Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

@BelleSausage my tip is to take it before bed so you sleep though any side effects. Good luck!

doomkittycleo · 16/05/2019 14:48

I’ve just ordered inofolic and also bought some raspberry leaf tea. I start round 3 this evening, so need to stay positive.

Chuktuk009 · 16/05/2019 14:58

Good luck @doomkittycleo and everyone else.
So we had a very clear positive test today, still in shock. 🤞 It's sticky
Cycle 2 on 50mg- I hope this gives you all hope xxxx

Constance1234 · 16/05/2019 15:16

@Chuktuk009 congratulations!
I got a BFP this morning too. Absolute terrified of another miscarriage though (I had one last July). I’ve just been prescribed cyclogest to take for the first trimester. Finger crossed for us both! x

fulanigirl · 16/05/2019 15:29

Congratulations @Constance1234 @Chuktuk009! Amazing news xxx

seven201 · 16/05/2019 16:03

Congratulations @Constance1234 and @ @Chuktuk009 ! You must be so happy 🎉

@doomkittycleo I might copy you and get some inofolic. Where did you get it from? There are loads on amazon so it's quite overwhelming!

Marmite83 · 16/05/2019 16:30

Congratulations @Constance1234 @Chuktuk009! About time we had some bfps. Hopefully there'll be lots more to come!

@seven201 the Inofolic I use, recommended by my consultant is the one that says 'Inofolic for life' and the 'f' in Inofolic looks like a giant tick. Hope that helps

doomkittycleo · 16/05/2019 16:33

@Chuktuk009 and @Constance1234 Hurray!!! Finally the positive news this thread needs.

I was starting to think we were just very unlucky as statistically we should have had at least a couple of BFP’s by now.

Let’s hope it’s a sign for the rest of us 😊

@Seven201 I just got this one www.drfertility.co.uk/products/inofolic-for-women-with-pcos got too confused with amazon as there were so many.

Pinktruffle · 16/05/2019 16:34

I get my infolic from Amazon. I get Viridian branded one.

Congratulations @constance1234 and @chuktuk009, it's good finally here some positive stories. @Constance1234 what's Cyclogest? If I ever by some miracle manage to get pregnant, I'm terrified I will miscarry again, I've not heard if Cycolgest

Pinktruffle · 16/05/2019 16:35

*heard of

seven201 · 16/05/2019 17:09

Thank you @Pinktruffle and @doomkittycleo I'll look those up.

I'd like to know about the cyclogest too as I've also had a miscarriage before

AmyMaria2 · 16/05/2019 17:14

Hi everyone,

Just joined mumsnet and it looks really helpful . I have been ttc for 2 years now & have just came on my period today after one month of clomid, I'm going to start taking them again tomorrow, I have pcos however I am confused about the clomid as tests I have had have shown that I do ovulate without clomid, does anyone know what help the clomid will actually give me?
Thanks!!

seven201 · 16/05/2019 17:57

@AmyMaria2 I'm in a similar boat in that I do ovulate at least sometimes. If you have long cycles it should in theory make them shorter. I think more follicles are stimulated so you can produce more eggs, so a higher chance of one being fertilised, hence the warning about multiples. I think it's somehow meant to help with egg quality. I'm definitely no expert though! My consultant was very much "well it's not going to do any harm is it?" When I asked if he'd prescribe me some.

Jesskir89 · 16/05/2019 18:05

Congratulations both! Great news :) if anyone has info on cyclogest I would also appreciate it as ive had a miscarriage prior at 4 months so will do anything that will help.

Hi amymaria2, I also have pcos but were ovulating until I went on 100mg. Chlomid helps to release more eggs so they might have given it you to give you an extra push. Good luck!

Pinktruffle · 16/05/2019 18:11

I'm feeling really emotional today. I got home from work and I've done nothing but cry this evening. I think its cos the signs of AF are showing again. I just feel like a big fat massive failure. I feel like I'm going to be childless my whole life and I'm not sure I can cope with that. I feel like I am trying everything, spending a fortune on vitamins and tablets and powders and acupuncture and all to no avail and everyone around me seems to pop kids out like a sneeze and they and their babies are just EVERYWHERE

Constance1234 · 16/05/2019 18:46

Thank you for you good wishes everyone, very lovely of you. I’m just going to take one day at a time as I know a positive pregnancy test does not necessarily end with a baby.

@Pinktruffle Sorry you are feeling so crap. I think we can all relate to those feelings. It’s such a rollercoaster. In terms of the Cyclogest, it is a progesterone pessary. My consultant prescribes it to all his patients that have previously had a miscarriage. It is supposed to support early pregnancy until the placenta can over. He said it won’t prolong a chromosomally abnormal pregnancy, but will help the around 20% of women who don’t produce enough progesterone to support a pregnancy. As far as I can tell it’s more of a precaution than anything. He also has me taking high strength folic acid (5mg) and baby aspirin. I hope your evening gets better xx

seven201 · 16/05/2019 18:53

Sorry @Pinktruffle . Sometimes I think we just need to be really miserable so we can pick ourselves up again. I know exactly what you mean about there being pregnant people EVERYWHERE!

@Constance1234 thanks for the info.

doomkittycleo · 16/05/2019 18:56

Help everyone, I’m due to start clomid again this evening, but af has almost come to a stop. It was light yesterday and now is just light spotting.

Do I start my clomid again or not? I’ve done a test and it’s -ve.

Constance1234 · 16/05/2019 19:35

@doomkittycleo how many dpo are you - could it be implantation bleeding if it is so light? If so you wouldn’t get a positive pregnancy test for a few more days. That’s a tricky one as you don’t want to miss your Clomid window if it was your period..

doomkittycleo · 16/05/2019 19:36

@Constance1234 I’m 16dpo

Chuktuk009 · 16/05/2019 20:23

@Constance1234 congratulations, I've also had a mc (although never had a + ve test) so also trying not to get over excited

Thank you all for the well wishes, I was reluctant to post as I know how it can feel when people fall pregnant all around you while you are TtC but I also know how it feels not sleeping and sweating like a pig on clomid wondering if it even works! Xxx

seven201 · 16/05/2019 20:39

@doomkittycleo I'm having a google for you

There's this old thread. Not read the responses but it sounds relevant. Will keep looking
Clomid period very light - shall I start 2nd cycle? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/1920731-Clomid-period-very-light-shall-I-start-2nd-cycle

seven201 · 16/05/2019 20:43

https://community.babycenter.com/post/a28687003/lighterperioddwithclomid

Someone saying their periods got a lot lighter and doctor saying to take as normal.

seven201 · 16/05/2019 20:57

I think you probably start it again. If you wanted to give it an extra day do you can do a pregnancy test in the morning then that probably is ok. A lot of the stuff online mentions starting clomid on day 3, but I think that could just be older advice. Gah I don't know! So hard when things Like this happen. Maybe don't overthink it and just carry on as planned?

Constance1234 · 16/05/2019 21:07

@doomkittycleo 16dpo sounds too late for implantation, so maybe like seven201 suggests do another pregnancy test in the morning just to be sure and start the Clomid tomorrow? x
