Hi everyone, so we saw the nurse earlier this week and our plan has been set. We are on long protocol and will be looking at starting on my December cycle meaning that I will be due to start buserelin around 6th jan with EC being end of Jan.

Anyone else looking at a December/ January cycle?

@Boboelephant thank you! And to you.

@AliceScarlett Hello! I'm new to IVF threads too! We are in the unexplained category and at our first fertility appointment (after GP referral) we discussed our whole TTC journey and all the test results. They said that if we wanted to have IVF then we would be referred as we'd been trying for 2 years. We are eligible for 1 funded cycle. We were given some paperwork to take home and choose which IVF clinic we wanted from a list. It's all happened quite quickly since then and i start meds v soon.

I hope that helps give you some insight and that your appointment next week goes really well. Good luck! Smile

So we had to have an appointment with a fertility nurse at our first appointment at the proper fertility clinic. We had previously also seen a nurse at our local hospital. The first appointment involved filling out a form for each of us, blowing into a machine to prove we don't smoke, BMI, blood tests. We then had to wait for our next appointment to see the consultant and I had a scan and my husband had to give a sample.they looked at the results and decided on how to go forwards. I then had to call on day 1 of my cycle. My meds arrived today , got appt with nurse on Tues to show me how to inject and then start injections on 10th Dec.
:)

Positivity86 · 30/11/2018 21:07

Our first appointment at the actual IVF clinic was exactly the same Smile

AliceScarlett · 02/12/2018 14:47

Thanks everyone. I've been under the fertility clinic for a year now so I'm pretty sure we have had all the major tests. Annoying time of the year though, after all this time I know I can wait another month, but I don't want to put it off just because of Christmas. Oh well. We will see on Thursday.
Had a coffee today and 2 cups of tea....giving up caffeine is proving difficult Hmm

jemimafuddleduck · 02/12/2018 22:30

Hey all! How are you doing? I've been on meds for 2 weeks now. First (baseline) scan is on Tuesday and first acupuncture on Wednesday.
I'm feeling ok so far although have been feeling quite bloated, have put in about 4 pounds and was VERY emotional last week! Hope you're all doing well.

Justwaitingforaline · 04/12/2018 18:45

We got our dates! The pill starts next Monday until 14th Jan and then injections start on the 18th - all being well, egg collection on the 30th!

AliceScarlett · 04/12/2018 19:17

Oo exciting. So good you don't have to delay until January!

Jemima glad to hear you're doing ok. Putting on weight scares me, do you think it is actual fat?

I've got my appt on Thurs, just hoping we can start ASAP.

brighteye3986 · 04/12/2018 20:13

@Justwaitingforaline exciting and scary times ahead.

I've been focusing on work for the time being as I know I will be starting to inject on day 21 of my next cycle which is looking like it could be anywhere between 1st and 6th January- I will know for sure within the next 2 weeks. Not ovulating means my cycles are a bit messed up but hoping my acupuncture has helped as last cycle was 28 days which I can't remember the last time I had a cycle like that!

I'm not looking forward to injecting and as it's been a while since I saw the nurse I'm going to have to watch some videos I think to refresh myself- if not I may have to contact my clinic and see if they can fit me in so they can show me again.....

Ahh @Justwaitingforaline that's great news! It's so good when you have your dates and can start feeling like you're doing something.

@AliceScarlett no I don't think it's proper fat,it's gone down again now once I had finished my period.

I had a scan today and my lining was thin (which is good). I start on progynova tomorrow and my next scan is next Thursday. The nurse said my donor was in yesterday for her scan and all is well so far.
I can't get my head around the idea that someone out there is going through all of this for us. It makes me so emotional!

tikha · 05/12/2018 05:45

Hi all

I would like to join this group as well. I am going to have my second cycle of IVF. My first one ended in an ectopic cervical pregnancy and have been having a break from it for 3 months or so and back to the grindstone again. Just started with Gonal-F last week and will see how it goes. Already have 3 eggs that were slight larger than the rest which according to my RE may cause issues. My followup US is tomorrow. Its MF issue combined with low AMH for me as I am 39 so double whammy there. Hard to juggle with full time work but thats just regular life I guess

jemimafuddleduck · 05/12/2018 06:25

Hi @tikha, good luck on your cycle. Have they indicated when your egg collection could be if all goes well?
Why could having 3 eggs now be an issue?
I have low AMH too (3.4 age 32) so we have gone straight to donor eggs x

tikha · 05/12/2018 15:11

@jemimafuddleduck its not 3 eggs but 11 eggs to start on the day 2 us that I had.. but apparently 3 of them were slightly bigger than the rest and it can cause problems. My egg collection is in a week's time I think but I haven't got the exact date. Really depends on the response to medications. Maybe I need to consider donor eggs if this fails. It worked last time though. The problem is we are mixed couple so harder..

