Hi everyone, so we saw the nurse earlier this week and our plan has been set. We are on long protocol and will be looking at starting on my December cycle meaning that I will be due to start buserelin around 6th jan with EC being end of Jan.

Anyone else looking at a December/ January cycle?

Hi everyone

I think I should join next months thread really but reading all your posts is really helping me.

I suffered an ectopic earlier this year and am having my remaining damaged right tube removed in a couple of weeks which means IVF is our only hope.

I am considering egg sharing and would be keen to hear others thoughts from both perspectives on this.

I hope to start treatment as soon as possible after my op I guess this will be in Feb but not sure.

Hi Wellington, Ive literally just started egg sharing IVF. I started the pill earlier this month to sync my cycle with the recipient of my eggs and am due to start injections on 18th Jan Smile

That’s great news Jemima! Thrilled for you. Fingers crossed for Saturday!

Wellingtonboot86 · 20/12/2018 16:14

@justwaitingforaline how long did the whole process take? did the counselling and chromosomal testing delay your treatment by very long? Also did you know anything about your recipient? Sorry to bombard you with questions please feel free to tell me to bugger off if you don't want to answer!

I wondered if anyone has started treatment in Oxford or Southampton or London Womens Clinic?

Justwaitingforaline · 20/12/2018 17:55

wellington I’m actually local to Southampton and am using Complete fertility in Southampton.

We had our initial IVF appointment in July, the chromosome testing takes 3 months to come back through the clinic but it is all paid for if you’re wanting to egg share. AMH level and internal ultrasound of ovaries to check egg reserve - your AMH has to be between 15 and 30 to be able to share, I think mine was 27. There’s quite a hefty list of criteria to meet to be accepted as an egg sharer but there’s such a shortage of egg donors at the moment that they’re keen to get the ball rolling. After I’d been accepted as a donor and written my pen portrait ( basically an ‘about me’ document) and goodwill message ( a letter to any donor conceived children they get when they turn 18), i was picked by someone a day later. I then had to wait for my next period which was the 8th December to start birth control with injections starting on the 18th Jan and egg collection on the 30th. One you’ve been accepted it’s a very quick process! The counselling was one session to check that both my husband and I understood the implications of donating my eggs etc. We can have up to 6 through the process if we want them.

You don’t get to know anything at all about the recipients but you can find out if any children were born from your eggs, the year and the gender Smile Happy to any questions you have, I don’t mind at all!

Hi there! Re-joining after a BFN on our first cycle in Oct/Nov with no frosties. My protocol has been upped slightly with the hope of getting a few more eggs than last time (10 eggs/5 mature/3 embryos) so hoping that does the trick. Due to start 6 Jan. Sorry to see some of the name names from previous threads. Let's hope 2019 is our year 💗💗💗

CornishMaid1 · 21/12/2018 08:55

Welcome to the new joiners.

I hope the transfer goes well tomorrow Jemima. I think it's a psychological thing - 5 AB are really good, but we go through school aiming for 100% so I think you end up feeling bad that you didn't get 'full marks'. 5 is a good number and it only takes 1.

Fingers crossed.

jemimafuddleduck · 21/12/2018 09:37

Thanks@CornishMaid1

Just had an update from the clinic. We are now day 4 and still have 5 top grade embryos 🙌

Transfer is going to be tomorrow afternoon 😁

Positivity86 · 21/12/2018 11:17

@jemimafuddleduck how exciting! I hope all goes well tomorrow 😊

jemimafuddleduck · 21/12/2018 11:33

Thanks @Positivity86 - I want it to be this time tomorrow now...!

AliceScarlett · 21/12/2018 18:08

Wonderful news @jemimafuddleduck Wishing you all the luck for the next 2 weeks. Eep! X

AliceScarlett · 21/12/2018 18:20

@jemimafuddleduck will you freeze some?

jemimafuddleduck · 21/12/2018 21:00

Thanks @AliceScarlett

If there are some available to freeze then we certainly will be! 🤞

jemimafuddleduck · 22/12/2018 15:24

Hi all!

