Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

StarryHannah · 15/02/2021 17:40

@LeanneRW fantastic news! So happy for you.

@edibletreats I will be following your story on your other thread

LeanneRW · 15/02/2021 18:37

@Icsi2021 thank you 😊 it’s nice to have positive news I’m trying not to get to carried away but it’s the furthest we’ve come so far so going to enjoy it. Wishing you all the best tomorrow. It’s a step closer hope it goes well. Keep me posted.

@StarryHannah thank you it’s a step in the right direction. I was told just a general during treatment which I suppose is the day of your first injection.

HopingForRainbow2021 · 15/02/2021 19:36

@Ragazzabela Will be keeping fingers and toes crossed that this is the time for you :) It really is easier said than done staying positive, but having this thread to come back to definitely helps.

@Icsi2021 aw I'm sorry, I'm not sure about getting the booster. Have you been able to ask GP for it at all?

@LeanneRW I have been thinking of you, and was so pleased to see your positive news. Will be keeping everything crossed for you Wednesday and beyond :) It was great to read how your egg collection went too - I have been a bit nervous about it. What day of your cycle did it end up being, if you don't mind me asking?

@StarryHannah the injections have been fine so far. I'm not brave enough to do them myself, so my husband is doing them, and has been doing a good job so far. I have been using emla cream which helps me mentally. I have a real issue with injections (I am fine with blood tests, weirdly, which often hurt more!). I am so sorry you had the false start with period. That must be really frustrating. Good thinking on trying to bring it on though - that could well work!

@Hopeful1234567 welcome :)I know it is really difficult, but there are many positive outcomes and we have to hold onto that. Have you read this whole thread? There are several positive outcomes here alone :)

@Whitney93 That is so lovely to hear! What a wonderful rate of success that is - it really lifted my spirits reading your post. I am definitely going to check out the headspace app too :)

I went in for my first progress check scan today. I didn't get much feedback other than one follicle is growing much faster than the rest. I had to have blood test to check hormone levels, and have had bemfola dose adjusted down to 112.5. I start the cerotide tomorrow morning - not looking forward to those to be honest!

Hopeful1234567 · 15/02/2021 20:23

@HopingForRainbow2021 Thankyou, yes I have it’s really reassuring to know we’re in good hands. Hope everything goes well for you. 🤞

Whitney93 · 15/02/2021 20:53

@Hopeful1234567 it really is crazy how many people actually suffer with infertility and until you experience it personally, you can’t explain or describe the feeling as you don’t understand it!
Sorry if I’ve confused you. My first round of ICSI was actually done at a different clinic in London, however I was fortunate enough to get it on the NHS. The rates they charge at this clinic are just ridiculous which is when I came across ABC and I’ve looked into it so much and feel that they are going to offer just as good a treatment as I got at my previous clinic and I’ve done my research into their success rates and threads like this one and all the responses and feedback seem really positive and successful. Every IVF if different and I completely understand and appreciate that but it’s nice to know what we’re going into.
I was and am the same. It’s only my partner and 1 close friend who know we went through and are going through this again. For me personally, having added pressure of friends/family constantly asking how things went, although with good intention, is just an added stress that I feel I don’t need! Some people like the support around them which again isn’t wrong, it’s just personal preference. I was 25 when I did my first round of ICSI and I’m 27 now and just like you, see fertility in a whole different light. I’m wishing you all the success and if you have any questions please just ask away! I will be once I start my treatment 🤣

@HopingForRainbow2021 ah I’m so pleased it has made you feel better about everything. Everyone’s treatment protocol and plans are different but that’s to give you the best chance of success 🙏🏼🤞🏽 I definately felt like have a positive mental attitude and clear head made it better for me though! And I followed some of the old wives tales...

  • ate lots of pineapple 🍍
  • stayed in bed for a couple of days after transfer (it probably didn’t make any different whatsoever! But my friend did it and it worked for her so I did the same 🤣)
  • didn’t use deodorant or perfumed products for my transfer and even for the week after kept everything minimal!

I’m sure I did more as well and was like a crazy women! But in my little mind I thought it was helping 🤣xx

Hopeful1234567 · 15/02/2021 21:14

@Whitney93 thanks so much for sharing your experience, it honestly makes me feel better and less alone as all I feel is nerves at the moment about the whole thing and like you say people who have been through an infertility diagnosis only understand I have so many friends who can get pregnant naturally and always tell me it’ll be my time soon or it’s just stress etc and try and understand what I’m going through, I know they’re coming from a good place but it doesn’t help me at all so like you that’s why I have chosen to tell nobody about it apart from the ones mentioned as it does add the extra pressure. I am nervous about being able to hide it at work, I am a full time teacher but will have to cross that bridge when it comes to it. Have all my fingers crossed for you 🤞. My consultation is tomorrow so hopefully will have an idea of the next steps. Thankyou so much again.

