IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

Welcome everyone. It's been a hard day today. Trying not to think about mother's Day and that I should be 18wks pregnant. Trying to focus on the FET. 4 days until I start injections (I'm actually looking forward to them, I got pretty good at doing them last time) and I'll start acupuncture again soon which is nice.

Todey84 · 31/03/2019 20:16

Know how u feel, although I haven't been through a full IVF cycle yet, if my ectopic pregnancy had worked out I would have been celebrating today with my baby. Just got to think positively and that hopefully things will turn out for the best and with the ride making it known how precious it will be when it hopefully happens. I am 35 now and had never tried until last year with my family and friends always telling my husband and I that we should be starting, but I was never ready. Now I cannot wait, funny how things change.

I am really excited that I have started the injections again, the worst thing has been the waiting I am such a control freak, so am really trying to chill!

orangefolly · 01/04/2019 09:36

Hi everyone. Yesterday was tough, wasn't it? I was also thinking about the baby I should have in my arms by now, and the pregnancy I should still have.

I'm looking forward to starting the cycle though - think AF should be arriving around the 15th, so then I can start on the Gonal F injections.

Wishing everyone luck!

Yesterday was awful. I was either manic, being horrid to my suffering DH or crying :/

AF arrived this morning so start injections tomorrow. First scan is booked a week today.

Because we're switching from Menopur to Gonal F I'm starting to panic that I might not respond as well on the new stuff. I know it's just general anxiety about the cycle (it's our third) and if it wasn't that it'd be something else.

Hope everyone's having a positive day xxx

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 13:31

@FingersXssd83 good luck for the scan tomorrow!

Ivf is such a ridiculously stressful business isn’t it. (And all those helpful people who just say relax!!)
If we don't worry about one thing then it’s another - always something!

So sorry you had such a rough day yesterday, it’s emotional a process enough already without having Mother’s Day around as well.

orangefolly · 02/04/2019 11:54

It's great that some have started injections already - it's making mine seem closer. How is everyone feeling? Any side effects yet?

I'm a complete mess today - had to have our beautiful little cat put to sleep yesterday. She had a brain tumour and started having very bad fits. I miss her so much. She was such a support through all this fertility crap and a constant comfort. She sat with me through both my miscarriages like a guardian angel Sad

LillyLeaf · 02/04/2019 12:45

@orangefolly I'm so sorry about your cat. I have a cat and she is like my child, I would be heartbroken if anything happened to her. Look after yourself.

2 days until I stab myself with a needle, very exciting. Has anyone just been on Buserelin? I took it last time but was also stimming at the same time so not sure how it feels by itself.

FlipKat · 02/04/2019 12:58

Hi all,
I'm also due to start my first cycle of IVF in about 2 weeks....still have my fingers crossed that AF won't arrive so won't have to go through with it but after 2.5yrs of trying naturally with never a whiff of a BFP I suspect it will be bang on time! I'm currently running around getting quotes from various pharmacies for the meds - some really big price differences! We will be doing mild IVF as I'm high risk for OHSS. Good luck to everyone!

FlipKat · 02/04/2019 13:00

@orangefolly so sorry about your cat xx

Todey84 · 02/04/2019 13:50

So sorry to hear about your cat. I have 2 and they really are a massive comfort.

No side effects for me but I have only just started taking buserelin since Sat. Am getting over a stinking cold, so glad that I didn't start the week before as I felt rotten.

I got all my medication from Asda. Didn't reply shop around but so much cheaper than the clinic.

Brambles7 · 02/04/2019 14:04

@orangefolly so sorry to hear about your cat. They aren’t pets, they’re special friends that can’t be replaced.

@Lillyleaf I was just on buserelin to start with and didn’t really feel any different. In fact I felt pretty great. A touch of a headache here & there but nothing that didn’t disappear with plenty of water.

@FlipKat good luck with your first cycle. Ironically my last cycle chose to be 3-4 days late arriving so we got all excited only to be dashed down again.

@Todey84 sorry you have a cold & feel rotten. Hope you’re looking after yourself. At least it’s now & not later on in your cycle.

2019isouryear · 02/04/2019 16:49

@orangefolly sorry to hear about your cat.

Sorry if this is a silly question but when you have got quotes for meds is that because you are self funded. Not been through a cycle before so my next step is to ring clinic when AF arrives. As we’re NHS assuming meds will all be sorted. Just checking there is nothing that I’ve missed.

DaisyMay25 · 02/04/2019 17:33

@orangefolly I'm so sorry about your cat.
As for injections and side effects, on down reg I was hormonal and got hot flushes which is normal. I'm on day five of stims and a bit of nausea today as well as cramps. Got a scan tomorrow to see what's going on

2019isouryear · 02/04/2019 18:24

Good luck with your scan @DaisyMay25

FingersXssd83 · 02/04/2019 19:42

Aww poor thing, so sorry to hear about your fur baby @orangefolly. I love my dogs like family so I can imagine it's been hard although it sounds like your kitty had a fantastic life and was very lucky to find you 💕

Just had my first Gonal F. Was a lot easier to get in than Menopur, hopefully it'll produce the results we need 🤞🏻 x x

DaisyMay25 · 02/04/2019 20:02

@FingersXssd83 are you keeping your gonal f in the fridge? I've found it makes a huge difference, I don't feel the liquid going on at all!

FingersXssd83 · 02/04/2019 22:31

@DaisyMay25 I'm taking it out of the fridge half an hour before I inject. I think I did a better pinch, grabbed much less skin and it went straight in. Was so pleased! I'm on my third cycle so maybe I'm just getting the hang of it now?!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow x x

FlipKat · 03/04/2019 09:45

@2019isouryear sorry yes we are self funding! Difference between pharmacy quotes is as much as a couple of hundred pounds! I'm sure NHS sorts all the meds out for you

TwistofFate · 03/04/2019 10:04

@orangefolly So sorry for your loss and such an awful decision to make. Pets can be such a comfort during difficult times.

AF arrived today but I'm waiting for a date for a mid cycle catheter test because the hycosy was tricky before we can start IVF.

DaisyMay25 · 03/04/2019 10:10

Scan went well today, about 12 follicles on each size, 7 on each side looking like they'll mature. Back in Friday for another scan with possible collection on Monday!!

Lucindaa · 03/04/2019 10:11

I'm on day 27 on Buserelin and day 12 of Fostimon. Hoping for egg collection after this Fridays scan either on Saturday or Monday!

Super bloated and extremely tired!

Lu x

DaisyMay25 · 03/04/2019 10:15

@Lucindaa looks like we're around the same stage round now! The bloating is awful isn't it? She's just told me it'll get worse too

Todey84 · 03/04/2019 11:55

Yes, I am self funding too. Saved about £500 with asda compared to clinic prices!

Glad the scan went well @DaisyMay25

Exciting that egg collection is so soon.

Lucindaa · 03/04/2019 12:26

@DaisyMay25 the bloating is incredible!

My last scan yesterday said I had no folicles on Right side ready and only 1 ready on the Left.

Have another scan tomorrow

Lu x

Brambles7 · 03/04/2019 16:37

@DaisyMay25 glad your scan went well! Exciting that egg collection will be soon.

@Lucindaa the bloating doesn’t get much better I’m afraid - I still am! Good luck with your scan tomorrow.
