Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

Ivfmarch2021 · 26/02/2021 15:33

Hi everyone,

Nice to follow a lot of ladies sharing a similar journey.

I am due to start injections mid March. I was told if my period starts after midday then count the following day as day 1 and to start bemfola on day 2.

Have you ladies found that it was straightforward to administer the injections by just watching the videos they sent? Xx

LeanneRW · 26/02/2021 15:39

Just thought I’d update you all. I got THE phone call and it was positive :) so happy but aware it’s really early I’m going to silence that part of my brain for now and enjoy it. Hope your all ok xx

Icsi2021 · 26/02/2021 16:08

@LeanneRW amazing 💗 congratulations xx

StarryHannah · 26/02/2021 16:18

@LeanneRW fantastic news! So happy for you!

Thank you ladies for asking about me.. scan was great. Four really good follicles and lots of smaller ones so looking at four good eggs if all the larger ones do have eggs. However, just had the phone call that my oestrogen levels have shot up so will be having a frozen transfer. Egg collection on Monday xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 26/02/2021 20:03

@Ivfmarch2021 welcome :) the videos are great - we just copied what they do. I had my husband do them, which helped me loads as I’m needle phobic. It also helped him to feel a bit more involved if that makes sense.

@StarryHannah I’m sorry you are having to have a frozen cycle. Will be keeping very hopeful for super strong eggs for you.

@LeanneRWe thank you so much for your reply to my last post - I genuinely found it really helpful, and you seem so kind and caring. I am thrilled to bits to see you’ve had a positive result! I am so, so happy for you 💕
I did get to have an ET this afternoon. The embryologist said it is a grade 4bc embryo and described this as average grade. The 4 other embryos were ungraded, but they’re leaving them one more day in case any make it to be frozen. Feeling glad to have made it this far, and keeping hopeful for my 4bc

Ivfmarch2021 · 26/02/2021 21:38

Thank you @HopingForRainbow2021

Feels like it comes round really quickly once you have the treatment consultation.

Do they usually book the first scan on day 4? Have any of you guys who have had it done have the scan on any other day?

@LeanneRW I am really happy to hear about your positive result!

When do you get told about the grading of the embryos? I feel like I'm jumping far ahead but just so I know when I get round to that bit xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 26/02/2021 21:45

@Ivfmarch2021 yes definitely - time flies once you get started. Although probably not so much in the tww!
They grade the embryos on the 3rd and 5th day following egg collection. The grading is different for day 3 and day 5 though.

Ivfmarch2021 · 26/02/2021 22:41

@HopingForRainbow2021 thank you for your reply!xx

LeanneRW · 27/02/2021 15:11

@ hopingforrainbow2021 glad my last message helped :) I hope your relaxing at home, now the mind games really start. Be kind to yourself. Hope the sun keeps shining for you xxx

Ragazzabela · 27/02/2021 20:09

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for not comment as much.

Congratulations, I am very happy for all the positive results hope to hear more soon.

I had my initial scan but unable to start my treatment as waiting for more scans because of my bicornuate uterus.

Wish you all very good luck. To everyone still in the process praying that all goes smoothly and you have good quality embryos and positive outcome.x

Ivfmarch2021 · 27/02/2021 20:36

@StarryHannah thinking of you, hope your egg collection goes well tomorrow x

StarryHannah · 28/02/2021 21:28

@Icsi2021 thank you so much. Feeling nervous tonight; a little nervous as I'm not sure what to expect how to feel with being sedated, but mainly nervous to hear how many eggs they've managed to get. You know that horrible feeling after an interview waiting to find out the outcome ... well I feel like that xxx

Ivfmarch2021 · 28/02/2021 21:43

@StarryHannah good luck for tomorrow! Try not to think of it too much its exciting you're nearly there and it will all be fine. Just try stay relaxed xx

StarryHannah · 01/03/2021 14:27

Thank you everyone. It went really well and I'm back home in Wales now after my egg collection in Bristol. Staff were wonderful. They got 10 eggs which we are chuffed with.

As I'm having a frozen transfer due to my high oestrogen levels it means I have another week of cetrotide injections as well as another injection to take for a week.

I slept through the entire procedure until somebody woke me up (but I can't remember if they woke me up in the theatre or back in recovery room bed). They also put pessaries in (I was sleeping for this but they do inform you in advance when doing consent forms ... two vaginally to prevent infection, and you have the option to have one rectally which is a painkiller with ibuprofen in; I opted for this and so glad I did, but I know some can't if you have certain allergies etc.) I was in quite a lot of pain on the way home (it is a more severe period pain feeling), but the pessary has kicked in now (about two hours later) and I'm feeling much better.

I hope this helps those yet to have their egg collection have a bit of an understanding of what to expect.

Hope you ladies are all okay xxx

Beaglemum91 · 01/03/2021 15:34

@StarryHannah so glad it went well and what a great number of eggs! Rest up and look after yourself!

@LeanneRW congrats, that's such great news! So happy for you and have my fingers crossed for your scan!

So today I got my first proper post treatment period. My cycle was about 4 days longer than normal so ivf definitely effected that! Hoping it settled down this month back to normal. DH is trying to do what he can to improve things for next time, but the GP doesn't want to follow up on anything with him... we are private but our clinic recommended he got a gp referral following a blood test and they're saying no 😞 feel a bit lost about it.
We're going to try for out next cycle in April so getting the treatment consultation for that booked this week and hopefully get things moving from there!

So glad there are so many of us here now, hope your journeys are all going well.

Ivfmarch2021 · 01/03/2021 15:49

@StarryHannah really happy for you! Glad it went well. Rest up now. Do they inform you of the pessaries on the day of the egg collection? How long were you there for on the day of collection?

@LeanneRW don't worry not long till April. Could you explain the situation to them about how you've gone private and they have recommended follow up?

I'm waiting for my period to start next week so that I can start the injections xx

Ivfmarch2021 · 01/03/2021 15:50

sorry I meant @Beaglemum91*

StarryHannah · 01/03/2021 15:58

Thank you @Beaglemum91 . I hope you are well. Sounds like a right faffy time for you ... which you really don't need on top of everyone. Sending you love.

Hi @Ivfmarch2021 I was in and out within two hours.

If you are having a fresh cycle you will have more pessaries with hormones in (I had them delivered with my first lots of meds so have them ready for when i have frozen transfer). So if you have a fresh transfer your after care advice will be different to mine.

The three pessaries i had put in when i was sleeping today they will talk you through before the procedure. The two vaginal ones you have to prevent infection i think you have to have, but the rectal painkiller one is optional; however, if you are able to have it I recommend you do as it really helped my pain levels.

If you have any other questions please.ask xx

Ivfmarch2021 · 01/03/2021 16:09

@StarryHannah thank you for your reply! Glad it doesn't take too long. I remember in my treatment consultation they mentioned the pessaries. It's quite overwhelming that there's a lot of injections and medications etc.

Could you have your partner there during the procedure? Or do they come join you after?

Many thanks xx
