Hi everyone, so we saw the nurse earlier this week and our plan has been set. We are on long protocol and will be looking at starting on my December cycle meaning that I will be due to start buserelin around 6th jan with EC being end of Jan.

Anyone else looking at a December/ January cycle?

@brighteye3986 great well fingers crossed! Hope you are feeling ok. Lots of water helps!

brighteye3986 · 06/01/2019 20:23

Thanks @Positivity86 I'm feeling ok. Felt a little dizzy this morning and was a little bit crampy and achy yesterday. But I'd also spent most of my day doing cooking and taking down my Christmas decks so could have also been that! Other than that I haven't really noticed anything different yet.

They told me buserelin could delay my period. It was a couple of days late and didn't last as long as normal.

Have my last scan tomorrow. Have spent the weekend feeling headachey and sick. Think it must be the hormones. Finished stims today and last buserelin tomorrow!

womaninkent · 06/01/2019 20:39

I didn’t realise buserelin could delay your period. Just waiting for mine to start but not late yet. The first time in 2 and a half years I’ve wanted it to come!

brighteye3986 · 06/01/2019 20:58

@womaninkent I only know because I was reading other people's posts online. The nurse didn't tell me. She told me that buserelin should make me bleed within 7 days of starting. She did say sometimes it can be sooner than and sometimes a little longer.

@Vikkid2007 I only have short periods normally. They are normally 3-4 days. Are they shorter when on buserelin?

@Positivity86 thank you, it feels like I need all the luck in the world right now, been ttc for 3 years now.

@CornishMaid1 we are close! I was looking for another group but couldn't find one.

I am a bit worried about my hormone levels. On one results page it says I have an FSH level of 12! (Which is high - not good either as it means low egg reserve) but then on another letter sent from my GP it said my FSH was 4.6 which is normal. I've only done the test once, how could there be two different results. My AMH is at 39 which is apparently really good too. So ... my doctor is sending me to have my blood work done because there seems to have been a mix up.

My dates haven't changed but they said they wanted to be sure so they what's dosage to give me for downreg and stims.

Not a good start!

Where are you based @CornishMaid1 ?

CornishMaid1 · 07/01/2019 00:19

That's odd to have two results and one test. Hopefully they'll resolve it quickly.

I'm down in Cornwall but am having treatment at CRGW, so will go between Bristol and Wales.

mimi27 · 07/01/2019 00:21

Also wanted ask you ladies, is anyone doing ICSI due to sperm morphology or Male factor sub fertility?

mimi27 · 07/01/2019 00:25

@CornishMaid1 ofc Cornwall hence the name!

It is strange, I'm doing ivf through the NHS, UCLH in London. So far the mix up has made me lose confidence.

I hope you find a way to balance IVF and work. I've decided not to care too much about the workload and treat myself every weekend whether it's a massage or a lovely piece of cake. It's all about wellbeing 😆

Rememberallball · 07/01/2019 00:45

@cornishMaid1, we’re in Cornwall as well, having moved from inside M25 Surrey a couple of months ago. We are not far from Launceston.

I had my second endometrial thickness scan done this morning and, from it being 2.5mm last weekend (after syncing my cycle with egg donor using bcp and on CD1) today it was 9.89mm on day 7 of estrodiol tablets; the midwife/sonographer who didn’t the scan was really impressed by the difference. I am due to increase dose of these on Tuesday after 4 days 2x2mg and 4 days 3x2mg tablets. I think the consultant in Cyprus might decide not to increase the dose which he did last year as I had a very good response to the meds.

Tomorrow is a busy day with trying to sort out getting a sharps bin ready for my Clexane injection syringes, working out getting my beta HCG blood test done once we’re back (considering buying the kits from Medichecks as I can do a finger prick and send off myself and get results the following day). Also got the packing Tom do and make sure we’ve everything’s ready to head to London on Wednesday.

Nordicmom · 07/01/2019 01:22

Have had a headache all day today I hope this isn’t how it’s going to be from now on !

brighteye3986 · 07/01/2019 06:22

@CornishMaid1 we are doing ICSI due to low motility.

@Nordicmom I had an awful headache during the night. Doesn't seem to bad now but I couldn't even move my head without it causing me so much pain. Hopefully yours will go soon. Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your fluid levels up.

@mimi27 I'm sure it's just an error. I have had 2 blood tests done at the same time before and they have only managed to give me 1 result saying the other had been lost meaning that I had to go and have it done again. By this point it was the only thing standing in my way for my referral to be processed.... luckily I was on the ball and constantly ringing to secretary to my consultant to get updates and make sure they'd got my results etc otherwise it could have been delayed even more.
I'm sure everything will be fine.

Sorry @CornishMaid1 I've just woken up and was reading the posts and thought it was you asking about ICSI when it was @mimi27!

