Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@Beaglemum91 are you planning to do a urine pregnancy test before the beta? I’m thinking of maybe doing one around Friday which is 8 days after embryo transfer...

Beaglemum91 · 18/01/2021 13:53

@Luckfor2021 I am thinking of it (mainly as I have tests left from the so why not use them lol). I'm not sure when to test as I had a day 3 so I guess it will take longer to develop so I may wait till a couple of days before my beta

Beaglemum91 · 18/01/2021 13:53

Gosh, from TTC (phone autocorrect!)

edibletreats · 18/01/2021 17:02

@Beaglemum91 glad to hear all went well yesterday.
Fingers crossed for both you and @Luckfor2021 and keep us posted on any pee on a stick developments!

I went in for another scan and bloods today. EC booked in for Thursday so will be triggering tomorrow. Feels like the longest short protocol ever!

Luckfor2021 · 18/01/2021 17:07

@Beaglemum91 yes probably a couple of days before our beta is a good idea! But it’s still so far away!
@edibletreats how long have you been on the injections? It does seem pretty long! But the most important thing is that your eggs are ready! How many big follicles do you have?

edibletreats · 18/01/2021 17:18

@Luckfor2021
I'm on day 12 of my cycle and EC will be on day 15. 11 days since I started injections. Was a bit weird to me too as I usually naturally ovulate on day 12 or 13. So would have assumed EC would be on a similar day? I dunno, my period was a quite light this month too so maybe its just a weird cycle.

Trusting in the process but getting increasingly uncomfortable/bloated now..!

There are 2 that are too big and a group of around 12-15 clustering around the almost ready for EC stage.

Luckfor2021 · 18/01/2021 17:47

@edibletreatsbi think the dates don’t match exactly your cycle as it will depend how you respond to the treatment. For me it was really fast and actually before my normal ovulation date. You have great numbers!!
Thursday will be here sooner than you think!

Beaglemum91 · 18/01/2021 18:46

@edibletreats that sounds great! So EC Wednesday or Thursday? I wouldn't worry about timing as luck said, mine was after I would normally ovulate and this isn't a normal cycle as theyre messing with your hormones and trying to get more eggs so It all comes down to your response :)

edibletreats · 19/01/2021 08:20

Thanks both, yes triggering today and EC on Thurs.

Had a slight panic yesterday as I got additional Bemfola from the clinic which only went up to 75ml! Thankfully I had two of them and the out of hours nurse advised me to take 75 and 50 to make up 125. But now I have to call the clinic to get an additional pen for today. I hope there is a way I can get it without actually having to traipse all the way there.

Beaglemum91 · 19/01/2021 08:45

@edibletreats oh no! I imagine you will have to go. At transfer they asked if I had enough pessaries to go to my blood test. I had no idea so told the nurse I had 42 delivered so was 14 days enough in total and he said yes should be fine. Well my test is 15 days after ec not 14 so I'm 2 short! As its a while a away she said she Will post a prescription to me but if you need it tonight I imagine you'll need to go there.

How exciting, EC Thursday! Exactly a week behind me!

edibletreats · 19/01/2021 12:09

I called up the Harley St clinic and she said I don't need a Bemfola today as I am triggering. But I seem to remember you guys had Bemfola on the day of trigger too?

Luckfor2021 · 19/01/2021 12:59

@edibletreats I did have a bemfola on the day of my trigger. They gave me a paper the day of my last ultrasound scan that said I had to inject bemfola, cetrotide and ovitrelle on a Thursday, no injection on Friday and Saturday egg collection. It could be that you’ve had so many bemfolas already that it might not make a difference at this point? Did you speak to the nurse or the patient coordinator?

Beaglemum91 · 19/01/2021 13:26

@edibletreats I didnt have a bemfola the day of trigger, just cetrotide. So I have a random bemfola left in the fridge as they gave me extra in case. I think it depends on how they're developing as the trigger develops and matured them. It may be that you just don't need it like I didn't.

edibletreats · 19/01/2021 14:23

what would I do without this fount of knowledge?! thanks

guess I will just get on with triggering later then

StarryHannah · 19/01/2021 20:43

@edibletreats i agree with the font of knowledge ... I don't know where I'd be without you girls. Hope the trigger went well.

@beaglemum91 and @luckfor2021 how is the wait going?

