Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

HopingForRainbow2021 · 23/02/2021 13:33

@Icsi2021 I’m in the middle of it all now. I had egg collection on Sunday - hoping for - 5 day transfer Friday

Icsi2021 · 23/02/2021 13:46

@HopingForRainbow2021 🤞🏼 Hope all goes well for you, im soo excited but nervous to start x

StarryHannah · 24/02/2021 10:27

@Beaglemum91 so lovely to hear from you! I have been thinking of you.

@HopingForRainbow2021 how is everything going?

@LeanneRW thank you 😊 I hope you are good.

@edibletreats how is everything with you?

Welcome to @canavasha , @Becky105 and everybody new to this page 😊

@Icsi2021 that's good news things are moved forward!

Had my third scan this morning. It looks like my egg collection will now be Monday but nurse is going to ring me to confirm this after speaking with doc and looking and today's bloods this afternoon. It looks likely that I'll have to have a frozen transfer though as there's a chance that my oestrogen levels may shoot up by then as I have to continue the meds a little longer. We will just have to wait and see. But i feel well looked after and treated like a valued individual. ABC staff genuinely do care and it makes such a difference to the journey we go through.

PS sorry if I've missed anyone out - it's not intentional, we are just quite a large group now which is lovely. Xxx

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 11:22

@StarryHannah im guessing i may have the same situation as you, lets hope your levels stay down & you get a fresh cycle 🤞🏼 Keep us updated, had a call today they have brought his test forward to next week 🥰 x

Becky105 · 24/02/2021 11:50

@Canavasha thank you so much for that information. I had a look at the American sperm banks that you listed and viewed some of their donor profiles. You were so right about the extra information, seeing childhood pictures really helped me to connect more with the descriptions and for the first time in about 5 years of browsing, I actually felt a bit excited looking at donors and being able to pick out some potentials for us. (slight snag that the weather in America had put a stop on the transport of vials). Feeling much more optimistic and so grateful for your help.

HopingForRainbow2021 · 24/02/2021 15:06

@StarryHannah I am so happy to hear that you are being well looked after. I Will keep my fingers crossed that your oestrogen levels stay within the threshold for a fresh transfer. It certainly sounds as though you are in very good hands.

@LeanneRW I have been thinking of you, and hope you are coping okay with the tww. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for a positive outcome for you :)

I'm not having the best day today. I am just really struggling to be positive - I don't think the progesterone is helping either. I had my update call this morning, and just feel really deflated. Out of the 5 embryos there is just one strong embryo. It was my understanding that if this is the case they will do a 3 day transfer - so I was expecting them to say come in today for that... but they are sticking with the 5 day transfer. I got the impression they couldn't accommodate doing a transfer for me today. The lady told me that they don't change their minds - but I was told before that it would depend how the embryos are doing. I just felt completely brushed off - and lied to - as I know from this thread that others have been called in on the day for a 3 day transfer on the day if there aren't enough viable embryos. She basically made it sound as though there wasn't hope for the other embryos because the only other one that had reached the three day threshold for cell division was very highly fragmented. If I only have one with hope, surely they should have transferred today, rather than risk losing it by Friday. I am gutted, and feel like they are gambling with my embryo rather than fitting me in. Am I being unreasonable?

edibletreats · 24/02/2021 16:42

@StarryHannah great to hear its all going well for you and fingers crossed for a fresh transfer.

I'm still in semi limbo. HCG is increasing marginally but the consultant at my EGU has basically said its an unviable pregnancy. Her gut feeling is that its not ectopic but this hasn't been ruled out completely. I go back next week for another scan and to hopefully decide a way forward.

@HopingForRainbow2021 really sorry to hear this. I was in a similar position, only 1 embryo from 6 eggs. Its really hard to not feel defeatist. The embryologist said that they always do a 3 day transfer if there are less than 3 viable embryos so understand why that is confusing. However are the other embryos of fair quality? I understand one is a front runner but have the others been ruled out for sure? If not, that might be why they are doing a 5 day? Also 5 day transfers do have a better chance overall so I really hope it goes that way for you!

HopingForRainbow2021 · 24/02/2021 16:52

@edibletreats I am so sorry you are going through this. It is hard enough going through IVF, but this is just so cruel. I really hope you get some answers soon. When I miscarried in November, I had a few weeks of scans too, as it was unclear what was happening for a time. It was the hardest thing I have ever faced, and I honestly feel for you so much going through something like this.

I was told that this morning that we have one 10 cell grade 1, a 7 cell grade 3 (which she said had very bad fragmentation), A 5 cell which was either 2 or 3, but she spoke very fast, and two 4 cell grade 2. She seemed extremely pessimistic about all but the 10cell. I just can't understand why they didn't go ahead and transfer that embryo today given she was so pessimistic about the others :(

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 17:00

@HopingForRainbow2021 sorry for such deflating news 😔 🤞🏼 For your best embryo and transfer. Hope it all goes okay in the end 💗 will be thinking of you x

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 18:50

@StarryHannah how did your phone call this evening go? 🤞🏼 X

StarryHannah · 24/02/2021 19:20

@edibletreats I'm sending you a big hug. I can't even imagine what you are going through.

@HopingForRainbow2021 sounds like you are going through a difficult time. I have no words as I can't imagine. Sending you love.