AliceScarlett · 06/12/2018 09:53

Had the most pointless appointment. She asked me my date of birth, told me it could be 4 months and sent me on my way. So upset.

tikha · 06/12/2018 11:28

Did they say why? Is there a long wait list?

jemimafuddleduck · 06/12/2018 11:33

@AliceScarlett why 4 months?! How upsetting for you, I know exactly how it feels to want to just get on with things x

AliceScarlett · 06/12/2018 11:54

Nope she didn't say why, just that the funding and then the referral and then the waiting list can all take 4 months. NICE guidance in 2 years, not 3.5 years. Ugh. I'm trying to accept it.

AliceScarlett · 06/12/2018 20:04

Rang the clinic because I couldn't deal with uncertainty. Receptionist was really nice. Said it normally takes about 8 weeks from when they receive the referral, which I'm hoping my consultant will do ASAP. So I'm thinking Feb. Hopefully my cycles lengthen a bit before then because I'm due on on the 2nd Feb, typical to just miss it and have to wait until March.

I've downloaded www.mindfulivf.com/ to give me something to do.

jemimafuddleduck · 06/12/2018 20:21

Do you know what, they really dragged their feet with me. I called up constantly and made a bit of a nuisance of myself and managed to get an appointment sooner than planned!! Maybe start calling early January to chase them? X

AliceScarlett · 07/12/2018 11:31

That's a great idea actually. Good plan!

Vikkidouglas · 07/12/2018 12:44

We were quite frustrated actually with the whole referral process. We got referred from our doctor in April to a local hospital. We assumed that was the place treatment would be- It was quite far away but manageable. In June we went there and saw a nurse, filled out a form and she said yes we can refer you. She did give me a scan and told me I had a cyst. She told us we would have an appointment in September and probably start in October. Though it was at another hospital. An hour's drive away. We didn't get a choice of where we were going. We waited and got a letter for October. Saw a nurse at the new hospital and filled out the exact same form we filled out previously. Also blew in a machine. Then it was a case of waiting for an appt. We were lucky and got a cancellation. Saw the consultant who said we would get treatment all done before Xmas. Though when my period came they couldn't fit me in. So had to wait another month. Now ready to go with starting my injections on Monday!
Basically I'd say don't listen to their timescales in the lead up!

Justwaitingforaline · 08/12/2018 10:20

Birth control started this morning as it’s CD1! Grin I’ve never been so excited to see my period, the countdown to the 18th jan to start injections begins!

womaninkent · 11/12/2018 13:15

Hi everyone. Can I jump on this thread. We are starting our first cycle in Jan. Like a lot of people on here we couldn't do it in December because of clinic closures over Christmas. Starting Buserelin on on the 28th December and if all goes well egg collection on about the 21st Jan. Quite glad that we are starting in Jan, it gives something exciting/terrifying for that time after Christmas which is normally so dull and depressing. After 2 and a half years of trying and getting nowhere at all it feels like there is at least a bit of hope.

My nurse definitely said that I didn't have to worry to much about a few Christmas drinks so I'm taking her at her word, and giving up in Jan which I normally do anyway.
It's so nice to have somewhere to talk about this. Good luck to you all-I look forwards to seeing how you all get on.

CornishMaid1 · 11/12/2018 14:07

Hi everyone. Hoping I can join in too, although techinically I think I should find a February thread (I don't think there is one yet though).

Like a few of you, I am caught by the Christmas shut down and they would have had to have me on the down-reg drugs for 18 days which they don't want to do.

If my next cycle starts on time (which I don't think it will just to annoy me) then I should be starting meds around 9th January and my egg collection is scheduled for the week of 4th February.

Part of my problem is that my collection date is tight for work (due to work issues I cannot do the last two weeks in February) so if this cycle is too late I may have to delay for another month which I really don't want to do.

I just really want to get started now.

womaninkent · 11/12/2018 15:51

Hi CornishMaid1. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm trying to fit it around some work days which can't be shifted as well so I know your frustration!

Justwaitingforaline · 12/12/2018 14:52

Injection training done, meds ordered, provisional dates for everything booked! I’m at quite high risk of OHSS due to my AMH level so they want to scan me quite regularly I think.

Is it weird the bit I’m least okay with is the three times a day progesterone pressaries??
