Morning ladies!

We hit our 1000 limit on the original thread! That’s 1000 messages of support and advice, celebrating every happy milestone, and being there for uncertainty and bad news too. Thanks @Mseddy for setting up our little cohort :)

Will try to tag the regulars, apologies if I miss anyone. @Custardandcream @nextweek @kikisparks @StayingPositive8 @Bruce2 @CardboardCat @MrsT36 @loulamay @MsNoons17 Argh, my phone is refusing to autocomplete properly - I hope that works.

Wishing everyone heath and happiness - whatever stage of the journey you're on xx

Merry Christmas @Mseddy doing well here Xmas Smile just had the vaccinations today and she’s a bit funny sleeping a lot and groaning a bit whilst awake but hopefully that will pass. Love having her here so much. How are things going for you?

Mseddy · 22/12/2021 20:05

Things are going good. She's 16 weeks this week! Still doesn't seem real. Yesterday was the anniversary of our embryo transfer and it just felt incredible to look at her and know that's where we started.
We've had some bumps along the road but can't be more exited for her first Christmas!

loulamay · 23/12/2021 14:37

Ah happy christmas everyone! We are so happy to be having our first one with little Amelie, who is just the most wonderful little baby. So glad to hear that you are both doing so well - we also had our first jabs the other week and she was a bit grizzly for a day or so afterwards - thank god for Calpol!

Mseddy · 17/05/2022 19:13

How is everyone getting on? 8.5 months old here now and time is flying by!!!

kikisparks · 18/05/2022 21:22

@Mseddy doing great with nearly 7 months old! First 3 months were really tough looking back, but now although there are hard parts I wake up to her smiling face every day and it’s wonderful! Are you still on mat leave?

Mseddy · 22/05/2022 22:39

@kikisparks yeah I agree, I struggled emotionally processing everything in the first few months, but I'm in a much better place now. Yeah I'm not back to work until September, I feel like it will be here in no time though! When are you back?

Mseddy · 30/08/2022 21:34

How is everyone doing? In a few days time I'm going to have a 1 year old!! I can't quite belive how much time is flying!

loulamay · 31/08/2022 15:57

It's crazy isn't it?! We're doing great - it's so amazing watching her grow into a little person. She's been crawling for a while and pulls herself up to standing but no steps yet. Eating well! Loves salmon and will try most things. Her top teeth are coming through and we've been having some separation anxiety (she cries when I leave the room) so sleep has been on and off! Today she woke up at 4am and wouldn't go back down... How are your routines going? Are you both back at work yet? x

Mseddy · 31/08/2022 21:46

It's so amazing how far they've come! We've had first steps, but not doing it regularly yet. She loves fish too! I mean she loves food in general. We went through a pretty bad separation anxiety phase a few months ago but she improved. She's started nursery the last few weeks though and it's kicked it off a little again. She's enjoying it on the whole though I think. I'm back to work next week! So sad my maternity leave is over! When are you back?

Mseddy · 06/08/2023 20:51

Hey guys. Just thought I'd check in. How is everyone getting on?

loulamay · 07/08/2023 07:53

@Mseddy I am going to take your message as a good luck sign... Off for my FET with our last frozen embryo in two hours!

Otherwise - we're doing so great! She is turning into such a character. I can't believe in two months she will be TWO. She really is one of the best things ever to happen to us!

kikisparks · 07/08/2023 08:29

Ooooh good luck @loulamay!

We are doing great as well, little one is so much fun and full of beans! Really loving this stage actually, also can’t believe she’s nearly 2.

How are you getting on @Mseddy?

Mseddy · 07/08/2023 14:20

Ahh @loulamay that's so exciting! Got everything crossed for you for a sticky little bean! 100% here for support if you want/need it.
I also can't believe they are nearly two!! Loving every moment. Started loosely considering a sibling, but not for a good year or two we think.

loulamay · 07/08/2023 14:22

Thank you both! Went super well this morning (we had a failed FET in February so hoping this one sticks!) and now on to the dreaded wait!

