Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

@Pinktruffle we’re birthday twins, it’s my birthday today too.

Got a bfn this morning so going out for Dinner with DP now I’m finally over my fever.

Ive reached the grand old age of 32.

Constance1234 · 14/05/2019 20:05

Pinktruffle and doomkittycleo Happy birthday to you both!

Has anyone had a longer than usual cycle on Clomid? I’m on cd30 when I usually have 27-28 days cycles.

Marmite83 · 14/05/2019 20:16

Happy birthday @doomkittycleo, enjoy your dinner, glad you're feeling better.

@Constance1234 my cycle was a couple of days longer on Clomid. My consultant told me it's fairly common.

seven201 · 14/05/2019 20:52

Happy birthday @doomkittycleo

Pinktruffle · 14/05/2019 22:00

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and happy birthday @doomkittycleo. Sadly, I'm 36 so my fertility window is quickly closing. You have lots of time left though, you can get there! @seven201, I did have a bit of chocolate though

@marmite83 yeah I had the same battle with my husband. He ended up buying me a pair of shoes I said I liked a while ago. I didnt want to do anything today but he made me go out for dinner which was nice to be fair. He was under strict instructions for no cake though and I'm glad he took to it

Pinktruffle · 14/05/2019 22:01

That comment for @seven201 was meant to be at the end, not sure how it ended up on the middle 🙈

seven201 · 14/05/2019 22:25

I'm approaching 37 Sad. I'm glad you went out for dinner and had a bit of chocolate

Marmite83 · 14/05/2019 23:04

I'm turning 36 next month @Pinktruffle. We're planning to start IVF soon as we set me turning 36 as the deadline. No guarantee it'll work and it definitely isn't cheap but I think I'll always wonder if we don't at least try. Glad your husband took you out!

doomkittycleo · 14/05/2019 23:08

@Pinktruffle you say I have loads of time left, but I have a family history of early menopause. My grandmother had finished it by age 35, so it’s perhaps not that great.

@Pinktruffle I’m glad you enjoyed your dinner. DP said he’ll take me shopping when I’m feeling more up to it.

Everyone has just given me money as I couldn’t give any suggestions. I didn’t really feel much like celebrations atm. Hopefully I’ll have something to look forward to soon.

Hi ladies,
Just joined mum's net and found this thread. I'm currently on month 3 of chlomid and my dosage has been increased to 100mg due to me still not ovulating. I've been told if I've not conceived by September I'm being referee for ivf. Is anyone else at a similar stage? Also any success stories?

Thanks Jess x

doomkittycleo · 15/05/2019 04:16

Hi guys, af is due today and I’ve just started spotting so I guess that’s me out.

There’s me moving to month 3. @Jesskir89 my follow up is in September, so I’m guessing they’ll start talking about more complex interventions if nothing happens by then, but my Dr hasn’t said to increase my dose even though I conceived DD on 100mg last time.

I phoned to ask if I can increase the dose for this cycle, but he’s away on leave and as af has now arrived I will be starting my next round of pills tomorrow.

It’s tempting to increase it myself as I have 3 months worth left, but I know it’s not a good idea without checking with the Dr first. 😞

Jesskir89 · 15/05/2019 08:30

It's so frustrating isn't it. My consultant was on holiday so I wasted 2 months on 50mg as he wasn't there to read the blood tests. I get my results back from my 3rd today and if I'm still not he's increasing me to 150mg. Have you been having blood tests?

seven201 · 15/05/2019 09:44

It's such pot luck with doctors! I saw an nhs doctor in January who referred me for a HyCoSy scan to check my tubes, but they didn't have a doctor who could do them so I ended up going private for that. Then when I told the doctors secretary the scan showed a blockage she brought my appt forward to June. In the end I went private as it was driving me a bit insane and paid £100 for a private appt and he's given me 100mg clomid (no montioring whatsoever) but has recommended I ask to be referred back to him as an nhs patient at the private hospital to have a laparoscopy to try and unblock my tube. I wish I'd gone private sooner. Just mentioning it in case it's something you thought would be far too expensive. I was so shocked it only cast £100 plus £15 for the clomid prescription.

