Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@edibletreats how did you collection go? How are you feeling? Been thinking of you!

@Luckfor2021 how are you feeling now? Mt boobs are getting a bit better so I think mine were bad from the high trigger.

edibletreats · 22/01/2021 09:54

Morning all

EC went well, they got 6 which is decent, I think?

They did decide to do ICSI which I agreed to as I just didnt want the ‘what if’s?’ to surface if I refused it...

Waiting on a call from the embryologists today to see how many fertilised. Still feeling a bit crampy but hopefully that will subside.

Hope everyone is doing well!

StarryHannah · 22/01/2021 10:22

@edibletreats ... so happy for you. And yes 6 is definitely a good number :) My nurse said a good number is between 5 and 10 eggs :) That's what they hope to see :)

I am on this Facebook group (mainly American people) and one woman had 63 eggs removed! Shock 63!!! Surely that is not good for her at all! Xxx

Beaglemum91 · 22/01/2021 10:32

@edibletreats that's brilliant! So glad it went well and they got some good eggs! Rest up and relax for a bit as your hard work is done (for a bit!).

Omg, thats a lot of eggs! I can't imagine what that must have felt like!

edibletreats · 22/01/2021 11:10

Unfortunately only 4 eggs were good enough for ICSI and out of them only one fertilised. Literally all eggs in ons basket now. Not the best news but we move. My transfer will be on Sunday.

@Beaglemum91 @Luckfor2021 Any tips for transfer. How long does it take?

Beaglemum91 · 22/01/2021 11:32

@edibletreats sorry to hear that, I know getting unexpected news like that is awful, but I'm learning to have a little cry and move on and stay positive. I'm sure they will do an early transfer and you can provide a much better environment for it to grow! We are all here cheering you and your embryo on :)

My tip is to relax. It was a bit similar to a smear (speculum in first). Mine was in the same room as EC. They will talk to you and then get you to lay back and strap your legs in the same way. It didn't hurt at all for me and I hardly felt anything really. They scan your tummy at the same time and talk you through it. You have to change into a gown again so unwired bra if you want to keep it on. It was uncomfortable getting scanned but I have a very very full bladder as they were a bit delayed. I had to have it twice as the embryo didn't come out first time and the second time was a bit more uncomfortable and hurt a little but I think that was just because I had to have the catheter put back in and was probably a bit sensitive after the first. You get to pee straight after! One tip is to count how many more days of pessaries you have as they ask if you have enough. I didnt know until I got home that I would be 2 short as my blood test fell 15 days after EC, not 14.

Best thing you can do is rest up, drink lots of fluid and get yourself in a good position for transfer Smile

Beaglemum91 · 22/01/2021 11:33

Oh and it took maybe 25 minutes for me but they had to reload the embryo and do the whole thing twice!

Luckfor2021 · 22/01/2021 12:40

Hi ladies! I missed so many messages! It’s been really busy at work but helped me not think about every symptom all the time!
@edibletreats sorry you didn’t receive the news you wanted...it’s a tough journey so keep thinking about your fertilised one! Maybe it will make it! Try to rest and feel well for the transfer. A big hug is going your way!

My embryo transfer took 10 min and I really didn’t feel anything...it does feel like a smear test, at least for me! I drank too much before arriving and they let me empty my bladder a little bit before having the transfer! Which was great because I though I wouldn’t make it..hahah

Now my boobs are more normal and I feel better too! @Beaglemum91 how are you doing?

Beaglemum91 · 22/01/2021 12:51

@Luckfor2021 glad you're keeping busy, it is hard not to think about it! I'm feeling pretty normal too now, still a bit sore but otherwise fine. Light cramping now and then, but think its the progesterone causing everything now.

Have you decided if you're going to test early?

Luckfor2021 · 22/01/2021 14:13

Yes...I actually have to confess I've tested already and I can actually see a faint line!! I just don't believe it entirely so I will continue testing these days until the blood test on Monday. I'm slightly excited but very cautious and aware that it's not a definite answer. But at least it's more of a positive than a negative?....I like to think about it this way :)

Preston12 · 22/01/2021 23:24

Hi all I’m just on my second round of ivf with abc Harley street as our first was unsuccessful 11 eggs and none made it
I had my first scan today this time we are going to use Icis I was supposed to start cetrotide tomorrow but nurse told me not to and hold of til after the second scan on Monday has this happened to anyone else ? X
Hope your all well

BRainbow21 · 23/01/2021 09:06

Hi everyone

I hope you don't mind me joining... I read some of your messages in this thread. Well done everyone, you are all so strong!!
I'm also with abc IVF Harley street, just done the embryo transfer.. Now is just to wait Confused I feel like it may be the worst part of the process!! I thought maybe if I join it will help me go through by sharing some of my experiences, it may also help someone else 😊

@Preston12 this happened to me with the cetrotide. Bless the nurse, she was lovely but she used a term that really worried me, she said "don't start your cetrotide as your eggs are still tiny" = TOTAL PANIC for me 😱 but don't worry, they know what they're doing... The next scan the nurse said I had very good folicles!! It's just everyone has their own pace, but it doesn't mean that is better or worse

Preston12 · 23/01/2021 10:01

@BRainbow21 omg how exciting for you how many eggs did you get if you don’t mind me asking ?
we never made it to a transfer last time they rang us on the day to say unfortunately it was not any good to transfer was so upsetting I am really hoping this time we make it it’s been such a emotional journey how long was you on injections before egg collection ? I started mine on Tuesday night so thinking maybe il have egg collection next Friday ? X

BRainbow21 · 23/01/2021 11:41

@Preston12 really sorry to hear that. It must had been devastating. I'm glad you're able to try again!! All my fingers crossed for you

We got 13 eggs on the retrievel. 12 were mature.. We also went for ICSI, which I wasn't very keen on initially tbh. But now I'm glad we did it as 9 eggs fertilised!

