Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@Beaglemum91 that is all so helpful - thank you so much for explaining it all. I would definitely have had some anxieties if this had happened without any knowledge or understanding if what it all means - so really grateful for that. I knew of OHSS but had no idea what caused it or how it's measured. Very exciting that EC is Thursday! :)

edibletreats · 13/01/2021 14:05

@Beaglemum91
That's really good to know. How was the trigger injection? Hope tomorrow goes well!

@Luckfor2021 is your transfer confirmed for tomorrow?

I had my scan this morning and she did send me to also have bloods done. I have a lot of follicles but all still quite small so she has suggested increasing the bemfola from 125 to 150 to give them a bit of a boost. She did say there seemed to be a bit of fluid behind my left ovary as a result of it working overtime so need to keep an eye on that.

Back on Friday now for more bloods and hopefully(?) the final scan

Beaglemum91 · 13/01/2021 14:34

@edibletreats that sounds great! Glad it's going well. The trigger was fine, probably the best injection of them all (if there is such a thing) though it could also be because I know its the last one.

@Luckfor2021 my nurse said just to take me for EC but the info sheet says to take a dressing gown, did you take one and do you have any other tips?

Luckfor2021 · 13/01/2021 15:06

@edibletreats yes it’s confirmed! They will check the embryos tomorrow and call me only if there is a problem. If not I should just go at the time of the appointment. Let’s hope I don’t get any call and at least one of the blastocysts is nice and healthy! I wish I could go and have a look at them! Hahah

@Beaglemum91 I will be thinking about you tomorrow. I went to the Wimbledon clinic and brought my dressing gown and slippers as I read the same thing. In the end I didn’t need it. They gave me a dressing gown, a blanket for when I woke up from the anaesthesia, some thick socks, a fresh mask and a hair net. Once I woke up they offered me a hot drink and some biscuits and checked my blood pressure a few times before letting me go. They also asked me to go to the toilet to make sure I could urinate. I’m sure you’ll be well looked after. All the best for you!!! Xx

Luckfor2021 · 13/01/2021 15:40

@edibletreats hopefully your last scan on Friday and if that’s the case would egg collection be on Monday? Let us know how it goes!! I’ll be thinking about your follicles Wink

Luckfor2021 · 13/01/2021 15:43

@Beaglemum91 just one tip, make sure you don’t have anything planned after the egg collection. You’ll probably feel tired and maybe a bit crampy...so try to take it very easy when you get home and get a good rest!

Beaglemum91 · 13/01/2021 17:01

@Luckfor2021 thanks! I will take one in case I need it then as I'm at Manchester so not sure if it will be any different! Sounds like I'll be in safe hands anyway! I have nothing planned and I'm taking holiday from tomorrow till transfer so I can relax, rest and spend time with DH.

Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow!

edibletreats · 14/01/2021 09:56

@Luckfor2021 I hope it is Monday. I got a call from the clinic yesterday evening saying the estrogen levels in my blood was quite high - 1000. So recommended that I not increase the bemfola. Hopefully they will have grown enough by tomorrow to move forward.

Thinking of you and @Beaglemum91 today. Hope both procedures go well!

Beaglemum91 · 14/01/2021 16:32

EC went well, they got 8! Considering when I turned up the Dr said from my blood levels they expected to get 5 I'm pretty happy and they said its a good number to work with. They're going to call tomorrow with a fertilisation update. It wasn't too bad but I'm quite uncomfortable and tired now. There was a medication they normally give that I can't have which may be why I'm a bit more uncomfortable but should be fine in a couple of days. I dont remember a thing, but sedation really affects me so I disnt expect to!

@Luckfor2021 I hope your transfer went well today!

Luckfor2021 · 14/01/2021 18:32

@Beaglemum91 congrats!! 8 is a great number! Have a good rest the next couple of days! I hope fertilisation goes well too!

The transfer was super quick today...they transferred a pretty good grade blastocyst and froze an average-poor one. The other two will be left until tomorrow as they were a bit behind.
@edibletreats how were your follicles today?

Beaglemum91 · 14/01/2021 19:11

@Luckfor2021 so glad it went well and you had a good blast! When is your test day?

Luckfor2021 · 14/01/2021 19:38

My test day should be the 25th!! It seems so far away!!!

Beaglemum91 · 15/01/2021 08:58

The embryologist called first thing this morning and said 7 of my 8 eggs were good enough for ICSI and that of those 4 have fertilised. I feel a little disappointed but given we have severe MFI, I'm telling myself that's a good number. I think some of the disappointment comes from the fact that they said they would plan a day 3 transfer at the moment (booked for sunday) but change it that morning if there was a good one developing. It kind of made me feel the didnt have too much faith :( still feeling uncomfortable today so going to rest as much as possible to be good for Sunday and try and stay positive they they develop well in the next few days!

