IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

@Lucindaa @ DaisyMay25 I do remember the bloating, I remember running for a bus and feeling my ovaries moving around! So exciting your EC will be soon.

I'll be starting my Buserelin shots tonight. I think I ovulated later this cycle so I guess AF will be later which is annoying as I'm trying to work the FET around a work trip.

@LillyLeaf I do not enjoy buserelin. It made me so hormonal haha I'm still on it but a lower dose so not as bad now.

I'm hoping EC is Monday, I'm just so uncomfortable now. They said I might be borderline for overstimulation.

@DaisyMay25 I do remember feeling emotional last time pre EC so I do wonder if that was the Buserelin. Have you told the clinic how uncomfortable you are? I don't think you should be that uncomfortable, just a bit bloated and 'full'.

@LillyLeaf I mentioned it yesterday but I have IBS so she said it'll be flaring that up. I've got a scan tomorrow so I'll mention it again to them.
I'm not sure how FET works, any idea when you ET will be?

@DaisyMay25 FET is mostly about getting the lining right. I'll start Buserelin today which is cd21, continue until AF, then a lower dose while using Oestrogen patches. I'll stop Buserelin about day 14 then start progesterone, my embryo is 5 days so they will transfer roughly cd 21 all depending on when my lining to right. They've put me on double progesterone this time so the pessaries and lubion injections ( I think due to the miscarriage), it all still feels ages away, so probably early May for transfer. So much waiting.

Hello all, i don't think ive posted before, im currently going through my first round of ivf...well we'll be doing icsi as we're using a frozen sample. I'm day 8 of stims, on gonal f in the evening and cetrotide in the morning, the morning one is a bit of a pain. Had my first scan yesterday and ive 8 good follicles, and a few smaller ones, im hoping the smaller ones catch up a bit, another scan tomorrow so ill just have to wait and see.

@Deeny83 we're at about the same stage. I'm Day 7 of stims, also doing ICSI and got my second scan tomorrow. Have they said when your collection might be? This is my first round too

@daisymay25 not yet, im hoping they can tell me tomorrow so i can book it off with work and then have an idea when my transfer will be, i want to take a day or two off after it. Have they given you an idea when yours will be?

@Deeny83 @DaisyMay25 hi, I'm day 9 of injections, I actually miscalculated it and though I was say 8... my egg collection is planned for Monday but I guess I'll know for sure on Saturday when I'll have my second scan. I'm self funded and doing this round in Czech, will have lots of time off after as booked 2 weeks off in advance. Hope you guys are doing well!

Today is day 30 on Buserelin on first IVF cycle!

I was due to have egg retrieval on Saturday but they are not happy with my follicles.

I'm on day 12 of Stims (Fostimon) 3x dosage per day.

Right Ovary 3 follicles less than 10mm
Left Ovary 2 follicles less than 10mm

These are my measurements!

19x12
20x15

My fertility clinic suggests I need to wait longer with possible Egg collection on Tuesday! Does anyone have any experience with the size of my follicles.

Its great the clinic does scans etc on the weekend, mine is closed on the weekend so I've no idea how a 5 day transfer works, if i do egg collection on monday or tuesday, 5 days would be sat / sun, i must ask them tomorrow.

@Lucindaa in my first round my follicles were a bit slow and I was given a hormone inject (sorry I can't remember the name) this really helped, I had 1 every other day, 3 in total. I got 8 mature eggs, 6 fertilised then 5 day 5 embryos, so it did work. Sometimes they just take a bit longer.

Hi everyone, I have just joined so can I join this thread. Feeling emotional this week. I have booked in to start our first IVF cycle at the beginning of may. I have to see our nurse on the 17th to collect all my medication. Feeling very nervous, worried about the injections and also how we will cope if it doesn't work.

@Emotionaltimes exciting! Injections are fine, I don't find them painful and don't have any side effects. Stay positive and think about the final result that will come one way or another! You are on the way to it! Good luck!

Thanks, we did go to start in Jan 18 but my consultant felt I should have a couple of my ovarian cysts removed to improve our chances. That all went well and we have finally built up the courage to go back.

@Emotionaltimes welcome. It's really not that bad, injections are fine and you actually feel like you're doing something to improve your chances. Good luck.

I did my first Buserelin injection tonight, I forgot how itching my skin is after it for a little while.

Good luck and welcome @Emotionaltimes. Injections have been fine so far. I am on my 1st cycle, so am also new to it all too. Emotional, but exciting times. 😊

We will prob be on a similar cycle @Lillyleaf. All going well, my egg collection is provisionally booked in for 24th April.🤞

@enotionaltimes you get used to the injections really quickly, after you've done the first one you'll be a pro :-)

I had my 2nd scan today, i have 2 follicles at 17mm, and the rest are 13 / 14, not sure how many i have now. Waiting to hear back from clinic, longest morning ever!!

@Deeny83 that's some good measurements! They give you an indication of when EC might be?

My scan went fine, they're all growing in size nicely, back on Monday for another scan and hopefully EC on Wednesday, a little disheartened it's not Monday but on the brighter side it's looking a lot less like I could over stimulate

@Emotionaltimes like @Deeny83 said, you'll get used to the injections. I ice the area for a few minutes before hand which helps me.

@daisymay i still have no idea when EC will be, im hoping when they update me later I'll know, but i think ill be the same as you, another scan on monday and EC on Wednesday. Great to hear you're moving along nicely!!

Hi, does anyone mind if I join even though we're doing iui? I could really do with somewhere to talk about it!
It's our 6th (2 cycles abandoned) and final iui before we try our only nhs ivf cycle. We were lucky to get a BFF before Christmas but mc in Jan. I'm still gutted. AF arrived today so start norethisterone on day 21.

Clinic just confirmed tuesday is my egg collection day, im excited and nervous

@janey15 sure! Good like with the iui, hope it works! Might be worth researching how to improve things for better egg/sperm quality!

We're looking into acupuncture at the moment but willing to try anything!

I'm considering giving up my stressful job at sometime in the future if we don't get anywhere soon.
