IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@MicroVic @orangefolly thanks. Feel like everything is going wrong today though. My little boy has come down with chicken pox and my husband has just been called out to a traffic collision (he's an on call firefighter) so hoping he gets back in time. X

Todey84 · 30/04/2019 10:04

@MicroVic I test at home next Thurs and inform the clinic, if positive I then test again a week later and if still positive, they arrange a scan between day 35 to 45. Would prefer an earlier scan as I still worry about the risk of ectopic. I can go to my local hospital at 6 weeks for a scan, so I could do that too if and hopefully when I get pregnant. Just to put my mind at ease.

I will try my best to wait but not sure I will b able to. I am tempted to do one on the Wed night, although not sure that will b as accurate as in the morning. Just because I would rather digest the result with my husband in the evening, rather than 1st thing and straight off to work. I am impatient though, so will probably test earlier.

How early r u testing? If u tested already today, it may b slightly too early. Lol. xx

MicroVic · 30/04/2019 10:40

@LeanneMFord that's not ideal but it can still all work out, Hope you hubby gets back and things go a little smoother this afternoon.

@todey84 ive got an appointment at the clinic next Thursday to pee test and blood test but know I will test on Wednesday so we are prepared.
Haha, I was tempted to just test every day. Ive got loads of test left from our iui lol xx

AF has arrived! Wooo!!!! I've never been this excited about that fact before 😂 Now we can get started. I knew wearing white knickers would do the trick 😂😂😂

Just had a call from the clinic my 2 embryos survived the thaw so still have 4 in the freezer. Transfer is at 3 Confused now I'm nervous x

mumsey2be · 30/04/2019 12:29

Thank you friends. Had another snotty cry this morning while mopping the floor!! But feeling generally better!

So what have we here today??

@LeanneMFord hope today went well.
@orangefolly - you can do the happy period dance now!!! Back in the game - great!

I shall have to change pages to see what everyone's said - i will be back!

mumsey2be · 30/04/2019 12:31

@orangefolly the power of WHITE pants! ROFL

@MicroVic and Todey84 not long now and we will all know where we stand - it is both scary and exciting - how are you feeling?

AFM, busy packing up house to fly back to theUK today - i'm off to Taunton to run a workshop and then finally back home after a month away. Is it wrong to be more excited to see my cat than my DH?

LeanneMFord · 30/04/2019 16:40

@mumsey2be thanks just got back was uncomfortable but bearable. Now the two week wait begins OTD is the 13th. I have a blood test in the morning then they phone me at about mid day. X

LillyLeaf · 30/04/2019 17:18

I actually feel like I'm getting somewhere now... I hand a scan this morning after being on Evorel patches for a week and my lining is 'lovely' and 'beautiful' so another scan on Friday then they will decide when I start the lovely progesterone (which is an injection and pessaries this time). So now I can start worrying the embryos won't thaw properly.

Becsharry · 30/04/2019 22:02

Hi everyone, I’m starting injections on Monday. We are having fet this time around. I had one fresh cycle which gave us our beautiful son.
We are having one transferred which is 4ba and we have a 4bb in the freezer.
Has anyone else had to wear patches? If so have you had any side affects?
Good luck everyone x

LillyLeaf · 01/05/2019 08:46

@Becsharry I'm using the patches for a FET, been on them for 10 days and they are fine. I felt much better when the Buserelin dose was lowered and I started the patches. Good luck.

Becsharry · 01/05/2019 09:16

Thank you! Was worried as didn’t know what to expect with them.
Good luck

MicroVic · 01/05/2019 10:18

Hope everyone is doing ok today, I feel positive just because the suns out and hubbys taking me out for lunch, I wanted to go to my favourite sushi place but realised that's not such a good idea haha so just getting Vietnamese. Feel like all the fresh spicy food will do me good.

Hope your all trying to enjoy the simple things in this while wind of shit we are all going through lol

LeanneMFord · 01/05/2019 11:03

@MicroVic i feel very odd today. All that keeps going through my head is what do I do if this doesn't work and I keep questioning everything I do. My husband keeps telling me to stop thinking like that. But the last bfn was so hard I don't no if I can go through that again. X

Todey84 · 01/05/2019 13:50

@MicroVic Enjoy, sounds good. 😋

@LeanneMFord U obviously have resilient embryos to go through the freeze, so hopefully u have a little fighter on board to get your bfp this time. I was really emotional yesterday as I am worrying because my embryos r not top quality. Back at work today, relieved to have my mind occupied as I was driving myself mad on google at home! xx

MicroVic · 01/05/2019 14:30

@LeanneMFord your aloud to feel scared but to feel realistically hopeful. That's what im aiming for atm. Over the last two years my clinic has gone from 37% to 44%
They are increasing our chances all the time so lets hope we all gey bfp and up those odds again

@today84 I almost wish I was back at work but have a very stressful physically demanding job so brought 3 new books while we were out. Google is the devil. Im leaving my phone in other rooms to avoid temptation lol

LeanneMFord · 01/05/2019 19:10

@MicroVic @Todey84 thanks hopefully fingers crossed. We had 2 put in so hopefully at least one of them sticks. I am also back at work but that's only because I've been off with a viral infection. So today was first day back. My husband works at the same place and kept checking on me and making sure I wasn't doing anything I shouldn't be. I get excited and then I'm like no don't get your hopes up you did that last time. Such a stressful time really!

Todey84 · 01/05/2019 20:38

@MicroVic Enjoy your books, defo a better idea than Google and best to keep your phone out of the way. 👍

@LeanneMFord Didn't realise u also have 2 on board. 😊 I would love having my husband at work for support.

Glad it is bank holiday next week and then I am on a course Tues, Wed so not actually too many working days!! We may know this time next week, but it feels ages away.

LeanneMFord · 01/05/2019 22:12

@Todey84 yep we went for 2. I no there's risks but everything in life has risks. Yea it is nice just trying to blend in at work though as no one knows so don't want people to notice that I'm not doing the heavy lifting. How are you feeling? X

orangefolly · 01/05/2019 22:28

Eek, did first Gonal F injection tonight, shit just got real! 😬 Also started on dexamethazone this morning, felt like crap for a couple of hours after but hopefully that was just nerves. Hope you're all doing okay!

OP posts:
LeanneMFord · 02/05/2019 09:32

@orangefolly it's weird isn't it starting just one thing makes everything really real. Hope your feeling better today. X

MicroVic · 02/05/2019 10:05

Hows everyone doing today?
I've had weird little cramps all morning originally thought they were period pains but they are just small and uncomfortable not actually pain.
I just keep thinking we will know one way or another by this time next week if I can resist testing until then haha.
What does everyone think about testing early?

LeanneMFord · 02/05/2019 10:22

@MicroVic I feel ok apart from my cup of tea has tasted funny. But then I think surely it's to early to be a symptom. I tested early last time and if anything because it was negative I just didn't care then. So very unsure whether to test early or not. X

Todey84 · 02/05/2019 13:40

@LeanneMFord Feeling much better now I am back at work. Although I am looking forward to bank holiday. 😊 When r u thinking of testing and @MicroVic?

Hope everyone is Ok?

Had a couple of what could b symptoms, but I am sure I would convince myself of this, so trying to not take too much notice and get my hopes up as I know this can happen from the drugs.

@Orangefolly Hope everything is going well.

MicroVic · 02/05/2019 17:28

I've worked out my trigger shot will be completely out my system by Sunday so might test Tuesday, I really couldnt deal with a false positive so will leave it till at least then.

Hope everyone one their meds is doing ok. I felt terrible before the egg retrieval but popping the blastocyst back in was absolutely fine so don't worry about that part.
