IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@janey15 do you know the diagnosis? Less stress is a good idea! Healthy eating, vitamins too. Hope it works!

janey15 · 05/04/2019 20:08

The clinic says unexplained although I have endometriosis so surely that explains it?! We have really improved our diet over the last year or so. Stress is a big factor and I'm yet to get into supplements in a big way...

Just so fed up of this process. Had a proper cry at the arrival of AF earlier when I should be stroking my growing bump.

janey15 · 05/04/2019 20:09

Sorry, forgot to include @Viletta !

janey15 · 05/04/2019 20:10

Thank you @Todey84 x

Deeny83 · 06/04/2019 09:49

Thanks @Todey84. @viletta best of luck for monday, do you get an injection free day tomorrow, ive no injections on monday and i can't wait 🤣

@janey15 unexplained infertility diagnosis is so frustrating, im the same! I switched jobs, was in a very high stressful one, new job is better so far anyway, eating right is so important my diet was awful, ive improved it greatly but still room for improvement, i do love a take away!! Im hoping the changes ive made will help get me a positive outcome, if not i hope i can get some answers

janey15 · 06/04/2019 10:24

Thanks @Deeny83

Enjoy your injection-free day! I find them quite difficult too.

Viletta · 06/04/2019 11:26

For my EC pushed back to Wednesday and another scan on Monday. Had a scan today at a regular private ultrasound clinic that does scans for pregnant ladies normally. They were all amazed to see my follicular, I guess they don't see those quite so often! Haha

Todey84 · 06/04/2019 23:29

I have just realised that I have accidentally taken an extra BCP. I was meant to stop today but took 1 when doing my injection on autopilot! I am usually so organised, so feel so stupid. Really hope it doesn't affect anything.

DaisyMay25 · 07/04/2019 09:05

@Viletta I'm the same as you, I've got ascan tomorrow and hopefully EC on Wednesday. I'm always amazed to see the follicles!

LillyLeaf · 07/04/2019 09:47

@Today84 I'm sure it won't make any difference, but best mention it to your clinic.

3 Buserelin shots down and feeling like a pro. I think they might be making me sleepy though. I really hope my AF comes on time.

LillyLeaf · 07/04/2019 10:28

@DaisyMay25 @Viletta my first EC was pushed back, I was so ready for it to be done. Good luck for your scans and hopefully you'll get the green light for the trigger shot.

Todey84 · 07/04/2019 16:01

Thank you @LillyLeaf. I will defo phone the clinic tomorrow. 👍

Babymamawanna · 07/04/2019 18:13

Hi Everyone I’m new to this site.
I am due for my 1st embyo transfer tomorrow. I’m really excited but... I have thrush (sorry tmi) I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before ET Due to the progesterone??

Viletta · 08/04/2019 09:19

@DaisyMay25 hope your scan goes well today and you are all ready for EC on Wednesday!

DaisyMay25 · 08/04/2019 09:22

@Viletta thank you, you too!! I'm so ready for my EC (although seriously anxious about it)

DaisyMay25 · 08/04/2019 09:22

@Babymamawanna good luck with your ET today

DaisyMay25 · 08/04/2019 09:24

@LillyLeaf buserelin made me sleepy too, and moody and hot flushes. It delayed my AF by two days too but I think that's normal, hopefully it doesn't do that to you

LillyLeaf · 08/04/2019 09:45

Good luck with scans today. My EC was totally fine, I wasn't awake, the little sleep was great. I felt nothing after and I did wonder if they even went in there!

@Babymamawanna good luck with your transfer. I felt a bit irritated by the progesterone, best mention it to the clinic.

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 09:57

Unfortunately the lab called me this morning and explained my embryo has arrested so no transfer for me this time round.
I'm so disappointed and upset I didn't realise it could all fall apart at this stage Sad

Todey84 · 08/04/2019 10:04

So sorry to hear your news @Babymamawanna. xx

Glad your egg collection went so well @Lillyleaf. Were you heavily sedated or GA?

LillyLeaf · 08/04/2019 10:22

@Babymamawanna I'm so sorry, it's so hard to go through all this and nothing to transfer. Look after yourself. Was this your first cycle?

@Todey84 my EC was back in December. I'm doing a FET this cycle. I was sedated but it felt like a general anesthesia. I think they gave me a heavier sedation which was nice. I was completely asleep and woke up after in a bed all curled up and cosy . I came around pretty quickly and was fine the rest of the day, maybe a bit tired. It was a great excuse to curl up on the sofa.

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 10:27

@LillyLeaf yes it was my first cycle. I am with the Lister Clinic in Chelsea.
They called on Saturday and said it was top quality and doing well, which was a relief seeing as out of 8 eggs retrieved only 1 made it! I'm only 34 my partner is 30.
I am slightly overweight but otherwise in great shape. I feel like maybe I should of researched this more before embarking on this journey and spending so much money. Sad

LillyLeaf · 08/04/2019 10:36

@Babymamawanna I know it's hard but try to view the first cycle as a practice run, the clinic will learn what to do differently next time. In the meantime maybe look at improving the egg and sperm quality. Have you read 'It Starts With The Egg'? It suggests taking ubiquinol which can help egg quality. This is all so cruel but hopefully we'll get there one day . Were you NHS or private? Have you looked into Access Fertility? It's a refund multi cycle program. I'm so pleased we did it, it's all paid upfront so I don't need to worry everytime I visit the clinic and paying more money.

MicroVic · 08/04/2019 10:43

Hi,
Im on my first round of ivf, due for egg collection 24th April, anyone else due around this time?
Mrs BW

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 10:57

@LillyLeaf thank you for your suggestion. We are private so I think next time we will do the insurance thing.
Im going to get healthier now take supplements and not take any of this for granted.
Good luck to everyone on here!!!
Hopefully I'll be back with an update of good news SmileSmileSmileSmile
