Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@Patienceisnotmyvirtue I feel for you. 6 months isn’t long - but I can totally relate to your username! With ABC’s mild approach it could be a good place to start for you. Any questions, please do ask :)

Patienceisnotmyvirtue · 10/02/2021 14:49

@HopingForRainbow2021 I know you're right, it isn't long at all. I guess it's just that more or less from the start of this I've known we haven't got great odds with our combined issues. So I never had that hopeful, excited stage, and now by six months in I'm just fed up and want to help things along. And yes my username is very accurate!

Patienceisnotmyvirtue · 10/02/2021 14:52

I sound like such a spoilt brat, reading this back, when I know so many other people here have been trying for years. Sorry to anyone I've annoyed with my whining.

XMummyTyx · 10/02/2021 14:58

@Patienceisnotmyvirtue don't be silly everyone has there own stories there own reasons we all want the same thing in the end :) ..@strawberry08.. congratulations looks good positive on that way considering your only 10dpo good luck :)

HopingForRainbow2021 · 10/02/2021 16:34

@XMummyTyx I am East Sussex too, but chose to go with Harley Street. Wimbledon will definitely be more straightforward for driving though - I have found parking at Harley St, but with congestion charge etc it is bumping costs up.

XMummyTyx · 10/02/2021 18:51

@HopingForRainbow2021
Thank you, oh dear yes that can be expensive. I can't start for few months yet.
But so exited to do it :)

Ragazzabela · 10/02/2021 20:39

@Strawberry08 congrats, very happy for you, hope all works well.x

To everyone else embarking at this journey wish you all very good luck, hope you all get positive results at the end. I have my scanned booked for next week. Going to be my fourth attempt, so abit nervous and anxious, but we all have to stay positive, is easy saying than done. x

Becky105 · 10/02/2021 22:55

I'm feeling the impatience of getting started too. Just put my first appointment for initial scan into my calendar and it helpfully have me a countdown... 30 days and that was the earliest they had. I've also suddenly found myself quite stressed at the realisation that I need to make changes to get my body in better condition for this process. It's hard to know where to start, all of a sudden I'm googling folic acid supplements at 2am. Confused

HopingForRainbow2021 · 11/02/2021 09:58

Well AF arrived for me late yesterday, so today is my day one. First jab tomorrow evening.

I am really hoping I can curb my sugar addiction a bit.... but it's a pain as its always at its worst this time of the month. I just want to hibernate and eat chocolate. The advice also seems to be high protein and low carb... any tips on managing this would be very welcome! Caffeine and alcohol were the first to go, but I know I am going to struggle with the rest.

LeanneRW · 11/02/2021 11:28

@Strawberry08 just catching up on all the threads , fantastic news so pleased for you xx

@HopingForRainbow2021 I’ve just finished the injections I took my last ones last night, egg collection tomorrow, I can’t say I changed my diet too much I usually have a balanced diet. I haven’t denied myself anything but what you could try is making sure you have lots of alternative snacks in. Nuts and a full fruit bowl. I brought strawberries and a pineapple, so sweet, would do the trick. Good luck xx

I’ve felt ok on the injections, although I did do two night shifts at the start of them so it was hard to tell if I was shattered because of the injections or the shifts. The staff at Manchester have been lovely and reassuring when I’ve been in for bloods/scans. Just hoping they are maturing nicely, I suppose they won’t be able to tell until they see if they fertilise not really sure. I’ll let you all know how egg collection goes tomorrow. Wishing you all the best. Thank you all it’s a great support having this group, if I can help with any questions about the process up until egg collection just let me know xx

Icsi2021 · 11/02/2021 12:12

Strawberry08 · 11/02/2021 12:30

Thank you everyone!!

@HopingForRainbow2021 good luck with your injections, fingers crossed all goes well x

HopingForRainbow2021 · 11/02/2021 15:48

@LeanneRW thank you so much, that is really reassuring, and really good tips about snacks :) I have a delivery coming Sunday so will add nuts and more fruit to that. Can I ask how you found the injections themselves? Will be thinking of you tomorrow, and really hope egg collection goes well with plenty of lovely mature eggs :)

@Icsi2021 I know, it seems so strange to be wanting it to come! I hope you're not kept waiting too long :)

@Strawberry08 thank you! Wishing you all the best :) x

Becky105 · 11/02/2021 20:20

@edibletreats just wanted to let you know you've been in my thoughts. I hope you're well.

edibletreats · 11/02/2021 20:58

Aww @Becky105 bless you.

