Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@Lillyleaf, Yes of course u r...sorry. My brain seems mashed of late! Thank you the reassurance, I am definitely hoping to be heavily sedated. Had a hycosy and found that uncomfortable so would rather know nothing about the EC if poss.

@Babymamawanna, I am using access fertility as mentioned by @Lillyleaf. I have effectively paid for 5 rounds because if my 1st 3 don't work, I get 70% refunded, which will pay for another 2 if we decide to continue.

Just heard from the clinic about taking an additional BCP. They have said not to worry and they will c me for my baseline scan on Thursday. Fingers crossed it all goes ok. No AF as yet. Hoping it comes today.

@babymamawanna so sorry to hear that, you got so far, hopefully the clinic can give you more info on what happened and you and the clinic can make any changes if you decide to go for another round xx

Just had my scan, 25 follicles! A few massive ones too, I'm borderline for over stimulating. Egg collection on Wednesday just waiting for a phone call to tell me what time

First scan today (3rd cycle). Gutted to have 9 follicles 10mm or above which is about half than last time. However last time we only ended up with 6 eggs (cycle before that we had a similar number of follies to this time but got 10 eggs).

Bloody fed up of IVF 😒

@daisymay25 i think im dreading the 2ww the most, imagine if you got a bfp on your birthday that would be amazing!!

Yes, this is my 1st cycle @Microvic. I should have had egg collection in Feb but got delayed as my down regulation didn't work so hoping my scan goes ok Thursday as that's the point I got to last time. 🤞

@FingersXssd83. Hopefully u will get a similar EC to your 1st cycle. x

@Todey84 I'm doing the 3 rounds with a 50% refund (we were offered the 70% also), so glad we did it. My first ever IVF attempt was cancelled at baseline, I never knew that could even happen, I was gutted having to wait another month, so I know how you feel, I'm sure it will be fine this time, good luck.

@DaisyMay25 wow that's a lot of follicles, you must really be feeling them, I did with only 10-12! How many days past transfer can you test? Mine was 9d5dt, a lot of people on my first thread were waiting 14 days! 9 was enough.

@FingersXssd83 I know everyone says it's a numbers game but it really is about quality which I'm sure you know. I was gutted I got 8 eggs in my first round but actually got x5 5day blasts (1 transferred, BFP, miscarried, 4 in the freezer). Do they all seem to be a similar size? Fingers crossed for you.

@LillyLeaf I'm currently sofa bound, I'm just so uncomfortable. It's 15 days past collection I go to the clinic for a blood test so 10d5dt I think . DH really doesn't want me to test early either so I'll try my next to resist!

@Deeny83 it would the best but I can't help but think how miserable my birthday will be if it's not positive

Do you know how many days of abstinence is recommended before EC for men with very low count and not great dna fragmentation? I read 2-5 days for normal sperm count and 1 -2 days for high dna fragmentation. Waiting for my clinic to reply...

@LillyLeaf Totally agree...Really glad we did the refund scheme for peace of mind. I never knew that the baseline scan could be like that either. I took my sister with me thinking if was just routine! My husband is coming with me this time, although I am hoping it will be ok.

Had my first acupuncture session of this cycle this morning, it made me realise how anxious I am about this time. I think I need to get back on the mindfulness as I was so chilled in my first cycle (probably because I thought it wouldn't work and was a practice), I can't feel this for a month.

Hi all, can I join please. I'm a newbie to IVF and so far have only had a mini consultation (and quite a few phone calls to our chosen clinic!). We have our IVF consultation on Monday (15 April) and are hoping to start the treatment as soon as AF appears after that which should be towards the end of the month. Initial discussion with the clinic suggest this should be possible. We've been trying for number 2 for a year and a half now, which incidentally is how long it took for number one, with a miscarriage 6 months previous. I have endo and PCOS. I had a laparoscopy in Jan to remove bi-lateral endometriomas and lesions in my tubes and have been on Clomid for the last two cycles but no luck so far, although an initial faint line on a hpt at the end of the last cycle would suggest I had a chemical pregnancy. I turn 36 in June so we've decided now is the right time for us to try IVF. I'm a little apprehensive about increasing costs and the frequent scans and treatment disrupting work and life generally but this is our last option really so planning to give it all I've got.

Hi all, hoping you wont mind me joining too. Its also my first round of IVF after 2 ectopic pregnancies and losing both tubes. I am currently on day 16 ( i think) of Buserelin injections and have my first scan booked for Tuesday. I think it has just hit me how huge this is. We have been trying for 7 years and are self funding as we have a 10 year old little boy.

I had my egg retrieval today and they managed to get 15 eggs, im so surprised by that based on my earlier scans, heres hoping the quality is good, i should know tomorrow, this is the bit I'm most nervous about

Best of luck @Tipi10 and @Marmite83 it's daunting but at least now you're in the process and can move your journeys on to the next (hopefully BFP!) stage...

I love the mindfulness app @LillyLeaf Tried acupuncture on my last cycle but it did nothing to relax me! Tried face reflexology and Indian head massage this time and it's absolutely amazing. I've never felt so relaxed! Oh and my follicles were generally clustered but will have a clearer picture at my second scan tomorrow :-)

Best of luck for your collection tomorrow @DaisyMay25, bet you can't wait to get all those eggies out now!!

@FingersXssd83 I'm more than ready to part with them! I'll be interested to see how many eggs they get. The follicle scans are just amazing aren't they? I enjoyed seeing mine yesterday, they were so many and so big they was squashing each other!

Yeah @DaisyMay25, the science behind it is fascinating. Think I'd like to be an embryologist in another life!

I was really excited our last cycle scan we had 18 follicles but then they only got 6 eggs, and what with our first scan this cycle only showing 9 follows, I don't think I'm capable of getting excited. Who know's if that will change soon though, it's such a bloody rollercoaster 🤞🏻

It's a nice feeling to think you're cooking up lots of eggs and (potential babies!). I felt very protective of them during my first cycle and was willing them on every stage.

@Daisymay25 the EC was fine, nothing to be nervous about at all!! I was asleep for the whole thing, i just woke up and was back in the room i started in with my husband (and they gave me chocolate so i was happy 🤣).I had a cyst which they ended up draining too, wasnt sure if they were going to that, glad they did it then so i knew nothing about it 😁 i came home and slept for about 4 hours, still feeling a bit wrecked but starting to come around.

@Deeny83 great news about EC and fingers crossed for good news tomorrow. My clinic gave me chocolate after my first EC, such a good idea.

I think I've started getting side effects from the Buserelin, last night I couldn't sleep and was emotional, hopefully it will pass as I get used to it.
