Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

Hi

I’m starting clomid in the coming weeks hoping it will be successful! Not ovulating due to PCOS

Any tips ?
What cycle did you get pregnant on ?

bookworm18 · 30/05/2019 23:33

@AmyMaria2 my consultant said they like them to be between 18-22mm so you're not too far off! Mine was at least 25mm this cycle (ultrasound was 2 days prior to ovulation) which she was worried was too big to be released but the blood test showed I did ovulate.

Marmite83 · 31/05/2019 12:18

Solid smiley for me this morning Smile. A good thing really as it was my last test stick. I've ordered more but they haven't arrived yet! I felt some ovulation pains yesterday evening and we dtd last night after 3 days not dtd so hopefully that was good timing. It's our anniversary today so out for a meal tonight and then hopefully dtd again. Fingers crossed!

Jesskir89 · 31/05/2019 12:26

Happy anniversary! Samantha92 be aware of the side effects lol a lot of the women take them in the evening so you sleep through them. Are they monitoring you via blood tests? Good luck!

AmyMaria2 · 31/05/2019 12:43

@bookworm18 thank you, not to far off with the 15mm one then, I'm having a blood test next Thursday to see if I would have ovulated, I usually do, so hopefully it maybe grows a little, been really concentrating on doing things by the book this month so fingers crossed xx

@Samatha92 good luck with your clomid, how long have you been ttc? I don't get many side affects other than I feel like I can't sleep very well, planning on taking my 3rd cycle in the mornings so hopefully I can sleep better by night time. Xx

Iamhopeful100 · 31/05/2019 12:58

Hi everyone
My first time on Mumsnet ☺️
I'm 37. TTC. All tests came back normal. Got small fibroids they think it won't affect. I'm about to go on clomid today 2nd day if my period.
Worried about the side affects. Fingers crossed.

Hi

I’ve bee TTC#2 actively fo 2 years. Doctor wouldn’t refer me for help as I had already had a child. Switched doctors and they reffed me just waiting on test coming back then I can start 1st round in a couple of weeks. I had my DC at 15 after a complex pregnancy I had to have test done it was found that I had PCOS. 11 years on getting pregnant has been difficult. I did get pregnant 9 years ago ended MC. It’s just so frustrating that my teenage self got pregnant twice. Now an adult with a career and house and it just isn’t happening 😢. I’m forever thankful to have my LO. He’s having a hard time being an only child which makes it even harder. I have 6 siblings so he sees us leaning on each other. He said when he’s older he’s going to have nobody which is breaking my heart. He obviously doesn’t know that we are having issues.

Iamhopeful100 · 31/05/2019 13:05

Oh another quick question. I noticed many of you have taken clomid at night. Is that night 1 of the period or night 2? When do you start?

Marmite83 · 31/05/2019 13:15

Welcome @Iamhopeful100, try not to worry too much about the side effects. Everyone experiences them differently. I only notice them for the first couple of days and it's mainly just a dehydration type headache and a few twinges. Night 2 is when I've started taking mine.

The sibling thing is the thing that gets me most @Samantha92, I so desperately want my dd to have a sibling. Hopefully we'll both get there eventually.

Kelly199 · 31/05/2019 13:58

Hi ladies, sorry to jump in. Just wanted some advice and to know if anyone has experienced weird cm/longer af on clomid?
I took a hpt before starting cycle 3 of clomid on day 2 and it was negative so obviously started the clomid (will be my last/5th tablet tonight), but my af/cm has been really strange...I had a couple of days of red bleeding with brown, then ever since, I've had this weird creamy pink discharge every time I wipe, but it's quite a lot. Sorry tmi. It's now CD6 and last 3/4 days have included this weird cm and I usually have 3 days of bleeding then one day of very light brownish and that's it.

Samatha92 · 31/05/2019 14:17

@Marmite83 I definitely feel heartbroken for DC. He said the other day please mummy have a baby. I don’t care if you have boy or girl. They will be my friend. He doesn’t really have any friend he had HF autism so finds it hard to make friends. It broke my heart. I always try to avoid conversation with him about babies but doesn’t help when my friends are having them and siblings. He always brings it up after meeting their new bundles of joy.