I actually did type something earlier but didnt post as felt like such a debbie downer!
Bloods came back having more than doubled in 72hrs. The clinic have referred me to the Early Preg Unit at my local hosp but when I called them they said they wont see me until at least 6wks, especially as hcg is so low. So they have booked me in for a week tomorrow. I tried to explain that I am scared of ectopic having had one which led to a ruptured tube back in Sep and I was told I need to go to A&E if I have any bleeding or pain before my appt. I feel a bit lost now, not to mention second guessing every twinge and cramp. I do think it might be ectopic but just hope its caught or resolves itself before it becomes a problem.

Anyway, how is your line progression? I really hope its a sticky one for you :)

Icsi2021 · 11/02/2021 21:38

Any1 know anything about the rubella vaccine? My GP cant find any info about me having it but said i would of deffo of had it if i hadn't of had it after i had my son? Any1 kno if the clinic can do 1? 😩 x

HopingForRainbow2021 · 11/02/2021 21:55

@Icsi2021 I knew I’d had vaccine but couldn’t find evidence, so just got another blood test done privately. It was £40 I think - I just had it done to avoid any delays x

Icsi2021 · 11/02/2021 23:21

@HopingForRainbow2021 any ideas if i havnt actually had rubella vaccine does the clinic do boosters? Or has it got to be my GP? X

LeanneRW · 12/02/2021 13:34

Thank you everyone for your wishes.

@edibletreats hope your doing ok x

@HopingForRainbow2021 I didn’t find the injections too bad it’s a bit daunting at first but once you’ve done the first few you’ll be a pro, good luck with it.

I’ve just got back from egg collection, I felt nervous about the sedation but now it’s done I shouldn’t of worried, actually woke up feeling pain free and refreshed. Just being made some lunch :) they got 13 eggs, the embryologist should be calling later. Hoping they do well over the weekend, I’ll keep you posted xx

StarryHannah · 14/02/2021 17:25

Anyone had any updates over the weekend? There's quite a few of us chatting now :) So lovely.

@HopingForRainbow2021 how are the injections going? I'm feeling nervous but excited. My period started last night and there has been nothing at all today ... my body playing tricks on me I think! Xx

Hopeful1234567 · 14/02/2021 19:51

Hello. I hope you don’t mind me joining the thread. I have had my baseline scan last week with ABC. They said everything was fine apart from the fact my uterus has a slight dip, I was aware of this via the NHS but they told me it was nothing to worry about. ABC have asked me who told me that and said I will need another scan but I can start treatment. Feel very anxious about it all my partner and I have been TTC for 2 years and we have unexplained infertility according to the NHS. My partner already has a child, so the process has been very upsetting. I have only really heard negative experiences of IVF via friends where is they have not been been able to create an embryo. Any feedback about IVF would be great. We have our consultation this week. X

Whitney93 · 14/02/2021 21:32

Hello @Hopeful1234567, I have my baseline next month and initial consultation. It is so nice that we have this group where we can all speak and go through our journeys together!
I’m hoping to start my 2nd ICSI cycle ASAP and my first thankfully resulted in my 16 month old son.
Out of my close friends, 6 of us have gone through IVF/ICSI and out of us all only 1 of us was unsuccessful on our first round. You hear so many horror story’s about IVF, but it really is an amazing thing. Technology and treatments have changed so much over the years and they now know more about what works and doesn’t. Please don’t let it stress you out hearing negative story’s. You need to go into your treatment with positive thoughts and no stress. I found the ‘headspace app’ really good to help me relax and zone out to have a clear and open mind.
Everyone’s journeys are so different but you are in the best hands and the team know what they are doing so you have to trust their recommendations.

Thinking of everyone else on their journeys ❤️

Hopeful1234567 · 14/02/2021 21:54

@Whitney93
Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply and your response. It does help in this situation to have other people’s experiences who have been through IVF but also through this clinic. It is one of those situations I went naively in to and thought my partner and I could conceive like that as at the time I was 26. Been a massive learning curve and totally see fertility in a whole different light. When we were diagnosed with infertility it was the worst feeling because there was no answer. No one knows I am going through this apart from my boss at work and a close friend who has not had great experience with IVF. It definitely helps having this thread. I’m so pleased it worked out for you and you are going back to the clinic again! Gives me hope. X

edibletreats · 15/02/2021 10:20

Hi ladies,

I created a separate thread for some advice on my hcg - the saga continues!
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/4166064-Slow-hcg-which-is-now-doubling

Didn't want to take up too much space here as I appreciate the nature of the conversation is slightly different.

Any insights/experiences welcome!

LeanneRW · 15/02/2021 12:02

I’ve had an update from the embryologist, I’m booked in on Wednesday for a day 5 transfer. Excited and nervous. Full of hope. What a journey, since egg collection (Friday) I’ve felt tiered and a bit sick. I never had any pain. Today I feel much better.

@StarryHannah my period did that and it’s always on time, hope your going on ok.

Hope everyone is :) keep sharing and talking, wishing everyone all the best xx
