Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

@Eleanor15 could it not be implantation bleeding?

@fulanigirl sorry to hear it looks like a chemical for you. Keep us informed what happens.

I used acupuncture when trying for DD but found it got too painful and didn’t seem to help at all.

I’m taking my 5th Clomid tablet today, but have also noticed (in addition to having thrush last week), that I have Pityriasis Rosea.

I’d never heard of it before but a friend who is a GP said that’s what it looks like. (I thought it was ringworm at first). It starts as a red mark, then spreads as a rash. I guess the good news is PR isn’t contagious (whereas ringworm is), but it certainly doesn’t put you in the mood for BD.

It can also take up to 12 weeks to fully go away 😞.

Hopefully the rash will fade quicker than that as my anxiety around TTC is high enough as it is without adding to the mix.

fulanigirl · 24/03/2019 07:57

@Eleonor15 a chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage that happens before the 5th week. The egg is fertilised but it doesn't really implant properly. The body then gets rid of it and it comes like your period. I've had 2 of these this year, and I think I might be having a third. So far no bleeding though.

Eleonor15 · 24/03/2019 15:49

@fulanigirl oh, so sad to hear about this. Hope it will be a normal pregnancy!

Eleonor15 · 24/03/2019 17:39

@doomkittycleo its not bleeding exactly, its not nice (colour wise) first days of spotting. So I suppose AF will show up soon.

doomkittycleo · 24/03/2019 18:54

@Eleanor15, implantation bleeding looks an awful lot like spotting. If it’s a few days earlier than usual it could be a good sign.

Look up some pictures of IB to see what I mean. Fingers crossed it’s not AF for you this time.

Bear88 · 24/03/2019 21:12

Hi all, how is everyone feeling on this lovely clomid train were all on?!

@Eleonor15 sorry to read your spotting. It's so disheartening when your trying everything to get pregnant.

Hubby and I have now reached exactly 5 years since we started TTC. Still on my daily prolactin medication - if I become pregnant I have to stop taking it immediately. I'm currently on CD14 - took 100mg of clomid on days 2-6 of cycle. First one on clomid and my rash on my face has finally more or less gone. Hubby is being sedated tomorrow for dental work so wanting to BD tonight as dont think he'll be in the mood tomorrow or rest of the week for that matter. I'm not using OPK's as I find that it makes me more stressed out. What will be will be and I have my 21 day blood test next Monday - stupid weekends messes up the timing so don't even know if will miss it or not!

@Marmite83 how are you doing? I'll be going into the TWW soon enough and have been feeling twinges in what I assume are my ovaries so fingers crossed I have ovulated - if not onto the next cycle of clomid!

Eleonor15 · 24/03/2019 21:34

@doomkittycleo i just googled IB and it mostly shows light red or pink colour. Some are more brownish ones, but mine (so embarassed to say this) doesnt look nice at all (dark brown) and has clots. BlushConfused I dont know how long is my cycle going to be with clomid (i have irregular periods), but this spotting started early yesterday cd 26 🤷🏼‍♀️
And i feel like something is pulsating and heavy down there, but honestly I dont expect to get BFP. I guess its just wouldnt happen from the first cycle on clomid - no, it will not be that "easy" for us. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Marmite83 · 24/03/2019 21:53

I'm the same with OPKs @Bear88. I'm on cd24 currently and having a few twinges, also feel quite bloated Blush. No idea when I'm due on, last two cycles were 26 and 25 days (shortest they've ever been) so anytime I guess. I'm so convinced I'm not pregnant that I went out on a hen do last night and had quite a few drinks. Was nice to let my hair down, it's been a while!

doomkittycleo · 24/03/2019 22:15

@Eleanor15, ah yeah, from what I’ve read if there are clots it is probably af. Hopefully at very least the clomid is giving you a more normal cycle length.

It would be very lucky to get a bfp on the first cycle of clomid. Just stay positive, it took me 3 goes last time.

@Bear88, I’m doing ok, feeling a bit better now I know my rash isn’t contagious.

The clomid leaflet from my Dr said to BD 5 days before you anticipate ovulation then to abstain until opk turns positive.

Apparently 5 day old sperm is best quality. We managed to BD today (first time since recovering from thrush and getting the PR rash), my sex drive had taken a dive because of this, but I’m trying to think happy thoughts before the opk turns positive.