StarryHannah · 15/01/2021 09:27

@Beaglemum91 please don't be disheartened! Remember my best friend who I mentioned who had a recent ivf? She will be 12 weeks pregnant on Sunday. They extracted three eggs, only one fertilised and they put it in on day 3. She was distraught ... and look at her now :) I know this prob won't make any difference to how you're feeling at the moment but I just wanted to share her success story with you hoping it may give you just a tiny bit of hope (I chatted in some other threads on here and had some very negative people really upset me so I'm hoping my positivity will cheer you up a little). I'm glad the little group we chat with are all so positive and boost each other :)

Xxx

Beaglemum91 · 15/01/2021 09:35

@StarryHannah thank you, it does help
I think it was just the shock off the call at 8am this morning telling me all this (woke me up!). I know it can only take one and we're lucky we have 4 on the go, I think it's just not really knowing what to expect first time round. Plus, progesterone makes me very teary and I can feel it kicking in already as I'm quite sensitive to it lol!

StarryHannah · 15/01/2021 09:39

I think how you're feeling is perfectly understandable

edibletreats · 15/01/2021 13:28

@Luckfor2021 good to hear transfer was quick and easy. How are you feeling today? Not sure if I have any advice of how to get through the next 10 days!

@Beaglemum91 that is still a good number. Hope they all develop well. On the Progesterone, and some TMI to take your mind off things - were you given pessaries? Did they give you any indication to insert front or back??

@StarryHannah Any news on your smear?

My follicles are looking ok today, had a scan and bloods this morning. I have started cetrotide today and have to go back for yet another scan on Monday..! EC is likely to be Wednesday.

Beaglemum91 · 15/01/2021 13:40

@edibletreats that sounds great! Glad it's all progressing well. I have got the pessaries and they came with applicators. They said to do them vaginally. The first was a bit uncomfortable as its the night of EC but fine since. I heard some people have issues with them but I've been fine. I'm not sure if they recommend putting them in the back, but as forewarning they give you some there after EC (while sedated so you won't know) and I found that more uncomfortable so I'm fine doing them how I am right now!

Luckfor2021 · 15/01/2021 15:20

@Beaglemum91sorry it wasn’t what you expected. I really understand your frustration but I only had 4 embryos and was able to get a fresh transfer which is the most important thing! What matters is how they progress and you still have a good chance. I wouldn’t tell you to not think about it, because I’m all day thinking about it too. But definitely keeping yourself busy with other things can help. I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow. @edibletreats that sounds good! Let’s us know how the next scan goes.
I’m feeling perfectly fine, went back to work today which helps my brain disconnect a bit from everything. My two other blastocysts were looked at today and were not good enough for freezing unfortunately :(

Have a good weekend everyone!

StarryHannah · 15/01/2021 16:57

@edibletreats no news on the smear just yet. I'm thinking end of next week/beginning of the week after and it should be here. My friends took 10 working days to arrive in October, and I know I shouldn't compare but im hoping it'll be the same for me. We have paid the deposit and our bloods booked in for Thursday morning 😊

I can't believe how quick everything is progressing for you all! xxx

Luckfor2021 · 16/01/2021 11:24

@Beaglemum91 how are you feeling today? I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow!!

Beaglemum91 · 17/01/2021 16:49

@Luckfor2021 I felt better yesterday, I think it was just the shock of it all before and being told when I was half asleep and worrying! How are you getting on, any side affects from the pessaries yet?

I had my transfer today. I'd say it wasn't too bad, but the embryo didn't come out first time so I had to have the procedure again! It hurt a little the second time, but I think that's just cause it had already been irritated once before as I didnt feel it the first time. But, its all done now! It was a grade 2, 8 cell embryo so pretty good and it was already starting to cluster so was progressing quickly and was a great time to get it in there. I got home and had a big nap! I think the progesterone is hitting me now! Its not a waiting game, blood test is 29th Jan!

Luckfor2021 · 17/01/2021 17:28

@Beaglemum91 I’m glad you’re feeling better! I completely understand the shock of receiving news when you’re not prepared. Great that your transfer is all done!!! Grade 2 is really good! I’ve been thinking about you today :)
Did you have any more embryos to leave developing until they can freeze on day 5?

Now we’re on this long wait together!
I think the pessaries are making me really sleepy...I also feel breast tenderness and a bit of lower back pain in the evenings, but that’s about it.

Beaglemum91 · 17/01/2021 17:46

@Luckfor2021 we have 3 still developing, another grade 2, 8 cell and 2 grade 3s. They will call on Tuesday with an update.
They've been making me sleepy and very sore breats and sensitive nipples! The soreness started just before the trigger and they've just got more and more sensitive since then.

What did they decide to do with your other two blasts?

Luckfor2021 · 17/01/2021 17:55

@Beaglemum91i started feeling it after egg collection. In my case I had one blastocyst frozen and the other 2 were discarded as they weren’t good enough for freezing...
