Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

Ditto for ubiquinol, and a water and fat-soluble form absorbs better.

doomkittycleo · 05/06/2019 20:12

@Seven201, I have heard that too, but based on my 20 day cycle it doesn’t help.

I guess you’ll just have to wait for the scan.

seven201 · 05/06/2019 20:16

Thanks @doomkittycleo . My googling has finally paid off and agreed with you and reassured me that I'm not dreaming random things about clomid!

AmyMaria2 · 05/06/2019 21:25

@seven201 in one of my internal exams (scan) before clomid, they told me they could tell I had ovulated & last weeks scan told me measurements of my follicles so still worth going x

seven201 · 05/06/2019 21:38

Thanks @AmyMaria2 I know you may not know this but, do you think that means he'll be able to see how many eggs I did ovulate (If scan is after ovulation instead of before)?

I read online earlier today that clomid should only be taken for 12 months max in a lifetime. I'm now thinking I should have saved starting clomid until after I've had my Fallopian tube unblocked (hopefully in 2 or 3 months time). I'm definitely in an overthinking everything mood tonight!

AmyMaria2 · 05/06/2019 22:26

@seven201 I'm not sure completely, they told me how many follicles I had and measurements but they were still in ovaries then obviously so I'm not 100% sure about scan after ovulation.
And yes unfortunately that is definitely true about the 12 months clomid in a life time, that sounds like a good idea to wait until your tubes unblocked but I know how hard that would be when you've already started the journey! And maybe your consultant would advise you to wait if it really was the right thing x

seven201 · 06/06/2019 08:18

Thank you @AmyMaria2

bookworm18 · 06/06/2019 10:44

Thanks @doomkittycleo! Good to know it's normal. Not going to complain about a lighter AF. Just makes knowing when to start the meds tricky Confused I started last night and assuming I'm CD3 today.

bookworm18 · 06/06/2019 12:14

Now I'm wondering if I started too early as today is much heavier Hmm

Jesskir89 · 06/06/2019 14:27

Sorry girls just catching up. They increased mine to 100mg when my bloods for the first 2 months were lower than 30 x

doomkittycleo · 06/06/2019 15:02

@Bookworm18, I wouldn’t worry yourself, mine went lighter yesterday and has gone heavier again today.

You’ve started now, so there’s no going back.

Anyway if it’s gone heavier at least it confirms that it was definately af and not heavy spotting.

I’m feeling so much better now I know where I stand, I’m temping this month too (only started on CD8 last cycle, so wasn’t sure what I missed) so should make things clearer with the opk’s.

Side effects aren’t too different yet, although I did wake up feeling like I had a hangover, it subsided by the time I’d had breakfast.

bookworm18 · 06/06/2019 15:30

That's the exact thought process I had @doomkittycleo ..well I've started them now so nothing I can do! It was definitely coming so wasn't worried about that but curious what's the reason for starting on day 2 rather than day 1?

doomkittycleo · 06/06/2019 15:36

@Bookworm18, my guess is that, so you can be certain that it’s definitely af as it’s usually pretty established by day 2.

It may also be to do with the natural hormone levels and what’s been proven to work best, but I doubt it’ll make much difference.

bookworm18 · 06/06/2019 15:50

Great thank you @doomkittycleo nothing to panic about then if I have got it wrong! Smile

seven201 · 06/06/2019 17:52

I am feeling massively pissed off. My nhs consultation to get the ball rolling for my laparoscopy was due to happen on 17th June at hospital B (a good one). Ironically my other nhs appt at a different hospital (A, that has been quite shit, hence why I went private then got referred back through nhs) was on the 16th June so I cancelled that one. Just got a letter saying I have an appointment at hospital b on 23rd July. I rang up to ask why I had two appts to be told the first one has been cancelled. Why why why does it always have to be a massive headache to get an appointment and then it's cancelled with no explanation. I am so fucked off with ttc and all the sodding waiting and stress of trying to get appointments. End of rant that probably makes no sense.

AmyMaria2 · 06/06/2019 18:05

@seven201 it does make sense, the whole process is a headache, getting so fed up! Went for my day 22 bloods today & they couldn't find a vein, and said they were only aloud to try two times each, so missed that now as well, seeing my consultant on the 13th and she isn't really going to have any results to look at other than my tracking scan, so thinking she won't up my clomid dose either, it's all so frustrating x

seven201 · 06/06/2019 18:38

@AmyMaria2 that is massively shit! You should have produced a knife from your bag and sliced your arm open and dropped it into the vial! You never know, the consultant may have enough to go on to increase dose. Fingers crossed for you.

Jesskir89 · 06/06/2019 20:29

Sorry you're both having a nightmare. The whole process were going through is stressful enough without added extras! I'm struggling with my weight still. Need to lose another 34lb by end of August and 2 holidays before then. I've booked a personal trainer and eating healthy but it's sooo slow!

seven201 · 06/06/2019 20:56

@Jesskir89 you have my sympathy. I am just rubbish at staying motivated. I'm only aiming to lose half a stone (as first goal) but I am just so rubbish. I'm a comfort eater and I just love chocolate. My sister when ttc used to always think 'biscuit or baby?' Which worked for her. Hasn't worked for me. Good luck with it.

Jesskir89 · 07/06/2019 10:11

Thanks @seven201 most weeks I'm ok but it's so hard. I can't be referred for ivf if I don't do it so really pushing myself and lost over a stone so far x

Smoochie85 · 07/06/2019 10:19

As hard as it is try to keep positive, we were trying for baby #2 for 27months - it was hell! I didn’t get pregnant in all that time and honestly thought we would end up having ivf. I hated having Sex by the end of it and didn’t think we would ever get pregnant. We now have a beautiful 6month old baby boy after round 4 of Clomid♥️ I was using the OPKs, doing the deed every other day and also using preseed lubricant. Stay strong and good luck x

Marmite83 · 07/06/2019 11:53

Thanks @Smoochie85, it's always nice to hear a positive story. Congratulations on your baby boy!

Pinktruffle · 07/06/2019 14:19

@smoochie85 it's great to hear a positive story, we don't hear many of them it feels. Congratulations on your little boy

Smoochie85 · 07/06/2019 15:23

Don’t lose hope I know it’s hard it nearly sent me mad TTC, pregnant women where ever you turn, all the announcements on Facebook - until you have been in our situation you never know how hard it really is. I’m sending you all positive thoughts and hope you all get your BFP very soon! If anyone is having nasty symptoms with the clomid I was advised to take them after tea time so you are sleeping when the symptoms kick in. Good luck lovelies x♥️

seven201 · 07/06/2019 16:10

@Jesskir89 that's an excellent dent into your weight loss. You can do it 💪🏽

@Smoochie85 congratulations on your baby Smile. Always good to hear a success story!
