Hi peeps :)

I’ll hyperlink this to our old thread so we can continue bitching about crystal82 😂

I can’t believe we’ve almost got to 1000 posts. I didn’t even know that was a thing - thank you @kittykatsmile because I had no idea it would just max out and I can NOT go on without you all. That’s not even an option.

Happy Friday everyone :).

@KittyKatSmile, @Zest11 I think it’s the hay fever making me utterly miserable at the moment. BUT I’ve just been having an intense look online and apparently Prevalin nasal spray is medically allowed for pregnant women so I’ll be going out to purchase that today.

My otd is Thursday!! Blood test at the clinic and then a phone call. @zest11 I won’t be testing beforehand, purely because I’m superstitious and weird - I’ve never seen a second line so I’m hoping a blood test will change my luck 🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞 silly the things we do to make ourselves feel more secure and safe.

@KittyKatSmile do you have a scan coming up soon in a couple of weeks?

Morning all :)

My EC was 2 days ago, and I'm in agony today. Everything feels swollen and sore and it's painful to even sit down. Is this normal? I'm at work, and getting in and out of my chair is quite an effort (especially as I'm trying to be subtle about it!). They didn't even get that many eggs, so it can't be OHSS!

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 09:27

@Cauliflower82 yes scan a week next Thursday (I mean, 2 weeks away really). I'm trying to put it out of my mind because that's when I found out I'd lost my last baby, when they didn't see a heartbeat. I actually wonder whether I've got a touch of PTSD about it all because I feel sick if I think about it. I suppose that's normal.

My mum is really excited but trying not to go crazy, bless her. This is the first time I've told her before actually losing the baby(ies).

Sorry to bring it down a bit. I hate that my joy gets so tainted with fear like this...

Cauliflower82 · 05/07/2019 09:42

@KittyKatSmile I’m so sorry. In all honesty, I think it’s only natural to worry and for it to be a cause of stress. Just like Gabby and Emma always say, the effects of infertility do not end with a positive test, you just move on to a different type of anxiety. I’m praying for you that this time things will be different and the scan will only bring you joy and reassurance.

@aliciawhiskers I’m sorry for being so blunt but have you had a no. 2 since egg collection? I feel your pain, that was me almost a week ago now. Everything was agony. I got signed off in the end. Should you be at work?

@AliciaWhiskers I wasn't given a course of antibiotics by my clinic, but after they put the canula in at EC they did inject antibiotics into it before I went in and got the sedation drugs. They said it is to minimise the risk of infection from the needle, so is not uncommon.

I was in pain and uncomfortable after EC, but not in agony. Make sure you drink a lot of fluid, take some paracetemol or a hot water bottle and keep an eye on how you are feeling. Speak to the clinic.

@KittyKatSmile Damn it - I didn't realise normal smoked salmon was on the 'avoid' list. Why do I have to avoid all the good foods?!

@Cauliflower82 I was eating smoked salmon on the tww as I hadn't realised either. I think it is going to be a bit like that.

@Ginandtonic31 Congratulations on the BFP! That is great news. Also, I am going to miss pate too.

@BellaD85 I'm so sorry for your loss. That is so terrible after the hope. I hope you are doing okay.

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 09:44

@AliciaWhiskers sorry, our messages crossed. If you need some help in that department, I can recommend syrup of figs. It's pretty gentle and tastes really nice. Available from Superdrug.

@Zest11 I'm off to weights class now. Will try not to be 'excessive' Grin

Ginandtonic31 · 05/07/2019 09:44

@KittyKatSmile I feel so awful with a sore throat today. Eugh! I've just been for my bloods. Got to call at 1.30 for the result. Now off to work and all I want is a day on the sofa.

So I should be taking my pessaries 12 hours apart. Probably screwed it ip now! So shall I just start it 12 hours now or do I need to bring to back slowly. Like I've been doing say 8 and 10.30, can I just start doing 8 and 8?

@AliciaWhiskers are you constipated? That's what hurt me most.

CornishMaid1 · 05/07/2019 09:51

Hi everyone! I've just caught up - although I have been popping on for a look all week I have been staying quiet as I didn't want to jinx it.