I’m getting a few early twinges in my ovaries, hoping it’s a good sign.

I hope you manage to BD @Bear, it sucks when there’s something happening to interrupt your plans. I hope your hubby feels ok after being sedated.

How is everyone else getting on?

Bear88 · 24/03/2019 22:25

@Eleanor15 I second what doomkitty said - sadly not happened on first round of Clomid but maybe it will make your cycles more regular! Silver lining and all that!

@Marmite83 I'm glad you went out and let your hair down - you deserve it! Even if it turns out your first cycle worked - it wouldnt affect anything anyway! I'm actually due on on 8th April - day before my birthday - then I have a thigh sleeve tattoo booked. Already paid £100 to book it - how bitter sweet it would be! Hmm

@doomkittycleo it's always the way. I worked out ov dates according to what my leaflet said and it just so happened his sedation date is literally the day bang in the middle when I'm supposed to be more fertile - we have been BD'ing every other day so hopefully it'll still be there if an egg does make an appearance! Grin

I'm so glad were all in this together - even though were all just names on screens to each other - I couldnt go through this without the suppoort you guys already are in such a short time! Thank you for that - and if any of you find yourself in Bristol hit me up Smile

So I had a call from my consultant's office to say that my day 21 progesterone test indicates that I ovulated so fingers crossed. I feel a little like a ticking time bomb, putting off going to the loo in case I see the proof that this is not our cycle. Having said that, I've been getting pretty intense cramps as soon as I come on, especially since my laparoscopy in Jan, so I guess there's no delaying finding out really.

@Bear88, it would suck to lose the deposit but so wonderful at the same time. You can't put things off forever just in case. I put so much off when we were trying for my daughter and it just made me feel more upset about it all. This time round I've just tried to carry on as usual and I'll deal with any plans that need to be changed if a little miracle happens.

I'm also very glad we've all got each other to talk to, it's definitely helping me through this journey. I'm in Hertfordshire so a bit of a trek from Bristol but you never know! Smile

Pinktruffle · 25/03/2019 16:44

Is everyone here been put on Clomid? I've been put on letrozole. I've started today. I know we are all desperate for a positive test but I'm not sure how much more of this mental health can take

Marmite83 · 26/03/2019 07:24

Cd26 here and I haven't poas early the whole time we be been trying but for some reason this morning I thought I would since my last couple of cycles have been 26 and 25 days. Bfn and now I feel like an idiot for testing. Just waiting for AF to rear her ugly head now. Not the best way to start the day! At least I know drinking on Saturday wasn't an issue I guess.

fulanigirl · 26/03/2019 18:22

So I started bleeding today. On to the next cycle.

Bear88 · 26/03/2019 18:53

Hi @Pinktruffle - welcome! Yes everyone on here I believe is currently on Clomid but have read that letrzole is very similar so you are welcome to join us! How are you?

@Marmite83 - it's not over till the fat lady sings and I'm not singing yet. Eventhough your last 3 cycles have been 25/26 days clomid can make a difference in your cycle times. Congrats on the positive ovulation bloods! I have mine on Monday - it would be a very wonderful if the reason I have to cancel my tattoo will be with a baba so we shall see.

Apparently my highest ovulation date - according to my app - would've been yesterday - hubby had his extraction and sedation and he was worried about everything we didnt baby dance. Hope the days running up to it were somewhat enough - that's if I've even ovulated.

@fulanigirl - I'm sorry to read that. Had everything crossed for you. How are you feeling?

Pinktruffle · 26/03/2019 19:01

Thanks @bear88. I'm ok so far, I was worried about mood swings but I've had no issues with those. I have experienced some extreme tiredness though, I'd given up caffeine but think I will have to have something tomorrow to get through work as I'm struggling lot towards the end of the day and as I work in a high school, it's usually the craziest part of the day.

fulanigirl · 26/03/2019 19:02

@Bear88 thank you Smile, I'm not so upset anymore because I knew it was coming for a few days. I do feel completely helpless though. I'm terrified of getting pregnant because I just feel it'll end the same way. I also feel like the doctors are not that concerned , they just tell me to take the next pill. I don't see the point in continuing to get pregnant only to lose it a week later. Surely 3 losses in 4 months is not normal and should be looked into?

