Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Thank you @seven201 and @smoochie85 that's great to hear!

AmyMaria2 · 09/06/2019 20:37

How's everyone feeling? I'm currently two days late so trying not to get my hopes up or test yet!
Xx

doomkittycleo · 09/06/2019 21:07

@AmyMaria2 you’re 2 days late and haven’t tested yet?

I have just taken my last clomid pill for this round at higher dose, so gotta start opk testing again in a few days.

Was feeling more optimistic, but now I’m feeling a bit meh. Will this ever work?

AmyMaria2 · 09/06/2019 21:45

@doomkittycleo yes! I can be 2/3 days late so don't want to test until at least 4 days!

Good luck with this round of clomid! Do you already have a DC? If so was he/she conceived with clomid? X

doomkittycleo · 09/06/2019 21:58

@AmyMaria2, yes my DD is 20 months old and was conceived on my third round of clomid, when the dose was increased from 50mg-100mg.

I’m on 100mg this month which is why I was feeling optimistic, but DP and I had an argument this morning, so that’s probably why I’m feeling a bit down.

AmyMaria2 · 10/06/2019 01:38

Ah @doomkittycleo don't let the argument change your optimism! If you conceived DD on 3rd round on same dosage then you need to be thinking so positive! Me and my DH have had more arguments than ever before since the whole pressure of clomid and ttc, you just have to think all the arguments and stress will be so worth it in the end x

doomkittycleo · 10/06/2019 09:43

@AmyMaria2, I know it does put a lot of pressure on your relationship going through all this. I wouldn’t mind, but the argument was over whether or not to get DD’s first haircut.

I said weeks ago that we should get a trim, but he wanted to wait for it to grow a bit, then yesterday he said I think she needs a trim and I was all “well you didn’t think we should do it when I suggested it.”

Grrr, then he had the cheek to get upset with me for saying anything about it.

Men 🙄.

Marmite83 · 10/06/2019 14:51

I still haven't cut my DD's hair @doomkittycleo and she turns three in a couple of weeks! I keep putting it off because I think it will be the last I see of her gorgeous baby curls Sad.

I think all the ttc anxiety makes us all a little irritable doesn't it (including the men), I've had some ridiculous arguments with my DH recently.

I'm currently 10 dpo and the symptom spotting has definitely started. Decided I won't let myself test until Sat but have spent the morning thinking up excuses for why I could test earlier Grin. Hoping I stay strong and wait until Sat.

Good luck @AmyMaria2, hope af stays away for you and you get a lovely bfp. When are you planning to test?

Jesskir89 · 10/06/2019 16:44

TTC is tough on every relationship more so for us when I'm taking chlomid for the 5 days I'm so hormonal. Fancy giving you psycho pills that you have to take while on your period! Like that's not bad enough lol. And @AmyMaria2 good luck! I would have done a test after 1 day haha

seven201 · 10/06/2019 20:09

@AmyMaria2 fingers crossed for you!

I haven't taken my very nearly 3 year old to the hairdresser yet either. I have given her two very dodgy trims myself though. My husband is currently in a grump as my daughter got a bit of wee on her legs and he had to pick her up Hmm.

I've just got back from my dildo cam tracking scan. On the lower dose I'm producing one egg from each side, but the clomid is making my lining too thin (3-4mm instead of 8) so it probably wouldn't be able to implant anyway! So he's switching me to tamoxifen instead of clomid as that shouldn't thin my lining. Going to have a scan next cycle to check. I don't know how I feel about it. I guess I'm annoyed that there's yet another obstacle to overcome, but at least it's something that can probably be solved. I still don't know when my op to unblock my tube will be. Seems a bit silly to be trying with a chance of an ectopic, but there's also a chance of it going through the correct tube so we're going to keep trying anyway.

He gave me a list of supplements to try. Can I still stay in this group even though I'm moving to tamoxifen instead?

Marmite83 · 10/06/2019 21:37

What supplements did he suggest @seven201? I'm sure no one will mind you staying on the thread. It's essentially support for people taking fertility drugs, doesn't really matter which ones. Hope the tamoxifen works better for you

seven201 · 10/06/2019 21:40

Thanks @Marmite83

Stay in and let us know how you get on :)

Explorers10 · 10/06/2019 22:08

Hi all, please can I join the thread. I’m TTC number 2 and just been prescribed clomid. I had no issues conceiving my DD who will be 3 in July so not sure what’s going on. The consultant says I have pcos and likely I’m not ovulating even though my scan was normal and no polycystic ovaries plus my periods are fairly regular between 28 to 35 days long. Just have high androgens in blood results. Those who are conceiving number 2 did you have any issues conceiving 1st time round?

seven201 · 10/06/2019 22:10

Welcome @Explorers10

It took 9 months for us to conceive dd. No idea if I had any problems then or not. My cycles are less regular now though, but they've never been very predictable.

