Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

@Jesskir89 glad to help lol. I just hope it’s all worth it. I wish I knew when I was gonna ovulate. So scared I’m gonna miss it.

Explorers10 · 11/06/2019 22:20

@doomkittycleo that’s interesting that they don’t take no notice of BBT. I was kicking myself as forgot to show him my app to show the rise in temperature to show I must be ovulating. Never mind. Just hope the clomid isn’t going to be too strong to then have a cancelled cycle.

Oh no the side effects of clomid sound bad. Really hope the anxiety calms down for you & I reckon just try and dtd when you can without the stress of trying to think when 5 days before positive opk is. That must be really exhausting trying to think when that can be and trying to time it right then stressing about whether you done it the right time. I hate anxiety so much but I also suffer from it a lot.

doomkittycleo · 11/06/2019 22:37

@Explorers10, yeah, don’t feel bad for not showing him, I showed that Dr last time and he just ignored it anyway.

Tbh the side effects haven’t been that bad, a couple of headaches and tiredness (particularly in the morning), but not bad enough to need to take anything for it, I had hot flushes last time, but not noticed any this time, then it’s just the anxiety and mood swings, but again, not that bad, just feel a bit irritable and a lot on my mind (but that comes part and parcel with TTC anyway).

I was on 100mg for my first cycle. Day 5 and 6 I just wanted to stay in bed all day and cry. Cycle 2 I was reduced to 50mg and was absolutely fine. Cycle 3 I'll be on a different drug and hoping it isn't too mean to me!

Pinktruffle · 11/06/2019 23:01

My emotions are a mess on the few days I'm taking the tablets, they really name ne feel very depressed.
I'm easing off on everything this month. I did one OPK which eased negative and decided to forget it, I wanted a less stressful month so I haven't tested again and we've just had sex every few days and tried to keep it fun. We have gone every other day for tbe couple days around when I think I ovulate but it's guess work. Blood test on Thursday so let's see if that says I'm ovulating.

Explorers10 · 12/06/2019 12:39

Thank you for letting me know about the side effects. I feel for you all it’s horrible the anxiety and depression and emotional side. I really hope you get your BFPs soon. I know the feeling of looking at opks as gives back some control into the situation. I think just to try and just dtd every other day as I’ve heard opks can be wrong. We had a mental health nurse come into work and she said to try and control depression just pretend it’s when your sunbathing and a cloud goes over what you do in those minutes I.e go on your phone, go inside, put a blanket on. She said to see it as that rather than a big massive dark depression cloud. So I’ve tried to put this situation into practice and help not get so down such as focusing my mind on other things apart from TTC. Hard I know, easier said than done

doomkittycleo · 12/06/2019 15:34

@Explorers10, I am a mental health nurse (on a career break since DD was born), I know loads of different ways to manage it, but it’s so different putting it into practice.

I did use some guided meditation in the bath the other night when I was feeling really bad and it definitely helped a lot.

I’m feeling cautiously optimistic atm (long may it continue). As I was worried about missing ovulation we DTD last night. Now we’ve got some swimmers in the bank, I feel better about waiting a couple more days to start using the opk’s. I’m CD9 today, hoping to start on CD11.

DP and I are going away in my mum and dad's caravan on Monday, so ovulation might happen whilst we’re away.

Need to get some quiet “don’t wake the baby” BDing in lol.

AmyMaria2 · 12/06/2019 15:36

Welcome! I find it hard to sleep on clomid & am very emotional!
Had a rubbish few days, came on 4 days late so really got my hopes up & came on the morning I was going to test. And today my cousins announced her pregnancy on Facebook, I already knew as she had told some other family members, apparently she didn't want to tell me as she knows what I'm going through, but it wasn't great to find out on Facebook either.
Starting clomid tomorrow eve and see my consultant tomorrow afternoon so hoping she will up my dose before I start. X

Just saw this pop up on my Facebook newsfeed and had to share it. It’s a video of a couples infertility journey and it was so moving.

Let me know if the link works.