Well, today is OTD for me and I have a BFP!! The first time since we started ttc 5.5 years ago! I am not sure it has actually properly sunk it.

To be completely honest, I did actually start testing on Sunday at 8dp5dt and got a faint positive then. I have then tested every day since (I started to worry the line would go). It is still not a really dark line, but it is getting a bit darker as the week has gone on and is still there so she sticking around.

For anyone worried they are not getting symptoms, I have not had that many. Other than one day when one boob hurt (in the 'oh that hurt' stabbing pain style) they are not involved in this yet.

The first real 'symptoms' I had were last Friday/Saturday (6dp and 7dp5dt) when I was feeling a bit full and crampy and a little sick in the morning. I was also really tired, but from the crampy fullness really thought I was out, so tested on the Sunday to see and low and behold.

Since then I have had a few signs, but not much. They are mostly that now my abdomen feels full and I get the odd cramp or stabbing pain, but that is it.

My clinic are not going to do bloods, so I now have to wait just over 2 weeks for my early scan to see if everything is okay. Part of me feels as though this is not real so I do not want to get my hopes up too much until the scan, so I think this 2ww will be worse than the last 2!

AliciaWhiskers · 05/07/2019 09:57

Oooooh @Cornishmaid1 huge congratulations! So excited for you!

Cauliflower82 · 05/07/2019 10:17

@CornishMaid1 yay, congratulations sweetie, that’s amazing news xx

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 11:08

@CornishMaid1 I thought this might be the case from your pate comment earlier but I didn't want to ask! Yay! Big congratulations!

Cauliflower82 · 05/07/2019 11:19

@Ginandtonic31 oh no! I’ve just seen that I have the double chin thing going on now too! It’s horrendous. So, to sum it up:
Oily hair that really needs to be washed once a day now
Acne ALL over including whiteheads, eww eww
Still bloated
A double chin

The horror 😂 😂

Mrbay · 05/07/2019 11:29

Congratulations @ginandtonic31 and @cornishmaid1 - I knew it!!

@KittyKatSmile - so sorry to hear that, I think that the really cruel part of IVF, you can never quite relax until the 7-week scan.

@califlower82 - I'm also in the double chin club, with a dusting of spots!

My scan wasn't exactly textbook this morning, I've got 3 potentials, stupid endo. Thankfully this is cycle 1 of 3 so I'm feeling pretty relaxed, but I wonder if they will cancel this cycle prior to EC and re-start again?

mouse1234567 · 05/07/2019 12:13

@CornishMaid1 many congrats! X

AliciaWhiskers · 05/07/2019 12:23

@KittyKatSmile it's normal to worry, especially when you have had a loss before. I completely agree with Cauliflower82 who said that the anxiety just changes as you go through - maybe it's just preparation for when you actually have that baby in your arms, because the anxiety carries on then as well! I'm sure our parents would still admit to worrying about us, and we are all grown women! I don't think I need the syrup of figs, but my whole pelvis is really sore, including pains up my bum, so I might try it incase it helps!

@Ginandtonic31 sorry you are feeling so crap today. Can you rest up over the weekend? Try not to worry too much about your pessaries - you've got your BFP so you can't have messed up too much! I would just switch to 8 and 8 - so if you've done your first one this morning at 8, do your evening one today at 8pm

@Mrbay sorry to hear the scan this morning wasn't as you had hoped. Do they think some might catch up? I didn't have many on my first scan either, but some others caught up in the end. Are you eating loads of protein? Mine seemed to exponentially grow when I upped my protein. Did you ask the clinic if they will cancel, or are they rescanning you?

Have taken some paracetamol and feel a bit better.

Mrbay · 05/07/2019 12:43

@AliciaWhiskers - I think the others were like around half the size that they needed to be.
How much protein should I be having daily?
I'm being rescanned on Monday and then they will decided what to do next. I'm currently feeling neutral about the whole thing, what will be, will be :)
Glad you are feeling a bit better

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 12:53

@Mrbay apparently 70-80g a day which is a cubic shit tonne when you think that a chicken breast has 25g. So make up the rest with protein powder, you can get 30g a day from that.