@icsi2021 thank you for asking. it went okay ta. She said doc agreed to keep going with the treatment in the hope to more better developed follicles. I know that means more chance of having a frozen transfer but I'm happy they are doing it this way than just rushing me through to have a fresh transfer instead. I was on low bemfola dose but it's been lowered even more to 100. She said my oestrogen levels were just over 2000 Monday, today they were 4200. If they reach 8000 I will have to have a frozen transfer. So for now I'll just have to wait and see what scan/bloods on Friday show, as well as the results I have when I go for Monday's egg collection. I was gutted I left the scan this morning with extra bemfola and certitide ... I was hoping I had seen the last of them haha xxx

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 19:47

@StarryHannah are your eggs responding well to treatment? Im being started on 40mg tablet and 112.5 bemfola x

StarryHannah · 24/02/2021 19:54

@Icsi2021 you are starting on exact same as I did. Yes responding well ... 18 decent sized follicles but they are aiming for just the biggest 8 to fully develop into a big enough size to try and retrieve eggs from (hopefully they will grow big enough and there will be eggs in them during Monday's collection). They've definitely put me on the right dose as any higher and my levels would have raised too quickly causing and any lower my follicles wouldn't have developed enough. Does that make sense? You'll probably have blood tests in each of your scans too followed by phone calls in the evening. Do you have high AMH too? Mine is 39 x

StarryHannah · 24/02/2021 20:28

Causing *OHSS

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 21:22

@StarryHannah i dont really understand it im just leaving it up to the clinic i have no clue where iam supposed to start lol urm im not sure they have never checked it? They are worried that i mag ohss coz of my age and pcos but hopefully not, it sounds as if they have you under control perfectly x

StarryHannah · 24/02/2021 21:30

@icsi2021 I had mine checked with another clinic. It's because of your PCOS you are at high risk of getting OHSS just like me with my high AMH. They will definitely look after you though ... the fact they've given you a lower dosage of the bemfola and the tamoxifen tablets shows they will do all they can to avoid OHSS but still stimulate you to get enough well developed follicles (which will hopefully then lead to your eggs). Debbie, my nurse told me they are only aiming for 7 to 8 eggs so keep that in mind as some people think they'll be aiming to retrieve as many as possible like other clinics do. Xx

Icsi2021 · 24/02/2021 21:46

@StarryHannah i trust them 100% and im sure like you said they will do whatever they can to try and avoid OHSS hopefully my body will play the game too lol. I have everything crossed for Friday for you, hope your levels have chilled out 🤞🏼 X

Whitney93 · 24/02/2021 23:09

Evening ladies,

I hope you’re all well. Thinking of you all on your journeys! Got everything crossed for us all!

I’ve been catching up over the last few days on all the posts and love hearing about our different journeys.

If anyone is interested, I came across a group on Facebook called ‘creating little miracles’. It’s a group solely for couples or individuals, female or male, who are or have suffered with infertility and Jade one of the creators of it is so lovely and welcoming and is currently going through her 3rd round of IVF. It’s a similar group to what we have here but it’s from different clinics around the country and different journeys including past, present or future. Take a little look and I hope you all like it too! Jade also has a YouTube and has shared her journey on there! It’s really eye opening and honest and it’s helped me a lot of the last few days so I wanted to share so hopefully it can help others too not to feel alone xx

@Whitney93 thank you... I've just sent a request to join. It's all private too which is important to me and my husband and I have only told my best friend and her boyfriend (who are currently 4 months pregnant with their ivf baby) xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 25/02/2021 14:21

@Whitney93 thank you - I’ve requested to join too. x

LeanneRW · 25/02/2021 17:23

Just catching up on everybody. Hope everyone is ok today.

@icsi2021 great news :)

@StarryHannah hope your scan went well today :)

@edibletreats so sorry to hear this. I hope your ok and have lots of support. xx

@HopingForRainbow2021
I haven't coped as well during this TWW as I thought and its only 10 days, I'm ok its just been like the ultimate mind game. Somehow the day before the blood test is here i'm excited and terrified, but what will be will be. I've got to believe good things do happen.

I can see why you have felt disheartened after the phone call its a lot of information to take in. I don't think you've been unreasonable, they should of given you more of an explanation as to why there were going against there usual advice and not going day 3. Hope you got to speak to someone today. Its hard to feel positive especially like you say on progesterone but I think the embryologists must see great potential and growth in your embryo to go with the 5 day transfer. I really hope its growing nicely and your feeling better today. It only takes one.Take care keeping everything crossed for you xx

Bean99 · 25/02/2021 17:36

Hi all, I'm at the very start of my journey with ABC and very nervous. I'm 22, have PCOS and normal LH, FSH and AMH levels but don't have periods more than 3 times a year. I have my first scan on 25/03 and my consultation on 14/04. Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting please? How long after the first consultation did people have to wait before starting their meds etc?

Icsi2021 · 26/02/2021 12:59

@StarryHannah hope your scan goes well today x
@Bean99 i had my baseline scan 8th Feb and i am currently awaiting for my medication to be delivered & start on this cycle. So can be very quick, just so you dont hold things up make sure you have proof of smear and proof of rubella vaccination (mmr)

Bean99 · 26/02/2021 13:10

@icsi2021 Is the baseline scan the same as the first scan you have? Or is there another between that and starting treatment? I'm not at the age of smears yet so won't have that but I have recent bloods, mmr, and full STI checks. I'm just really confused at the process atm. There doesn't seem to be much information. Am I right in thinking it's first scan, initial consultation, treatment consultation/meds training, then starting meds, stim scans, collection then transfer/freezing?
Thanks! :)
