Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@StarryHannah thats crazy isnt it, maybe they will call me tomorrow, she did say they have been so busy i think they concentrate on whoever is starting treatment next, if you know what i mean x

StarryHannah · 19/02/2021 21:52

@Icsi2021 Debbie asked me if I had my thyroid checked too and I had in November so got my results from doctor for her.

She said she wanted to check thyroid as certain levels can affect implantation and she would prescribe something to help implantation if I needed it. My thyroid was fine, but just think even if your results aren't fine you will have a prescription to solve the issue. So either way your treatment will be able to go ahead as planned. (You prob know this but I thought me actually repeating what you know may help you not to worry over the weekend) I love how thorough Debbie is ... I didn't have anything mentioned about thyroid check in the previous clinic I had all my tests done at before moving to ABC xxx

@Icsi2021 @LeanneRW @HopingForRainbow2021 @StarryHannah.
Just would like to say that I am following all your journeys and it's making me very excited for my first consultation next month. I'm finding it alot easier to accept I have fertility issues, especially knowing other people are going through the same difficulties. This thread really helps and doesn't feel as alone or feel silly to ask questions because people are going through similar procedure.

I wish you all the best and I'll keep you allbposted on how my first appointment went.

Have a good week! x

Icsi2021 · 20/02/2021 00:23

@StarryHannah thats the exact words she said to me “dont worry if its abit high or low we will get it right before treatment” she is lovely. I love reading everyones updates and think of you all daily.
@IzzyStar i was reading this threat for at least a week before i built up the confidence to comment and im so glad i did and to hear people are going through the same thing at the same time as you helps you relax and think i can do this. Good luck with your appointment x

LeanneRW · 20/02/2021 08:38

@izzystar thank you, and welcome to the group 😊 xx

StarryHannah · 21/02/2021 09:50

@IzzyStar hiya! Welcome to this wonderful group. I hope you're doing okay.

@HopingForRainbow2021 I hope the trigger shot wasn't too bad and I'm thinking of you with your egg collection today

HopingForRainbow2021 · 21/02/2021 19:25

@IzzyStar hi, welcome to you :) If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask away.

@LeanneRW thinking of you - hope you have had a relaxing weekend :)

@StarryHannah thank you :) Trigger was absolutely fine. I have been a bit zonked today after the egg collection, but it all went absolutely fine. I felt very well taken care of, and it was actually really quite quick too. They got 10 eggs, so I am really happy with that. They also said that they were happy with the sperm after the thaw, and they were satisfied to do IVF rather than ICSI. I was pretty surprised as I had been convinced it would be ICSI - they said it usually is when they are using a frozen sample. Just hoping and hoping and hoping for some success and some positive news tomorrow xxx

StarryHannah · 21/02/2021 19:46

@HopingForRainbow2021 this is amazing news! I am so happy for you and your husband! Xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 21/02/2021 20:35

@StarryHannah thank you :) I’m looking forward to hopefully a reassuring call tomorrow 🤞
@Icsi2021it was 37 million per millilitre post thaw. Honestly as far as I’m concerned there’s no cheeky questions here - I’m happy to answer anything :)

HopingForRainbow2021 · 22/02/2021 09:25

Morning everyone :) just thought I’d update as I just had the call. Out of the 10 eggs 5 have fertilised, so I think that’s a good place to be starting from. They’re going to aim for a 5 day transfer on Friday, but will call weds with an update and change to weds if it seems necessary. Just going to try and relax a bit now!

StarryHannah · 22/02/2021 09:48

@HopingForRainbow2021 this is the best ever news on a Monday morning! So pleased for you xxx

LeanneRW · 22/02/2021 10:36

@HopingForRainbow2021 brilliant news so pleased for you 😊 take it easy over these next few days 😊

I had an allergic reaction (rash on my neck and chest) to the cyclogest I think it was that anyway I changed from the utrgeston because it was two times a day. It’s settled now I’ve swapped back. It’s probably the hormones but I range from blissfully happy to fearing the worse.

Hope everyone’s doing ok. Xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 22/02/2021 16:21

@StarryHannah thank you! It has given me a little boost. I had been worried as they had initially been pretty adamant that we would need ICSI - so I am really happy that we have 5 through IVF. I'm having a bit of a lazy day today so have been googling like mad - need to step away!

@LeanneRW Thank you - I am being lovely and lazy today, it makes a nice change! Oh no, I am so sorry you had such a nasty reaction. I'm glad it's settled now. Are you okay on the utrogestan? Three times a day for the utrogestan does feel like quite a lot. I am only three pessaries in and I'm already really disliking it!

HopingForRainbow2021 · 22/02/2021 16:23

@StarryHannah I hope you are doing okay so far. Does it feel like it's all starting to go really fast now you have started? I am looking forward to following your journey, and keeping fingers crossed for you for your upcoming egg collection :) xx

StarryHannah · 22/02/2021 17:28

Thank you @HopingForRainbow2021 Smile

I had my second scan this morning and first cetrotide injection. Scan was all good and looks like egg collection will be Friday but this will be confirmed Wednesday morning after my third scan Smile

Had another blood test and had the call that all is fine and to continue with same bemfola dosage in evenings, no need for tamoxifen tablets anymore as having the cetrovide injections in mornings now.

