Hi everyone, so we saw the nurse earlier this week and our plan has been set. We are on long protocol and will be looking at starting on my December cycle meaning that I will be due to start buserelin around 6th jan with EC being end of Jan.

Anyone else looking at a December/ January cycle?

@Nordicmom today is day 13 of buserelin and I'm still not feeling hopeful. Looks like I will be having a scan done Monday to see what's going on. I have acupuncture tonight so hopefully they may be able to advise on something to help bring it on. I've tried everything except sex as DH has been on nights this week so haven't really seen him.

I was feeling so positive at the start and as each days goes by I feeling more negative....

@Vikkid2007, that’s a great number of embryos. We are happy with having 2 to freeze for future use in addition to those we’ve had transferred.

Weather seems much brighter today so we might go out for a drink somewhere close by the hotel - though I’m caffeine and decaf free until the 28th. So off to buylinden tea which I can have!!

Good luck to everyone starting their stims this week xx

Positivity86 · 17/01/2019 07:24

@brighteye3986 sorry to hear it's keeping you waiting. Acupuncture can work wonders (I swear by it) and if not, the clinic will hopefully give you something to start it. I'm sure the drugs are working as they should, the waiting game is just a killer x

Ginger951 · 17/01/2019 08:41

@vikkid2007 good luck! Sounds like you have some great numbers going there!
And @rememberallball wishing you both lots of luck! Got everything crossed for you.

@brighteye3986 I'm so sorry to hear you so down. Your right though just try and relax, distract yourself, indulge yourself, have a good old cry and let it all out. May just do the trick.

After 4 days of crippling cramps (poor hubby has been scared at times when I've had them driving! Oh if only men knew of the pain we cope with at times! ) last night I finally had spotting and today she has arrived! At last! Feels like we can get started now.

Rememberallball · 17/01/2019 10:38

@ginger951, as a good friend said to me recently, it’s the only time in our lives we must be pleased for her arrival!!

In other news. I got an email from the clinic that, after doing tests, one more embryo was suitable for freezing so we’ve got 3 Frosties!!

Nordicmom · 17/01/2019 18:23

Debating here if we should go to Finland to see my family on halfterm since that’s right around end of 2 ww if we get that far . I would like to see them since last time was in October when my mom had a heart attack and pneumonia and nearly died and next opportunity would only be in April when my son at least already has a school ski trip and DH was going to take DD for her first ski trip elsewhere then we were going to go somewhere sunny after those . To be honest I really don’t want to be travelling when I’m either newly pregnant and undoubtedly sick as hell like every time and worried or bleeding and sad . With my Mc history and health problems I wasn’t going to travel at all if I ever manage to conceive . I did when expecting DS at around 5/6 m but this time it’s be a different story .

Justwaitingforaline · 17/01/2019 19:13

I have a question! I started stimms (gonal-f) yesterday on CD2, is it okay that I’m still bleeding? The consultant didn’t say anything about whether the bleeding would stop or not...

mimi27 · 17/01/2019 22:54

@Justwaitingforaline I'm not sure as this is my first cycle too. And like to know the answer as my nurse mentioned when I could expect my bleed but not when it will stop.

I've just been told that I need to keep taking Buserelin when doing stimulation injections to avoid OHSS. Is that normal? Is anyone else doing this?

Ginger951 · 17/01/2019 23:23

@Mimi27 I'm also on my first cycle, long protocol. I have to inject both burselin and stims at the same time. I have to wait till after my first scan to start my stims but definatly both.
It's to stop any natural hormones, so that they know their stimulation ones are the only ones. Making it all much easier to control. And as you say allowing them the control to reduce the risk of OHSS. Hope that helps.

So still no AF and now on day 14 of buserelin. I have called the hospital this morning and have been booked in for a scan on Monday morning to see what's going on and if they can start me on stims. The nurse on the phone was so helpful and says I'm not the only one that this happens too which is a bit of a relief to me.

Today I'm working from home and I'm going out for dinner with DH tonight so fingers crossed I can relax a little.

