@Rumtopf! Just saw your post as well!
Best of luck for saturday! Dont stress about the quality too much as there are a lot of times that a lower grade embryo was a successful pregnancy! Be excited for getting there!
Regarding the progynova the advice of the doctor and the nurse was so conflicting ! They didnt say anything about crashing the pill! Could you please let me know a bit more about this?

HavingFaith · 17/09/2020 12:17

@KassT I know you’d hoped for more follicles but the three that are growing could contain the best quality eggs! I have my fingers crossed for them XX

@poupou oh I’m sorry your lining isn’t quite thick enough yet but I’m sure it will be soon with the extra progynova and patches! Might be worth calling the clinic if unsure how to take the progynova vaginally. How many patches do you use a day?xx

@JandL2020 I need to follow your lead and do some exercise, I’ve been laying around watching Netflix since Friday 😅

@Eggling glad you’re having a chilled day - hope you’re able to catch up on some sleep xx

@JenniferRo28 3 fertilised is very positive! I don’t have any idea about partially fertilised embryos but I have my fingers crossed for them xx

HavingFaith · 17/09/2020 12:18

@Rumtopf as difficult as it is, try not to focus too much on the gradings. But it looks like ET is a definite, so roll on Saturday!xx

Rumtopf · 17/09/2020 12:20

@poupou sure, I had to take 3 tablets orally in the morning and then 2 in the evening vaginally. The advice I was given was to crush the tablets (I used a mini pestle and mortar so it didn't go everywhere) and then dampen a finger to collect the ground tablet and insert into your vagina and rub it around a bit. Repeat until you've used all the ground up tablet. It was a bit gritty and a little uncomfortable but seemed to do the job as my lining improved enough that cycle for FET.

We are excited, I'm just anxious too as this is our last cycle. Do we put back the best embryo and freeze any others, or put back the others and freeze the best as it has the best chance of surviving the freeze/thaw process?!

poupou · 17/09/2020 12:27

Thank you @Rumtopf! That sounds very interesting but seriously a massive thank you as its very clear to me now how to di this!
@HavingFaith! It was day 8 -9 on progynova so essentially they said it needs to be around 10 to 11! That is the issue the nurse didnt know exactly what i should do if i should stop buseralin or not and how many patches so j am waiting for a call phone from them soon! I know that lining should be above 7.5 mm but ideally it should be 10 ish! Last time it went to 10.5 but it took 13 days! So we will see

KassT · 17/09/2020 12:31

@HavingFaith thank you! I wasn't hoping for a lot but was confused that the doctor is suggesting not to do transfer this cycle and to do batching instead. I'm trying to get my head around Maybe she doesn't want to waste my chance? It's still early stage though.

ivfjourney5 · 17/09/2020 12:32

Sorry I haven't been following this very closely so don't know everyone's news, but I hope everyone's doing okay! Still no news about a withdrawal bleed yet, I'm getting rather impatient.

@Rumtopf did you do them vaginally from day 1, or just after your first scan?

poupou · 17/09/2020 13:18

@Rumtopf thanks again! Can i ask how long it took to get the thickness that you needed from when starting them vaginally? I need to get around 4mm in 4 days and i dont think that would happen!
@ivfjourney5 i hope your AFarrives soon!
@KassT i completely understand how you feel but focus on those three and as @HavingFaith said they might contain the quality eggs that you need!
@Rumtopf ! Very difficult decision regarding embryos and which to freeze and which not! I hope your Dr will help make this decision

Rumtopf · 17/09/2020 14:25

@ivfjourney5 from just after first scan so around 6 days doing the extra 2.

ChicaXS · 17/09/2020 14:50

Afternoon ladies thank you so much for checking in!

@JenniferRo28 great news on the 3- that’s looking positive fingers crossed for you for the rest of the week - are you getting a day 3 update?

So I am feeling a little perkier and happier, out of the 11 eggs collected, 9 fertilised normally, 1 fertilised abnormally and 1 egg was immature. So I think that’s a good result ? I hope? Not sure ! I just really pray these little embryos make it to day 5 and suitable for freezing! We are doing PGS so I’m expecting odds against us!

Feels so surreal waiting now until Monday xx

poupou · 17/09/2020 17:40

Apparently @ivfjourney5 progynova vaginally might be absorbed better! As i found out! I asked and they said that if you just insert the tablet will be absorbed but might work better with @Rumtopf method. Both nurses that i asked confirmed that its fine by not crashing it.
I am going to be on a massive dose of oestrogen as they also added patches 2 x100 mcgs every other day and 10 mcgs of progynova! This is going to be hell!

JandL2020 · 17/09/2020 18:17

Great news @ChicaXS 😊

ivfjourney5 · 17/09/2020 18:36

Thanks @poupou and @Rumtopf I'm definitely going to try it!

@poupou wow that's a lot but it should do the job 🤞🏼

@Rumtopf good luck for Saturday!

@ChicaXS fab fertilisation!!

zebra80 · 17/09/2020 18:37

@ChicaXS that's fantastic news! Well done those 9 star eggs :-)

@Rumtopf pleased to hear you've got some options for Saturday, hope they help you make the decison and it all goes smoothly.

