Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

@bear88 none medicated, I usually ovulate around Day 22 I am having pains but aometimes I think it's all in my head. I am beginning to think OPK testing stresses me out even more and maybe I should stop?
My doc didnt offer any scanning what so ever so I feel like on raling wild stabs on the dark

Bear88 · 05/04/2019 20:39

@Eleonor15 so sorry my phone didn't load the message before I posted!

@Pinktruffle that's why I dont OPK anymore. I did 5 years ago when we first started TTC but after a year it made me more stressed out - then found out about my tumour and just thought it's a waste of time.

I'm getting quite a few twinges and some really low cramps so I don't think its going to be a BFP for me but I am happy that I actually ovulated so it's a step in the right direction Smile

Twinges can be implantation pains though.... it's so hard to figure out what's a potential BFP and what's normal period symptoms, the two can be so similar

Marmite83 · 05/04/2019 22:23

@Bear88 cramps aren't necessarily a bad thing, I've got everything crossed for you!

Bear88 · 05/04/2019 22:35

@Pinktruffle I always though implantation cramping happened way before AF was due? That's true though about all these twinges and pains being very similar - it also could be this is the first cycle I've actually released an egg so I'm not even sure what the 'norm' is Confused

Thank you @Marmite83 it would be a complete miracle if it happens to be a BFP! I'll test Monday morning if AF doesn't arrive and then just take it from there. It's such an emotional rollercoaster! How are you feeling?

Did an FRER this morning and it's negative so I think the Lloyds hpts are just defective. Won't be buying any more of them! I'll be starting OPKs today, fingers crossed we haven't missed our chance this cycle as we didn't BD at all yet as I didn't want to risk doing any damage just in case Sad

doomkittycleo · 06/04/2019 10:34

@Bear and @pinktruffle implantation pains can happen any time from around 6DPO right up until mid way through the first trimester.

Some women have implantation really early, some it only starts at the same time their af is due. The pains often last for several weeks after.

When I got my bfp with DD I was convinced af was here, so much so I was 2 days late and hadn’t even thought of testing as I thought the clomid has lengthened my cycle and that af was limited.

It was my mum who told me to take a test as I’d told her I was expecting to come on on the Wednesday and it was Friday.

Funnily enough I got my funding approval letter for ivf on the nhs on the same day as my bfp 🤦‍♀️.

doomkittycleo · 06/04/2019 10:34

*imminent (not limited)

Pinktruffle · 06/04/2019 15:41

Yeah when I had my miscarriage, I didnt realise I was pregnant as all the pains I'd had, I assumed where period pains. I had started to avoid testing as I'd get so upset when it was negative. Now I test regardless to be on the safe side. I still cant help but think 'had I known, things could of been different'.

Bear88 · 06/04/2019 21:15

@Marmite83 got everything crossed for you that the OPK's will give you the readings that you deserve even without the clomid!

@doomkittycleo ah how I remember yes. I did read about implantation cramping back when we were first TTC but then when found out wasn't ovulating at all I pushed that all aside. That's typical about getting your funding letter the day of your BFP! If it were up to me I wouldn't test at all until I was at least a week late - I hate the feeling that overwhelmes me when you see a negative test - but I have too as my bromocriptine medication has to be stopped immediately if I were to get pregnant so will have to test day off and so on.

@Pinktruffle it's just such a horrible time to be stuck in. Your constantly wondering am I aren't I but have no choice but to just wait it out and let your mind wander!

Today I haven't had as many cramps but still there. Seem really dull and very low down. Extremely tired and just feel generally out of sorts. Think it's all in my mind though as got a little over excited knowing I actually ovulated. Not sure if we missed the window though as BD'd 19th/21st/23rd March then over should've been 25th but due to hubby's dental work weren't able to BD. Life just got in the way this month. Hope you guys are having a good weekend so far?!

Sorry to hear that @Bear88, hopefully cycle 2 is the one for us both!

Bear88 · 07/04/2019 18:19

Got everything crossed for both of us @Marmite83! Hopefully this month will be our month and we will have January babies 😊

I'm sorry @bear88, hopefully next month. Hopefully cycle two is the lucky one.