I emailed the cervical screening people to ask if they could send me results as soon as they could and explained why. It came today all clear :) Got our bloods Thursday and our treatment consultation 2nd Feb so if everything goes to plan we will be starting ours next cycle mid feb :) xxx

StarryHannah · 19/01/2021 20:44

@HopingForRainbow2021 how are you? Haven't heard from you in a little while :) xx

Beaglemum91 · 19/01/2021 20:49

@StarryHannah thats great news! So glad its all sorted in time.
Its going fine really, but very early on still! I'm still waiting to hear if they can freeze any of our blasts. They said they have 2 developed and 1 a little behind so are leaving them till tomorrow to see if they will freeze any.

StarryHannah · 19/01/2021 20:52

@Beaglemum91 ah so that's something else you've prob got your mind too! I hope tomorrow brings you good news too xxx

HopingForRainbow2021 · 19/01/2021 21:10

It is so lovely being able to follow all of your journeys while waiting to begin. I am full of so much hope for you all!

@Beaglemum91 I am so glad all is going well for you so far, and will be really hoping for you that you are able to freeze some of your blasts.
@Luckfor2021 I hope the wait has been bearable so far. Keeping everything crossed for you both.

@StarryHannah I am really hopeful that we will be getting started at a similar time. I have a private cervical smear booked for tomorrow as NHS was just going to set me back so long. Results should be back in a few days, so as long as it's all okay and I can get treatment consultation booked in in time, then Feb could be the month. Can I ask about bloods? What is that for? That hasn't been mentioned to me yet :/

My concern atm is that smear may not be okay after high grade CIN 3 last year. Will be keeping fingers and toes crossed.

I did read the most recent trust pilot review for ABC earlier and it filled me with hope. - maybe worth a look :)

StarryHannah · 19/01/2021 21:21

@Luckfor2021 they're bloods for both myself and my husband to check for HIV, hepatitis etc. Clinic took deposit then booked us in for treatment consultation and bloods. Said after treatment consultation someone will phone to take remaining balance and then they'll organise sending out meds. The bloods are in the package price.

I have my fingers crossed your smear will be fine. I've had a few borderline over the years so was hoping this time wasn't going to be asking for further investigation etc. Turns out they only check cells now if you test positive for Humanpapilova virus (that spelling is wrong but you'll know what I mean Haha) ... I wasn't aware of that

Ooh I'm going straight to trust pilot for a nose :) xxx

Luckfor2021 · 19/01/2021 21:47

@Beaglemum91i hope you can get your blasts frozen!
@HopingForRainbow2021 and @StarryHannah it looks like you both will be starting at a similar time! Can’t wait to hear your stories soon. I actually got my bloods done the first day I had my ultrasound scan. They told me that to not make me go into London I could just do it after a scan. Which was super convenient.

I’m doing fine, a little bit nervous 😬 I just wish I could know the final result a bit earlier!

Beaglemum91 · 20/01/2021 16:07

So.. got my call from the clinic and none of the blasts are good enough to freeze :'( as if it wasn't bad enough on its own, they Lled me 10 minutes before I had an interview at work for a promotion... my head was so not in it.

I think I've come to terms with having to go through it all again for another chance but at the same time progesterone makes me super teary which doesn't help in times like these lol. I have a hot chocolate now to cheer me up and trying to stay positive for the good emby they did get transfered :)

edibletreats · 20/01/2021 16:34

oh @Beaglemum91 so sorry that it's really not what you wanted to hear. And what bad timing!!

This process is tough both physically and emotionally - quite often it seems like the odds are not stacked in your favour but trying to find some glimmers of positivism is definitely the right approach. That and chocolate of course :)

Beaglemum91 · 20/01/2021 16:39

It is @edibletreats! I think its so ironic that at a time when there is so much to deal with emotionally we get pumped full of hormone medication that makes it worse lol. I'm staying positive for now as the emby the transfered was progressing much quicker which was really good. Just not looking forward to telling DH when I get him from work as I know it will make me teary again! Sending positive vibes to everyone!

Luckfor2021 · 20/01/2021 17:21

@Beaglemum91 so sorry to hear that! This whole thing is pretty tough and we have to concentrate on the good things...you had a fresh embryo transfer and there is still hope. Some people don’t even get to that point and many succeed with only one! I completely agree with you that the progesterone does not help at all, I’m really sensitive now and I feel my boobs are going to explode at one point! I’ll join you and have a hot chocolate too! :)
