IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@orangefolly Looks like we're on similar schedules! I'm starting my stims tonight. Interestingly we're on completely different drugs - I'm on a Menopur/Bemfola combo (2 injections!).

LeanneMFord · 02/05/2019 20:18

@Todey84 I don't no. Don't no if i will. Don't no how early I can do it as i had no trigger shot so there's nothing in my system to make it positive other than being pregnant. X

Todey84 · 02/05/2019 20:52

@Microvic @LeanneMFord I am tempted to test Monday. I took 250mcg of Ovitrelle for my trigger. A quick Google sounds like it should be out of my system within 10 days. It is prob either Monday morning or Wed night I will test, depends whether I cave early, which I probably will. Not usually very patient! Don't want a rubbish day off if It is negative though. I also don't want to be feeling down on my course on Tues and Wed if it is negative. 😙 xx

orangefolly · 03/05/2019 08:10

@LennyFitz great! Nice to have a stims buddy! How are you feeling? Early days yet I suppose...

@LeanneMFord your safe from a false positive then. When do you plan to test.
@todey84 think I might test Monday the husband wants to weight to test at the clinic but I don't think I can weight that long

LillyLeaf · 03/05/2019 12:25

So exciting that some of you are so close to testing.

I had another scan to check my lining, it all looks great so I'll start progesterone on Sunday and transfer will be Friday. Even the thought of the tww feels me with dread.

LeanneMFord · 03/05/2019 17:22

@MicroVic I don't no whether to or not. I hate this 2 week wait and I no people say it will be worth it but in my head I'm thinking but what if it isn't. Don't get me wrong I'm not being completely negative but I just don't want to get my hopes up. X

Todey84 · 03/05/2019 17:30

@LillyLeaf That's exciting. Moving along nicely now. 😊

@MicroVic Maybe both find out Monday then. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏 @LeanneMFord Know what u mean, I feel the same, which is why I am tempted to wait until I know it will be 100% reliable, although by Monday I would hope it should be accurate. It is difficult to decide. Think we can all just do what is best for us and feels right.

@Mumsey2be Wishing u the best of luck with your test date tomorrow.

I Hope everyone is ok and has a lovely weekend. xx

Hello All!
I wanted to join the conversation. Just started my third IVF cycle. Transfer next Friday. I’m with the same clinic but this time it seems a lot different to the previous two. My meds schedule is more organised & I have a few more meds added. I’m on ivf light so just estrogen, aspirin and steroid and Sunday I start the progesterone pessaries and antibiotics.

How are you all doing?

mumsey2be · 03/05/2019 20:57

Hello. I have news. My husband finally came home and i was delaying testing till he did as i didn't want to be on my own if it was negative. But it wasn't! BFP! 2-3 weeks according to ClearBlue. Cant quite take it in - it's been two years since my miscarriage and had nothing since. Still in shock and very cautious about being too optimistic too soon but wanted to share xx

LillyLeaf · 03/05/2019 21:00

@mumsey2be that's amazing, so happy for you. I totally understand you being cautious, I know I will be if I get another BFP.

@Hunter14 same dates as me. Are you doing a fresh or FET cycle?

Todey84 · 03/05/2019 21:05

@mumsey2be Yay. 🤗 Amazing news. Congratulations to u and your husband. Really hope it all works out for u. xx

Todey84 · 03/05/2019 21:08

Wecome @Hunter14 Good luck with your cycle.

Deeny83 · 03/05/2019 21:15

@Mumsey2b thats great news congratulations!! Xx

Hunter14 · 04/05/2019 06:41

@Lillyleaf same dates - great. Mine is a FET. One embryo. Nerves already starting. I’ve been having acupuncture as part of a wider general health treatment & trying to be positive. I am single so it’s all a little daunting.

@mumsey2be - Hugh congratulations- that’s amazing news!

Hunter14 · 04/05/2019 06:42

@todey84 - thanks so much 😊

MicroVic · 04/05/2019 07:20

@Mumsey2b congratulations that's amazing 💚

Just out of curiosity how old is everyone, how many cycles and different treatments have you had, do you know the cause of your infertility so far and do you have and children already, sorry for prying just wondered what everyones storey was.

Im 35, have acidic cervical mucus, 3 failed iui ( not convinced we did them at the optimum time ) and on first go of ivf. No babys yet but if all my frozen transfers fail as well we will definitely adopt.

LillyLeaf · 04/05/2019 08:30

@Hunter14 I'm FET too. It's all been a bit boring so far so was a bit shocked when I was told to start progesterone and transfer will be Friday, it felt very real and all the anxiety from my first round came back.

@MicroVic great idea. I'm 36 been ttc for 2 years for first baby. Unexplained infertility. We did our first fresh cycle in December, 5 embryos, 1 transferred, BFP, MC in February. Now on our 1st FET, transfering one. Terrified of it not working but also terrified of another MC.

mumsey2be · 04/05/2019 08:33

Thank you everyone. We are so delighted and also still quite nervy!

@MicroVic I am 40. TTC for 3 years. My husband has azoospermia so we started with IUI at 36/37. Got pregnant first IUI with donor sperm but MMC at 10 weeks in 2017. Since then, 2 more failed IUI with donor sperm. 3 failed IVF's we only ever got a couple of eggs each time and my eggs just never turned into embryos even with ICSI. 3 failed tries with informal donors at home. Finally success with double donation embryo at Gynem in Prague. Really recommend them.

LeanneMFord · 04/05/2019 08:34

@MicroVic
I'm 25 I have a son from my very lucky first round of ivf he is nearly 4. I was told at 15 I had PCOS and have a tube with fluid in so I had to have that cut and clamped before any treatment could go ahead. I have now had 2 fresh rounds of ivf and am now on my first frozen round as we were lucky to have 6 little ones to freeze. X

mumsey2be · 04/05/2019 08:35

@lily and @hunter hang in there, i know it is tough.

Todey84 · 04/05/2019 09:13

@MicroVic I am also 35, conceived very quickly, but was ectopic. Tried for a couple of months after ectopic and then went for tests, found out my tubes r blocked and immediately decided on IVF, so now on 1st round of IVF. Currently still have my tubes, may need removing or clipping if IVF usunsuccessful with them, no sign of any fluid up in them so far, so 🤞 I don't need an op!

Been with my husband a long time, but never felt ready to try before we did. Little did I know we were in store for such a long journey! xx

MicroVic · 04/05/2019 09:42

@LillyLeaf with out getting too graphic, have you ever tested your cervical mucus around ovulation? We've been ttc for 3 years total. They don't test for it in this country more but after the 3rd failed iui I home tested and was super acidic. Only know about it because my mum had it. Cant believe I didnt test sooner.

We seem to all have gone through such different things. Hope everyone have as relaxed a wkend as possible

Hunter14 · 04/05/2019 09:46

@mumsey2be - thanks 😊. I keeping saying it will all be worth it when it’s positive...

@lillyleaf - it’s so nice to know that there is someone else with the same timing. I start my progesterone tomorrow and then the fun begins as I really feel the side effects 😳.

@microvic - I am recently 40, single using donor sperm. 2 failed IVF - one fresh and one frozen. Thyroid and kidney disease makes this process a little challenging meds’ wise for me. I’m trying to stay positive & calm.

LeanneMFord · 04/05/2019 13:21

This might sound a silly question but how early would you test after a 5 day frozen transfer? My transfer was on the 30th. My OTD is the 13th.
