IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

There we go. 😊 xx

LeanneMFord · 06/05/2019 20:46

Thanks everyone trying not to get ahead of myself as OTD is another week away. X

MicroVic · 07/05/2019 07:21

Has anyone ever weighted to test at the clinic. My husband strongly feels it is best to weight. He says if its negative at least we can start planning the FET so it will still feel like we are moving forward.
What does everyone think?

LeanneMFord · 07/05/2019 09:11

Last time I had every intention of waiting to the test day. But I never got that far as bled 2 days before. This time I just felt different so I tested. Although my husband wasn't keen on me testing early! Oops 😳 but now he's just worried about me doing anything x

mumsey2be · 07/05/2019 17:07

@MicroVic I waited until OTD, couldn't face stressing myself out even more.

orangefolly · 07/05/2019 17:36

I have always snuck in a test a day or two early, but my clinic doesn't ask you to come in and test, just pee on a stick and repeat a few days later. I figured I'd rather have a cry in my bathroom at home if it's going to be anywhere!

@orangefolly yeah I know what you mean but ive almost resigned myself to the fact that its not going to work first time. If I can hold out tomorrow I will

Todey84 · 07/05/2019 18:45

@Microvic I am glad I tested early and feel sure that my result is 90% accurate. I just like to have an answer and haven't regretted doing it early. One of the reasons was that I didn't want to go straight into work in case of a negative on Thurs morning. By doing it yesterday, I had the whole day at home with my husband, which influenced my decision of when I done the test. I think it is just a personal choice and how u deal with things. xx

LeanneMFord · 07/05/2019 20:24

It's everyone's individual decision but sometimes it's more worrying doing a test. I no am freaking out that my positive result will change because I don't feel pregnant and I no its early days so I won't be feeling much yet but it's just another worry. X

LillyLeaf · 08/05/2019 08:26

@MicroVic I agree that it's such a personal decision. Last time I was told by the clinic not to test early and to test at the clinic with a blood test at 9dp5dt. This totally stressed me out because all I could think of was getting a phone call from the clinic while at work then having to call DP and tell him the probably terrible news. So I did a home test on OTD before going to the clinic, I'm so glad I did. Me and DP looked at the test together and found out at the same time. I probably won't test early as I think both a negative and a faint positive are still not clear enough for me.

@Hunter14 how are you feeling about Friday? I was pretty anxious yesterday. I'm worried the progesterone is working as my breasts are not sore at all and it's been 3 days of lubion and Cyclogest. I'll have a progesterone blood test tomorrow morning to make sure it's fine before transfer.

Hunter14 · 08/05/2019 09:23

@lillyleaf - I’m doing ok overall. My breasts are not too sore either which is different from other cycles and I’m on double the dose . I do feel heavy and more tired than I remember on previous rounds. The meds in the morning are making me feel a little sick but it goes away after a while. Trying to stay positive & visualise. My test date is May 22 😳. What time Friday is your transfer? Mine is 11:30.

LillyLeaf · 08/05/2019 09:37

Mine is at 12, then acupuncture and test day is 19th I think which is a Sunday so they'll probably ask me to come in for a blood test on Monday 20th. I'm trying to be positive but realistic. I can't help but think because we got a positive in December that was our chance then.

MicroVic · 08/05/2019 09:52

Thanks for all the advice, we do both urine and blood test at the clinic tomorrow and both have the Thursday and Friday off for my brother in laws wedding on Saturday so will be very occupied over the wkend. So just going to wait it out. Im not feeling optimistic as still have mild cramps

orangefolly · 08/05/2019 10:06

Good like for tomorrow @Microvic - got my fingers crossed for you.

And @Lillyleaf and @Hunter14 for the transfers on Fri!

I had a less good scan today - fewer follicles spotted (9), and they're not sure if I'll be ready for weekend EC so they might try to push me to next Wed, which seems too far away! It's because we're doing genetic screening they can only do certain days apparently 🙁

Good luck for tomorrow @Microvic and to @Lillyleaf & @Hunter14 for your transfers. xx

MicroVic · 08/05/2019 17:58

@todey are you taking another test tomorrow? We've already decided that we'll try to do a FET as soon as possible if this round fails. Hopefully a nice holiday first then back on the drugs. Hope your doing ok.

@Lillyleaf & @Hunter14 good luck for transfers. Do you know how many your having?

Todey84 · 08/05/2019 18:39

@Microvic I will do the test that I have from the clinic, but bleeding more today and reckon aunt flow will b in full swing once I stop the progesterone. Looking forward to speaking to the clinic tomorrow and getting an appointment booked in as I want to start another cycle asap.

Keep positive, u have a really good quality embryo on board and cramping can b a good sign. xx

LillyLeaf · 08/05/2019 19:00

@MicroVic I'll transfer 1 this time but maybe think about 2 if this doesn't work. I have 4 embryos frozen so hopefully at least 1 will work.

Passtherioja · 08/05/2019 19:19

My ICSI babies are are now 10 & 13 (tries number 5 & 6 but methods have moved on) Hang in there ladies, it's painful, traumatic and expensive ... but my goodness when it works it makes up for it all xx

Hunter14 · 08/05/2019 20:44

@lillyleaf - I have acupuncture tomorrow afternoon & then again Friday late afternoon too. Today side effects got more notable for me. Headache has ramped up & aches more noticeable too.

@microvic @todey84 thanks for the good luck 😊& good luck to you too..

orangefolly · 08/05/2019 23:03

Got the IVF dread and fear tonight Sad Just worrying it won't work out and we won't get any healthy embryos. Back for another scan in the morning. Starting to feel v bloated now too! Hope you're all doing well Flowers

OP posts:
LillyLeaf · 09/05/2019 07:53

@orangefolly I've absolutely got the IVF dread today. Worrying it won't work and having to it all again. This cycle has taken ages to get going, I waited ages for AF, then down regged for longer, I feel like it's been going on for months. But let's just keep everything crossed, hopefully we'll get there.

JLW14 · 09/05/2019 09:13

MicroVic · 09/05/2019 11:33

So just got back from the hospital and we got a strong positive, still waiting for bloods to confirm but im in shock at the moment. Id convinced myself it hadn't worked and almost accepted it.
