Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@edibletreats how exciting! Your transfer is tomorrow already!!! It looks like your embryo is dividing quickly that sounds like a great number of cells on day 2! Let us know how it all goes!

BRainbow21 · 24/01/2021 08:07

@edibletreats I was told that anything between 6-10 on day 3 is good so that has to be amazing on day 2!

@Beaglemum91 @Luckfor2021 I really didn't want to test as I'm so scared about the false results, either way I think they can be so stressful or disappointing.. But I'm not sure if I have enough willpower to wait until my blood test. Will see...

Wishing everyone the best of luck!!

Hi everyone, hope it’s ok if I join in. I’m with ABC at Manchester, medications are being delivered on Tuesday and my period should start on the 30th Jan, first time so feeling apprehensive 😬 I don’t know anyone who’s had ivf, so it’s been great reading your threads. It’s really given me more of an idea of what to expect. I wish you all lots of luck. Smile Leanne x

HopingForRainbow2021 · 24/01/2021 18:41

@LeanneRW welcome! I can completely understand - this will be my first time too, although not due to begin for another couple of weeks (all being well).

@edibletreats I really hope transfer went well, and that you are feeling okay. Will be hoping that the 2ww goes as smoothly and quickly as possible for you :)

@Beaglemum91 and @Luckfor2021 I hope you are both doing okay. I can only imagine at this stage how hard the wait must be, but I will stay so hopeful for you, both that the wait is bearable and that the outcome is positive :)

@StarryHannah I am hoping to get results in the next couple of days - fingers crossed that there won't be a spanner in the works.

The only other potential barrier to starting in Feb cycle is getting husbands frozen sperm from Sussex clinic to London - I foolishly thought this would be straightforward! I am so impatient - I just want to join you all on this journey now.

Preston12 · 24/01/2021 19:34

Hi guys quick question I have my second scan tommorow and only have 2 bemfola injections left ? Has this happend to anyone do you have to order more I haven’t had any cetrotide injections and I’m on day 6 of injections ? X

Luckfor2021 · 24/01/2021 21:33

@HopingForRainbow2021 thank you! I completely understand your impatience! I wanted to start straight away too and had to wait for 2 months to get my rubella vaccine sorted and wait to have immunity. I hope you can start in February!
@Preston12 I wouldn’t worry about the bemfola injections. If you need some more they should give them to you at your scan tomorrow. Every person is different and needs longer/shorter treatment depending on how you respond to the drugs. In my case I have an extra bemfola sitting in the fridge, but I’ve read previous posts that some women needed extra ones.
Let us know how your scan looks tomorrow!
Hopefully you can start on cetrotide soon!

Luckfor2021 · 24/01/2021 21:35

@edibletreats how did you transfer go!? I hope you’re feeling well!

Preston12 · 24/01/2021 21:45

Thank you and will do I don’t start ovulating till Thursday so was wondering if I would need the cetrotide or not ? X and yes will let you no what they say and if they give me more bemfola this is my 2nd ivf with icis this time so fingers crossed x

Preston12 · 24/01/2021 21:46

@Luckfor2021 good luck for your blood test x

LeanneRW · 24/01/2021 21:48

Thank you, there are so many possible outcomes for every single step of the way it’s invaluable reading everyone’s experiences. X

Beaglemum91 · 25/01/2021 00:26

Welcome @LeanneRW! I'm with Manchester too, they are lovely there and will really look after you.

@Preston12 I had to have more bemfola, at your scan they will ask if you have enough to get to your next scan if you need one. They will start your cetrotide when your follicles have grown enough to stop you ovulating and you'll have that until your trigger. Dont worry about when you would normally have ovulated as they control it all this cycle so they can time EV perfectly.

@edibletreats hope your transfer went well!

@HopingForRainbow2021 I hope everything goes to plan. I feel like IVF is one big long waiting game!

BRainbow21 · 25/01/2021 08:44

@Beaglemum91 wouldn't say it better "big waiting game": you wait for your first scan, then anxiously wait for your period to start treatment, then have to wait for the first treatment scan.. Wait for egg collection, for egg transfer, for the pregnancy test... And I can only imagine it goes on and on after that!

On a side note, has any of you experienced dry skin, specially hands and lips? I would blame the cold but I've barely been outside as working from home.. Could it be from progesterone? I haven't seen it written anywhere as a side effect but this has never happened to me before... What about the cramps how long does this last? They're not very intense or anything but it seems to last forever after the embryo transfer.. Weird!

Thinking about all of you in all your different stages of your IVF journey. All the luck!!

Beaglemum91 · 25/01/2021 09:15

@BRainbow21 I haven't noticed it but it old well be. I got some nice hand moisturiser for Christmas so I've been using that which maybe why I wouldn't notice! My crams lasted almost a week, but I think some of mine was also that the effects of EC took about a week to go so I think it was a combination. I still get them now and then but they're barely noticeable now and I think just a progesterone side effect.

edibletreats · 25/01/2021 10:27

Hi all,

So nice to see so many new people joining, welcome to all!

Thanks for thinking of me, transfer went well. It was a grade A embryo, 8 cells - so fingers crossed! Feeling ok, just quite tired. And a little crampy. Blood test will be on the 4th of Feb but I'm not going to pretend that I will wait that long...!

