Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

@Kelly119 bar the thrush and AF the experiences I am describing were 2 years ago. I am just worrying in case it’s the same again this time.

Kelly199 · 20/03/2019 17:26

@Eleonor15 sorry to hear. Sending hugs. Hope you'll ovulate next cycle. Have they mentioned about upping your dosage?
@doomkittycleo sorry, thought you meant recently! You're right to feel that way if you've experienced it before. Hopefully you'll feel a little better soon (even though easier said than done!!). Sending hugs to you too.

Hello,
So I'm TTC my first - been trying for 20months now with no success.
I am ovulating but I have one blocked tube - waiting for a Laparoscopy to check for endo and possibly remove the tube.
Gynae has prescribed me 6 months clomid whilst I wait for the Lap... Just to boost the amount of eggs I ovulate to maybe give me a better chance.
Just finished my first course - had a massive headache all day and the hot flushes at night - other than that not too bad - fingers crossed we succeed this month!

Eleonor15 · 20/03/2019 17:37

@Kelly199 thank a lot for support. I am feeling down right now. It was a private scan, hence only if i start treatment with them they will stimulate ovaries or egg to be released (i know its possible). NHS will not bother. They have 6 cycles for me to do on clomid. Then IVF.
We will discuss with hubby in the evening, i just feel i cant last like this any longer. In May it will be 2 yrs we are ttc. And i find it hard balancing work, plus doing financial exams and ttc all together.

doomkittycleo · 20/03/2019 18:10

@Eleanor15 I’m so sorry to hear that 😞. Did they give any clue as to why something like that would happen?

Stay positive, it took us 2 years with DD and she’s now the most lovely little almost 18 month old little girl we could’ve wished for.

Maybe this month it just wasn’t meant to be. How many cycles did you say you’d been on clomid?

Eleonor15 · 20/03/2019 19:44

@doomkittycleo thank you Bear
What is DD, please?

No, private nurse didn't know why this could happen as i did first three scans with nhs. This is cycle one on clomid for me, 5 more to go with nhs. Or private if we decide so.

doomkittycleo · 20/03/2019 20:30

@Eleanor15 DD is my darling daughter. I conceived my first child on my third round of clomid last time and she is now 18 months old.

It usually takes a few months to work if it’s going to. But unlikely to be more than 4-6.

I’m going with the it worked before it’ll work again mantra!!!

Kelly199 · 20/03/2019 20:55

@Eleonor15 really sorry you're feeling so low. It is a hard process, especially the suspense with everything!
Are you having more monitoring next month?
I know, it is really hard. Sorry you're going through such a shitty time. Hope that something works for you and you'll ovulate and get that bfp!!
Agree with @doomkittycleo , as hard as it is with the way you're feeling, just try to stay positive and hopefully you will have some better news soon!
From what I've read, it does take another cycle to work with some people. Maybe this is the same for you and it'll work the next? (Annoying I know!!) don't loose hope yet, fingers crossed for you for next cycle xx

Eleonor15 · 20/03/2019 21:58

Thank you all for your support! I will try to find smth positive, like at least now we can have a holiday during Easter and fly somewhere near and warm. Because I was not sure I would fly if I got pregnant. Just hoping to get AF and start another cycle of clomid before that.

I dont know yet about the scans, I will definately have on cd 8-9 and I believe they will take it from there. Unless we go private. But every scan costs a lot if done privately (((

doomkittycleo · 20/03/2019 22:24

@Eleanor15 I really wouldn’t bother with the extra scans, it’s a lot of money and as long as you BD a few times around when you expect to ovulate it isn’t likely to change things.

An opk is more than sufficient (especially if your nhs dr is doing scans as well).

I’m not being scanned at all, wasn’t even offered any. Just gonna use opk’s and hope for the best for a few months.

I know it makes you feel better to know what’s going on, but if it’s not the result you are hoping for it can add to the stress and that’s counterproductive.

Try and use your holiday to relax, it may help the clomid to do its job if you’re able to take your mind off things and just enjoy your partner’s company.

Eleonor15 · 20/03/2019 22:47

@doomkittycleo i know, its just the first cycle and opk was misleading. It still shows high but there is no folicle at all. That's the problem. And its not the first time i had such misleading results. I used Boots ones and Clearblue during the first year were were ttc and now as well. Next cycle i will be more chilled, well i hope so. Its just a lot of confusion over everything this time.