seven201 · 15/05/2019 09:57

Sorry, I wasn't very clear, as usual! I had the HyCoSy scan at one private place but was then meant to go back to nhs but the wait was long. So ended up going to a different private place (I didn't like the place I paid a fortune for a scan at) and saw someone actually useful.

seven201 · 15/05/2019 09:59

Sorry you're spotting now @doomkittycleo . I know the feeling of just wanting to up the dose yourself! Is there another doctor at your hospital you could ask? So annoying when the timing of thing doesn't work as everything takes so long with ttc

doomkittycleo · 15/05/2019 11:14

@Jesskir89 no my cycles aren’t being monitored at all.

I didn’t have a hycosy scan this time either as Dr didn’t think it necessary as all was fine when I had clomid for DD.

The Drs secretary said there are no other Drs who can prescribe clomid in the department atm, so I’m stuck in limbo.

I wouldn’t know how to go about going private as I phoned one place and the receptionist said as far as she is aware they only do IVF (I thought that was unlikely, so asked her to check and call back, then I missed the call and hey didn’t leave a voicemail) by the time I remembered to chase it up my nhs appointment came through (the wait was only 2 weeks). So I never chased it up.

seven201 · 15/05/2019 11:30

@doomkittycleo two weeks is very good so might be worth sticking with it then. I asked on my local Facebook community group for recommendations and got lots of responses.

Jesskir89 · 15/05/2019 14:53

Sorry for the late reply. You need to request a blood test as your progesterone levels need to be a min of 30 to ovulate. Mine were 23 then 5.5 but great news this morning as on 100mg they've gone to 89 so I'm ovulating! :) I've had every test under the sun including laparoscopy it's been a tough 2.5 years of trying

doomkittycleo · 15/05/2019 15:08

@Jesskir89 it’s not as simple as asking for it, my Dr made it clear that if I get clomid it will not be monitored.

I wasn’t monitored when trying for DD either, which I am fine with. But the Dr last time just said to increase on the third month if the 1st and 2nd month at 50mg weren’t successful. This Dr (who is the clinical director of both the local private clinics I might add) just wrote a prescription for 6 months at 50mg and doesn’t plan to see me again until September.

Pinktruffle · 15/05/2019 18:40

@doomkittycleo I'm sorry to hear about the early menopause in your family, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hopefully you won't be effected - and the Clomid should have worked by then so it'll be irrelevant!

@marmite83 I keep get antsy about IVF. I don't want to try it too early - I did get one natural pregnancy 9 months ago and have only been on Letrozole 2 months so I know I need to be patient and give it a proper go but I'm also conscious that I'm getting older and wait lists are long - I should be entitled to one round on the NHS and cant afford not to take that. I'm seeing my useless specialist next week so will try and talk to him but that generally doesn't go well.

seven201 · 15/05/2019 20:09

It's so crap how different areas have different rules about monitoring. My gp has agreed to do a blood test for day 21 for my first cycle on clomid, consultant wouldn't have done one.

Jesskir89 · 15/05/2019 20:20

It is frustrating my doctors don't care it's my consultant that's been sending me for blood tests. He didn't want to put me on chlomid yet but been trying for 2 and half years so I pushed them for it. Fingers crossed it works for us all x

BelleSausage · 15/05/2019 20:25

Can I jump on?

TTC for 2 years with No.2

Did all the tests and all fine but my LH is really low on the 21 day tests. Been prescribed Clomid and and really nervous now.

Any tips?

Jesskir89 · 15/05/2019 20:30

@doomkittycleo didn't mean to sound insensitive about you asking for blood tests of course you would have enquired.

@bellesausage just keep trying extra hard from day 10 of your cycle for a week. Are they going to monitor your progesterone while on the chlomid?

seven201 · 15/05/2019 21:17

Welcome @BelleSausage
I don't really have tips as I'm on my first cycle too. Be prepared for side effects. I'm on cd16 and not ovulated yet, so don't assume it will happen early, although i think it often does.