@brighteye3986 that's good they can get you in and scanned. Fingers crossed for you x

Positivity86 · 18/01/2019 11:05

That's good @brighteye3986 😊 having a nice nurse always helps too!

brighteye3986 · 18/01/2019 11:15

Thanks @Positivity86 and @Vikkid2007

It definitely does help having a nice nurse. Now I'm just hoping that either AF decides to show up at the weekend and if she doesn't that everything can still go ahead on Monday.

I feel a little more relaxed today but I suppose there is always something around the corner that I can't stop worrying about.

I had my egg collection today - 10 eggs woohoo! They will ring tomorrow to let us know how many fertilised but they decided after preparing the sperm to do ICSI. Should I be concerned this will affect results? X

Nordicmom · 18/01/2019 21:14

Saltisford , a great number of eggs . We did ICSI both last cycles with our few eggs only got 5-7 on both cycles and we ended up using 2 good embs both cycles my DD was born from the second cycle . I assume we’ll need ICSI this time too . I’m
praying we’ll get any good eggs out my quality at 43 will be so much worse than last time i’m not feeling optimistic . Hope you’ll get good news about the fertilising next ! I
Wouldn’t worry just wait and see

Tansytudor · 19/01/2019 00:43

I’d like to ask your advice. I’ve been told I can start ivf with next cycle, early February. I am going on holiday to Australia 21st feb. The nurses have said I can still start before I go away but will need to start injections whilst I’m out there. As a lot of you have started the process would you advise starting the process and going away would be fine or should I delay a month and wait till I get back? I appreciate your thoughts, I’m just unsure how the drugs will make me feel and don’t want to ruin the holiday for everyone!

Vikkid2007 · 19/01/2019 07:11

@Saltisford that's a great number! Fingers crossed for their overnight fertilisation!

Positivity86 · 19/01/2019 09:28

Great number @Saltisford! Best of luck 😊

Positivity86 · 19/01/2019 09:36

@Tansytudor my personal experience from the drugs so far is a positive one. I've not really had any symptoms apart from a couple of minor headaches which quickly disappeared with keeping up fluid intake. Everyone is different though. Best of luck & have a great holiday 😊

brighteye3986 · 19/01/2019 09:51

@Tansytudor I have had a few side effects but nothing too major to stop me doing things. Everyone is different though. Others have had nothing at all. I would do what you think is best for you

Thanks everyone for the reassuring messages. We just got the call and seven fertilised! We’re over the moon and we’re told transfer will be Wednesday (5 day transfer)! X

Wupiny · 19/01/2019 11:02

Can I join in?
@Saltidford, Congrats!! Are you at CRM by any chance? I just received a call with regards to my EC yesterday too. It's probably a coincidence.
I have 6 fertilised eggs and my ET is Wednesday as well.
About me:

  • 39 yrs
  • TTC 3yrs+
  • 1st cycle
  • short protocol (menopur and cetrotide.
brighteye3986 · 19/01/2019 11:22

That's great news @Wupiny and @Saltisford

Saltisford · 19/01/2019 11:25

OMG @Wupiny! Congratulations! Yes I am at CRM! Were you there yesterday too then? I am obviously giving away my anonymity! About me:

  • 35 years old
  • TTC 2 years (blocked tube)
  • 1st cycle
  • short protocol with menopur and cetrotide too!!

When was your first appointment at CRM?

Omg I was so beside myself this morning that I was crying down the phone to the embryologist!!

Wupiny · 19/01/2019 11:59

Thanks @brighteye. I have been following you girls for a while and it's helped me a lot to understand what I was going through. Thanks.

@Saltidford - yes I was there :) I think we were 8 girls doing the procedure. I started the process at CRM more than a year ago. Blocked tubes too. I had to wait for a surgery to clip them, I wasn't expecting to wait for so long...
I am extremely happy but scared at the same time. I am trying to take it easy. Hopefully I will be able to throw a bit party soon :)
How are you feeling? I have no pain following the EC but feel really bloated.

I have planned to eat extremely healthy and drink plenty water for Wed, are you doing anything else?
