IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

Sorry to hear your news @Lucindaa Hope you feel more positive about your journey in the not too distant future and can make a plan to try again if you wish to do so. Try to be kind on yourself xxx

Ginandtonic31 · 23/04/2019 18:02

You're so right @mumsey2be. I wish I didn't care so much about other people's opinions or fitting into a norm. I'm trying to work through that right now.

I'm sorry to hear your news @Lucindaa

Viletta · 23/04/2019 18:12

@Ginandtonic31 both my DH and my parents have 13 years of age difference. This is not unusual x

Ginandtonic31 · 23/04/2019 18:51

That's the thing @Viletta people always know someone with an age gap but it only takes one person to knock you down sometimes. I suppose like at work you can do so much good stuff and one bad thing and that's all you remember. I don't think this journey has helped me as I think it's sent my head mad! I have this obsession that people think we just look daft. Then the worry he's too old for a baby started. I always have to have something to worry about 😂maybe I will feel better when I'm doing the mess for the transfer.

JLW14 · 23/04/2019 19:15

We have the nurses app on Thursday about injecting myself and god knows what else! Anyone had the experience yet with the nurse?

Viletta · 23/04/2019 20:10

@Ginandtonic31 chances are no one really thinks much about it at all. Men have kids in their 40s these days, my dad had me when he was 40. There are lots of advantages to be around a more mature partner, you'll be always young and fun in his eyes:)

Todey84 · 23/04/2019 20:23

@Lucindaa I am so sorry to hear your news, i really feel for you. Hopefully u will figure out a way and have another attempt. We are using access fertility and will get 70% refunded if no joy after 3 attempts. It may be worth looking at for the future. x

@Microvic Glad u r feeling better now. Yes, all good thank u. Hope u get on ok tomorrow. I am also at the clinic in the morn. Lovely to have no more injections at home. 😊

@Deeny83 Good luck for the morning.

Ginandtonic31 · 23/04/2019 20:36

@JLW14 I had the injection teaching twice! Not sure if your clinic will do anything different though.

@Viletta see I think 40 is still a normal age to have kids. 46 just scares me a bit. I think I'm over thinking it all a bit.

JLW14 · 23/04/2019 20:50

Gina - do they give you the injections that day? Or near the time you inject yourself, is it day three of your period you start to inject? We saw the consultant last week and everything she told us was too much to take in at once lol

Viletta · 23/04/2019 21:01

The meds will have video instructions on their sites if you need a reminder.

@Ginandtonic31 46 is absolutely fine for a father, the baby will keep you both young. Deciding to start a family is a wonderful thing at any age, I'm sure you'll meet many couples with same age difference or same age as your husband when you get to the kindergarten or school. Don't listen what people say, they probably don't even remember what a stupid thing they did say

Ginandtonic31 · 23/04/2019 21:23

Thank you @Viletta your support (and not judging) means a lot. I'm working really hard on being happy with how lucky I am. I've found I always have to find something to worry about!

@JLW14 I started on day 2 but I think all clinics are different. First time I got my drugs on the day I started stimms second time I took my prescription to pharmacy after my injection recap and for them there and then. Mainly because the pharmacy always has like a 40 min wait and my scans are always in a morning so like to rush off to work after rather than hang around in pharmacy! I've collected my drugs for transfer already. It hidden them away to stop the panic!

LillyLeaf · 24/04/2019 06:34

I did my injection in an airport toilet last night, so glamorous. Hope everyone is ok.

mumsey2be · 24/04/2019 08:27

Woke up feeling rather sick. It's so annoying when you can't know if its the pills or an exciting symptom spot....

sillysmiles · 24/04/2019 11:04

I'm popping in here because I need to put this somewhere.

Egg collection was yesterday and we got 13. Clinic rang this morning to say 9 were mature and suitable for injection and only 3 fertilised overnight. So disappointed. This us our last round of ivf, so it's down ro these three. Had really hoped to have a few more frozen. No guarantees that these three will even make it to transfer stage.

Arrrggghhh....

Todey84 · 24/04/2019 14:47

Had my egg collection, which was not as bad as I thought. All went well. Got 8 eggs, which is more than we were expecting, so really pleased with that.

@sillysmiles Keeping my fingers crossed for you

Viletta · 24/04/2019 15:52

@Todey84 @sillysmiles all great news!
Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

ivfround3zoe · 24/04/2019 19:00

Hi everyone, anyone in the dreaded wait I had 2 embryos grade c on Sunday and now I feel like I'm going mad! It's so hard even though I have been through this before x

mumsey2be · 24/04/2019 19:16

@sillysmiles 3 good un's is 3 good un's honest!! I know it's hard , but imagine - 3 rounds with never, ever an embryo to transfer... so you had 3 good un; s and lets wish them good growing! xx

@todey84 - go you - good news!

@ivfround3zoe yes me too -i am 5dpt on a 5 day embryo. I feel strangely relaxed and relieved - and i am squeezing your hand. We're in this together. x

ivfround3zoe · 24/04/2019 20:40

@mumsey2be I'm 3dp5dt I wish I was relaxed I bet it's really helping you. I have only just joined this so I'm new to it all but I think it's going to help me Smile

JLW14 · 24/04/2019 21:27

Nurses app tomorrow a bit nervous not knowing what to expect 🙈

LeanneMFord · 24/04/2019 21:51

Haven't been very active on here recently as not much been happening other than realising the combination of buserelin and progynova has turned me into a moody cow. My poor husband Confused I have my scan tomorrow to see if my lining has thickened up. Fingers crossed. Hope everyone else is feeling ok. X

janey15 · 24/04/2019 22:06

@Ginandtonic31 no not really - I was a real daddy's girl! I was aware that my parents were a bit older than the 'norm' in my little primary school but soon met loads of people with 'older' parents when I went to secondary school. I know we shouldn't worry what other people think but I really struggle with it!

mumsey2be · 25/04/2019 08:28

@ginandtonic31 I love that comment earlier i the thread from the lady with the older daddy who said 'you will always be young and fun in their eyes'! I think this is so important and part of why my hubsnad doesnt care tha ti have struggled with my weight these last three years, he jus tthinks he is well chuffed to fondle such a yougn hottie - thsi is great for my self esteem - as oppose to partner i had who were may age and constantly on at me about being perfect and hot 'for' them to 'fancy' me. Fuck that shit.

Also, he is a proper adult. I think it takes men some time to get there! And even though he is that much older, because he never had children ,( azoospermic) he has kept his joyful playfulness which i just love.

See George Clooney, Jeff Goldblum for hot first time older dads. Michael 'your vagina gave me tongue cancer Catherine' not so much

sore boobs this am. Stabby pain in cervix. No idea what that means.

Got to deliver a webinar this morning - so at least i get to deliver something Haha.

Who has test time this week?

LeanneMFord · 25/04/2019 09:39

Scan went well. Lining is 7.4 so have to continue with the progynova until next Tuesday then transfer that afternoon. Also have to start the progesterone tomorrow. Beginning to feel very real x

Viletta · 25/04/2019 09:44

Hi all, got bfn today on 10dp5dt, looks like I'm out. OTD is Monday but af expected today. Obviously still hoping bfn will miraculously turn to bfp. Happy I've got 2 embryos on ice. Good luck everyone!