Iamhopeful100 · 31/05/2019 14:37

@Marmite83 thanks so much for getting back so quickly. I was thinking my mesg will be lost amongst all the convo. Thanks so much 🤗
Will take it tonight.
What day did you go for a scan to check the ovulation? Do you remember? Thanks x

Constance1234 · 31/05/2019 14:38

@Iamhopeful100 I had the same question and was advised to start on the night of day 2. I didn’t get any side effects apart from a couple of hot flushes during the day, so I think taking it at night does make you sleep through the side effects. Good luck!

AmyMaria2 · 31/05/2019 15:29

Hi everyone,
Does anyone take metformin? As well as clomid? I've heard a lot about it and I've only ever known diabetics to take it, what is the benefit regarding metformin and fertility? Thanks x

Jesskir89 · 31/05/2019 16:14

Hi Amymaria yes I take metformin daily 3 tablets for my pcos. It turns my stomach. Side effects of chlomid for me is definitely psychosis! Usually around day 3 of taking it! I had a full on melt down last Saturday and cleaned for 3 hours to try and take my mind off it

Marmite83 · 31/05/2019 19:07

I didn't have any scans @Iamhopeful100, just the 21 day blood test.

I don't have any experience with metformin I'm afraid @AmyMaria2

@Kelly199 my AF has been shorter on Clomid. Two heavy days followed by a few days of barely bleeding at all, compared to 3-4 heavyish days normally.

Samatha92 · 31/05/2019 20:32

@AmyMaria2 I took metformin 1500mg per day for my PCOS. I lost 47lbs on it . Stopped taken it and put it back on. It helped me have cycles. I’m away to get put on it again along with clomid. I’ve been advised to take it until 12 weeks if I conceive to reduce risk of miscarriage. Hope this helps.

Kelly199 · 31/05/2019 21:20

@Marmite83 thank you xx

AmyMaria2 · 31/05/2019 21:55

Thanks @Samatha92 I was going to mention metformin to my consultant when I see her on the 13th june. But I'm sure she would have put me on it if she thought necessary.
Sorry another quick question what are people's opinions on acupuncture to help fertility? My friend keeps suggesting it too me but not sure if it will be worth it or not..

Bear88 · 31/05/2019 22:18

Hi all

Good to see some BFP's have happened in this thread! Hoping that we are soon as well!! Statistically thinking lol!

Coming to the end of my 3rd month on 100mg clomid - another positive blood test for ovulation at 33 and currently on CD26 - due in 2 days!

For some reason I had zero notifications for this thread so assumed was no messages. Just read through 10 pages and will be checking it every day now! Sorry guys!

Hello to all newbies on the thread - I'm glad I was able to create a safe place for us all to be. Doctor has given me 3 more months of 100mg clomid if I'm not already pregnant 🤞 then straight for IVF referral. Still got approx 30lb to lose for it so it gives me time until September and I've currently lost 17lb! Slowly but surely I will be a mum 🤞

Ugh guys I’m so confused. I’m on CD18 and still had no positive opk. Last cycle was extremely light (mainly spotting) and now after BDing last night I now have some light pink CM/Semen as if I’m spotting again.

I don’t know what to think? I’ve also done a pregnancy test just in case as last cycles af was so light, but that was BFN.

I’m not monitored and not due to see anyone until September, plus the gynaecology outpatients department doesn’t open on weekends, so it’s not like I can even call anyone.

Iamhopeful100 · 01/06/2019 09:32

@constance1234
Thanks so much 🤗
Took my first dose of clomid last night ☺️ x

Iamhopeful100 · 01/06/2019 09:34

Hi all what is cd18, cd26? They keep coming up in your mesgs. No idea 😁

doomkittycleo · 01/06/2019 09:37

@Iamhopeful100 it means Cycle Day 18.

Bear88 · 01/06/2019 11:05

@doomkittycleo really sorry to read this! Is there a chance that you maybe missed it on the OPKS? I'm not really going to be very helpful in regards of them as I've never had a positive one and then eventually stopped doing them. Have you BD'd recently as well? I know it's easier said then done but you may have to try not to read too much into it. It could just be your body driving your nuts Sad wish I could be more helpful
