Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@StarryHannah ah that is great news, I am so glad you are able to start now :) I haven't heard of tamoxifen, that seems like a really good plan. I don't think I am particularly high risk for OHSS but it is something I have been worried about. I would be devastated to have to wait months to recover fully and move forward. I also though my scan was early, but glad too as they tweaked bemfola down a bit.
I am honestly so glad that husband is doing it. It helps him be part of it too in a way, which we have found helpful so far. We struggled a bit with the certrotide this morning - the pre-filled pens are much more straightforward! Hoping practice makes perfect :D xxx

Icsi2021 · 16/02/2021 14:26

@StarryHannah i am also having tablets and injections as i have a high follicle count too x

Icsi2021 · 16/02/2021 21:42

@Hopeful1234567 how did it go x

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 23:04

@lcsi2021 went okay Thankyou for asking. Said at the moment it all points towards unexplained but the IVF may show up why we are having problems. My partner and I need some blood tests and it looks like I still need a second opinion on my uterus to check out the slightly heart shape so hopefully the following cycle after this next one we can start treatment x

HopingForRainbow2021 · 17/02/2021 19:21

@LeanneRWbi hope your transfer went well today and that you’re feeling okay :)

LeanneRW · 17/02/2021 22:16

@HopingForRainbow2021 it went well thank you 😊 waiting and hoping now xx

Hope your getting on ok with the cetrotide injections and progress scans are going well xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2021 17:36

@StarryHannah how are you getting on so far? Time really seems to start flying once you get going :) xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2021 17:42

@LeanneRW All seems okay so far. I don't love the cetrotide, but it's not for too long. I haven't really got much of an understanding about how the scans are going to be honest. There was fluid behind my left ovary yesterday but the nurse said that is fairly common and not to worry. She seemed to think I have about 8 follicles that look possible, but she also stressed that 5 - 8 is what they hope for, and made a big point of saying that this is a mild approach etc. I am just trying not to overthink it and hoping for good news tomorrow. She said they will be likely setting date for EC tomorrow.

StarryHannah · 18/02/2021 18:25

@HopingForRainbow2021 thank you for asking. The bemfola injection itself was actually fine. My husband did it and I felt it a little going in and coming out, but it wasn't a painful feeling (more of just like a touch feeling) not sure if that makes sense. It did sting a bit after (what did you do to stop the stinging?) But it wasn't that bad so I'm not even slightly dreading the next one tonight. As cheesy as it sounds i think i love my husband a little bit more as he was so patient and gentle with me.

We've been researching the certrocide ready and watched some videos. In the instruction booklet it says after putting injection in to pull the plunger back a little and check there's no blood, but the videos don't show this pulling back plunger before pushing medication in?! Do you do this? Xxx

StarryHannah · 18/02/2021 18:26

@HopingForRainbow2021 I will be thinking of you tomorrow! 8 follicles sounds really promising 😊 xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2021 19:14

@StarryHannah I use emla cream before the injections. Still get a little sting afterwards but really minimal. I’m a bit odd - I have a real issue with injections, but no problem having blood taken (even though that often hurts more). That doesn’t sound cheesy at all - I’ve found that too!

We haven’t done that with cetrotide no - we just watched the instructional video abc sent and followed that :/ xxx

StarryHannah · 18/02/2021 20:03

@HopingForRainbow2021 that's really helpful thank you. It wasn't the actually area where the injection went in that was stinging, it was stinging deep inside my belly. However, tonight the one my husband did on the right and I have no stinging whatsoever!

I'll ask my nurse in the scan tomorrow to send me the videos :)

How are you feeling? Xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2021 20:27

@StarryHannah honestly just exhausted. It’s taking almost 3 hours to drive each way to the clinic for scans, so I think that, along with the meds, is just taking its toll. How are you feeling?xxx

StarryHannah · 18/02/2021 20:35

@HopingForRainbow2021 oh my goodness. You must be so worn out! It will definitely all be worth it for you!