I got an update today on my day 3 zygotes - unfortunately one is really pretty fragmented, and the other doesn't look great quality so the embryologist is doubtful there'll be anything to transfer on Saturday. I'm pretty gutted and obviously will talk it through with the consultant, but it seems to me like the drugs did their job, my body responded to the hormones but unfortunately my eggs are just pretty dross! So in a way maybe that makes it easier to decide not to try again :-/

Best of luck all x

Rumtopf · 17/09/2020 18:50

@ChicaXS that's fab! What does PGS do, is that genetic testing?

@zebra80 I'm so sorry your news wasn't better. I hope you can see your consultant soon to talk through it all.

poupou · 17/09/2020 19:12

@Rumtopf best of luck for saturday! And please keep i mind that any of your embryos can lead to a successful cycle.

@ivfjourney5 ! I know right? I thought lining wasnt bad enough at 6.8 mm and on day 9 but they went all out with this! Probably as next scan is in 4 days! If hope it works!

@zebra80 i am so sorry for the news. I am
Not sure at what stage you are and how many times you ve been through this but there are a few things that might help with egg quality like Ubiquinol, DHEA, and hcg during stiMulation. However whatever you decide even if this means not trying again this is your decision and you should do whatever is best for you! Again i am
So sorry.
@AutumnHoping best of luck for your scan tmr!!!! I hope your lining increased!

AutumnHoping · 17/09/2020 19:17

Thanks @poupou - I haven’t got to catch up here today yet - reading backwards. Your appointment sounded promising - at least they seem to be taking it seriously and are adamant to get to where you need to be - that’s great. Sorry you have to be on such a high dose - hope it isn’t too bad. Eager to see what the story is tomo - not feeling hopeful. I think they’re gonna use this as a trial which isn’t ideal and maybe change the dose next time but will see x

SpyroC · 17/09/2020 19:46

Thanks @UncleBrynsfishingtrip I spoke to my clinic today and they said they still advise to work from home but that they understand that in some jobs it's not possible and so to just be extremely cautious. I teach secondary which means I come in to contact with about 100ish kids a day 😬 and then there's the corridors. But let's face it, nothing's changing any time soon so I had better just suck it up I think.

It's good to see your moving on @granddesigns I am on cd1 of a fresh long protocol so I will probably end up on the October thread. But like you I need support of a thread now at the moment.

That's fantastic news @Rumtopf from memory that's much better than last time right?

zebra80 · 17/09/2020 19:51

Thanks folks - @poupou I'm already on CoQ10 which I think is the same as ubiquinol? I'll chat it through with the consultant and maybe have a read around everything else. I think maybe it's as much to do with my autoimmune thyroid condition as much as anything else... will see what they say.

Rumtopf · 17/09/2020 21:22

@SpyroC do you wear a mask in corridors and communal areas? My dd is in a "bubble" of 250 6th form students, which is quite overwhelming, it must be so concerning for you.

Last time we got 6 eggs, 4 fertilised and only 1 made it to day5 but wasn't the best quality, so this round seems to have yielded better quality eggs. All the vitamins have clearly helped. Fingers crossed they make it through to Saturday.

@zebra80 do you know if there's any treatment that can combat your thyroid condition? I know it's one thing they test for before beginning treatment but until then it was something I'd thought of.

poupou · 17/09/2020 21:44

@AutumnHoping fingers crossed for tmr! Thank you i hope the side effects wont be too bad with so much oestrogen!
@zebra80 yes Q10 is the same as Ubiquinol but ubiquinol is the active form and its absorbed better! Have a chat with your consultant about alternatives. In the uk DHEA is not approved but it has been shown to improve quality of eggs if taken for 8 -12 weeks before egg collection! Regarding the autoimmune thyroid condition i am not an expert but i think they increased my oestrogen dose as i started levothryroxine to counteract this!
@Rumtopf best of luck for saturday!

HavingFaith · 17/09/2020 21:48

@zebra80 sorry to hear your update - I hope your consultant is helpful in thinking about what to try next, if that’s what you decide xx

@AutumnHoping good luck for tomorrow!

Possibly overthinking this, but I have a blood test tomorrow at 8.30am and I usually do my cyclogest suppository at 8am. I usually lie down for at least half an hour after each cyclogest (I’m off work so able to do this). But is it that important to lie down afterwards? I’m trying to decide whether to pop one in at the hospital as I wait for my appt or to wait until i get home at about 10:30/11am and do it then so I can lay down?!

zebra80 · 17/09/2020 21:52

@Rumtopf I'm on thyroxine to replace the missing thyroid hormone in my body but there's still the background inflammation and immune activity attacking my thyroid (so the treatment is just to make up for what your thyroid isn't producing any more, it doesn't actually stop your immune system having a go at it) and afaik the thinking is that it's the autoimmunity itself that can damage your fertility as much as the lack of thyroxine. The autoimmunity waxes and wanes but for me is definitely worse with stress so lockdown hasn't done it much good. Sending all the positive vibes I can for your lovely quality embryos :-)

Thanks @poupou, I'll read up on that.

zebra80 · 17/09/2020 22:05

@HavingFaith thank you xx

I think the lying down just so that it definitely stays where it's supposed to be! So would probably be alright, just make sure you wear a decent pad for any leakage? Fwiw the nurse did say to me that the timing of the cyclogest was less critical than the injections.

JandL2020 · 17/09/2020 22:08

@HavingFaith makes no difference still drips out of me all bloody day 😭 I lay for over an hour as I work from home. I purchased bigger pads today. This is probably worse than the injections for me. X
