IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@Viletta I'm so sorry. Hopefully the blood test says different. X

sillysmiles · 25/04/2019 10:54

@mumsey2be I know you are right - 3 good ones is great. I guess I am disappointed that 3 from 13 is a low rate. Last time we got 3 out of 9 with only 2 making it to day 5. This time we went with ICSI hoping to improve the fertilisation rate.

@Viletta So sorry to hear that.

MicroVic · 25/04/2019 10:56

@Todey84 thats great

We got 10 eggs out and 9 have taken this morning so im feeling positive

Ive had really bad pain last night and this morning but I had to reduce the hormone injections as I had a strong reaction so been told to watch for signs.

Sorry some people journeys are not going so great but science is always coming up with new things and the odds are always increasing

Lucindaa · 25/04/2019 11:00

@Viletta Sorry to hear this! Stay positive, I'm praying the blood test will say otherwise! x

Thx everyone for their kind words. I have contacted Fertility Access @Todey84 and I think we are going to go ahead for another round in the summer funded by taking out a 27 month interest-free credit card!

Lu x

Todey84 · 25/04/2019 12:12

@Viletta So sorry, sending u big hugs. Reassuring to know u have a couple of frosties if needed. x

@MicroVic Wow, that's a great number. Fab news. 😊 Hope u feel better soon. I am feeling ok, although really dislike the pessaries!

4 out of the 8 have fertilised, so I am booked in for a transfer on Monday all being well. 🤞

@sillysmiles We have a similar number, I am trying my best to keep positive... I have heard of people having 1 at retrieval and getting a bfp, so it really does only take the one! Wishing u the best of luck.

@Lucindaa Really glad u will b having another go, it has definitely helped take the pressure off knowing that I have a few cycles paid for. Take care of yourself and make the most of the break for the time being.

Deeny83 · 25/04/2019 12:49

@viletta so sorry to hear you got a bfn, really hoping things are different on your OTD, you never know!

My OTD is on monday too but can start testing on Saturday, ill be 13dp5dt by sat, not sure why the clinic has asked me to test so late, everyone else seems to be testing around day 10. I was fully prepared to test yesterday then chickened out, think i will hold out until Saturday and live in hope until then. I also dont fancy being in work if I got a bfn. I dreamt last night i had a baby too!!

mumsey2be · 25/04/2019 13:58

@viletta so sorry to hear this. That's disappointing for sure. It is good you have two more FET opps before the summer. Do you think you will go straight into another round or have a break?

@Deeny83 everything crossed for you!

@Lucindaa happy to hear you will keep going. Bastard numbers game that this is.

@MicroVic @sillysmiles @Todey84 wishing you happy growing!

@LeanneMFord how are you today?

I have been feeling very sick today. Drugs must be taking effect!

Ginandtonic31 · 25/04/2019 14:27

@mumsey2be thanks for all your reassuring words this work. I know a few people who left there same age husbands for older men and love it. I think it's because we've been together so long I get that 'grass is greener' feeling and that everything should be perfect and of it isn't you leave! (I get that impression from some threads on mumsnet that you should just go if you have to work at something and it heightens my anxiety. What's wrong with doing things different sometimes!) I need to stick to these nice mumsnet threads and not end up on the others.

I hope you're feeling ok @Viletta

sillysmiles · 25/04/2019 14:39

I took the day of collection and the day after off work and am back in work today. Am feeling completely low energy still today. I don't remember this from the last time.

@MicroVic thats great numbers. Congrats

Viletta · 25/04/2019 14:43

@mumsey2be I think I'll go back straight away. I think the recommendation would be to skip one month, so this should be June.

LeanneMFord · 25/04/2019 16:56

@mumsey2be feel ok thanks. How are you?
Feels so real they are going to phone me Tuesday morning once they have thawed ( I'm having 2 put back in) with a time for transfer. I'm nervous as my last fresh cycle I bled the day after Boxing Day so was right on Christmas that we found out it didn't work. X

Deeny83 · 25/04/2019 17:16

I don't know what came over me but i had to test, my last post was at lunchtime saying im not testing until Saturday and 4 hours later im peeing on a stick. (i got a bfp, but ill be waiting for my next few tests in the coming days before i can relax a little)

Todey84 · 25/04/2019 17:29

@Deeny83 That is wonderful news, so happy for u. 🤗🤗🤗

Cocorocky1 · 25/04/2019 19:04

Omg that’s amazing news fabulous x

orangefolly · 25/04/2019 19:05

Hi everyone, just jumping on to see how everyone is getting on.
So sorry for the BFN @Viletta - it really sucks.

Congratulations @Deeny83 - keeping my fingers crossed for you it's a sticky one!

I've been quiet the last couple of weeks since they put me on ice to wait for our karyotyping results. I've been trying not to think about it too much! But we got the results back yesterday and we're both 'normal' so that's a relief. It means we'll just do PGS testing if we get embryos that are up to it, instead of PGD. I'm back for a second go at a baseline scan tomorrow after 12 days on the contraceptive pill. Hope it all looks okay and we can start....

Hi girls! Had our nurse app today she showed us how to do the injections told us to ring on first day of my period then I have to go in on cycle day two for a scan and blood test and pick my injections up then bloods half way through doing the injections is there any one from experience know if they can not to do procedure etc egg collection even if you’ve taken all the injections

MamaTuska · 25/04/2019 19:20

@Deeny83 good luck

Todey84 · 25/04/2019 19:38

@JLW14 Have u compared drug prices? I saved about £500 getting mine from Asda rather than my clinic. They sell them at cost and do not profit. U will have regular scans so if your response is poor, then they can increase your dose during stimulation. My cycle got delayed as my down regulation didn't work. Waited another month and took the pill in addition, which worked for me. They may tweak things as they go as every person is different. My doctor made it sound like the 1st cycle was the experimental one to have a known plan in place going forwards once u know what works 4 u.

Ginandtonic31 · 25/04/2019 19:43

@Todey84 my doctor also said first is an experiment. They just don't know how you will react.

JLW14 · 25/04/2019 19:54

They haven’t said it’s like a experimental one just explained that I have to ring on day 1 of my cycle then day two go for scan and blood test then start injections & my isci is through the nhs we get one free

Deeny83 · 25/04/2019 20:03

Thanks everyone

@orangefolly great to hear you got good results back, best of luck with your baseline scan tomorrow

@JLW14 if you don't respond well to the drugs, ie not enough follicles or they dont grow to a certain size etc they may cancel but as Todey84 mentioned, they'll tweak things as needed and this is why you go in for regular scans so the clinic can keep a close eye on you and give you the best chance possible

Todey84 · 25/04/2019 20:05

Experimental certainly doesn't rule out the 1st cycle working, just personalizing the cycle to what your body responds to. So all 1st cycles will effectively b doing this.

I have found my 1st one to be ok so far. It has been the waiting and emotions which have been the hardest part as opposed to the drugs and procedures.

Todey84 · 25/04/2019 20:07

@Oangefolly Good luck for tomorrow

MicroVic · 25/04/2019 20:08

@Deeny83 great news 😊

WestyNottingham · 25/04/2019 20:46

Is it too late to join this thread?? I did my first buserelin jab this evening, and am doing a long protocol. I am a solo mum to a 19m boy and this is my first attempt for a sibling. I’m shitting myself!
