggies (I was a smoker and did drink) im planning to abstain as much as possible, but being totally honest I will very likely be having a few drinks over Christmas.

I was so relaxed about my first cycle (and convinced it would never work) that I cant even remember feeling stressed, I continued as normal pretty much.

The cycle that failed, I was emotional, scared, stressed! You name it. I felt it.

Honestly, feeling guilty and stressed is so harmful to the body, if you fancy a couple of glasses of something to celebrate xmas/new year, just do it.