Yes, holiday should be nice. Just to let go and enjoy us being together, to reconnect. 🌸

Marmite83 · 21/03/2019 07:15

Sorry to hear the scan didn't have a positive result @Eleonor15. A holiday sounds like a great idea!

How's everyone else getting on? I'm on CD21 so assuming I ovulated, I'm not convinced I did but hopefully the blood test will show I did, then I guess I've got about a week left of the tww. Feels like time is going so slowly at the moment!

doomkittycleo · 21/03/2019 22:35

@Marmite83 I took my third tablet this evening and so far only side effect is a few mild headaches.

Ages off expected ovulation yet, but at least AF is almost gone now.

Better get the razor out in preparation 😉!!!

Does everyone use cheap opk’s or does anyone bother with clear blue etc? Considering using them for a month or two, but it does feel like a waste of money. I’ve used them in the past so I know they are easier to use, just considering if that money worth it.

liamhemsworthsrealwife · 22/03/2019 06:43

So I finished my clomid. Disappeared as I've been feeling absolute rubbish. Being on clomid felt like a massive hangover that never ended. I've had terrible headaches.

Today is cd13 for me and I went for a scan. I have a 27mm follicle. That's the biggest I've ever had. They triggered me, and I went from feeling stoked, to reading about follicle size, and now feeling shit that maybe that was too big? Or a cyst? Does anyone know anything about size? I'm also concerned about a potential cyst and being triggered Sad

doomkittycleo · 22/03/2019 08:00

@liamhemsworthsrealwife I’ve just done a quick google search which said the maximum size in their research study was 28mm. I’m guessing you’re just within the maximum allowance of normal.

Eleonor15 · 22/03/2019 08:13

Hi all, i tead that folicle could reach up to 33mm. I would like a trigger shot, to be honest, never had it, but at least its sure you ovulate. Now i have no idea if i had. So probably a waste of cycle.

I use both boots and clearblue opk. However clearblue is misleading, it shows high (not peak) but the scan shows there is no folicle. And the test does not go back to zero. So i find it really a waste, especially if you do twice a day. I personally will not bother the next cycle for clearblue.

doomkittycleo · 22/03/2019 09:36

@Eleanor15, thanks that’s useful feedback. I’ll probably stick to my cheapies then 👍.

SunnyL88 · 22/03/2019 10:13

@doomkittycleo I’ve just bought the cb digital for this month. Waiting for af to start second round of Clomid- also suffering with high prolactin treated only three days with cabergoline. Not feeling very hopeful but also trying acnipuncture this month too. Anything at this point is worth a try x

Eleonor15 · 22/03/2019 18:49

@SunnyL88 i'm doing acupuncture since december, not sure how it is helping though. It is painful for me and so far nothing changed. Cycle is a mess (previous one lasted 71 day and was triggered by provera) and no ovulation. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Eleonor15 · 23/03/2019 07:35

Hi all, morning news, cd 26 and guess what, spotting 😔 so AF is coming. Will start my cycle 2 on clomid. Have a nice weekend 🌸

fulanigirl · 23/03/2019 09:17

Morning all

I think I'm having another chemical pregnancy. I've had faint lines on first response all week but clear blue digital said not pregnant. I've also started having period cramps. I expect this to be over by tomorrow. Doctor said the results of my 21 day progesterone test was too high and they'll need to reduce my Clomid prescription from 6 days to 3.

liamhemsworthsrealwife · 23/03/2019 11:15

@fulanigirl sorry to hear that. Digitals aren't as sensitive as other tests though.
Can you ask for bloods to confirm?

Thanks @doomkittycleo
I'm hoping it hasn't grown more than a few mm since the trigger.

I'm also doing acupuncture, which I can't say I'm enjoying. I might stop it and go do something more relaxing!

fulanigirl · 23/03/2019 12:44

@liamhemsworthsrealwife they said if I don't start bleeding over the weekend I should call back and we'll go from there

Marmite83 · 23/03/2019 16:42

@Eleonor15, hope it's not AF for you.

So sorry to hear that @fulanigirl x

Eleonor15 · 23/03/2019 18:25

@Marmite83 it is AF( spotting really bad like period one. I am flying this weekend and before leaving home i went to the toilet and saw it. At least all clear now.

What is chemical pregnancy?