Bear88 · 26/03/2019 19:26

@Pinktruffle I've cut down on my caffeine intake but somedays I just really need coffee lol! I found that I was really tired while taking the clomid but the moodswings didn't start until the last day of taking a tablet. Fair shout to you working in a high school! Must be exhausting! What CD day are you? What mg of letrozole are you on?

@fulanigirl I can't believe the doctors arent concerned at all?! That sounds ridiculous to me. Surely there has to be something whic is causing it not to stick and that is something they should look into in my opinion. What was their response when you mentioned it? No-one should feel terrified of getting pregnant and they need to support you with this.

OP posts:
fulanigirl · 26/03/2019 19:32

@Bear88 the response was I need to reduce my Clomid and that was it. I can't even get them to call me back. I have an appointment on the 10th of April and I'm hoping to bring it up again then.

Eleonor15 · 26/03/2019 19:40

Evening all, i had the same negative experience when started clomid with nhs, but my first cycle actually was supposed to be in Dec but was postponed due to holidays (they would not be able to make a scan). So i was waiting for the new cycle to take clomid and it took me 71 day (triggered by provera). They dont care at all if i had periods or not.

I went to the gynecologist separately and because i have low progesteron, my lining is thin and embrio would not stick. So i will be back to taking progesteron all the time for a healthy lining and regulat cycle. But this is outside nhs.

Marmite83 · 26/03/2019 20:35

Welcome @Pinktruffle, hope the drugs are kind to you

I'm so sorry to hear that @fulanigirl. Seems mad that they won't do investigations after 3 in a row. Hopefully you'll get somewhere at your appt.

How are you feeling @Eleonor15?

I've got my fingers crossed for you @Bear88, hope hubby is feeling better today

Bear88 · 26/03/2019 20:46

@fulanigirl I'm wondering if you maybe have the same issue with your lining as @Eleonor15 does? Have they tested progesteron levels for you? I have to agree with @Marmite83 it seems stupid they arent interested and surely it wont matter about the level of clomid your on if it's not even sticking? Hopefully they will be more forthcoming at your next appointment!

@Marmite83 hubby is doing better today, a lot of swelling and soreness and he's currently high on codeine Smile how are you feeling? Any AF pains or anything? I'm going to try and wait - if I'm late this month - to wait a few days after I'm due on with all the hormones racing around our bodies it's bound to not appear on time and then would be a waste of poas!

@Eleonor15 - same question, how are you feeling?

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 26/03/2019 20:51

@bear88 - I'm very careful with the caffeine as I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in late October. I didn't know I was pregnant and went through a lot of self blame, so now I'm extra cautious. I'm on CD3 so I think its pretty safe for me to have a coffee tomorrow!
I'm on 2.5mg of Letrozole. I'm not sure if that's low or high as I was expecting to be put on Clomid so hadn't researched it. I have PCOS but it's under fairly good control and I have ovulated naturally as my miscarriage was a natural conception but because I'm heading towards 36 and my cycles was 40ish days long, my doctor wanted to speed things up a little.

@marmite83 thank you! Been kind so far but I'm only 2 days in, I hope it continues this way!

Eleonor15 · 26/03/2019 20:56

@Marmite83 @Bear88 thank you, i am feeling much better. Had 4 days of terrible headaches last week, like migraine, and then Sat morning was this spotting, which is actually not spotting but discharge. Had it for 2 days (sat-sun) and its gone. I have no idea what it is, and if my periods will come or not, cd 29. But i have cramps inside my V (not stomach pain). Dont know what they are.

My gynecologist (not nhs) saw me yesterday and said all looks good in there and linining is detaching, that means periods will come. And also mentioned it is strange that i am not being monitored for ovulation (if that actually has happened) rather than just scans to see if folicle grows.

Marmite83 · 26/03/2019 21:15

Sounds like you're in a similar position to me @Pinktruffle. I'm almost 36, have PCOS and seem to ovulate naturally. Not sure if the Clomid will help but I figured we'd give it a go before trying IVF. Sorry to hear about your mc, I had one a few years ago at almost 11 weeks and it was heartbreaking.

No sign yet @Bear88 but I'm sure it won't be long. If AF is going to come I wish she would just get on with it so I can stop second guessing everything and just start cycle 2 of Clomid. I have no idea when I'm due on so I'll probably take another test on Thurs/Fri if I still haven't come on. Need to buy some more tests first.