I'm feeling okay ta. I didn't sleep well last night but I think that was with the excitement of everything actually starting. I struggled to get up this morning as felt so tired so I'm really glad it's half term. I hope I sleep better tonight, but I know what I'm like and will prob be overthinking because of our scan tomorrow. Have you felt any different or unwell with the meds at all? Xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2021 20:40

@StarryHannah ugh I know what you mean - I’ve been like that too. Sometimes I wish the mind had an off switch! I’ve had a few headaches and occasional nausea, but all pretty mild. The tiredness has been the worst thing, and that’s partly all the driving I think xxx

Icsi2021 · 18/02/2021 22:01

@StarryHannah good luck in your scan tomorrow will be thinking of you
Im so excited to start now x

LeanneRW · 19/02/2021 07:41

@HopingForRainbow2021 sounds really promising, I’ll be thinking of you today. Hope everything goes well. Take care of yourself keep us updated xx

@StarryHannah hope your scan goes well.

I’m just waiting felt fine and uplifted on day of transfer now just feel worried thinking of the potential outcome. Heading back to work today I had a couple of days off, worrying I shouldn’t be going but think I might just of had too much time to think xx

Icsi2021 · 19/02/2021 08:54

@LeanneRW good luck with work, got everything crossed for you x

StarryHannah · 19/02/2021 10:43

Thank you @LeanneRW and @Icsi2021

How are you feeling today Leanne?

Icsi when are you looking at starting? :)

All good with the first scan. She measured 10 follicles on the right and 5 on the left. She said there were more smaller ones but no need to measure them. She said she was glad to only see only 5 on the left as when she was counting the right she was starting to worry (well not worry but I can't think of a better word) about the amount. She took a blood test to check my levels and going to ring me later to see if i need to decrease dose. Carrying on with the bemfola and tamoxifen over the weekend and then have my next scan on Monday morning 😊

I absolutely love my nurse Debbie. She's so nice.
Xxx

StarryHannah · 19/02/2021 11:23

@HopingForRainbow2021 i have been thinking about you today.

LeanneRW · 19/02/2021 14:20

@StarryHannah brilliant news all going in the right direction during your scan. Exciting! it’s getting closer :)

I feel better now I’m actually at work thanks, think I’d googled myself into a low mood, I’m sticking with being positive from now. Thank you icsi2021 Hope your ok xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 19/02/2021 14:34

@LeanneRW I can imagine - it must be so difficult to relax and stay positive, but definitely best to try. Have you found being at work helpful now you're there - just trying to occupy your mind with something else? I'm not able to work at the moment so will definitely have to find ways to keep mind occupied over the next couple of weeks, all being well.

@StarryHannah I'm glad your first scan went well :) That sounds like a really good start. I had blood tests alongside all my monitoring scans too. I think it's great that they keep such a close eye on it all.

My scan today was okay - still looks like we may be on track for 8, but I guess you can't really know until the day. We've been booked in for egg collection on Sunday, so have the trigger shot tonight at 11.45. May need a nap as was up at 5 for the drive up! Zzzz xx

LeanneRW · 19/02/2021 19:22

@HopingForRainbow2021 I feel so much better for going to work. But then I worry am I doing too much. Can’t win at the moment 😂. Friday can’t come soon enough 😊 get some books to read and activities to do to keep your mind occupied.

Sounds like a positive scan, when we got our eggs my partner put it this way which I hadn’t thought of. If you got 8 eggs that’s 8 months of trying all in one go. Which is pretty amazing. Get plenty of rest, all the best for Sunday xx

Icsi2021 · 19/02/2021 21:14

@StarryHannah i also had Debbie take blood today for my thyroid they were supposed to ring me tonight but havnt heard so maybe they are normal 🤞🏼
Oh thats a lot of follicles 😍 lets hope they stay good, thinking of you all x

StarryHannah · 19/02/2021 21:19

@Icsi2021 how funny that we may have even crossed paths!

She called me at 4.25ish to say my oestrogen levels are rising nicely and to continue with meds as they are.

When I had my other bloods with her she said she would only ring if something was wrong. Maybe send Debbie an email as she always responds x