Do either of you have frosties? x

Mseddy · 07/08/2023 18:29

Yeah we've got 3 from Alma's cycle. Got 5, had a chemical with the first fresh, Alma was the second frostie and we've three left. The thought of heading back into this world honestly petrifies me! We've already said we wouldn't do another fresh. If them frosties don't work, that's our end point

kikisparks · 07/08/2023 19:29

Sorry about the failed transfer in February, glad it went well today though!

We’ve got two Frosties but pretty certain we’re one and done 😊

Mseddy · 05/10/2024 08:25

Hi everyone! Thread resurrection! How are we all doing? Hope everyone's lovely DC are well. Selfishly resurrecting because we are finally starting to think about a sibling round and I wanted to see if any of you guys had gone for it!

Mseddy · 05/10/2024 15:45

@loulamay I've just read back and had forgotten you had had a frostie transferred when we last chatted. I'm really hoping that little frostie is a baby now??!

loulamay · 05/10/2024 18:24

Ah sadly not. Lots to fill you in on and will reply tomorrow!

loulamay · 06/10/2024 17:59

Hi again - it's been quite a journey. We had two failed FETs with the last frosties in Cape Town. So disappointing. Then we started up again, but in the Czech Republic, this time, it was much cheaper than in the UK. From the start my age was totally against us - we did three egg collections and had 10 blasts in total across all three but had them PGT tested and every single one came back abnormal. I got OHSS after the last collection which led to an ovarian torsion and had to have surgery to remove my left ovary and tube. After much discussion, we have moved on to donor eggs and are with the London egg bank. We got 6 great graded blasts - the first fresh one didn't stick sadly (my lining was a bit shit) but I've just started meds for the next transfer which will probably be towards the end of the month.

It's been an exhausting time. But not willing to give up quite yet - she just turned 3 so I don't feel the age gap is too much even with all of these delays.

Mseddy · 06/10/2024 18:37

Oh @loulamay you've been through it!!! What a journey. I've got absolutely everything crossed that your next little frostie sticks and works for you!

We've got 3 frosties from Alma's round but once they are used that would be it for us. I think we've hesitated so long because them safe in the freezer feels like we still have a chance, but the thought of our chance ending is too much to deal with. I think she will be nearer 5 by the time we get around to it because I've got some big changes going on professionally which doesn't make things easy timing wise! But we need to bite the bullet

loulamay · 06/10/2024 19:09

I know what you mean! If these frosties don't work (with 5 left, surely one of them has to?! They are 4AA, 3AA, 6AA, 5AA, 4BB so really good grades) then that has to be the end for us. We can't justify spending any more money on it. But the thought of that makes me utterly heartbroken. It all feels so unfair - as it always has since the beginning of this!

Next transfer will be #4 and it took 4 to get to our daughter so we'll see. They want me on prednisone as well as the baby aspirin, Clexane, progesterone and estrogen so maybe that will help. We've also started estrogen patches from the beginning this time to try and get my lining thicker.

What are next steps for you?

Mseddy · 06/10/2024 20:09

Sounds like they are on it with your protocol so hopefully that'll do it! Lets hope number 4 is luck again for you.

We haven't contacted the clinic yet. I had some weight to shift so I was working on that and we finally decided that it's something we both want, but we aren't in a hurry. I'm afraid to let it consume me again! Our treatment to have Alma became my entire personality last time it felt like, and I don't have the freedom in life that I had last time if that makes sense. If it all goes to shit I can't take weeks off work and wallow, I'm a mum!

loulamay · 07/10/2024 14:05

I get it. Trying to manage IVF whilst having a toddler, a dog, a job, a husband who runs a start-up (so a lot of the house stuff falls to me as he works long hours) and also just trying to be a good sister, daughter, friend - it's a lot. I worry that we keep getting failed transfers because I'm more tired and stressed than the first time around. But what can you do?!

Mseddy · 07/10/2024 18:37

That's one of my worries. I'm back working full time, doing my masters in advance practice which is really full on! I've just started 2nd year and it's a 3 year corse so the temptation to wait until it's finished so I'm less stressed is there! But when I finish I'll be full time on the medical rota with less say over my rota pattern. There is just no ideal time is there! I half wish I'd felt ready before I started this next step in my career, but equally it already felt like I was holding myself back professionally because it took us 3 years to get pregnant the first time. I am SO envious of the people who just decide, have unprotected sex and bam decisions made!