I know I keep saying it but I literally love my nurse - I'm so lucky to have such a kind person taking me through this process. Lots of follicles on my right, not so many on my left which is all good as we don't want too many. Debbie said we are aiming for 7 to 8 follicles and we are on track for that Smile

Thank so you much for thinking of me. How are you feeling? X

Beaglemum91 · 22/02/2021 20:07

Just wanted to pop up (I do check regularly and try try keep up with you all!) So happy things are going well for you @StarryHannah and @HopingForRainbow2021 it's so good to hear!
Welcome to everyone knew, can't wait to hear more of your stories!
I had my review last week and they've said our lack of blasts is likely my DH sperm issues. We think he may have high DNA frag so he's started on anti oxidents and omega 3 and they've said next round to do less than a days abstinence before EC to reduce the damage. We're probably going to try again in April so the anti oxidents et
have had time to work.
Fingers crossed for you all!

@Icsi2021 his results look like they're from 2013? If so he would need a new SA done, but the numbers look good with just a low count which is a good sign.

Icsi2021 · 22/02/2021 22:27

@Beaglemum91 yes it is an old 1 we have 1 booked for 25th March but i have my treatment appointment tomorrow so im guna see if we are able to move it a bit sooner just incase AF arrives soon 🤞🏼 Thank you for your help, GPs dont really give you detail just said “low count”
@StarryHannah really good news for you, good luck Wednesday x

Canavasha · 22/02/2021 22:34

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this thread for a while now and have found it really comforting. Hope you don’t mind me joining in. We’re with abcivf in Liverpool (although egg collection and embryo transfer will be in Manchester). We had our initial consultation back in December but our treatment consultation isn’t until March as we needed donor sperm. I’m really anxious/excited to get started now. I was wondering if anyone has followed any specific diets whilst doing ivf. I’ve cut out alcohol and caffeine and am taking the recommended supplements, but am really struggling to focus on my eating. My bmi was 27 at my initial consult and the nurse said it wouldn’t hurt to lose a few pounds. I’ve actually put 6lb on since then and although my bmi is still under 30 I’m worried I’m not doing enough to improve our chances!

LeanneRW · 23/02/2021 09:39

@HopingForRainbow2021 much better on the utrogestron in hindsight I shouldn’t of changed spent the day googling and worrying If allergy’s effect implantation. I imagined my tww being calm, doing yoga on my days off and waiting patiently for the blood test. It’s not been like that so far 😂 . Glad you had a lovely lazy day :) know what you mean the pesseries do take some getting used to.

@StarryHannah sound like your on the right track :) hope egg collection goes well. I know what you mean about the nurses, when I had my transfer one of them stood next to me with their hand on my shoulder it was so comforting. It’s makes such a difference at a vulnerable time.

@Canavasha welcome to the group, all the best with your upcoming appointments. I didn’t do an ivf diet. I just try to eat lots of fruit and vegetables, the nhs website is usually a good place to start. Good luck with it.

@Beaglemum91 good luck for April xx

Becky105 · 23/02/2021 12:21

Hi @Canavasha, we will need donor sperm too but our initial consultation isn't until March so I'm behind you in the process. I don't know a lot about the process of selecting donor sperm, so you have any info or advice? Did it cause a delay to when you could start Ivf?

Canavasha · 23/02/2021 12:46

Hi @Becky105, nice to hear from someone in a similar position! The clinic gave us a list of sperm banks with which they have some sort of link. There were a few on there including London Sperm Bank, Xytex, Fairfax and European Sperm Bank. I believe you can also use Cyros International. You will also have access to Create Fertility’s sperm bank (if you use this that’s where the quoted price of ivf including donor sperm comes from), however we found that the choice was very limited and you also get very limited info so we didn’t use their bank. We used London Sperm Bank and it was a very smooth process. What I will say is that there’s a big shortage of sperm at the moment, mainly due to covid. We found that we had to check LSB’s website numerous times a day (hourly!) as when new donors are uploaded they go really quickly. The international banks have more choice and you get more info, however it’s a little more complicated with shipping etc.
We ordered our sperm just before Christmas and we had confirmation from abc that it had arrived and had been processed at the beginning of February. I think that Christmas probably caused an extra delay too. I think we could’ve started this month realistically but they wanted a letter from my neurology consultant about my migraines so that has delayed things further. The other delay was prior to us being able to order the sperm - you have to have a CMV test first (if you’re positive you can select a positive or negative donor but if you’re negative it has to be a negative donor). The clinic will give you the specifics regarding how many vials to order, which motility etc.
I hope this helps but happy to answer any further questions!

Icsi2021 · 23/02/2021 12:50

Just had my treatment consultation and we are bringing husbands sperm analysis forward and good to go whenever cycle arrives x

HopingForRainbow2021 · 23/02/2021 13:05

@Icsi2021 that’s great news! I’m really pleased you have been able to get things moving. The waiting to get started is so hard