LeanneRW · 15/02/2021 22:35

@HopingForRainbow2021 that happened on my first scan too, I had egg collection on day 11. Look after yourself xx

Icsi2021 · 15/02/2021 22:51

@Hopeful1234567 i have my consultation tomorrow too maybe wel start the same time, good luck x

Hopeful1234567 · 15/02/2021 23:02

@lcsi2020 Thankyou you too! Yes potentially! Let me know how you get on tomorrow. Mine is at 3pm x

Icsi2021 · 15/02/2021 23:17

@Hopeful1234567 mine is 11:30 💗 i wont sleep tonight lol x

StarryHannah · 15/02/2021 23:38

@Hopeful1234567 I'm also a school teacher too. I work full time in a secondary school. I haven't told anyone at work... I'm going to try think of how to get away without telling them. My period was due this weekend so was hoping to get some scans in during half term, but it's my luck it's late. We've only told my best friend and her partner... she's currently 4 months pregnant from a successful IVF. I just can't cope with the thought of people knowing and asking questions etc xxx

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 08:43

@StarryHannah that’s exactly like me. I don’t want the questions or the pressure of people asking how it’s going/ gone and if it doesn’t work out I don’t want to feeling if everyone knowing either . My partner also works at the same school as me so feel like there is more of a chance people will find out. Always typical that if works out that way with your period! That’s great news about your friend! The friend I know who went through it didn’t even get to day 5 of making an embryo, they have unexplained infertility too so makes me abit anxious. Xx

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 08:44

@lcsi2021 same here! Counting down the hours now X

StarryHannah · 16/02/2021 08:49

@Hopeful1234567 my friend and her boyfriend knew their issue was low AMH levels. My husband and I are unexplained infertility like you. I know having a severely tilted womb is not the cause of our infertility (as every gynae, doc etc tells me) but I can't help but hope maybe that is the actual case and it'll be simple to solve (I'm too scared to think what else it could be as it petrifies me). Xx

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 08:55

@StarryHannah Completely agree with you there. We had our unexplained infertility diagnosis in November and it led me to being off work because I could not understand or cope with it at all. The unknowing was and still is awful especially as my partner already has a child, made it feel like it was me. The clinic said my womb is slightly dipped but I can continue with treatment I just need another scan so hoping this could explain why we’ve been struggling although the NHS said it was nothing to worry about. Like you say just hope this is all something simple that can be easily fixed via IVF. Xx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 16/02/2021 10:39

@Hopeful1234567 and @Icsi2021 I hope both of your treatment consultations go well today :)

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 11:13

@HopingForRainbow2021 Thankyou 😊 x

Becky105 · 16/02/2021 11:58

@Hopeful1234567 @StarryHannah I'm a teacher too, and I'm hoping not to tell work so I would love treatments to be during half terms or the summer holidays. I took note of needing a recent smear test and had one this morning. Got informed I have a cervical polyp, being booked for an internal scan to see if it is an indicator of endometriosis. It's worrying me a bit that the more investigations I have, it feels like the more problems we find. Obviously I'd rather know so that I can deal with them but it's not easy to process repeated reminders that I'm not invincible.

Whitney93 · 16/02/2021 11:58

Thinking of you @Icsi2021 and @Hopeful1234567... hope it all goes well today 🤞🏽🙏🏼

I know everyone’s protocols are different but could you all remind me of what the steps are (I honestly can’t remember from my 1st round).
Do you have you scan once your period comes and then start injections? And how long are you generally on injections for between starting and collection/transfer (in the ideal scenario) 🤞🏽
We’re just trying to work out when would be the best time to start all being well with my baseline and initial consultations. Xx

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 12:18

@Whitney93 Thankyou, I’m not too sure about that atm can let you the info later this afternoon. @Becky105 that is my hope too. My period seems to fall in the term time apart from the summer so not sure what to do about it. It is better to know but does add more stress and worry to what you are already going through. Really hope it all goes okay for you x

Icsi2021 · 16/02/2021 12:21

@Whitney93 thank you it went great, im not immune to rubella so have to that im booked in to GP for it tomorrow, treatment nurse is calling me either later on today or tomorrow.
@Hopeful1234567 the consultation went great they are so nice and calm you down! Just awaiting on treatment nurse to call and then for my period to arrive, i hope i have a 52 day cycle this month lol x

Hopeful1234567 · 16/02/2021 12:24

@lcsi2021 That’s fantastic news! Really pleased for you! Thankyou for letting me know, hope it all works out for you 💓. X

HopingForRainbow2021 · 16/02/2021 12:34

@Whitney93 I am only in the first week at the moment, but can let you know how it has worked out for me so far, and roughly what I think/hope is going to happen going forward. My day 1 of my cycle was last Friday. I was told to start the bemfola injections the following evening, and keep going with them the same time each evening. I was booked in for the first scan on day 4 (yesterday), at which point they also sent me for a blood test to check hormone levels. My bemfola was then reduced slightly to 112.5, and I was told to start the certrotide injections this morning. I have another scan booked tomorrow, and then another Friday - when I guess egg collection date will be set. Then I know you have to take the trigger shot exactly 36 hours before the EC. I hope that helps a bit :)

StarryHannah · 16/02/2021 13:56

@Icsi2021 wonderful news!

@HopingForRainbow2021 my period came this morning so today is my day 1, injections start tomorrow (I'm going to follow your lead and have my husband to mine too). My tamoxifen tablets start tomorrow too which I have been given to try and avoid OHSS ... I have high AMH and follicle count. They're starting me on low dosage of bemfola at 112.5. My first scan is booked in for Friday on day 4. I originally thought this was a little early as would have only had two injections, but I've just read about your day 4 scan and I'm now thinking this is a good thing 😊 xxx