So... Transfer Day is here at last. We have had 2 embryos transferred and are waiting to hear how any we have to freeze. I managed to hold it together for most of the procedure, until the nurse handed me a gift from our anonymous donor. Blown away doesn’t even describe it - what an amazing woman. Fingers crossed now the little beans stick ❤️❤️

Positivity86 · 22/12/2018 18:51

@jemimafuddleduck yay! Glad all went well and you've got 2 embies on board 😍 Your donor sounds like a lovely Woman. Wishing you so much luck for the next 2 weeks x

jemimafuddleduck · 23/12/2018 12:27

Just found out none of the other embryos were suitable for freezing. Which makes me feel really negative - especially as the clinic recommended transferring 2 rather than 1 - they said at the beginning that they would only do that if they weren't great quality.
So I've gone from having 5 top grade embryos to 2 sub standard ones and no back up if they don't work.
Feeling very 😭 today.

womaninkent · 23/12/2018 17:32

@jemimafuddleduck what a shame. Sending you sticky thoughts for your two little embryos! x

Positivity86 · 24/12/2018 12:26

@jemimafuddleduck stay strong. You got this 👍🏻 X

Lionesscub · 26/12/2018 07:07

Hello everyone, Can I join in? We have been trying to conceive for 4 years now and fell pregnant naturally in June 2016. Unfortunately had a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks which totally crushed us as we came to know about it a day before my birthday and earlier in the week had seen the heartbeat flutter. I am type 2 diabetic and took control over my eating habits. Was a smoker as well and had given that up when found out I was pregnant. Still do occasionally smoke but vape more then anything else and am almost there. After the GP’s referral last year, I had 2 operations this year as first they thought I had blocked tube and a cyst on my right ovary which whilst operating found out by inking the tube that it was fine but had severe endometriosis. Second operation they removed the cyst and endometriosis but also most of my right ovary.
We are going to be in a short protocol for IVF and have my nurse’s appointment on 4th Jan and we will hand over our consent form and she will show us how the injections work etc. I am not worried about injections as already take insulin to control my sugar levels.
It’s been quite a journey so far and though I have hope somewhere, I am a realist as well and was given a 20% chance of success with my age -39 and low amh and one functional ovary.
It’s a very lonely journey as we don’t have any support from my DH’s side of the family. If anything else they have only made matters worse for us and my DH has massive anxiety issues and depression.
But on a happy note.... atleast we are going in some direction and can only hope for the best.
Sorry for the whining.....

Lionesscub · 26/12/2018 07:10

Oh and seasons greeting to all and hope you’ll had some relaxing time....Smile

jemimafuddleduck · 26/12/2018 08:54

Hi @Lionesscub - you're very welcome on this journey with us. I'm sorry to hear of the heartache you've been through so far, this process can be a right bitch can't it.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas Day!

I felt quite low yesterday- I think because I came off the pill this time last year and naively thought we'd have a newborn this Christmas. Oh how wrong I was.

I'm currently 4dpt. Had minor cramping for the first 2 days but nothing really yesterday other than bloating and a sore throat. I still feel bloated today (although that's probably down to eating ALL THE CHEESE) and still have a sore throat - never heard of that as a symptom before though so maybe it's just a sore throat!!

Vikkidouglas · 27/12/2018 13:54

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Had my baseline scan this morning and all ok so starting the Gonal F tomorrow. Getting excited now to get the process started!

brighteye3986 · 27/12/2018 14:03

That's great news @Vikkidouglas

I'm on the countdown now to start my buserelin. 8 days to go. Feeling excited and scared all at the same time.

I have decided that once I start I am going to keep a journal of how I'm feeling etc. Anyone else doing this? I think it may help me a little knowing I have somewhere I can vent.

OP posts:
jemimafuddleduck · 27/12/2018 18:41

@Vikkidouglas yay! Glad the scan went well and great news you can start on meds tomorrow - I didn't take that one, is it an injection? How many do you have to take a day?

@brighteye3986 is your buserelin the nasal spray or injection? I had the nasal spray. I haven't kept a journey as such but I guess I have updated here quite regularly.

I'm 5dp5dt today and have had no symptoms whatsoever today. I'll be testing on New Year's Day, which will be 10dpt. I'm absolutely desperate to test sooner but won't because we have lots of stuff going on that would be completely ruined by a BFN so it's better not to know for certain until I can have the time to grieve. If I'm honest, I don't think it's worked. Just a gut feeling 😢

brighteye3986 · 27/12/2018 18:54

@jemimafuddleduck I will be injecting 😕. Not looking forward to that part but if it's what I need to do then I will do it!

OP posts:
jemimafuddleduck · 27/12/2018 18:54

@brighteye3986 I have to say I was very grateful that I didn't have to do that!! How long do you have to inject for?