I had 11 days of injections + the day of the trigger. So 12 in total. It didn't go exactly as "per the calendar" they initially give us, I think it depends on how patients respond to the stimulation.

Preston12 · 23/01/2021 12:27

Thank you yes was so upset we was just about to leave for the transfer when we got the phone call 😞 can I ask when you started cetrotide what day into taking bemfola? X good luck to you

Luckfor2021 · 23/01/2021 12:28

@Preston12 and @BRainbow21 welcome to the group! Yes I believe you should only start cetrotide when the follicles have reached a certain size. This is why they probably want to wait a bit.
Brainbow I know how it feels! I had my transfer 9 days ago! I wish you luck!
Preston good luck with your new cycle too!
@Beaglemum91 and @edibletreats how are things going for you?
I did another test today and the line is looking darker...I won’t be able to go for the blood test on Monday because my cat needs a surgery :( (they just found a mass in his intestine today) so they told me a nurse would call me today or Monday to talk about my result.

Preston12 · 23/01/2021 12:40

Good luck @Luckfor2021 how exciting for you you must be so pleased with the line? X I so hope this happens for us x

Beaglemum91 · 23/01/2021 13:18

@Luckfor2021 omg thats amazing news! So sorry about your cat though :( hopefully they can rearrange bloods so you can still have them, I think its reassuring to have them and know levels etc. Have you had any symptoms etc?

I'm doing okay, sore boots, slight cramps but think its all just medication and won't tell till next week (staying strong!)

@Preston12 and @BRainbow21 welcome!

Brainbow when did you have transfer? Welcome to the tww with us!

Preston, I would trust they know what they're doing :) it can be worrying, I got a call asking me to come in for a Tuesday scan on Monday night and panicked but it was just so they could make sure they could everything in time for a fresh transfer. This is what they do and they're good at it :)

BRainbow21 · 23/01/2021 14:05

Thank you ladies 🥰

@Luckfor2021you need to tell me how to survive this 2 long weeks. But omg.. Very exciting you have a line, specially if it's getting darker!! Sorry about your cat though. I also have one and I know how it can feel when they're not well. Good luck with everything!

@Beaglemum91 I had my transfer on Thursday. I understand you had your transfer recently too? I'm just like you.. Watching every single change and twitch in my body!! As much as I know I shouldn't..

@Preston12 if I remember correctly I started my cetrotide on day 7 and only did 4 injections

Beaglemum91 · 23/01/2021 14:14

@BRainbow21 mine was Sunday so almost a week ago already! It has gone fast to be fair and my blood test is booked for next Friday :)

Luckfor2021 · 23/01/2021 16:03

@Beaglemum91 and @BRainbow21 thank you! I’ve been a cat mom for more than 10 years now and he is a part of my family! So it’s been a terrible day I have to say.
The nurse called and said that is very good news I had a positive test but that I still need to reschedule the bloods obviously. So I have to call abc on Monday to get another appointment at one point next week.
I actually have less symptoms now (9dp5dt) than I had before. My boobs are less sore and I only feel abdominal cramps sometimes. It sort of feels like period cramps. I do feel pretty tired all day but then at night I wake up quite often...not sure if it’s the progesterone!
@beaglemum when are you going to start testing?
Have a nice weekend everyone

Beaglemum91 · 23/01/2021 16:24

@Luckfor2021 I feel for you, we have always had cats and they are family as much as anyone else and you'd do anything for them. Sounds similar then as I have pretty much nothing lol. Cramps are only now ans then and really hardly there which is why I feel its progesterone as ita not really much different to normal. I'm still only 6dp3dp so probably not until at least mid next week! EC was Thursday so I think next thursday at 14 days should be good to show shouldn't it?

Luckfor2021 · 23/01/2021 16:42

@Beaglemum91 aww that’s true I would definitely do anything for them! And thinking that they could be suffering breaks my heart.

I started testing 7dp5dt and I already saw a faint line. Today I’m exactly 14 days from EC and have a nice line so I think it’s a good time to test. Just be aware that each persons hCG levels are different so it could be faint or get a false negative! I used a clear blue 6 days early which is a bit more sensitive than the standard ones. Also, I read that any residual hCG from the trigger shot ovitrelle should be out of our body after a maximum of 10 days :) I really hope we get good news from you this week!

edibletreats · 23/01/2021 19:46

@Luckfor2021 bahhh how exciting! Really hope its a sticky one! I’m doing ok, had a zoom chat with some friends today so generally feeling more positive mood wise. Transfer is tomorrow, they told me the embryo is 6 cells? Is that right? I keep reading its usually 2-4cells on day 2

@Beaglemum91 you have serious willpower, well done!

Beaglemum91 · 23/01/2021 20:18

@edibletreats I think it can be 6, it gets to about 8-10 day 3 normally, mine was transfered on day 3 (8 cell) but already clustering like it should on day 4 and they said some develop slightly quicker which isn't a bad thing at all. Fingers crossed for you!

I have will power as I'm worried about getting a bfn early and stressing! I'd rather wait a bit longer :) I will keep you all updates though!