Explorers10 · 10/06/2019 22:15

@seven201

Thank you for quick reply, that’s helpful to know that you conceived naturally first time. It has just come as a shock as never knew I would have issues 2nd time round. The consultant said I probably had pcos the 1st time round and not known about it. Hope you get your BFP soon. Hope clomid is not too bad, bit scared if I don’t get on with it

Marmite83 · 10/06/2019 22:48

Welcome @Explorers10. My DD will be three at the end of the month. It took 18 months to conceive her and I had a miscarriage first. She was conceived naturally though. I have endometriosis and PCOS, my periods are also fairly regular. I hope the Clomid works for you

Jesskir89 · 11/06/2019 10:10

I had a late miscarriage when I was 20 and no issues conceiving then but unfortunately our bodies change. I also have pcso you may just have the normal type

Marmite83 · 11/06/2019 11:33

Thanks for the supplements info @seven201, I've been meaning to start taking omega 3 for a while!

Explorers10 · 11/06/2019 12:26

@marmite83 thank you for the welcome. It’s helpful to know that there are other people in the same position with TTC number 2. Plus sounds like we had our DD around the same time in 2016. Really hope you get your BFP soon.

@Jesskir89 you are right our bodies change, I think that’s what I’m struggling with trying to accept. I conceived first cycle with DD when I was nearly 31, now 34 so things must have changed with me being older.

doomkittycleo · 11/06/2019 15:10

@Explorers10, Welcome, I’m TTC DC2 as well, DD is 20 months and was conceived on third round of clomid. I don’t have a diagnosis of PCOS, but was told I wasn’t ovulating on my own.

We never used contraception after DD was born but I breastfed for a year, my period came back at 5 months when I was still exclusively breastfeeding.

We’ve been TTC DC2 ever since.

I’ve always had regular cycles, positive opk’s and BBT rises that match up with opk’s but was still told that I didn’t ovulate. I’m thinking maybe what they really mean is I don’t have a good quality ovulation.

Anyway I’m on CD8 of cycle 4 of clomid this time round and my dose has just increased from 50mg to 100mg this round.

I’m just weighing up when to start opk testing as last cycle only lasted 20 days, previous one I got a positive opk CD12 and previous one was CD16. I am not monitored by my Dr, so no idea if I’m actually ovulating or not.

Zara84 · 11/06/2019 17:55

Hi ladies -

I started my first round of Clomid last week- I had a baseline scan on day2 of my cycle, and another scan a week later (today) - however have been told that I will need to go back for another scan on Friday - as the follicles were not big enough yet.

I have been told to start using opks and let the clinic know if I get a positive opk.

Just feeling really stressed.... I was hoping today’s scan would be the green light to start trying and then get onto the 2 week wait. Now I am self doubting on whether this will even work? Has anyone been in a similar position? Ie: had 2nd scan to be told you would need a 3rd - did you get your bfp?

Explorers10 · 11/06/2019 18:14

@doomkittycleo thank you for the welcome. That’s interesting you have been told you don’t ovulate. I also track my temp and use the clearblue opk. They opk say I ovulate and also my temperature rises but both times I done the blood test on day 21 it shows no ovulation but both times my period was late and came day 35 instead of day 28 so I’m convinced I ovulate but really late on days 22 to 24. The consultant said as my periods cycle length are getting slightly longer is a further sign of pcos. Good luck on 4th cycle of clomid. Really hope it works for you again.

This thread is really nice, everyone so welcoming thank you for your support Smile

doomkittycleo · 11/06/2019 20:21

@Explorers10, yeah it is interesting, the Dr I saw when TTC DD said they don’t take any notice of BBT charts (I guess they mustn’t be as reliable as we think).

I’m getting a lot more anxiety on the higher dose, and getting irritated at DP, so much more than usual.

Not sure when to start BDing as the abstaining for 5 days before opk was making me stressed in case I missed it.

We have just said we’ll do it whenever we feel like this month so the pressures off, but as DP is annoying me so much, I’m not sure when I’m gonna “feel like it” any time in the immediate future.

Jesskir89 · 11/06/2019 21:29

I'm so glad you said that. Since I've gone on 100 I'm an emotional wreck. One minute I'm angry then crying for no reason. My husband just asked if I'm on my loopy tablets again next week!