ForeverHopeful17 · 25/01/2021 11:01

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you all? I've been following this thread as I'm hoping to start IVF with ABC. I have my first appointment tomorrow at the Wimbledon branch. What can I expect at this appointment? My next cycle starts on the 15th of Feb, do you think I would have enough time between tomorrow's appointment and the 15th to start?

This will be my first round of IVF and I'm super excited and nervous at the same time.

Good luck to all of you lovely ladies in the TWW x

Beaglemum91 · 25/01/2021 11:22

@edibletreats so glad it went well, welcome to the tww!! Sounds like a good little embryo so fingers crossed :)

Welcome @ForeverHopeful17! The first appointment is for them to have a look at you, mine was under 30 minutes, they asked a few questions and then get you to lay down while they give you an internal scan. They will count your follicles, check for any abnormalities, check blood flow, check the uterus etc to make sure you're all good ans ready :) then they will talk through what they found with you and the rest of the process in your consultation.
I would say that depending on their demand right now you will be lucky to start on the 15th. After your consultation you will need to book a treatment consultation which could take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks, have bloods (normally pretty easy to get them booked) and get your meds delivered (about a week). So unless they are quiet I would say prepare for March. I know it may be disappointing but it gives you time to take it all in and digest it and ask any questions you have and be able to relax for a bit and get into a good mental place before you start :)

If it helps. I had:
Baseline scan - 20\11
Virtual consultation - 24/11
Bloods - 28/11
Treatment consultation - 3/12
Meds arrived - 16/12 ( I delayed a few days due to work)
First injection - 3/1

ForeverHopeful17 · 25/01/2021 11:41

Thank you so much @Beaglemum91 for taking the time to explain. I suppose it would be sensible to wait till my March cycle rather than rushing for Feb, I'm just a bit panicky as DH leaves the UK at the start of April for a couple of months and that is cutting it close but I guess his sperm could be frozen if necessary.

How have you found the process with ABC so far, I see you have not long left to wait now I've got my fingers crossed for you x

Beaglemum91 · 25/01/2021 12:10

@ForeverHopeful17 not a problem! I would definitely discuss that with them so you know your options. When is your consultation? They may be able to move things faster for you given the circumstances depending on when your cycles fall with him being away.

I've found the process great, its my first time and they explained everything to me, answered all my questions and really look after you throughout the process. I've not got long now, bloods Friday but might have to test before then!

Preston12 · 25/01/2021 13:18

Hi just got out of 2nd scan they sent me for a hormone blood test as they think my follicles are growing to quick I have to start cetrotide today they are calling me later with a plan to try slow them down she said I’ll probably be in first for egg collection x

StarryHannah · 25/01/2021 15:06

@ForeverHopeful17 I would have caught my first month if I had my smear results back in time. I'm based in Cardiff. You never know! As @Beaglemum91 said explain your situation and I'm sure they'll do all they are able to see if they can manage it.

Fingers crossed for you! Xxx

Beaglemum91 · 25/01/2021 15:12

@Luckfor2021 I hope everythings going well with your cat. Have to managed to rearrange your blood test? Also, when you started testing, did you do it with your OH or on your own? DH isn't sure if he wants to test before as he says he doesnt want to get hopes up if its a false result but I really want to before bloods so I'm not waiting around all day not knowing!

Luckfor2021 · 25/01/2021 18:49

Hi @Beaglemum91! Well not good news with my cat I’m afraid...he’s been diagnosed with lymphoma and we’re not sure how long he we will be with us :(
I managed to reschedule my blood test and I’ll be going tomorrow afternoon and get the results the next day. I could have gone this evening but I really just wanted to stay home with my furry baby.
I started testing on my own after 7 days of embryo transfer, I got a faint line but visible, day 8, 9 looked stronger and day 10 similar to day 9. I used 6 days early clearblue tests but on day 10 I used a cheap boots one too and the line looked pretty nice in my opinion. Today I only had a digital test left that said pregnant so not sure about how strong the line would be...
I should know if the levels of hCG are normal on Wednesday...please some good news!

ForeverHopeful17 · 25/01/2021 19:06

Thank you @Beaglemum91 and @StarryHannah I will speak to them tomorrow and see what's best.

@Luckfor2021 so sorry to hear about your cat but I'm so happy to see you have multiple BFPs. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Wednesday

HopingForRainbow2021 · 25/01/2021 19:53

@Luckfor2021 I am so sorry to see the news about your cat. They are family and I know how hard it is when they are unwell or lost. I am so, so happy for you though with you BFP's. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for really good hCG levels :)

@ForeverHopeful17 I completely understand wanting to get started. It feels like a waiting game to even get started let alone all of the stages to follow!

@Beaglemum91 you're getting there - Friday will arrive. I can imagine it must feel like the longest weeks ever. Will be thinking of you ad hoping for a positive! My DH feels the same about early testing generally - when we were in a position to try naturally I always felt tempted to test before I was due on, and he was always against it, but wouldn't stop me of I was adamant - if that makes sense!

@edibletreats I am so glad transfer went well! Will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed for you too :)

Beaglemum91 · 26/01/2021 09:31

Sorry about your cat @Luckfor2021, one of ours had similar a few years ago and there was nothing they could do. It is horrible, but at least you can make every day special with lots of treats now. Fingers crossed for some good news on your bloods.