Jesskir89 · 13/06/2019 07:08

I've only watched 5 mins and I'm crying getting ready for work lol

Dinosauraddict · 13/06/2019 07:28

Hi All, can I join please? Currently on first cycle of clomid (cd 9). 50mg with extensive monitoring (next scan is tomorrow). Feeling utterly rubbish.

Zara84 · 13/06/2019 09:26

Hi dinosaursddict.. know the feeling. I have actually been signed off this week with a throat infection - the doctor said it may have started due to the stress this month.... I had my second clomid scan on Tuesday and was told to return tomorrow for a third one where I should hopefully be given the green to take my trigger shot ( follicles were too small on Tuesday as my cycles are around 28-30 days)

But definitely feeling low... your not alone!

doomkittycleo · 13/06/2019 11:02

@Zara84 it’s going round, DD had a throat infection a few weeks ago, then she had antibiotics and got better, then I got it just over a week later. It’s rubbish.

Welcome @Dinosauraddict

Marmite83 · 13/06/2019 11:45

@doomkittycleo that had me sobbing. So brave of them to show that to the world. We have our first IVF consultation next Friday and that video give a little bit of insight into the process which is nice.

Currently 13dpo and expecting af to show up every time I go to the loo.

Welcome @Dinosauraddict I hope the Clomid works for you.

doomkittycleo · 13/06/2019 12:00

@Marmite83, it was really nice to watch.

Also had me sobbing, really helps you feel like you’re not alone when you see something like that.

I’m glad it’s been helpful to prepare for your ivf consultation.

I’m CD10 and decided to start opk testing today as I’ve been having a lot of ovulation pains last night, it’s not quite positive yet, but not far off. Glad I tested as it clearly won’t be long.

Explorers10 · 13/06/2019 12:20

@Dinosauraddict & @Zara84

Hope your scans go well tomorrow. Let us know how they go. Hope you both feel better soon

Dinosauraddict · 13/06/2019 18:10

Thank you everyone! And @Zara84 I hope you feel better soon.

Explorers10 · 13/06/2019 18:25

@Dinosauraddict can I ask why you are feeling rubbish? Is it the side effect of the tablets or just generally TTC and seeing what happens with first round of clomid?

Marmite83 · 13/06/2019 18:32

I had a follow up appt with my consultant today and he's upped my dose to 100mg. Been having quite a few twinges today so I think af is on the way, I know it's not over yet but pretty sure it will be soon Sad

Jesskir89 · 13/06/2019 18:42

Can I please ask what everyone's scans are for as ive not had scans just blood tests since of chlomid so I'm confused lol

Dinosauraddict · 13/06/2019 18:45

@Explorers10 - for me it's the tablets. I've had some quite annoying side effects - headaches, nausea etc on first 6 days, and now really anxious (never had anxiety or anything, and never known anything like this).

Dinosauraddict · 13/06/2019 18:46

@Jesskir89 - are you NHS? A lot of areas don't offer monitoring throughout the cycle. I've gone private so the scans are regular (from the day 2 baseline scan) to ensure the follicles are growing, to be able to give a stimulation injection at the right time to increase chances, and to also reduce the risk of multiples.

Explorers10 · 13/06/2019 19:27

@Dinosauraddict really sorry to hear about all the side effects, im due to start the clomid next week if my AF doesn’t come and I’m going abroad on holiday! Wonder if I should start the next cycle.

That’s interesting you are being scanned. How many scans do you have? Is it quite expensive doing it privately?

I’m on nhs and they said i need to book in a scan between day 10 & 14 of cycle to check if dose is right and if there are any follicles and too many follicles. Says likely 1 scan to determine this then next 5 months with no scans

doomkittycleo · 13/06/2019 19:33

@Explorers10, I don’t get any scans or blood tests at all and am on nhs.

If it gets to ivf we’ll have to go private as we have DD, but hoping the clomid works as it’s worked before. This is my first month on 100mg, so fingers crossed 🤞.

Explorers10 · 13/06/2019 20:02

@doomkittycleo

How did you get your dosage increased? Did you have to back for an appointment? Really hope the 100mg works for you so you won't have to do ivf, got my fingers crossed for you. How many cycles on clomid have you done?

Do you think you would go for ivf? I've also got a DD, the thought of ivf scares me plus the cost if it doesn't work