I've had a tough day today, DH nephews birthday so his brothers, their wives and the kids came round. All 4 are under 5 and 2 are under 1. The youngest would have been 2 months older than my baby had I not had the miscarriage. I'm trying my hardest not to be a miserable cow when everyone comes round but I am finding it tough. It's sad when doing the washing up is your saviour!

Hope you've all had better weekends?

Constance1234 · 07/04/2019 20:25

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me joining in and asking a question in my first post. I’ve just been given Clomid for low amh. I’ve been reading over the Clomid threads and have noticed that some people suggest taking it at night to sleep through any side effects. My question is if I’ve been told to take it on days 2-5 but taking it at night, would I take it before I went to bed on cycle day 1 as it’d cover more of day 2 than taking it on the night of day 2? I hope that makes sense, and I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I’m sorry you had a tough one pinktruffle hope you are feeling ok.

doomkittycleo · 07/04/2019 20:26

@Bear88 sorry to hear af is on the way.

Hopefully next cycle will be your month🤞 onwards and upwards.

I’m getting some period type pains which surprises me as I’m only 5dpo.

Hopefully it’s a good sign, but I know better than to get my hopes up this early.

Marmite83 · 07/04/2019 22:38

Welcome @Constance1234. I took it on the evening of day 2, I think the evening of day 1 would be too early. Good luck!

Constance1234 · 08/04/2019 08:34

Marmite83 Thank you! I’m a bit apprehensive about taking it, but it’s helpful to connect with others in the same situation. Hope things work out soon for everyone! :)

doomkittycleo · 08/04/2019 15:52

Hi @Constance1234, welcome to the clomid club. I agree with @Marmite83 night time of CD1 would be too early. My Dr also told me if your period starts after 1pm that counts as CD0 and not to count CD1 until the following day.

For example my period (af) started at 3pm on Sunday 17th March, so I took my first pill CD2 evening which was then Tuesday 19th March and my last pill on CD7 which was Saturday 23rd.

Marmite83 · 09/04/2019 08:47

Little surprise for me this morning. Went from a blank circle yesterday to a solid smiley today! A little worried we might miss our chance but hopefully if we bd tonight we have a chance of catching it. Didn't bd last night as we were both exhausted and figured we didn't need to worry too much until we got a flashing smiley. The last time we did bd was Sunday lunchtime. The positive is that the two Clomid I took don't seem to have had any negative impact on ovulation Smile. Fingers crossed we can catch it! IVF consultation for us on Monday and will probably start next cycle if it doesn't happen this cycle.

Pinktruffle · 09/04/2019 09:44

Fingercrossed for you @Marmite83

A quick question about testing. This is my first cycle on the ovulation meds, my normal period is a 35 day cycle. Should I still wait till I would normally expect a period to test or should I test after 30 days if I've not had a period?

Marmite83 · 09/04/2019 14:54

Not sure I can help @Pinktruffle, my cycles were 26 and 25 days before taking Clomid last cycle and it lengthened my cycle to 28 days. I had heard previously that Clomid can lengthen your cycle but whether that would apply when your cycle is already 35 days I'm not sure. Ultimately, it's up to you when you test, the longer you can hold out, the better I'd say. Good luck!

Pinktruffle · 09/04/2019 15:10

Ahh ok. I'm not ready to test yet, we are still in my ovulation window I think (I had the egg white discharge yesterday). I'll try and hold out until my normal period is due. If it comes early then that's my question answered.

I've had twinges and pains all throughout my cycle this time round. Not sure that means anything but I hope something is trying to work!

Kelly199 · 09/04/2019 15:35

Sorry to jump in!
@Pinktruffle this is my first month on clomid too and I've had pains throughout too.
Ive had the ewcm today too (around midday), does this mean I'm ovulating now or will do in 1-2 days?

Pinktruffle · 09/04/2019 16:27

As far as I'm aware- and correct me if I'm wrong ladies - it should mean that you are ovulating in the next 24 hours so do the BD!