AliciaWhiskers · 05/07/2019 13:08

Arla protein yoghurts have 20g each pot. I've mostly been eating eggs, cheese, yoghurt, higher protein bread. A pot of porridge from Starbucks is 13g which I thought was quite good!

Zest11 · 05/07/2019 13:24

@CornishMaid1 Congratulations, that's brilliant news! :)

@Cauliflower82 I hope you're feeling better now you've got some drugs.

@KittyKatSmile that's so good that you get to go whilst at work! I get the anxiety over mc. But you are doing everything right! I hope the weights weren't too excessive...although to be fair at my classes I love to have a good look around and see how I compare to everyone else...and feel smug when mine are heavier!

Sorry for being quiet on here. I'm feeling a bit down still. As I had a cp once and retrospectively the signs for me were pretty obvious...spots on my face, mega hungry and ewcm. So far there's nothing.

Ginandtonic31 · 05/07/2019 14:26

@Zest11 well I've had no symptoms at all and this morning had my blood test. They said as long as over 75 it's good. They have me a graph and said anything over 150 has a 90% change of progressing. Just rang for my results. 205! I'm actually shitting it now. They have advised I go and see their counsellor.

@AliciaWhiskers I will start tonight doing it 12 hours apart.

@Mrbay don't worry they can catch up! Some can appear by your next scan.

Cauliflower82 · 05/07/2019 14:40

@Ginandtonic31 205!!!! Aww I’m so happy for you. That’s amazing news. You’re doing so well.

@Zest11 I wanted to send a virtual hug 🤗. I have no symptoms either. I always have teenage skin, it’s just a bit worse 😂. But I think that’s the extra progesterone. My dad seems so sure that everything is going to work out 🙏 🙏

Welshpugmomma · 05/07/2019 15:31

Congrats @cornishmaid1 great news :)

I keep feeling like this perhaps isn't my cycle :( I've been getting period pains the last couple of days my cycle is 31 normally and today is day 29. I feel like my body is gearing up for it and I've done so much googling it's tragic ! My OTD isn't until the 11th either, feels like the longest 2and half weeks ever... Anyone know what's the earliest I could test on having had a day 2 transfer?

Zest11 · 05/07/2019 15:41

@Ginandtonic31 that's fantastic! Of course you're bricking it...that's normal!! May I ask why they have suggested you seel the counsellor? Is it because of the reasons your seeing your other therapist?

@Cauliflower82 thank you! I should stop trying to second guess. My husband sounds like your dad and his positivity. He keeps saying it's still there and my head is just messing with me. He did also say to not worry as "we can just put another one in." I guess I wouldn't have to worry about having 5 kids!! Grin and we are extremely lucky that we have some frozen.

@Welshpugmomma Dr Google is terribly unhelpful and pessimistic. I am not sure on the earliest you can test but it does seem like you are waiting a long time!! How long ago did they put the embryo in you? Maybe do a test within the next couple of days just to make sure the hcg from the trigger is out of your system and then another a couple of days after that?

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 15:42

@Ginandtonic31 that is brilliant! Did they say you have to repeat your bloods after 48 hours? I had to and they requested the wrong bloody tests! Another 24 hours of panic! What is bloody wrong with me?!

@Zest11 keeping everything crossed for you and sending lots of love.

My best friend is just starting ICSI (is she in here?! My god. I may never know!) and I'm feeling super helpful that I can share the experiences of 15 or so people!! Although I think she's pretty sick already of me saying 'oh, on my mumsnet thing.....'

KittyKatSmile · 05/07/2019 15:48

@Welshpugmomma how many days post transfer are you? I would just really counsel against testing too early if there's any way you can as I think the potential stress outweighs any relief you might think you will feel. That's just my opinion. It does seem they keep us waiting ages though. When I was previously trying I had to test at 9dpo as there were drugs I needed as soon as I found out I was pregnant and I have seen a line a few times then so to wait until effectively 16dpo seems like overkill. I did it on 15dpo. Seems like 14 is a good time.