Maybe I should just go back to bed today and forget about work....

Vikkid2007 · 07/01/2019 06:48

@brighteye3986 I'm not sure she only said to me it would delay it. I did have a lot of spotting beforehand so that might be why it's shorter?!
@nordicmum hope your headache is getting better. I had one all weekend I couldn't shift too :( hope everyone is feeling ok :)

Justwaitingforaline · 07/01/2019 09:23

mimi we’re having ICSI for Male factor infertility Smile

Only a week left of the pill and then injections start on the 18th! I’m on the short protocol so egg collection should be the 30th Jan. this month on the pill has flown by, I just hope the lady I’m sharing my eggs with is feeling okay and not too nervous.

CornishMaid1 · 07/01/2019 13:40

mimi we're ICSI for male factor too.

Hi "Remembrall" I'm down nearer Truro. Are you having treatment at Derriford or Exeter or are you heading further afield?

womaninkent · 07/01/2019 16:06

@mimi27 we're having ICSI for male factor as well.
Also I wouldn't worry too much about the results-my gp was so bad they took one of my blood tests on completely the wrong day of the month making it look as though I was off the scale problematic, but it was all fine. I'm sure there will be a simple explanation. If it isn't quite as good as you hoped there's some quite useful stuff on the mindful IVF app on this (under Fertility Friday Podcast, headed 'the problem with high FSH and low AMH').

Got my period (not delayed by the buserelin) and have just come home with some seriously scary looking Gonal F needles Shock

Positivity86 · 07/01/2019 16:57

@womaninkent good news 👍🏻 We are very close on dates as mine started on Saturday. I have my down reg scan next Tuesday and should start stims then too. The needles are bigger aren't they! When is your scan?

womaninkent · 07/01/2019 16:59

I did it today. All fine and I start on the Gonal F tonight. Good luck for yours.

Rememberallball · 07/01/2019 17:04

@CornishMaid1, we are going further afield and having our treatment in Cyprus. We don’t qualify for NHS treatment because of my age so had to go for a reasonably priced option which we found in Cyprus.

Had our first cycle in October 2017 and were going to do the second cycle last spring but had lots of family things going on including losing my mum and having to move away from where we lived as the house had to be sold. Now we’ve settled down in Cornwall we feel ready to focus on the IVF.

NV42 · 07/01/2019 17:35

Hello to all you..

Not the right thread as I am a January-February 2019 but I wanted to ask at the back of your recent experiences.

I started my 21-day long protocol for IVF/ICSI on the 5th of January with synarel nasal spray to be followed by Gonal-F …

I was wondering what were some of the symptoms you got those taking the nasal spray?

Did any of you got chest pains/palpitations during the IVF or is it just me and probably getting over stressed about the whole thing.. ?

NV42 · 07/01/2019 17:39

Also may I ask another possible silly question?

Did you prefer to use the 300u or the 900u Pen for Gonal-F? I am inclined to buy the 300u Pen as I will have to fiddle less if it makes sense.

Also did you worry about the bubbles when having the injections?

mimi27 · 07/01/2019 21:04

@brighteye3986 it is a little frustrating when things get delayed. I'm doing my blood tests tomorrow, nurse said that should be enough time before my next appointment to start downregulation.

@womaninkent Oh wow! I hope they don't mix up the results this time round. My FSH level looks like I'm going through menopause early, which doesn't add up with my other hormone levels. It's also stressing me out because now I'm worried that I have a low egg reserve. Hopefully things will get cleared up. And thanks for the podcast recommendation! Smile

Vikkid2007 · 07/01/2019 21:17

@nv42 with the gonal my dose was 225 so I had 2 pens that had 900 in (4 doses) and then one pen was 450. They are really easy to use as you just twist the end til the right dose.

With the other injections I didn't really get bubbles, sometimes got air when first drawing it out. But I'd just push the plunger back in and re draw it. It's really not too bad.

:)

Nordicmom · 08/01/2019 01:20

We will be doing ICSI like two previous times second which resulted in DD . I’ve had many mc and DH sperm isn’t perfect either so going with it again .
As far as bubbles go we were told it’s not a problem since we’re injecting into fatty tissue not a vein .
Haven’t had such a headache today but am having trouble going to sleep and am anxious but we’ve had a horrible 6 m with one parent dying suddenly and another nearly , a cancer scare for me and then my DS being mugged before Christmas so I’ve been battling with depressive and anxious thoughts before this process . Also have a 10 y history of so many losses and disappointments and starting this after 7 y is bringing it all back. School starts on wed for both kids and this staying up half the night isn’t going to work then so hopefully I can fall asleep earlier today .
I’m on day 7 of Buserelin shots and waiting for AF. Feel like it’s on its way hopefully sooner rather than later so I can book the scan and get my next drugs !
