IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@microvic huge congratulations!!! So happy for you..

@lillyleaf - how are you doing today?

LillyLeaf · 09/05/2019 15:09

@Hunter14 I've been pretty stressed today. Work has been annoying and I'm waiting to hear if my progesterone bloods are ok. Really worried that it won't be at the correct level and we'll have to delay the transfer. I really need to spend time tonight relaxing. I don't think I felt like this last time. How are you doing?

Hunter14 · 09/05/2019 16:24

@lillyleaf - I’m sorry that you have had a stressed day! I’ve not had a good day. I started the day by throwing up after taking my meds. I don’t think they mix well and today was the day they decided to say hello again. Feeling a bit better but worried about tomorrow AM when I need to take them all again.
Anyway - fingers crossed that your progesterone is all good & you can relax and get mentally ready for tomorrow..

LillyLeaf · 09/05/2019 17:43

@Hunter14 oh no that's awful, which meds are making you sick? My progesterone bloods are fine so we're still on for tomorrow. Fingers crossed the embryos defrost ok. I think I'll have a nice bath tonight as hopefully it will be the last one for a while.

LillyLeaf · 09/05/2019 17:58

I think I might have some progesterone rage (well I'm blaming that anyway), pretty much everyone pissed me off on the way home, oops.

mumsey2be · 09/05/2019 18:30

@microvic! Many congrats this is wonderful news!

mikkyr · 09/05/2019 20:42

Had EC collection today. 5 eggs and husbands had his testes biopsy and sperm are all good. So at the moment we are thawing our previously frozen eggs and fertilizing for implantation on Saturday all going well.

Doc has given me the dreaded progesterone pessaries with a schedule of 6am 2pm and 10pm. How strict are these timings? I’m usually fast asleep by 10pm. Can I insert it at 9pm?

MicroVic · 09/05/2019 21:01

@Hunter14 I got sick and dizzy on the meds. Spent one day vomiting all day and nearly passed out but it passed after a few days. Hope you feel better soon. It'll be worth it

Hope everyone is doing ok

Todey84 · 09/05/2019 21:41

I am struggling today, my emotions have been so up and down. Thought I would get an appointment today and they haven't even booked that in yet, think I would feel happier If they had. As soon as I have a schedule to work to I am happy as I can plan things around it, so just feel in limbo right now.

I was also going to look forward to a glass of wine to relax, but thinking that I should abstain totally as I am worried about the quality of our embryos.

Really wish I had a crystal ball, could go through all this stress for it to ultimately fail. Such a rollercoaster and i have only just started!

LillyLeaf · 09/05/2019 22:04

@Todey84 one glass of wine won't do any harm. Sorry you're feeling like this, how soon can you get an appointment?

Todey84 · 09/05/2019 22:31

They should be phoning tomorrow, if not I will be chasing. I was hoping for next week. xx

MicroVic · 10/05/2019 07:28

@todey below is the DHEA supplement I took. Some people say to take it 3 times a day but I just took it morning and night. Im now pretty convinced it helped with embryo equality and made me feel like a was doing something positive.
Just a thought 💚

Hunter14 · 10/05/2019 07:53

@microvic - thank you so much. So far so good this morning 😊

@lillyleaf - wanted to say good luck for today. Let’s do this!

2019isouryear · 10/05/2019 08:48

@MicroVic hope u don’t mind me briefly jumping on the thread. I just wondered if the DHEA u took was recommended as I’ve had mixed responses about whether to take it if it hasn’t been recommended. Recently had a fail so want to do everything I can if we go for another cycle.

orangefolly · 10/05/2019 08:51

Good luck today @Lillylead and @Hunter14 - cheering your little embryos on! You've done everything you can to make it work.

@mikkyr I think it's fine to vary the timings a bit as long as you spread it out over the day as much as you can.

Mixed bag result for me yesterday. They could see more follicles than last time (16 apparently!), but they are not ready, so I'm going in for another scan on Sat. Awkward because of the timing for the genetic testing - they might try to push me all the way to next Wed for egg collection. Bit worried about being the size of a house by then, and what if the eggs are past their best??

@orangefolly thanks and 16 sounds great, hopefully the timings work out.

@Hunter14 good luck today. I had a crap nights sleep so can't wait to get back home for a snooze. I've got the big socks and soup ready to keep me all warm.

@2019isouryear it wasn't prescribed but I just felt I had to try something and made this decision. Not ideal I know but in was please with the egg quality and had a higher percentage fertilise than average so it didn't do any halm.

orangefolly · 10/05/2019 14:38

Omg guys I am so bloated this is crazy 😂 Any tips for keeping it bearable til EC? Think I need to go and live in a floatation tank! 🐳

Transfer done. It felt a lot more uncomfortable this time, not sure why. OTD is 20th but I'll probably test in the 19th at 9dp5dt (what I did last time) which is an Sunday so time to process the result rather than rushing off to work. And the wait begins.

@Hunter14 how did it go? Hope you're feeling better.

Hunter14 · 10/05/2019 15:39

@lillyleaf - so happy to hear yours went well but sorry it was uncomfortable.
I’m on the train home with Mum. Mine went ok. Good 4BB transferred under sedation. I’m tired and a little sore but on my way to acupuncture as soon as I arrive.

Fingers crossed for us both. My test date is 22nd but might test before.

Rest up & positive thoughts and visualisation 😊.
